What happened to Mounjaro prices from 1 September 2025?

Eli Lilly announced on 14 August 2025 that the UK list price of Mounjaro would rise, effective 1 September 2025. That is an increase of up to 170% on the highest dose.¹⁰

The list price is what the manufacturer charges. It is not what every pharmacy charges you. Providers negotiate confidential discounts, so pharmacy sell prices vary. For that reason, comparing like-for-like doses matters more than comparing headlines. The change affects every dose, but the higher strengths rose furthest.

What you pay for Mounjaro with us today

The Mounjaro pen costs £169.99 per month at the 2.5mg starting dose. Each pen is four weekly doses, so the standard monthly prices step up as follows: £189.99 for 5mg, £244.99 for 7.5mg, £274.99 for 10mg, £289.99 for 12.5mg and £299.99 for 15mg. All six doses are in stock.

Discounts apply on top of those standard prices. New customers save £40 on their first order at any dose with code FIRST40, including people switching to us from another provider at a higher dose. Your first 2.5mg pen costs £129.99 with code FIRST40 (standard price £169.99). If you are switching at 15mg, your first order is £259.99. These are first-order prices only. Our consultation is free, and the price shown is the price paid, with no hidden fees.

03 · Why prices rose

Why has the Mounjaro price increased?

The increase came from Eli Lilly's own decision, announced in a statement on 14 August 2025 that included the agreement to raise the UK list price of Mounjaro.¹⁰ It was a manufacturer change, not a decision by individual pharmacies. Every UK pharmacy buying Mounjaro faced the same higher list prices from 1 September 2025.

What pharmacies then charge you depends on their own purchasing terms and margins, which are confidential. That is why two providers can sell the same dose at different prices. 04 · If you're already on it

I'm a weight loss patient on Mounjaro: what does this mean for me?

If you were already taking Mounjaro, the higher list prices mean your monthly cost may have risen, most noticeably at higher doses. Check what you pay for your current strength and compare it with the other options available to you.

Switching provider does not mean restarting from 2.5mg. A new customer gets £40 off their first order at any dose with code FIRST40, and every later order is £25 off the standard price. Your prescriber decides the right dose for you, not the price list. Pens come in six strengths: 2.5mg, 5mg, 7.5mg, 10mg, 12.5mg and 15mg.¹

05 · Planning a year

What does a year of Mounjaro cost?

Planning by the year is more useful than looking at a single pen, because the dose steps up over the first months. These totals are at standard prices, before discounts. A new customer's first order is £40 less, and every later order is £25 less.

A first year costs £2,399.88 if you settle at 5mg, up to £3,279.88 at 15mg. If you settle at another dose, take that dose's monthly price: £244.99 for 7.5mg, £274.99 for 10mg or £289.99 for 12.5mg.

Three months of treatment is three pens. If you step up after 4 weeks on each dose, that means a 2.5mg pen (£169.99), a 5mg pen (£189.99) and a 7.5mg pen (£244.99) at standard prices. Not everyone needs the top dose. Your prescriber reviews your response before each step up. 06 · Will prices fall?

Will Mounjaro get cheaper in the UK?

The list price rose on 1 September 2025, and sell prices vary between pharmacies because of confidential discounts.¹⁰

What you can control is comparing like-for-like doses and using the new-customer and reorder discounts that apply. Our prices are checked and dated (25 October 2026), so you can see when a figure was last confirmed rather than relying on an old screenshot or a forum post.

If you read an article claiming a price "drop" is coming, treat it with caution unless it names a dated source. A price table that is not dated is not worth much. Ours carries a date because the figures change.

07 · NHS or private?

How much will Mounjaro cost on the NHS?

Mounjaro is available on the NHS, but access is being phased in over several years. NICE recommends it for adults with a BMI of at least 35 plus at least one weight-related condition. The NHS primary-care rollout began in June 2025 with the highest-need groups first, initially BMI 40+ with four or more qualifying conditions.⁴⁶

Full rollout is expected to take years. That is why many people who meet the licensed criteria choose regulated private treatment rather than waiting. If you think you qualify for NHS treatment, ask your GP. The September 2025 list-price change affects private prescriptions, and it is a separate matter from how the NHS commissions the medicine.

Private treatment is licensed for adults with a BMI of 30 or above, or between 27 and 30 with at least one weight-related condition such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, obstructive sleep apnoea, cardiovascular disease, prediabetes or type 2 diabetes. It is used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity.¹¹¹ Thresholds are usually reduced by 2.5 kg/m² for people from South Asian, Chinese, other Asian, Middle Eastern, Black African or African-Caribbean backgrounds.⁴

08 · Cutting cost safely

How do you keep the cost down without taking risks?

The safe ways to manage cost are to compare the same dose across providers and use the discounts that apply. Cutting corners with the medicine itself is where the real risk lies.

Mounjaro is licensed as a once-weekly medicine, and its blood levels are designed around a 7-day cycle.

Why a very low price should worry you

The MHRA has seized thousands of fake weight-loss pens in the UK and has issued alerts after falsified Mounjaro pens were identified. Fake pens have caused hospitalisations, and some contained insulin rather than tirzepatide.⁷ Only buy from a pharmacy you can find on the GPhC register, never from social media, beauty salons or unverified websites. Genuine treatment always involves a prescription and a clinical consultation.¹²

A genuine UK pen comes from a registered pharmacy with a batch number and expiry date, arrives cold-chain packaged, and the solution inside is clear and colourless. 09 · What the cost buys

What do you get for the money?

The price buys a prescription treatment with trial evidence behind it. In the SURMOUNT-1 trial of 2,539 adults, people taking tirzepatide alongside diet and exercise lost on average 15% of their body weight on 5mg, 19.5% on 10mg and 20.9% on 15mg over 72 weeks, compared with 3.1% with lifestyle changes alone.² These are trial averages. Individual results vary, and treatment works alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity, not instead of them.

For someone starting at 100 kg, 20.9% is about 21 kg. Weight loss is gradual by design, and the first weeks on 2.5mg are an adjustment phase. Most measurable progress builds from 5mg onward, month by month. Trials measured results at 72 weeks, so think in months rather than days. If you have lost less than 5% of your starting weight after 6 months on the highest dose you can tolerate, your prescriber will discuss whether continuing or stopping is right for you.²
