Prescribing and Dispensing Policy

This policy outlines how EveryDayMeds, operated by OVIO LTD, safely and legally prescribes and dispenses medicines in line with UK clinical and regulatory standards.

1. Who Can Prescribe

Prescriptions are issued only by registered UK healthcare professionals, including:

  • Pharmacist Independent Prescribers (PIPs) registered with the GPhC
  • Doctors registered with the GMC (where applicable)
  • Other professionals registered with a UK regulatory body and authorised to prescribe under UK law

2. Clinical Assessment Process

All prescribing decisions are based on structured online consultations reviewed by a qualified prescriber. The assessment includes:

  • Medical history
  • Current symptoms
  • Medication history
  • Allergies and contraindications

If necessary, prescribers may request further information or access the patient’s NHS Summary Care Record with consent.

3. Medicines We Supply

We may supply:

  • General Sale List (GSL) medicines
  • Pharmacy (P) medicines
  • Prescription Only Medicines (POMs) via private prescription

Controlled Drugs (CDs) and high-risk medicines are subject to strict review and safeguards.

4. Dispensing Standards

All medicines are dispensed from a GPhC-registered pharmacy in accordance with:

  • GPhC Standards for Registered Pharmacies
  • Human Medicines Regulations 2012
  • Current NICE and MHRA guidance

5. Clinical Oversight

The Superintendent Pharmacist oversees all dispensing activities, ensuring:

  • Accuracy checks before dispatch
  • Labelling with patient name and dosage instructions
  • Inclusion of manufacturer’s patient information leaflets

6. Refusal to Prescribe or Supply

We reserve the right to refuse any prescription or supply if:

  • We believe it is clinically unsafe
  • We suspect misuse or fraud
  • The information provided is incomplete or false

In such cases, patients will be referred to their GP or appropriate NHS services.

7. Record Keeping

We maintain detailed records of all consultations, prescriptions, dispensing activity, and clinical decisions in accordance with GPhC and GDPR standards.
