Inositol and Mounjaro Together: What UK Patients Should Know (October 2026)

Inositol is a supplement, not a licensed medicine, and Mounjaro (tirzepatide) is a prescription-only weekly injection. Many people ask because of PCOS or insulin resistance, and that is worth raising in your consultation.

A quick overview

What to know
before you start.

  • Mounjaro is a prescription medicine; inositol is a supplement with no licensed status, so the two are regulated very differently.
  • Tell your prescriber about every supplement you take, especially if you also use insulin or sulfonylureas.
  • Neither product replaces a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity.
  • Report any new or worrying symptom to your prescriber and through the Yellow Card scheme.
In this guide

01 · The core answer

Can you take inositol and Mounjaro together?

No supplement is required with Mounjaro, and oral supplements, like other oral products, may be absorbed more slowly when you start treatment, so discuss anything you take with a pharmacist or your prescriber.

If you are on insulin or sulfonylureas, doses may need adjusting because of the risk of low blood sugar. That is a conversation for your prescriber, not a reason to stop or start anything on your own.

02 · Your next step

What to do next

Tell the prescriber reviewing your treatment exactly what you take, including the form and brand of inositol. Our consultation is free and reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber, and monthly reviews let you revisit supplements as your dose changes. If you are not yet a patient, the Mounjaro pen prices and consultation page explains how to start, and our weight loss clinic covers the wider options.

For related questions, see our guide on myo-inositol specifically.

03 · What Mounjaro is

What Mounjaro is and how it works

Mounjaro is the brand name for tirzepatide, a once-weekly injectable prescription medicine made by Eli Lilly. In the UK it is licensed for weight management in adults and for type 2 diabetes.1 It activates two natural gut-hormone receptors at once, GIP and GLP-1. Together these help regulate appetite, slow stomach emptying and improve the way the body responds to insulin.11

Because tirzepatide has a half-life of about five days, it takes roughly four to five weeks to clear the system after a final dose.1 That matters if you ever want to judge whether a symptom comes from a supplement or the injection.

04 · Inositol is a supplement

Where inositol fits

Inositol is sold as a low-cost supplement, often for PCOS or insulin resistance. It is not a replacement for Mounjaro and it is not a GLP-1 medicine; our guide on whether inositol is a GLP-1 explains the difference. Supplement dosing is not standardised, and products vary between brands.

Supplements do not go through the same licensing as medicines. That does not make them dangerous, but it does mean the evidence behind big claims is usually far weaker than for licensed treatments.

05 · Common questions answered

Estrogen, cortisol and belly fat

If hormones are a concern, your GP or prescriber is the right person to discuss it with.

In SURMOUNT-1, people taking tirzepatide alongside diet and exercise lost on average more body weight than with lifestyle changes alone, and individual results vary.2 Treatment works alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity, not instead of them.

06 · Other combinations

Other things to check before combining

Think about everything you take, not just inositol. Mounjaro slows stomach emptying, which can reduce how well oral contraceptive pills are absorbed, so ask your prescriber about contraception.7 The SmPC advises switching to a non-oral method, or adding a barrier method (such as condoms), for 4 weeks after starting Mounjaro and for 4 weeks after each dose increase.1 See also our guides on Mounjaro with glipizide, GHK-Cu with tirzepatide and taking inositol while on Mounjaro.

Mounjaro is a prescription-only medicine, supplied only after an online consultation reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber. It is used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity. Individual results vary. This page is information, not a substitute for medical advice.1 Seek immediate medical help for severe, persistent stomach pain that may spread to your back, with or without vomiting (possible pancreatitis); pain in the upper right abdomen, fever or yellowing of skin or eyes (possible gallbladder problems); or signs of a severe allergic reaction such as swelling of the face or throat and difficulty breathing.

How ordering works

How ordering works at EverydayMeds

Three steps, with our pharmacy team alongside you.

  1. EverydayMeds online consultation on a mobile phone

    Step 1: Online consultation — 5–10 minutes

Complete a confidential health questionnaire covering BMI, medical history and current medication. No payment is taken until you're approved.

  2. A clinician ready to review an online consultation

Step 2: Prescriber review — usually same day

A UK registered prescriber checks your suitability against the licensed criteria (BMI ≥30, or ≥27 with a weight-related condition) and contraindications, and confirms your starting dose.

  3. An EverydayMeds delivery box

    Step 3: Next-day tracked delivery

Dispensed by our GPhC-registered pharmacy in temperature-controlled packaging with needles and a sharps bin included. Orders approved by 3pm for next-day tracked delivery.

Your questions, answered

Mounjaro price UK — frequently asked questions

Answers to common questions about Mounjaro prices, NHS access and ongoing treatment.

Ask our pharmacy team
Can I take inositol and Mounjaro together?
Inositol is a supplement and Mounjaro is a prescription medicine. Tell your prescriber and pharmacist about the inositol you use, including the brand, so they can review it alongside your treatment and any other medicines.
Can I take inositol with GLP-1 medicines?
Inositol is not itself a GLP-1 medicine. Ask your prescriber before combining them, particularly if you take insulin or sulfonylureas, where doses may need adjusting because of the risk of low blood sugar.
What medications cannot be taken with Mounjaro?
Mounjaro must not be combined with other GLP-1 medicines, unlicensed "research" peptides or compounded copies, and several other medicines need review. Insulin and sulfonylureas may need dose adjustments because of low blood sugar risk, and Mounjaro can reduce absorption of oral contraceptives. If you take the pill, switch to a non-oral method, or add a barrier method such as condoms, for 4 weeks after starting Mounjaro and for 4 weeks after each dose increase. Always give your prescriber a full list of medicines and supplements before starting treatment.
Does inositol raise estrogen?
If you have a hormone-related condition such as PCOS, discuss any supplement with your GP or prescriber, who can consider your full history and treatment.
Can inositol reduce belly fat or lower cortisol?
Inositol is a low-cost supplement without the licensing or evidence base of weight-management medicines. Licensed treatment works alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity, and your prescriber can discuss realistic options.
Is it bad to take inositol every day?
Follow the product label, and ask your GP or pharmacist if you are unsure, especially when you also take prescription medicines such as Mounjaro.
What should I do if I feel unwell after combining them?
Contact your prescriber or pharmacist and describe what you take and when symptoms started. Because tirzepatide takes about four to five weeks to clear, timing can be hard to untangle. You can also report suspected side effects through the Yellow Card scheme. Get medical help straight away for severe, persistent stomach pain, yellowing of the skin or eyes, swelling of the face, lips or throat, or difficulty breathing.
