In this guide

01 · The basics

What does a weight loss medical clinic do?

A weight loss medical clinic provides a clinical assessment and, where suitable, prescription treatment under medical supervision. The first step is an initial consultation covering your weight, medical history, blood pressure readings if you have them, and the medicines you take now.

If treatment is appropriate, the prescriber chooses a medicine and a starting dose, then reviews you as you go. Mounjaro, for example, is a once-weekly injection that must be used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity.1

Good clinics also offer follow-up, side-effect support and advice on eating habits and daily routine. These matter for long term success, because medication works alongside lifestyle changes rather than replacing them.

02 · Comparing options

In-person clinic, online pharmacy or NHS?

The right route depends on how you prefer to be seen, how quickly you want to start and whether you qualify for NHS care.

RouteHow you are assessedWho it suits
NHS weight managementThrough your GP or a specialist servicePeople who meet the phased NHS criteria and can wait for access
High-street or local private clinicFace-to-face appointment, often with set opening hoursPeople who want in-person contact
Online GPhC-registered pharmacyOnline questionnaire reviewed by a prescriberPeople who want flexible times and home delivery

Our online clinic guide explains what to look for, and the average cost of a medical weight loss clinic page covers typical pricing structures.

03 · Cost

How much does a medical weight loss clinic cost?

Costs depend on the medicine, the dose and whether consultation or review fees are added. With us the consultation is free and the price shown is the price paid, with no hidden fees.

The Mounjaro pen is priced by strength. A 2.5mg pen is £169.99 at standard price and your first order is £40 less with code FIRST40. Every later order is £25 off the standard price (code DOSE25). The first four pens, from 2.5mg to 10mg, total £959.96 at standard prices, before those discounts.

For planning, a first year costs £2,711.88 if you stay on 5mg after your 2.5mg starting pen, up to £3,599.88 if you step up through every dose to 15mg, at standard prices. A new customer's first order is £40 less and every later order £25 less. All six doses are in stock.

You can pay by Visa, Mastercard or Klarna, with pay-monthly options and no subscription. Our full Mounjaro ordering page has current details; Buy Mounjaro shows the latest doses.

04 · Who qualifies

Who qualifies for medical weight loss treatment?

Mounjaro is licensed for adults with a BMI of 30 or above, or a BMI between 27 and 30 with at least one weight-related condition. Examples include high blood pressure, high cholesterol, obstructive sleep apnoea, cardiovascular disease, prediabetes or type 2 diabetes.1

It must be used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity. A prescriber assesses your BMI, medical history and current medicines before deciding whether it is suitable.1

05 · NHS or private

NHS or private: the honest picture

Mounjaro is available on the NHS, but access is being phased in over several years. NICE recommends it for adults with a BMI of at least 35 plus at least one weight-related condition.4

The NHS primary-care rollout began in June 2025 with the highest-need groups first, initially BMI 40+ with four or more qualifying conditions. Full rollout is expected to take years, which is why many people who meet the licensed criteria choose regulated private treatment rather than waiting.6

Ask your GP about your own eligibility. If you are not yet eligible, a private route is a decision for you and a prescriber. Mounjaro must not be used during pregnancy, and it should be stopped at least one month before trying to conceive. If you become pregnant during treatment, stop the medicine and tell your prescriber promptly.

06 · How it works

How the medicine works

Tirzepatide activates two natural gut-hormone receptors at once, GIP and GLP-1. Together these help regulate appetite, slow how quickly the stomach empties (gastric emptying) and improve the way the body responds to insulin.1

In practice most people feel fuller sooner and less hungry between meals, which supports a reduced-calorie diet. Tirzepatide has a half-life of about five days, so after a final dose it takes roughly 4–5 weeks to clear the system.1

It comes as a pre-filled multi-dose KwikPen in six strengths: 2.5mg, 5mg, 7.5mg, 10mg, 12.5mg and 15mg.1 See also our guide to weight loss clinic injections. Mounjaro slows stomach emptying, which can reduce how well oral contraceptive pills are absorbed. The SmPC advises switching to a non-oral method, or adding a barrier method (such as condoms), for 4 weeks after starting Mounjaro and for 4 weeks after each dose increase. This applies to the pill only — implants, coils and injections are unaffected.

07 · What trials show

What do the trials show?

In SURMOUNT-1, 2,539 adults taking tirzepatide alongside diet and exercise lost on average 15% of body weight on 5mg, 19.5% on 10mg and 20.9% on 15mg over 72 weeks, compared with 3.1% with lifestyle changes alone.2

For someone starting at 100 kg, 20.9% is about 21 kg. These are trial averages, and individual results vary. Treatment works alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity, not instead of them.2

At 72 weeks, 85% of participants on 5mg, 89% on 10mg and 91% on 15mg had lost at least 5% of their body weight. Half of participants on 10mg and 57% on 15mg lost at least 20%.2 Mounjaro can cause side effects, mostly digestive. Seek immediate medical help for severe, persistent stomach pain that may spread to your back, with or without vomiting (possible pancreatitis); pain in the upper right abdomen, fever or yellowing of skin/eyes (possible gallbladder problems); or signs of a severe allergic reaction such as swelling of the face or throat and difficulty breathing.

08 · Choosing a provider

How to choose a weight loss clinic

Check registration first. Our pharmacy is on the GPhC register (9012878), which you can verify on the GPhC register.12

Then ask practical questions:

  • Is every order reviewed by a prescriber, not a scoring script?
  • Is the consultation free, and is the price you see the price you pay?
  • Is the medicine sourced from the manufacturer's UK distribution? Ours comes through official LillyDirect supply.
  • Are monthly reviews and side-effect support included?
  • Does a repeat order re-check suitability, with no auto-shipping?

Be wary of anyone offering to supply without a consultation or prescription. Report suspected counterfeit medicines or side effects through the MHRA Yellow Card scheme.7

Whether you live near Stoke, in Essex or elsewhere, an online service works the same wherever you live in the UK.

09 · Ordering with us

How ordering works

The process has four steps, and you can start your free consultation at any time.

  • Free online consultation: a short health questionnaire, no charge and no obligation.
  • Prescriber review: reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber. Payment is taken when you place the order; if the prescriber decides the treatment is not suitable, the order is refunded automatically in full.
  • Dispensing and dispatch: dispensed by our registered pharmacy, with same-day dispatch when ordered by 3pm.
  • Delivery: free next-day tracked delivery in discreet, temperature-controlled packaging. Saturday delivery is £14.99.

Needles, a sharps bin and injection guidance are included with every order. Support is available Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, on 0333 207 0413 or at support@everydaymeds.co.uk. The free GLPTrackr app helps you track your journey. New customers save £40 on their first order with code FIRST40, and an automatic £25 reorder discount applies to every future order (code DOSE25). You can also browse all weight loss treatments.

Other procedures exist too; see medical procedures for weight loss. If you are a professional, see opening a medical weight loss clinic and our online health guide. Mounjaro is a prescription-only medicine, supplied only after an online consultation reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber. Individual results vary. This page is information, not a substitute for medical advice.

Your questions, answered

Mounjaro price UK — frequently asked questions

Answers to common questions about Mounjaro prices, NHS access and ongoing treatment.

Ask our pharmacy team
What is a weight loss medical clinic?
It is a service where a qualified prescriber carries out a clinical assessment of your weight, medical history and current medicines, then decides whether prescription treatment is suitable. Follow-up reviews are part of the programme, and treatment is used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity.
Is a weight loss clinic worth it?
It can be if it offers a genuine clinical assessment, a registered prescriber and ongoing review. Treatment works alongside diet and activity, and individual results vary. Check the pharmacy's GPhC registration, whether the consultation is free and whether the price you see is the price you pay.
What qualifies for weight loss treatment on the NHS?
NICE recommends Mounjaro for adults with a BMI of at least 35 plus at least one weight-related condition. The primary-care rollout began in June 2025 with the highest-need groups first, initially BMI 40+ with four or more qualifying conditions. Full rollout is expected to take years.
Can I get Mounjaro privately?
Yes. After a free online consultation reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber, Mounjaro can be prescribed privately if suitable. It is licensed for a BMI of 30+, or 27–30 with a weight-related condition. Your first 2.5mg pen is £129.99 with code FIRST40; standard price £169.99.
How much weight can you lose on Mounjaro in 3 months?
Three months in, most people are still on the lower rungs of the dose ladder, so trial-average losses at this stage are modest compared with the headline figures. In SURMOUNT-1, average weight loss built month by month, with the full 15–21% averages measured at 72 weeks, not 12. A sensible 3-month expectation on a standard titration is mid single digits as a percentage of body weight, with wide individual variation. Slower early progress does not predict failure — the dose you respond to may still be ahead of you.
Do I need to visit a clinic in person?
Not with our service. The consultation is an online questionnaire reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber, and medicine is delivered free next day in discreet, temperature-controlled packaging. Ongoing monthly reviews and side-effect support are handled by our prescribing team.
How does Mounjaro help with weight loss?
Tirzepatide activates the GIP and GLP-1 receptors, which help regulate appetite, slow how quickly the stomach empties and improve how the body responds to insulin. Most people feel fuller sooner and less hungry between meals, which supports a reduced-calorie diet.
