A quick overview

What to know
before you start.

  • The main cost of a self-pay program is the medicine itself. Our consultation is free, and the price shown is the price paid.
  • One Mounjaro pen covers four weekly doses. The standard price runs from £169.99 at 2.5mg to £329.99 at 15mg.
  • If you step up after 4 weeks on each dose, your first four pens (2.5mg to 10mg) cost £959.96 at standard prices, before discounts.
  • A first year costs £2,711.88 if you settle at 5mg, up to £3,599.88 at 15mg, before discounts.
  • Beware of very low prices or sellers who skip the prescription. Fake pens have caused hospitalisations.
In this guide

01 · The cost

What a self-pay supervised program costs

Our program costs the price of the pen, because the consultation and the monthly clinical reviews are not billed separately. The Mounjaro pen costs £169.99 at the 2.5mg starting dose, £218.99 at 5mg, £279.99 at 7.5mg and £290.99 at 10mg. At 12.5mg it is £319.99, and at 15mg it is £329.99. Each pen is one month, meaning four weekly doses.

Your first order has a new-customer discount of £40 at any dose with code FIRST40. That makes your first 2.5mg pen £129.99. If you are switching to us at 15mg, your first order is £289.99. Every later order is £25 off the standard price (code DOSE25). You can see how the offers work on our Mounjaro discount code page.

Online sellers often quote a low headline fee and add the rest later. We do not: the consultation is free, there are no hidden fees, and there is no subscription. You can pay by Visa, Mastercard, Klarna or pay-monthly options. All six doses are in stock, and the pen is dispatched the same day if you order by 3pm.

02 · Planning

What a year of treatment adds up to

Most people want to know the total before they start, because the dose rises over the first months. The table shows the planning figures at standard prices, before discounts.

StageLengthPensCost at standard prices
If you step up after 4 weeks on each dose: 2.5mg, 5mg, 7.5mg, 10mg—4£959.96
First year, settling at 5mg52 weeks13£2,711.88
First year, settling at 15mg52 weeks13£3,599.88
Settling at 7.5mg, 10mg or 12.5mgper month1£279.99, £290.99 or £319.99

A new customer's first order is £40 less, and every later order is £25 less. Your prescriber chooses the dose that suits you, so the maintenance dose, and therefore your annual cost, is not something to decide in advance. For a wider view, see our guide to the total cost of a medically supervised weight loss program.

03 · Comparing providers

How to compare self-pay programs fairly

Compare the cost of the first month, the cost at your likely maintenance dose, and what follow-up is included. Across the UK pharmacies we track, a Mounjaro pen ranges from £143.96 to £339.00 per month depending on dose and provider (checked 10 October 2026), at standard prices. For the 2.5mg starting pen alone, the range is £143.96 to £179.99. The gap between providers for the same dose runs from £27 to £41. Boots' Mounjaro doses range from £179.00 to £339.00.

When you compare, ask four questions:

  • Is the consultation free, or billed on top of the pen?
  • Are follow-up reviews and dose changes included?
  • Is the pharmacy on the GPhC register, with a registration number you can check?
  • Does the price cover delivery in temperature-controlled packaging?

We cover these points for other budgets in our guides to low cost cash-pay options and the cost of a medical weight loss program.

04 · What supervision includes

What medical supervision should include

Real supervision means a prescriber decides whether the medicine is suitable, then keeps reviewing it. With us, the journey starts with a free online consultation, a short health questionnaire with no charge and no obligation. A GPhC-registered prescriber then reviews it, rather than a scoring script. Payment is taken when you place the order; if the prescriber decides the treatment is not suitable, the order is refunded automatically in full.

After that, our prescribing team carries out monthly reviews, dose-titration and follow-up assessments, with side-effect support. Repeat orders re-check suitability, and nothing ships automatically. Support is available Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, by email, account portal chat or phone on 0333 207 0413.

In clinical terms, a prescriber will assess your BMI, medical history and current medicines before deciding whether Mounjaro is suitable.1 Dosing information is also set out in the BNF.11 Our free start your free consultation page is the quickest way to begin. You can also read how medically supervised weight loss programs differ in format.

05 · Who is eligible

Who can be prescribed Mounjaro privately

Mounjaro is licensed for weight management in adults with a BMI of 30 or above, or a BMI between 27 and 30 with at least one weight-related condition. Examples are high blood pressure, high cholesterol, obstructive sleep apnoea, cardiovascular disease, prediabetes or type 2 diabetes. It must be used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity.1

The NHS route is narrower. Mounjaro is available on the NHS, but access is being phased in over several years. NICE recommends it for adults with a BMI of at least 35 plus at least one weight-related condition. The primary-care rollout began in June 2025 with the highest-need groups first, initially BMI 40+ with four or more qualifying conditions.46 Full rollout is expected to take years, which is why many people who meet the licensed criteria choose regulated private treatment rather than waiting. Our guide to free supervised weight loss versus private cost sets the two routes side by side.

06 · What the medicine does

What you get for the money

Mounjaro is the brand name for tirzepatide, a once-weekly injection made by Eli Lilly. It activates two gut-hormone receptors, GIP and GLP-1, which helps regulate appetite and slows how quickly the stomach empties. Most people feel fuller sooner and less hungry between meals, which supports a reduced-calorie diet.1

In the SURMOUNT-1 trial of 2,539 adults, people taking tirzepatide alongside diet and exercise lost on average 15% of their body weight on 5mg, 19.5% on 10mg and 20.9% on 15mg over 72 weeks. People on lifestyle changes alone lost 3.1%. These are trial averages and individual results vary. Treatment works alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity, not instead of them.2

At 72 weeks, 85% of participants on 5mg, 89% on 10mg and 91% on 15mg had lost at least 5% of their body weight.2 Trial averages do not predict your own result, so judge cost against a realistic, supervised plan. A higher dose is not automatically better for you. Your prescriber chooses the dose with you.

07 · Ways costs creep up

Where self-pay costs creep up

The common surprises are separate consultation fees, charges for each dose change, and paid reviews. Check each provider's terms. A pen holds exactly four weekly doses, so plan on one pen per month.

08 · Avoiding fake pens

Why a very low price can cost you more

The MHRA has seized thousands of fake weight-loss pens in the UK and has issued alerts after falsified Mounjaro pens were identified. Fake pens have caused hospitalisations, and some contained insulin rather than tirzepatide.7 Only buy from a pharmacy you can verify on the GPhC register, never from social media, beauty salons or unverified websites. Genuine treatment always involves a prescription and a clinical consultation.12

Our GPhC registration number is 9012878, and you can look it up on the register. Our Mounjaro is supplied through official LillyDirect supply, direct from Eli Lilly's UK distribution. A genuine pen comes with a batch number and expiry date, arrives cold-chain packaged, and the solution inside is clear and colourless. Do not use a pen that has been frozen, looks cloudy or discoloured, has particles in it, is past its expiry, or has been above 30°C. Once in use, a pen can be kept out of the fridge at a temperature not above 30°C for up to 30 days, and must then be thrown away. If anything looks wrong, contact the pharmacy before injecting. Report any suspected side effect through the Yellow Card scheme.

09 · How to order

How ordering works

Ordering takes three steps, and payment is taken when you place the order.

  • Free online consultation. A short health questionnaire, with no charge and no obligation.
  • Prescriber review. A GPhC-registered prescriber reviews it. If the order is unsuitable, it is refunded automatically in full.
  • Dispensing and delivery. Our registered pharmacy dispenses the pen. It is dispatched the same day when ordered by 3pm, with free next-day tracked delivery in discreet, temperature-controlled packaging. Saturday delivery is £14.99.

Needles, a sharps bin and injection guidance come with every order. Our free GLPTrackr app helps you log doses and progress. Refunds for declined consultations take 5 to 10 working days. Dispensed prescription medicines cannot be returned unless faulty, damaged or the wrong item, which you must report within 3 days. See all weight loss treatments we offer, or compare weight loss self-injections and our top-rated supervised options.

Mounjaro (tirzepatide) is a prescription-only medicine, supplied only after an online consultation reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber. Individual results vary. This page is information, not a substitute for medical advice.

Your questions, answered

Mounjaro price UK — frequently asked questions

Answers to common questions about Mounjaro prices, NHS access and ongoing treatment.

Ask our pharmacy team
What is the cheapest medical weight loss program?
The lowest monthly cost is usually the starting dose, because the price rises with the dose. Our 2.5mg pen is £169.99 at the standard price, and a new customer's first one is £129.99 with code FIRST40. Compare providers on consultation fees, follow-up and whether the pharmacy is on the GPhC register, not just the headline price.
What is the average price for a weight loss program?
It depends on the medicine and the dose. Across the UK pharmacies we track, a Mounjaro pen ranges from £143.96 to £339.00 per month depending on dose and provider (checked 10 October 2026). Ask whether consultations and reviews are included, because separate fees are what push the total above the pen price.
What are the criteria for Mounjaro on the NHS?
NICE recommends Mounjaro for adults with a BMI of at least 35 plus at least one weight-related condition. The primary-care rollout began in June 2025 with the highest-need groups first, initially BMI 40+ with four or more qualifying conditions. Access is being phased in over several years, so ask your GP where you fall.
Is GLP-1 the same as Mounjaro?
No. GLP-1 is one gut-hormone receptor, and Mounjaro (tirzepatide) activates both GIP and GLP-1 receptors at once. That dual action distinguishes it from single-action GLP-1 medicines such as semaglutide (Wegovy). Ozempic is semaglutide licensed for type 2 diabetes only, not a UK weight-loss medicine. Both types are prescription medicines, and a prescriber decides which suits you.
Which GLP-1 is best for weight loss in the UK?
There is no single best option for everyone. Mounjaro and Wegovy are both licensed for weight management, and the right choice depends on your health, medicines and preferences. A GPhC-registered prescriber can discuss options in a free consultation. Compare cost, dosing and follow-up alongside the clinical picture.
Who cannot take GLP-1 medicines?
Mounjaro is not suitable for everyone. You should not take it if you are allergic to tirzepatide or any of its ingredients, and it should not be used during pregnancy or while trying to conceive. Mounjaro must not be used during pregnancy, and it should be stopped at least one month before trying to conceive. If you become pregnant during treatment, stop the medicine and tell your prescriber promptly. Your prescriber will take extra care, or may recommend against treatment, if you have a history of pancreatitis, severe gut or digestive disease, diabetic retinopathy, or gallbladder problems. Always share your full medical history and medicine list during consultation. If the order is unsuitable, it is refunded automatically. Report any suspected side effect through the Yellow Card scheme. Seek immediate medical help for severe, persistent stomach pain that may spread to your back, with or without vomiting (possible pancreatitis); pain in the upper right abdomen, fever or yellowing of skin or eyes (possible gallbladder problems); or signs of a severe allergic reaction such as swelling of the face or throat and difficulty breathing.
Are there hidden fees in a self-pay program with you?
No. The consultation is free, and the price shown is the price paid. Ongoing monthly clinical reviews are part of the service, and there is no subscription. The costs to plan for are the pen at your dose and, if you want it, Saturday delivery at £14.99. Standard delivery is free next-day tracked.
