A quick overview

What to know
before you start.

  • Medical supervision means a GPhC-registered prescriber assesses you, prescribes, adjusts your dose and reviews your progress.
  • Licensed medicines work alongside a reduced-calorie diet and more physical activity, not instead of them.
  • NHS access to Mounjaro is being phased in over several years, so many suitable adults look at regulated private care.
  • Judge any program on follow-up, named medicines and a real prescription, not on promises of dramatic results.
  • Our free consultation is reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber, with ongoing monthly reviews included.
In this guide

01 · The core answer

What is a medically supervised weight loss program?

It is a structured plan in which a qualified clinician decides whether a medicine is right for you, prescribes it, and keeps checking how you respond. For weight management that usually means a GLP-1 type injection such as Mounjaro (tirzepatide), used with diet and activity changes.1

A genuine program always involves a prescription and a clinical consultation.7 If a seller offers to supply without a consultation or prescription, it is not supervised care. Our guide to medically managed weight loss goes deeper on the clinical side.

02 · Your decision

NHS or private: which route is relevant to you?

Mounjaro is available on the NHS, but access is being phased in over several years.4 NICE recommends it for adults with a BMI of at least 35 plus at least one weight-related condition, and the NHS primary-care rollout began in June 2025 with the highest-need groups first (initially BMI 40+ with four or more qualifying conditions).6 Ask your GP where you sit in the rollout.

If you meet the licensed criteria and prefer not to wait, regulated private treatment is the alternative. The weight loss clinic page explains how our service works, and our guide to free versus private supervised options compares the routes. Costs are covered in our total cost breakdown.

03 · What a good program includes

What a good program includes

Look for five things: a proper health assessment, a named licensed medicine, a clear dose plan, scheduled reviews and side-effect support. Everyone starts Mounjaro on 2.5mg once a week, and the dose can then step up gradually to a maximum of 15mg weekly depending on response and tolerance.1

Many people settle at a maintenance dose of 5mg, 10mg or 15mg, and higher is not automatically better. Your prescriber guides the pace.11

With us, a free online consultation is reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber. Unsuitable orders are refunded automatically, and ongoing monthly reviews are included. Repeat orders re-check suitability, with no auto-shipping.

04 · Does it work?

Does medically supervised weight loss work?

In the SURMOUNT-1 trial of 2,539 adults, people taking tirzepatide alongside diet and exercise lost on average 15% of their body weight on 5mg, 19.5% on 10mg and 20.9% on 15mg over 72 weeks, compared with 3.1% with lifestyle changes alone.2 These are trial averages, individual results vary, and treatment works alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity, not instead of them.2

Progress is gradual by design. Think in months, not days, and judge progress by trend rather than individual weigh-ins.1 Supervision matters because your prescriber reviews response and decides whether to continue, adjust or stop. Serious side effects are uncommon but need urgent attention. Seek immediate medical help for severe, persistent stomach pain that may spread to your back, with or without vomiting (possible pancreatitis); pain in the upper right abdomen, fever or yellowing of the skin or eyes (possible gallbladder problems); or signs of a severe allergic reaction such as swelling of the face or throat and difficulty breathing.

05 · Spotting unsafe offers

How to spot unsafe offers

The MHRA has seized thousands of fake weight-loss pens in the UK and has issued alerts after falsified Mounjaro pens were identified. Fake pens have caused hospitalisations, and some contained insulin rather than tirzepatide.7

Only buy from a pharmacy you can verify on the GPhC register, never from social media, beauty salons or unverified websites.12 We are registered as GPhC 9012878 and supply Mounjaro through official LillyDirect supply.

If cost is a concern, see our comparison of low-cost cash-pay options for regulated ways to manage it.

06 · Choosing a provider

Choosing a provider

Compare providers on clinical follow-up first and price second. Our pages on top-rated supervised programs and medical weight loss programs set out what to compare, and the GLP-1 program guide shows what a typical journey involves.

On cost, your first 2.5mg pen costs £129.99 with code FIRST40 (standard price £169.99), and every later order is £25 off the standard price (code DOSE25). Consultation is free, delivery is free next-day and tracked, and there is no subscription lock-in.

How ordering works

How ordering works at EverydayMeds

Three steps, with our pharmacy team alongside you.

  1. EverydayMeds online consultation on a mobile phone

    Step 1: Online consultation — 5–10 minutes

Complete a confidential health questionnaire covering BMI, medical history and current medication. No payment is taken until you're approved.

  2. A clinician ready to review an online consultation

Step 2: Prescriber review — usually same day

A UK registered prescriber checks your suitability against the licensed criteria (BMI ≥30, or ≥27 with a weight-related condition) and contraindications, and confirms your starting dose.

  3. An EverydayMeds delivery box

    Step 3: Next-day tracked delivery

Dispensed by our GPhC-registered pharmacy in temperature-controlled packaging with needles and a sharps bin included. Orders approved by 3pm for next-day tracked delivery.

Start your free consultation

Prescription and dispatch follow clinical approval. Confirm current delivery options when ordering.

Afterwards you're not on your own: dose-change reviews are built in before each step up, our pharmacist team is available for side-effect questions, and repeat orders re-check suitability rather than auto-shipping.

Your questions, answered

Mounjaro price UK — frequently asked questions

Answers to common questions about Mounjaro prices, NHS access and ongoing treatment.

Ask our pharmacy team
What is a medically supervised weight loss program?
It is a plan led by a regulated clinician who assesses your health, prescribes a licensed medicine if suitable, adjusts your dose and reviews your progress. It sits alongside a reduced-calorie diet and more physical activity. In the UK it can be delivered through the NHS or a registered private pharmacy.
What are the criteria for Mounjaro on the NHS?
NICE recommends it for adults with a BMI of at least 35 plus at least one weight-related condition. The primary-care rollout began in June 2025 with the highest-need groups first, initially BMI 40+ with four or more qualifying conditions. Access is being phased in over several years, so ask your GP.
Does medically supervised weight loss work?
In the SURMOUNT-1 trial, people taking tirzepatide alongside diet and exercise lost on average 15% of body weight on 5mg, 19.5% on 10mg and 20.9% on 15mg over 72 weeks, versus 3.1% with lifestyle changes alone. These are trial averages, and individual results vary.
How much does medically supervised weight loss cost?
It depends on the medicine and dose. With us, the consultation is free and a 2.5mg starter pen has a standard price of £169.99. A new customer's first order is £40 off with code FIRST40. See our self-pay cost guide for more.
What is a cheaper alternative to Mounjaro in the UK?
There is no tablet form of Mounjaro, and "natural GLP-1" supplements such as berberine are not medicines and have no comparable trial evidence. Never stretch or space out doses to save money, as this is unlicensed. Talk to your prescriber about regulated options.
Why are people stopping Wegovy?
Reasons for reviewing treatment can include side effects, cost or a prescriber's response review. If you are considering stopping any weight loss medicine, speak to your prescriber first so the decision is planned.
How long does it take to see results?
Weight loss on Mounjaro is gradual by design. The first weeks on 2.5mg are an adjustment phase and losses are usually modest, with most measurable progress building from 5mg onward, month by month. Judge progress by trend, not individual weigh-ins. Your prescriber reviews response: if you have lost less than 5% of your starting weight after 6 months on the highest dose you can tolerate, they will discuss whether continuing or stopping is right for you.
