A quick overview
What to know
before you start.
-
The patient-facing NHS price is the standard prescription charge of £9.90 per item in England, or free in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland and for exempt patients.
-
The price is only half the question: NHS access is phased over several years, so eligibility decides whether you can get it at all.
-
Privately, the standard 2.5mg pen is £169.99 per month; new customers get £40 off a first order and £25 off every later one.
-
Across the UK pharmacies we track, Mounjaro pens range from £143.96 to £319.99 per month (checked 24 October 2026).
In this guide
01 · NHS cost to you
What you pay for Mounjaro on the NHS
If you are prescribed Mounjaro through the NHS in England, you pay the standard NHS prescription charge of £9.90 per item, unless you hold an exemption or a prepayment certificate. In Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, NHS prescriptions are free. That is the whole patient-facing price: the NHS does not add a separate fee for the drug itself.
Getting that prescription is the hard part. Mounjaro is available on the NHS, but access is being phased in over several years. NICE recommends it for adults with a BMI of at least 35 plus at least one weight-related condition, and the NHS primary-care rollout began in June 2025 with the highest-need groups first, initially BMI 40+ with four or more qualifying conditions.46 Full rollout is expected to take years.
So a low price on paper does not mean an appointment this month. Our guide to NHS qualification criteria walks through who is being prioritised, and whether you can get Mounjaro on the NHS covers how to raise it with your GP.
02 · Cost to the NHS
How much does Mounjaro cost the NHS?
Eli Lilly announced a UK list-price increase for Mounjaro on 14 August 2025, effective 1 September 2025.
List price is Lilly's published figure. Pharmacy sell prices vary because of confidential discounts.
For a fuller breakdown, see our NHS Mounjaro pricing guide and the page on monthly cost on the NHS.
| Route | What you pay | Who it suits |
|---|---|---|
| NHS, England | £9.90 prescription charge per item, unless exempt | Those meeting the current NHS rollout criteria |
| NHS, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland | Free prescription | Those meeting local criteria as services phase in |
| Private, regulated online pharmacy | From £169.99 per month at 2.5mg (standard price) | Adults who meet the licensed criteria but are not yet reached by the NHS |
03 · Private alternative
What private Mounjaro costs instead
If you meet the licensed criteria but the NHS has not reached you, private treatment is the regulated alternative. Your first 2.5mg pen costs £129.99 with code FIRST40 (standard price £169.99). After that, every later order is £25 off the standard price (code DOSE25), and a new customer's £40 first-order saving applies at any dose, including if you are switching to us at a higher strength.
The standard price of one 4-week pen rises with dose: £189.99 at 5mg, £244.99 at 7.5mg, £274.99 at 10mg, £289.99 at 12.5mg and £299.99 at 15mg. All six doses are in stock. You can see the full live table on the Mounjaro pen page, and the current offers on our Mounjaro discount code page.
Planning beyond one pen? If you step up after 4 weeks on each dose, your first four pens (2.5mg to 10mg) cost £879.96 at standard prices. A first year costs £2,399.88 if you settle at 5mg, up to £3,279.88 at 15mg. These totals are before discounts: a new customer's first order is £40 less and every later order £25 less.
Consultation is free and the price shown is the price paid, with no hidden fees. Klarna and pay-monthly options are available, with no subscription lock-in.
04 · NHS eligibility explained
Who can get Mounjaro on the NHS
NHS Mounjaro for weight management is prioritised by clinical need. NICE recommends it for adults with a BMI of at least 35 plus at least one weight-related condition, and the primary-care rollout that began in June 2025 started with the highest-need groups, initially BMI 40+ with four or more qualifying conditions.46
Mounjaro is also licensed for type 2 diabetes, and it is a separate pathway from weight management.1 If you have diabetes, your diabetes team decides what is appropriate for you.
A good first step is a conversation with your GP practice about where your area is in the rollout. Local arrangements differ, so it can help to read the regional guides: Tayside, Fife and Northern Ireland. Our overview of getting Mounjaro through the NHS pulls the routes together.
A GP may or may not prescribe it at your first appointment. That depends on whether you currently meet the criteria being applied locally, not on how strongly you want it.
05 · Licensed criteria privately
Private eligibility is broader than NHS
The licence is wider than the current NHS priority groups. Mounjaro is licensed for weight management in adults with a BMI of 30 or above, or a BMI between 27 and 30 with at least one weight-related condition such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, obstructive sleep apnoea, cardiovascular disease, prediabetes or type 2 diabetes. It must be used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity.1
For people from South Asian, Chinese, other Asian, Middle Eastern, Black African or African-Caribbean backgrounds, clinical thresholds are usually reduced by 2.5 kg/m², because the risk of weight-related health problems starts at a lower BMI.11
A prescriber assesses your BMI, medical history and current medicines before deciding whether it is suitable. That is why many people who meet the licensed criteria, but sit outside the first NHS groups, choose regulated private treatment rather than waiting.4
06 · What the results look like
What you are paying for: trial results
In the SURMOUNT-1 trial of 2,539 adults, people taking tirzepatide alongside diet and exercise lost on average 15% of their body weight on 5mg, 19.5% on 10mg and 20.9% on 15mg over 72 weeks, compared with 3.1% with lifestyle changes alone.2 These are trial averages and individual results vary.
As a worked example, for someone starting at 100 kg, 20.9% is about 21 kg. Trial averages do not predict your own result, and treatment works alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity, not instead of them.
At 72 weeks, 85% of participants on 5mg, 89% on 10mg and 91% on 15mg had lost at least 5% of their body weight. Half of participants on 10mg and 57% on 15mg lost at least 20%.2
07 · Cutting cost safely
Saving money without taking risks
The legitimate ways to lower what you pay are the discounts on our discount page and comparing providers on a like-for-like dose.
08 · Avoiding fake pens
Fake pens and unverified sellers
The MHRA has seized thousands of fake weight-loss pens in the UK and has issued alerts after falsified Mounjaro pens were identified. Fake pens have caused hospitalisations, and some contained insulin rather than tirzepatide.7
Only buy from a pharmacy you can verify on the GPhC register, never from social media, beauty salons or unverified websites. Genuine treatment always involves a prescription and a clinical consultation.12 A seller offering to supply without a consultation or prescription is a warning sign, however low the price.
A genuine UK pen comes from a registered pharmacy with a batch number and expiry date, arrives cold-chain packaged, and the solution inside is clear and colourless. Do not use a pen that has been frozen, looks cloudy or discoloured, has particles in it, is past its expiry, or has been above 30°C or out of the fridge for more than 30 days in use.13 We supply genuine KwikPens through official LillyDirect supply, direct from Eli Lilly's UK distribution.
09 · How ordering works
How ordering with us works
Mounjaro is a prescription-only medicine, supplied only after an online consultation reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber. It is used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity, and individual results vary.
- Free online consultation: a short health questionnaire, no charge and no obligation. Start your free consultation.
- Prescriber review: reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber, not a scoring script. Payment is taken when you place the order; if the prescriber decides the treatment is not suitable, the order is refunded automatically in full.
- Dispensing and delivery: dispensed by our registered pharmacy, with same-day dispatch when ordered by 3pm and free next-day tracked DPD delivery in temperature-controlled packaging. Saturday delivery is £14.99.
Ongoing monthly reviews are included, and repeat orders re-check suitability, with no auto-shipping. Our free GLPTrackr app helps you track your journey. NHS workers weighing private treatment can read how the cost sits against extra shifts. Browse all weight loss treatments if you want to compare options.

Complete a confidential health questionnaire covering BMI, medical history and current medication. No payment is taken until you're approved.
Step 2: Prescriber review — usually same day
A UK registered prescriber checks your suitability against the licensed criteria (BMI ≥30, or ≥27 with a weight-related condition) and contraindications, and confirms your starting dose.
Step 3: Next-day tracked delivery
Dispensed by our GPhC-registered pharmacy in temperature-controlled packaging with needles and a sharps bin included. Orders approved by 3pm for next-day tracked delivery.
Prescription and dispatch follow clinical approval. Confirm current delivery options when ordering.
Afterwards you're not on your own: dose-change reviews are built in before each step up, our pharmacist team is available for side-effect questions, and repeat orders re-check suitability rather than auto-shipping.
