What Mounjaro injections cost in the UK

A single Mounjaro pen is a 4-week supply, so every price you see is a monthly figure. Across the UK pharmacies we track, pens range from £143.96 to £319.99 across all doses and providers, and the 2.5mg starter pen ranges from £143.96 to £179.99 (checked 25 October 2026). Those are wide ranges, which is why a quick comparison is worth a few minutes.

What the first year looks like

Everyone starts on 2.5mg and steps up at a minimum of 4-week intervals, so your costs rise with the dose. This table uses standard prices before any discount.

A new customer's first order is £40 less, and every later order is £25 less, so the real total is lower than the table. If you settle at 7.5mg, a month costs £244.99; at 10mg it is £274.99; at 12.5mg it is £289.99. Higher is not automatically better, and many people settle at 5mg, 10mg or 15mg.¹

Why Mounjaro prices vary so much

Mounjaro prices vary because each pharmacy sets its own sell price on a medicine whose list price is fixed by the manufacturer. Across the UK pharmacies we track, the cheapest and dearest pens sit £143.96 and £319.99 apart at the extremes, but that range spans every dose from 2.5mg to 15mg. It is not a starting-dose price, so do not read it as one.

The more useful numbers are dose-specific. The 2.5mg starting pen ranges from £143.96 to £179.99, and for any single dose the gap between providers runs from £20 to £36.03. Those gaps are what you can actually save by comparing, provided you compare like for like. Our index is checked on a stated date (25 October 2026), because prices move.

Pharmacy sell prices differ because of confidential discounts, which is why two providers can charge quite different amounts for the same pen.

What to compare, in order of importance:

• Genuine supply. A named, verifiable pharmacy supplying genuine KwikPens matters more than a few pounds saved.
• Dose. Compare the dose you will actually be prescribed, not the starter price alone.
• Total at checkout. Consultation, delivery and any other fees should be visible before you pay.
• Clinical review. A prescriber should assess your BMI, history and medicines before supplying.¹
• Reorder terms. The price you pay in month five matters more than the headline in month one.

05 · Doses and cost

How the dose ladder shapes your cost

Your dose, not your preference, determines what each pen costs. Everyone starts on 2.5mg once a week, and the starting dose is about letting your body adjust rather than weight loss itself. After at least 4 weeks the dose rises to 5mg, then can step up by 2.5mg at minimum 4-week intervals (7.5mg, 10mg, 12.5mg) to a maximum of 15mg weekly, depending on how you respond and tolerate it.¹

Discounts: first order and reorders

New customers get £40 off their first order at any dose with code FIRST40, and every future order has an automatic £25 off (code DOSE25). The two work in sequence: the first applies once, the second applies from your second order onward. Our discount code guide shows the current values.

Because the first-order discount applies at any dose, it also helps if you are switching from another provider at a higher dose.

• Order one: the standard price for your dose, less £40.
• Every later order: the standard price for your dose, less £25.
• Dose changes: each new dose is priced at its own standard price, with the reorder discount applied.

When you compare us with another provider, check that the advertised figure is a price you can pay every month, not an introductory price that rises on the second order. The year totals (£2,399.88 at 5mg, £3,279.88 at 15mg) are standard prices before discounts, so your real first-year total is lower.

07 · Cheap or counterfeit

When a low price is a warning sign

A very low Mounjaro price from a seller you cannot verify is a safety risk, not a bargain. The MHRA has seized thousands of fake weight-loss pens in the UK and has issued alerts after falsified Mounjaro pens were identified. Fake pens have caused hospitalisations, and some contained insulin rather than tirzepatide.⁷

Only buy from a pharmacy you can verify on the GPhC register, never from social media, beauty salons or unverified websites. Genuine treatment always involves a prescription and a clinical consultation, so anyone offering to supply without a consultation or prescription should be treated as a red flag.¹² Our registration number is 9012878.

Do not use a pen that:

• has been frozen;

• Use the reorder discount rather than looking for informal bargains.
• Use Klarna or pay-monthly options to spread the cost if needed.
• Ask your prescriber at each review whether your current dose is still the right one.

09 · NHS or private

NHS or private: the honest picture

Mounjaro is available on the NHS, but access is being phased in over several years. NICE recommends it for adults with a BMI of at least 35 plus at least one weight-related condition, and the NHS primary-care rollout began in June 2025 with the highest-need groups first, initially BMI 40+ with four or more qualifying conditions.⁴⁶ Full rollout is expected to take years, which is why many people who meet the licensed criteria choose regulated private treatment rather than waiting.

For comparison, the NHS prescription charge in England is £9.90 per item, though whether that applies depends on how Mounjaro is prescribed to you and your exemptions. Ask your GP or practice about your own position. Private supply is a different route: you pay the pharmacy price, and a prescriber at the pharmacy reviews your suitability.

Treatment must be used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity, and a prescriber will assess your BMI, medical history and current medicines first.¹

What to do next depends on where you stand:

• If you may meet the NHS criteria, ask your GP about the local pathway; you can still change your mind later.
• If you want to start sooner, a private consultation is free and reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber.
• If you have type 2 diabetes, speak to your diabetes team first, as Mounjaro is also licensed for that condition and other medicines may need adjusting.

10 · Storage and value

Getting full value from every pen

Storing and using each pen correctly protects what you have paid for. Keep Mounjaro pens in a fridge at 2–8°C and never freeze them. Once in use, a pen can be kept out of the fridge at a temperature not above 30°C for up to 30 days after first use, useful for short trips, and must then be thrown away. Keep the cap on to protect it from light.¹

Unopened pens should be kept in the fridge and keep until the expiry date printed on the box. If an unopened pen has been out of the fridge, check with the pharmacy before using it rather than relying on a remembered day limit, because figures circulating online often come from other countries' labels.¹³

Mounjaro is injected under the skin once a week on the same day, at any time of day, with or without food. There is no best time of day; what matters is the same day each week. Licensed sites are the stomach area (at least 5cm from the belly button), the front of the thigh, or the back of the upper arm if someone else gives the injection, and you should rotate the site each dose.¹

Wasted doses are wasted money, so know the rules:

• Missed dose: take it as soon as you can within 4 days (96 hours) of the scheduled time. After that, skip it and take the next on your normal day, and never take two doses within 3 days of each other.
• Changing day: allowed if at least 3 days (72 hours) have passed since your last dose.
• Travel: carry pens in hand luggage, not hold luggage, as the hold can fall below freezing, ideally in a cool bag with your prescription label or a copy.

11 · Other medicines

How other weight-loss medicines compare on cost

Other medicines work differently. Tirzepatide is the first treatment of its kind to activate two natural gut-hormone receptors at once, GIP and GLP-1, which together help regulate appetite, slow how quickly the stomach empties and improve how the body responds to insulin. That dual action distinguishes Mounjaro from single-action GLP-1 medicines such as semaglutide (Wegovy and Ozempic).¹

Wegovy (semaglutide) is also a once-weekly pen. Its dose ladder is 0.25mg, 0.5mg, 1mg, 1.7mg and 2.4mg, stepping up after at least 4 weeks and reaching the 2.4mg maintenance dose from week 17.¹⁸ Our first Wegovy pen starts at £99.99 as a first-order price. That figure is for Wegovy only and should not be set against Mounjaro's market range.

Liraglutide (Saxenda and similar products) is supplied at 6mg per millilitre and is a daily injection, unlike once-weekly Mounjaro and Wegovy.

In SURMOUNT-1, a trial of 2,539 adults, people taking tirzepatide alongside diet and exercise lost on average 15% of their body weight on 5mg, 19.5% on 10mg and 20.9% on 15mg over 72 weeks, compared with 3.1% with lifestyle changes alone. For someone starting at 100 kg, 20.9% is about 21 kg. These are trial averages and individual results vary.²

Progress is gradual by design. The first weeks on 2.5mg are an adjustment phase, and most measurable progress builds from 5mg onward. If you have lost less than 5% of your starting weight after 6 months on the highest dose you can tolerate, your prescriber will discuss whether continuing or stopping is right for you.¹
