What a GLP-1 private prescription costs

The Mounjaro pen is £169.99 per month at the 2.5mg starting dose, £189.99 at 5mg and £244.99 at 7.5mg. At 10mg it is £274.99, at 12.5mg £289.99 and at 15mg £299.99. Each is one four-week pen, and all six doses are in stock.

A new customer gets £40 off their first order at any dose with code FIRST40. That makes your first 2.5mg pen £129.99 (standard price £169.99). Switching to us at 15mg? Your first order is £259.99. 02 · Planning

Planning the cost over a year

Treatment is stepped up gradually, so the cost changes as your dose does. If you step up after 4 weeks on each dose, your first four pens (2.5mg to 10mg) cost £879.96 at standard prices. A first year of 13 pens costs £2,399.88 if you stay on 5mg after your 2.5mg starting pen, up to £3,279.88 if you step up through every dose to 15mg. These are standard prices before discounts: a new customer's first order is £40 less and every later order £25 less.

If you settle at another dose, simply use that dose's monthly price: £244.99 at 7.5mg, £274.99 at 10mg or £289.99 at 12.5mg. We do not ask you to commit to a plan. There are no subscriptions, you can pay by Visa, Mastercard or Klarna, and pay-monthly options are available. Repeat orders re-check suitability, and nothing ships automatically.

How to get a GLP-1 prescription online with us

04 · Which GLP-1 medicines

Which GLP-1 medicines can you get privately?

Several GLP-1-based medicines are prescribed privately in the UK, and they differ in how they are taken. Mounjaro (tirzepatide) is a once-weekly injectable made by Eli Lilly, licensed in the UK for weight management in adults and for type 2 diabetes, supplied as a multi-dose KwikPen in six strengths from 2.5mg to 15mg.¹ Wegovy (semaglutide) is a once-weekly injection with pens of 0.25mg, 0.5mg, 1mg, 1.7mg and 2.4mg; doses step up after at least four weeks and reach the 2.4mg maintenance dose from week 17.¹⁸

05 · Who qualifies

Who can get a GLP-1 prescription?

Not anyone can get one: a prescriber has to judge that treatment is suitable and licensed for you. Mounjaro is licensed for weight management in adults with a BMI of 30 or above, or a BMI between 27 and 30 with at least one weight-related condition. Examples include high blood pressure, high cholesterol, obstructive sleep apnoea, cardiovascular disease, prediabetes or type 2 diabetes. It must be used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity.¹¹¹

A prescriber assesses your BMI, medical history and current medicines before deciding. That is why the questionnaire asks detailed questions, and why a request can be declined. Meeting the BMI figure does not mean you must take a GLP-1. It is a licensing threshold, and the decision rests with you and the prescriber together.

06 · NHS or private

NHS or private GLP-1 prescription?

Mounjaro is available on the NHS, but access is being phased in over several years. NICE recommends it for adults with a BMI of at least 35 plus at least one weight-related condition. The NHS primary-care rollout began in June 2025 with the highest-need groups first, initially BMI 40+ with four or more qualifying conditions.⁴⁶ Full rollout is expected to take years, which is why many people who meet the licensed criteria choose regulated private treatment rather than waiting.

Before an NHS prescription, you pay the NHS prescription charge of £9.90 in England if you are not exempt. A private prescription is priced by the pharmacy.

07 · What to expect

What results can you expect on Mounjaro?

In the SURMOUNT-1 trial of 2,539 adults, people taking tirzepatide alongside diet and exercise lost on average 15% of their body weight on 5mg, 19.5% on 10mg and 20.9% on 15mg over 72 weeks, compared with 3.1% with lifestyle changes alone.² These are trial averages and individual results vary. Treatment works alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity, not instead of them.

As a worked example, for someone starting at 100 kg, 20.9% is about 21 kg. At 72 weeks, 85% of participants on 5mg, 89% on 10mg and 91% on 15mg had lost at least 5% of their body weight. Half of participants on 10mg and 57% on 15mg lost at least 20%.²

08 · How it works

How GLP-1 medicines work, and is GLP-1 the same as Mounjaro?

GLP-1 is a natural gut hormone, and Mounjaro is one medicine that acts on it, so the two are related but not the same. Tirzepatide activates two natural gut-hormone receptors at once: GIP and GLP-1. Together these help regulate appetite, slow how quickly the stomach empties and improve the way the body responds to insulin.¹ In practice, most people feel fuller sooner and less hungry between meals, which supports a reduced-calorie diet.

This dual action distinguishes Mounjaro from single-action GLP-1 medicines such as semaglutide (Wegovy/Ozempic).¹ Tirzepatide has a half-life of about five days, so after a final dose it takes roughly 4–5 weeks to clear the system. There is no way to speed this up, and nothing needs doing while it clears.¹

09 · Safe supply

Buying a GLP-1 prescription safely

Always use a registered pharmacy, because GLP-1 medicines are prescription-only and counterfeit products have been the subject of MHRA alerts.⁷ Be cautious of any seller offering to supply without a consultation or prescription, or one that promises specific results. Genuine supply comes from a pharmacy you can find on the GPhC register.¹²
