A quick overview
What to know
before you start.
-
Across the UK pharmacies we track, one Mounjaro pen (4 weeks) ranges from £143.96 to £339.00 depending on dose and provider.
-
The gap between providers for the same dose runs from £27 to £41, so comparing is worth ten minutes.
-
If you step up after 4 weeks on each dose, your first four pens (2.5mg to 10mg) cost £959.96 at standard prices. A first year costs £2,711.88 if you stay on 5mg after your 2.5mg starting pen, up to £3,599.88 if you step up through every dose to 15mg.
-
A very low price is a warning sign, not a bargain: only buy from a pharmacy you can verify on the GPhC register.

01 · Price
What a tirzepatide prescription costs in the UK
A private tirzepatide prescription is paid for per pen, and each pen lasts four weeks. Our price index of the UK pharmacies we track (checked 10 October 2026) puts the cheapest and dearest Mounjaro pen, across all doses and providers, at £143.96 and £339.00. That range is wide because it spans every strength from 2.5mg to 15mg, not because the same pen varies that much.
The more useful comparison is dose for dose. For the same strength, the gap between providers runs from £27 at the narrowest to £41 at the widest. If you are comparing, always line up the same dose, the same month and what is included. Boots' Mounjaro doses sit between £179.00 and £339.00 in our index, which gives a high-street reference point.
| Measure (UK pharmacies we track) | Figure per monthly pen |
|---|---|
| Cheapest pen, any dose, any provider | £143.96 |
| Dearest pen, any dose, any provider | £339.00 |
| Cheapest 2.5mg starting pen | £143.96 |
| Dearest 2.5mg starting pen | £179.99 |
| Boots, lowest to highest dose | £179.00 to £339.00 |
| Smallest to largest gap between providers, same dose | £27 to £41 |
At EverydayMeds, the standard price of one 2.5mg pen is £169.99, rising with the dose up to £329.99 for 15mg. Your first 2.5mg pen costs £129.99 with code FIRST40 (standard price £169.99). Switching to us at 15mg? Your first order is £289.99. Every later order is £25 off the standard price (code DOSE25). The full live price table sits on the Mounjaro pen page, and our Mounjaro discount code guide explains how the codes work.
02 · Planning
What a full course really costs
The monthly price is only half the picture, because your dose rises over time. These figures are standard prices before discounts. A new customer's first order is £40 less, and every later order is £25 less.
| Phase | Length | Pens | Standard cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| First year if you stay on 5mg after your 2.5mg starting pen | 52 weeks | 13 | £2,711.88 |
| First year if you step up through every dose to 15mg | 52 weeks | 13 | £3,599.88 |
A first year costs £2,711.88 if you stay on 5mg after your 2.5mg starting pen, up to £3,599.88 if you step up through every dose to 15mg. If you settle somewhere in between, your monthly pen costs £279.99 at 7.5mg, £290.99 at 10mg or £319.99 at 12.5mg. If you step up after 4 weeks on each dose, your first four pens (2.5mg to 10mg) cost £959.96. The weekly equivalents are £42.50 at 2.5mg, £54.75 at 5mg, £70.00 at 7.5mg, £72.75 at 10mg, £80.00 at 12.5mg and £82.50 at 15mg.
Not everyone needs the top dose. Your prescriber reviews you each month and will guide the right dose for you. Our Mounjaro prescription cost guide goes deeper on dose-by-dose planning.
03 · Value
What the price should include
A low headline price can hide extras, so compare what is actually bundled. With us, the consultation is free and the price shown is the price paid, with no hidden fees. Payment is taken when you place the order; if the prescriber decides the treatment is not suitable, the order is refunded automatically in full.
Delivery is free and next-day, tracked with DPD in temperature-controlled, discreet packaging. Orders placed by 3pm are dispatched the same day, and Saturday delivery is £14.99. Needles, a sharps bin and injection guidance come with every order, and ongoing monthly reviews, dose titration and side-effect support are part of the service. All six doses are in stock, supplied through official LillyDirect supply from Eli Lilly's UK distribution.
When you compare other providers, ask five questions: is the consultation free, is delivery free, are needles and a sharps bin included, are follow-up reviews included, and is the dose you will need next month available? A cheaper first pen that costs more to continue is not a saving. You can pay by Visa or Mastercard, with Klarna and pay-monthly options available, and there is no subscription: repeat orders re-check suitability and nothing ships automatically.
04 · Who can be prescribed
Who can be prescribed tirzepatide privately
Mounjaro is licensed for weight management in adults with a BMI of 30 or above, or a BMI between 27 and 30 with at least one weight-related condition. Qualifying conditions include high blood pressure, high cholesterol, obstructive sleep apnoea, cardiovascular disease, prediabetes or type 2 diabetes.1 It must be used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity.11
A prescriber assesses your BMI, medical history and current medicines before deciding whether it is suitable. That is why price is never the only gate: a pharmacy that offers to supply without a consultation or prescription is not operating legitimately. Mounjaro is a prescription-only medicine, supplied only after an online consultation reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber.
Our guide to why a prescription is required explains the legal side, and the tirzepatide prescription status page covers how its classification affects where you can buy it. If you meet the criteria, you can start your free consultation with no obligation.
05 · NHS versus private cost
NHS versus private: the honest picture
Mounjaro is available on the NHS, but access is being phased in over several years. NICE recommends it for adults with a BMI of at least 35 plus at least one weight-related condition.4 The NHS primary-care rollout began in June 2025 with the highest-need groups first, initially people with a BMI of 40 or more and four or more qualifying conditions.6 Full rollout is expected to take years.
On the NHS, a prescription in England carries the standard £9.90 charge per item, unless you are exempt. If you qualify and your area has opened access, the NHS route is worth asking your GP about. Many people who meet the licensed criteria but not yet the NHS priority group choose regulated private treatment rather than waiting.5
Whichever route you take, the medicine is the same: tirzepatide made by Eli Lilly. The difference is the wait, the eligibility threshold and who pays. If you are unsure which applies to you, a GP or the free consultation can help you decide.
06 · Spotting fake cheap pens
Why the lowest price can be the riskiest
The MHRA has seized thousands of fake weight-loss pens in the UK and has issued alerts after falsified Mounjaro pens were identified. Fake pens have caused hospitalisations, and some contained insulin rather than tirzepatide.7 A price far below the going rate is therefore a reason for caution, not excitement.
Only buy from a pharmacy you can verify on the GPhC register, never from social media, beauty salons or unverified websites.12 Genuine treatment always involves a prescription and a clinical consultation. Our registration number is 9012878, and our Mounjaro comes directly from Eli Lilly's UK distribution through official LillyDirect supply.
Genuine UK stock is supplied through Lilly's official distribution to licensed pharmacies, and every pen carries a batch number and expiry date that can be checked. A genuine pen arrives cold-chain packaged, and the solution inside is clear and colourless.13 Do not use a pen that has been frozen, looks cloudy or discoloured, has particles in it, is past its expiry, has been above 30°C, or has been in use for more than 30 days. If anything about the supply or packaging seems wrong, check the pharmacy on the GPhC register and contact it before injecting.
07 · Cutting cost safely
Ways to cut cost safely
The safe levers are choosing a provider whose price is clear and using the new-customer and reorder discounts. Our best price for Mounjaro online guide compares these routes, and the 2.5mg starter price page looks at the entry point.
08 · What you are paying for
What the trial evidence says you are paying for
In the SURMOUNT-1 trial of 2,539 adults, people taking tirzepatide alongside diet and exercise lost on average 15% of their body weight on 5mg, 19.5% on 10mg and 20.9% on 15mg over 72 weeks, compared with 3.1% with lifestyle changes alone.2 These are trial averages, individual results vary, and treatment works alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity, not instead of them.
At 72 weeks, 85% of participants on 5mg, 89% on 10mg and 91% on 15mg had lost at least 5% of their body weight. Half of participants on 10mg and 57% on 15mg lost at least 20% of their body weight.2 As a worked example, for someone starting at 100 kg, 20.9% is about 21 kg. Trial averages do not predict your own result.
Your prescriber will match your dose to your response and tolerance.
09 · Mechanism and duration
How tirzepatide works and how long you will pay for it
Tirzepatide activates two natural gut-hormone receptors at once: GIP and GLP-1. Together these help regulate appetite, slow how quickly the stomach empties, and improve the way the body responds to insulin.1 In practice, most people feel fuller sooner and less hungry between meals, which supports a reduced-calorie diet. This dual action distinguishes it from single-action GLP-1 medicines such as semaglutide.
Tirzepatide has a half-life of about five days, so after a final dose it takes roughly 4 to 5 weeks to clear the system. There is no way to speed this up, and nothing needs doing while it clears.
10 · List price history
Why prices changed and whether they will fall
Eli Lilly announced a UK list-price increase for Mounjaro on 14 August 2025, effective 1 September 2025. Pharmacy sell prices vary because of confidential discounts.
Whether prices will fall again is not something any pharmacy can promise. We show our prices live and date the market figures, so you can see where they stand today rather than rely on an old snapshot. Checking back before each reorder is sensible.

How ordering works
How ordering works at EverydayMeds
Three steps, with our pharmacy team alongside you.
Step 1: Online consultation — 5–10 minutes
Complete a confidential health questionnaire covering BMI, medical history and current medication. No payment is taken until you're approved.
Step 2: Prescriber review — usually same day
A UK registered prescriber checks your suitability against the licensed criteria (BMI ≥30, or ≥27 with a weight-related condition) and contraindications, and confirms your starting dose.
Step 3: Next-day tracked delivery
Dispensed by our GPhC-registered pharmacy in temperature-controlled packaging with needles and a sharps bin included. Orders approved by 3pm for next-day tracked delivery.
Prescription and dispatch follow clinical approval. Confirm current delivery options when ordering.
Afterwards you're not on your own: dose-change reviews are built in before each step up, our pharmacist team is available for side-effect questions, and repeat orders re-check suitability rather than auto-shipping.
