01 · The short answer

Will Mounjaro get cheaper in the UK?

There is no announced cut to Mounjaro's UK price, and the most recent change to the list price was an increase. Eli Lilly set the list price, and pharmacies buy at confidential discounts below it, so shelf prices differ between providers. Nobody outside Lilly can tell you when, or whether, that list price will fall.

Across the UK pharmacies we track (checked 25 October 2026), the cheapest and dearest Mounjaro pen at any dose cost £143.96 and £319.99. For the 2.5mg starting pen alone, the range is £143.96 to £179.99. For the same dose, the gap between providers runs from £20 to £36.03. That gap is the saving you can act on now. Waiting for a market-wide cut is not a plan you can rely on.

02 · The 2025 price rise

What happened to Mounjaro's UK price

Eli Lilly announced on 14 August 2025 that it would increase the UK list price of Mounjaro, effective 1 September 2025.¹⁰ Pharmacy sell prices vary because of confidential discounts, so they are not the same as list prices.

The practical effect was that the highest doses rose most. Someone who steps up to 12.5mg or 15mg feels the change far more than someone staying on 5mg.

03 · What you can do now

How to get Mounjaro cheaper today

You can lower what you pay today in a few legitimate ways: use the discounts, compare dose for dose, spread the cost, and avoid false economies. None needs a price cut from Lilly.

1. Use the discounts. New customers save £40 on their first order at any dose with code FIRST40. That includes people switching to us from another provider at a higher dose. After that, an automatic £25 reorder discount applies to every future order (code DOSE25). So your ongoing monthly cost at any dose is that dose's standard price minus £25. For example, the 2.5mg pen has a standard price of £169.99. If you switch to us at 15mg, your first order is £259.99, a first-order price.

2. Compare dose for dose. A pharmacy that looks cheap at 2.5mg may not be cheap at 10mg. Compare the exact strength you will actually be taking, and check what is included (delivery, consultation, reviews). Your dose is decided by your prescriber. Everyone starts on 2.5mg, which is about letting your body adjust rather than weight loss itself. After at least 4 weeks the dose rises to 5mg and can then step up by 2.5mg at a minimum of 4-week intervals, to a maximum of 15mg.¹ Many people settle at 5mg, 10mg or 15mg, and higher is not automatically better.¹ Your prescriber guides the pace.

3. Spread the payment. We accept Visa and Mastercard, Klarna and pay-monthly options, with no subscriptions and no lock-in. Spreading payments does not reduce the total, but it can make a monthly budget easier. Repeat orders re-check suitability, and nothing ships automatically.

04 · Planning the budget

What a year of Mounjaro costs

Planning for the full course matters more than any single month's price. These totals are at standard prices, before discounts. A new customer's first order is £40 less, and every later order is £25 less.

For other maintenance doses, the monthly standard price is £244.99 at 7.5mg, £274.99 at 10mg and £289.99 at 12.5mg. The weekly equivalents run from £47.50 at 5mg to £75.00 at 15mg, standard price. The spread between settling at 5mg and at 15mg is large; your prescriber decides which dose suits you.

What would have to change for prices to fall

Four things could in principle move Mounjaro's price, and none has a confirmed date.

Be sceptical of any page that tells you a specific month when prices will drop. Nobody outside the manufacturer controls the list price.

Any provider offering a multi-month bundle is worth comparing, but divide the bundle total by the number of pens and compare it with a single pen at the same dose from another provider. Then check what is included and whether the supplier is on the GPhC register.

06 · Shortcuts to avoid

Money-saving shortcuts that are not safe

Some cost-cutting tips online are unsafe, and none is something a UK pharmacy or prescriber can support. Four come up repeatedly.

Mounjaro is licensed as a once-weekly medicine, and its blood levels are designed around a 7-day cycle. Talk to your clinical team rather than self-adjusting.¹

Each KwikPen is designed and licensed to deliver exactly four weekly doses. Use the pen as designed, then dispose of it.¹

Unverified sellers. The MHRA has seized thousands of fake weight-loss pens in the UK and has issued alerts after falsified Mounjaro pens were identified. Fake pens have caused hospitalisations, and some contained insulin rather than tirzepatide.⁷ Only buy from a pharmacy you can verify on the GPhC register, never from social media, beauty salons or unverified websites. Genuine treatment always involves a prescription and a clinical consultation.⁷ A suspiciously low price from a seller offering to supply without a consultation or prescription is a warning sign, not a bargain.

A genuine UK pen comes from a registered pharmacy with a batch number and expiry date and arrives cold-chain packaged. The solution inside is clear and colourless.¹³ Do not use a pen that has been frozen, looks cloudy or discoloured, has particles in it or is past its expiry. If anything looks wrong, contact the pharmacy before injecting.

07 · NHS and alternatives

NHS access and alternative treatments

Mounjaro is available on the NHS, but access is being phased in over several years. NICE recommends it for adults with a BMI of at least 35 plus at least one weight-related condition. The NHS primary-care rollout began in June 2025 with the highest-need groups first, initially BMI 40+ with four or more qualifying conditions.⁴⁶ Full rollout is expected to take years, which is why many people who meet the licensed criteria choose regulated private treatment rather than waiting. The NHS prescription charge in England is £9.90 per item where a charge applies, so ask your GP about your own position. Privately, Mounjaro is licensed for adults with a BMI of 30 or above, or a BMI between 27 and 30 with at least one weight-related condition such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, obstructive sleep apnoea, cardiovascular disease, prediabetes or type 2 diabetes. It must be used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity, and a prescriber assesses your BMI, medical history and current medicines first.¹

Other licensed options exist, and they differ in dosing and price. Wegovy (semaglutide) is a once-weekly injection with a dose ladder of 0.25mg, 0.5mg, 1mg, 1.7mg and 2.4mg, reaching the 2.4mg maintenance dose from week 17.¹⁸ Its first pen is £99.99, a first-order price. Liraglutide (Saxenda, and products such as Erly) is supplied at 6mg per millilitre and is a daily injection, unlike once-weekly Mounjaro and Wegovy. Mounjaro's dual GIP and GLP-1 action differs from single-action semaglutide, and that is a clinical difference rather than a cost one.¹

Judging value, not just the monthly price

The monthly figure is only part of what you pay for, so judge value on supply, support and the realistic result. A low price from an unverifiable source is not value, and a higher price with proper aftercare may be.

On results, the SURMOUNT-1 trial of 2,539 adults found that people taking tirzepatide alongside diet and exercise lost on average 15% of their body weight on 5mg, 19.5% on 10mg and 20.9% on 15mg over 72 weeks, compared with 3.1% with lifestyle changes alone.² These are trial averages, and individual results vary.
