A quick overview

What to know
before you start.

  • Mounjaro is dosed in mg. You read the number in the pen window, not clicks and not millilitres.
  • The ladder is 2.5mg, 5mg, 7.5mg, 10mg, 12.5mg and 15mg, with steps no sooner than after at least four weeks.
  • Switching from Ozempic or Wegovy has no official dose-for-dose conversion, so a prescriber sets your starting point.
  • Many people settle at 5mg, 10mg or 15mg. Higher is not automatically better.

01 · The chart

Mounjaro conversion chart: the licensed dose ladder

Mounjaro conversion is really a dose ladder, because every strength is its own fixed-dose pen. It is not a clicks or ml calculation. Mounjaro is a once-weekly injection that comes as a pre-filled multi-dose pen (KwikPen) in six strengths: 2.5mg, 5mg, 7.5mg, 10mg, 12.5mg and 15mg.1

StepWeekly doseWhat it is forTypical role
Start2.5mgLetting your body adjustStarting dose for everyone, not a weight-loss dose
Step up5mgFirst increaseA common maintenance dose
Step up7.5mgFurther increase if neededUsually a stepping stone, can be held
Step up10mgFurther increase if neededA common maintenance dose
Step up12.5mgFurther increase if neededUsually a stepping stone, can be held
Maximum15mgHighest licensed doseA common maintenance dose

Everyone starts Mounjaro on 2.5mg once a week. This starting dose is about letting your body adjust, not about weight loss itself. After at least 4 weeks the dose increases to 5mg, and can then step up by 2.5mg at a minimum of 4-week intervals (7.5mg, 10mg, 12.5mg) up to a maximum of 15mg weekly, depending on how you respond and tolerate it.1

For a full walk-through of each step, see our Mounjaro dosage chart, or the one-page Mounjaro chart overview.

02 · Clicks and ml

Is there a Mounjaro click or ml conversion?

No.

The same goes for millilitres. You are never asked to draw up a volume or convert mg into ml, because the pen delivers a fixed dose. This is a real difference from products supplied as a concentration, such as liraglutide at 6mg per millilitre, which is a daily injection, unlike once-weekly Mounjaro and Wegovy.

03 · Switching

Converting from Ozempic, Wegovy or another provider

There is no approved dose-for-dose conversion between Mounjaro and semaglutide. Tirzepatide activates two gut-hormone receptors, GIP and GLP-1, which distinguishes it from single-action medicines such as semaglutide (Wegovy/Ozempic).1 Ozempic is semaglutide licensed for type 2 diabetes — it is not a UK weight-loss medicine, and prescribing it privately for weight loss is off-label. Because the medicines act differently, a milligram figure on one does not map neatly onto the other.

In practice, a prescriber looks at your current medicine, how well you tolerate it and your recent side effects, then chooses where on the Mounjaro ladder to begin. Our guides to the Ozempic to Mounjaro conversion chart and the conversion chart for Mounjaro doses set out the questions that matter. Going the other way, see the Mounjaro to Wegovy dose conversion chart. For wider comparisons across the class, the GLP-1 dose conversion chart covers the ladders side by side.

If you are moving to us from another provider at a higher dose, a new customer saves £40 on their first order at any dose with code FIRST40, and an automatic £25 reorder discount applies to every future order (code DOSE25). The Mounjaro pen at 2.5mg costs £169.99 at the standard price, and every strength is in stock.

04 · Reading the pen

How to read the KwikPen dose

Read the number in the dose window, and nothing else.

This is why a chart built on clicks or on millilitres is unreliable for Mounjaro. If anything about the pen looks wrong, contact the pharmacy or your prescriber before injecting.

05 · Stepping up safely

How and when to step up a dose

Dose steps are driven by how you respond and tolerate treatment, not by the calendar alone. The licensed minimum gap is after at least four weeks, but your prescriber can hold you on a dose for longer if that suits you better.1

Many people settle at a maintenance dose of 5mg, 10mg or 15mg — higher is not automatically better, and your prescriber will guide the right pace.1 So if you are asking whether 10mg is "a lot", it is a recognised maintenance dose in the middle of the ladder, and the right dose is the lowest one that works well for you.

Our team carries out monthly reviews and dose-titration follow-ups as part of ongoing aftercare, and repeat orders re-check suitability. Nothing is shipped automatically.

06 · Microdosing and splitting

Why you should not split or microdose a pen

Altering doses outside the licence means unknown dosing accuracy and no safety data.1

07 · Missed doses and timing

Missed doses, injection day and timing

Conversion questions often turn into timing questions, so here are the rules. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you can within 4 days (96 hours) of the scheduled time, then carry on with your usual day. If more than 4 days have passed, skip the missed dose entirely and take the next one on your normal day — never take two doses within 3 days of each other.1

You can change your weekly injection day if needed, as long as at least 3 days (72 hours) have passed since your last dose.1

There is no "best" time of day — Mounjaro works the same morning or evening, with or without food. What matters is the same day each week.1

08 · Injecting and storage

Injection sites and storage

Mounjaro is injected under the skin (subcutaneously) once a week, on the same day each week, at any time of day, with or without food. Licensed injection sites are the stomach area (at least 5cm from the belly button), the front of the thigh, or the back of the upper arm if someone else gives the injection. Rotate the site with each dose.1

Keep Mounjaro pens in a fridge at 2–8°C and never freeze them. Once in use, a pen can be kept out of the fridge not above 30°C for up to 30 days — useful for short trips — after which it should be discarded. Keep the pen cap on to protect it from light, and never use a pen that has been frozen.13

Needles, a sharps bin and injection guidance come with every order.

09 · What to expect

What each dose can realistically do

Dose matters, but results build gradually. Weight loss on Mounjaro is gradual by design. The first weeks on 2.5mg are an adjustment phase and losses are usually modest; most measurable progress builds from 5mg onward, month by month.1

In the SURMOUNT-1 trial of 2,539 adults, people taking tirzepatide alongside diet and exercise lost on average 15% of their body weight on 5mg, 19.5% on 10mg and 20.9% on 15mg over 72 weeks, compared with 3.1% with lifestyle changes alone. These are trial averages — individual results vary, and treatment works alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity, not instead of them.2

Treatment response is reviewed by your prescriber: if you have lost less than 5% of your starting weight after 6 months on the highest dose you can tolerate, your prescriber will discuss whether continuing or stopping is right for you.1

10 · Serious side effects

Serious side effects: when to get help straight away

Serious side effects are uncommon but need urgent attention. Seek immediate medical help for: severe, persistent stomach pain that may spread to your back, with or without vomiting (possible pancreatitis); pain in the upper right abdomen, fever or yellowing of skin/eyes (possible gallbladder problems); or signs of a severe allergic reaction such as swelling of the face or throat and difficulty breathing. If you take insulin or a sulfonylurea alongside Mounjaro, watch for low blood sugar (shakiness, sweating, confusion) — your prescriber may need to adjust those medicines.1

11 · Access and ordering

NHS access and private ordering

Mounjaro is available on the NHS, but access is being phased in over several years. NICE recommends it for adults with a BMI of at least 35 plus at least one weight-related condition, and the NHS primary-care rollout began in June 2025 with the highest-need groups first (initially BMI 40+ with four or more qualifying conditions).4 Full rollout is expected to take years, which is why many people who meet the licensed criteria choose regulated private treatment rather than waiting.

Ordering with us follows a short path: a free online consultation, a review by a GPhC-registered prescriber, then dispensing and free next-day tracked delivery. Same-day dispatch applies when you order by 3pm. Our weight loss clinic page explains the process, and you can check what each dose costs on the Mounjaro price chart. Prices were checked 25 October 2026.

Mounjaro (tirzepatide) is a prescription-only medicine, supplied only after an online consultation reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber. It is used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity. Individual results vary. This page is information, not a substitute for medical advice.

How ordering works

How ordering works at EverydayMeds

Three steps, with our pharmacy team alongside you.

  1. EverydayMeds online consultation on a mobile phone

    Step 1: Online consultation — 5–10 minutes

Complete a confidential health questionnaire covering BMI, medical history and current medication. No payment is taken until you're approved.

  2. A clinician ready to review an online consultation

Step 2: Prescriber review — usually same day

A UK registered prescriber checks your suitability against the licensed criteria (BMI ≥30, or ≥27 with a weight-related condition) and contraindications, and confirms your starting dose.

  3. An EverydayMeds delivery box

    Step 3: Next-day tracked delivery

Dispensed by our GPhC-registered pharmacy in temperature-controlled packaging with needles and a sharps bin included. Orders approved by 3pm for next-day tracked delivery.

Your questions, answered

Mounjaro price UK — frequently asked questions

Answers to common questions about Mounjaro prices, NHS access and ongoing treatment.

Ask our pharmacy team
Is there a Mounjaro conversion chart in ml or clicks?
No. There is no millilitre calculation to do, because the pen delivers a fixed dose. Charts built on clicks or ml do not apply to Mounjaro.
What are the different doses of Mounjaro?
Mounjaro comes in six strengths: 2.5mg, 5mg, 7.5mg, 10mg, 12.5mg and 15mg, injected once a week. Everyone starts on 2.5mg, then steps up no sooner than after at least four weeks, depending on response and tolerance. Many people settle at 5mg, 10mg or 15mg, and your prescriber guides the pace.
Is 10mg of tirzepatide a lot?
10mg sits in the middle-to-upper part of the ladder, below the 15mg maximum. It is a recognised maintenance dose that many people settle at. Higher is not automatically better, and the right dose is the one that works well for you with tolerable side effects. Your prescriber guides that decision.
How much Mounjaro is equivalent to 1mg Ozempic?
There is no approved dose-for-dose equivalent. Ozempic is semaglutide licensed for type 2 diabetes — it is not a UK weight-loss medicine, and a regulated UK pharmacy will not supply Ozempic for weight loss. Tirzepatide acts on both GIP and GLP-1 receptors, while semaglutide acts on a single pathway, so milligram figures do not map across. A prescriber chooses your Mounjaro starting dose from your current medicine, tolerance and recent side effects, rather than from a conversion formula.
What are the possible side effects of taking tirzepatide?
Mild nausea, altered appetite and tiredness in the first days after each injection are the commonest early effects and usually settle. Very common effects (more than 1 in 10 people) include feeling sick, diarrhoea, being sick, stomach pain, constipation and feeling tired. Serious side effects are uncommon: for severe, persistent stomach pain that may spread to your back, pain in the upper right abdomen with fever or yellowing of the skin or eyes, or signs of a severe allergic reaction such as swelling of the face or throat and difficulty breathing, get medical help straight away. Discuss any new or worrying symptom with your prescriber, and you can report side effects through the MHRA Yellow Card scheme.19
Can I split a Mounjaro pen to make smaller doses?
No. Ask your prescriber if you need a gentler step.
What happens if I miss a Mounjaro dose?
Take it as soon as you can within 4 days (96 hours) of the scheduled time, then carry on with your usual day. If more than 4 days have passed, skip the missed dose entirely and take the next one on your normal day. Never take two doses within 3 days of each other.
Can I drink alcohol while on Mounjaro?
There is no direct interaction between Mounjaro and alcohol, but drinking on a reduced appetite and emptier stomach can hit harder than usual. If you also take insulin or a sulfonylurea, alcohol increases the risk of low blood sugar. Moderation is the sensible rule.
