In this guide

01 · Private cost

What weight loss injections cost privately

The cost of weight loss injections depends on three things: the medicine, the dose and whether you go through the NHS or a private pharmacy. For Mounjaro (tirzepatide), each Mounjaro pen is one 4-week supply, so you pay once every four weeks rather than every week.

At standard prices, the 2.5mg starter pen is £169.99, 5mg is £189.99, 7.5mg is £244.99, 10mg is £274.99, 12.5mg is £289.99 and 15mg is £299.99. Per week, that works out at £42.50 at 2.5mg and £75.00 at 15mg. All six doses are in stock.

Discounts apply on top of those standard prices. A new customer gets £40 off their first order at any dose with code FIRST40. That includes people switching to us from another provider at a higher dose. Every later order is £25 off the standard price (code DOSE25). The Mounjaro discount code guide explains how they work.

02 · What you get

What the price includes

The price shown is the price paid. The consultation is free, and there are no hidden fees. Your order includes the following.

  • A free online consultation reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber, not a scoring script.
  • Free next-day tracked delivery in temperature-controlled, discreet packaging, with same-day dispatch when you order by 3pm. Saturday delivery is £14.99.
  • Needles, a sharps bin and injection guidance with every order.
  • Ongoing monthly reviews, dose titration and follow-up from the prescribing team, plus side-effect support.
  • Genuine KwikPens through official LillyDirect supply, direct from Eli Lilly's UK distribution.

Payment is taken when you place the order; if the prescriber decides the treatment is not suitable, the order is refunded automatically in full. You can pay by Visa or Mastercard, Klarna or pay-monthly options, with no subscription lock-in. Repeat orders re-check suitability, so nothing ships automatically.

03 · Are they free?

Are weight loss injections free?

They can be, but only through the NHS, and access is phased. Mounjaro is available on the NHS, with the primary-care rollout starting in June 2025 for the highest-need groups first.4 If you do qualify, you would normally pay only the standard NHS prescription charge of £9.90 in England, or nothing if you are exempt. Our guide to getting referred explains the first step. If you do not qualify yet, or do not want to wait, regulated private treatment is the alternative.

04 · NHS versus private

NHS versus private: the honest picture

Mounjaro is available on the NHS, but access is being phased in over several years.6 NICE recommends it for adults with a BMI of at least 35 plus at least one weight-related condition.4 The NHS primary-care rollout began in June 2025 with the highest-need groups first, initially people with a BMI of 40 or more and four or more qualifying conditions.6 Full rollout is expected to take years.

That has a practical consequence. If you sit in a group the NHS has not reached yet, you may be eligible on paper but unable to get an appointment or prescription for some time. For some people the choice is between waiting and paying privately. Neither is wrong. It depends on your health, your budget and how long you are willing to wait.

The NHS route costs the standard prescription charge of £9.90 in England, or nothing if you are exempt. It is also provided within a clinical pathway set by local services. Referral, wraparound support and review timings are decided by your local NHS service, so what you receive can differ by area. Our guide to how to get referred for weight loss injections covers the first step: speaking to your GP.

The private route is quicker to start and open to adults who meet the licence rather than the narrower NHS criteria. You complete a free online consultation, and a GPhC-registered prescriber reviews it. You pay for the medicine itself, at the dose you are prescribed, and the monthly price depends on that dose. The private route does not mean lower clinical standards. A regulated pharmacy still needs a prescription and a clinical consultation, as every genuine supply does.7

A fair way to decide is to ask three questions. First, do you currently meet the NHS criteria, and if so, is your local service taking new patients? Second, can you afford the private monthly cost for as long as treatment lasts, not just the first pen? Third, would a delay of months matter for your health? If you are unsure, speak to your GP before starting anything. It is also fine to begin privately and move to NHS care later if it becomes available to you, but ask your clinical team how that handover would work.

Wegovy sits in a similar position: NHS access to Wegovy runs through specialist weight-management services, so ask your GP.

05 · Who can get it

Who can get weight loss injections privately

Mounjaro is licensed for weight management in adults with a BMI of 30 or above, or a BMI between 27 and 30 with at least one weight-related condition.1 Qualifying conditions include high blood pressure, high cholesterol, obstructive sleep apnoea, cardiovascular disease, prediabetes and type 2 diabetes. It must be used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity.1

Meeting the licence is the starting point, not the end of the decision. A prescriber assesses your BMI, medical history and current medicines before deciding whether it is suitable for you.11 That is why the consultation matters. A questionnaire alone cannot weigh up your whole health picture, which is why ours is reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber.

The cost question interacts with eligibility. If you do not meet the licensed criteria, a prescriber will not supply the medicine, however much you are willing to pay. If the consultation is declined, you are refunded automatically in full. If you qualify, the price is set by the dose, not by your BMI, so a higher starting weight does not itself mean a higher bill.

Eligibility is also re-checked over time. Repeat orders re-check suitability, with no auto-shipping, and the prescribing team carries out monthly reviews and follow-up assessments. That protects you from continuing a dose that no longer suits you, and it also protects your budget, because you only pay for pens your prescriber has approved.

Finally, be honest in the questionnaire. Medicines you take, existing conditions and previous reactions all shape what is safe for you. Leaving something out does not save money. It can only make treatment less safe. If you are unsure whether something is relevant, mention it and let the prescriber decide.

When you are ready, you can start your free consultation. It carries no charge and no obligation, and if the prescriber decides the treatment is not suitable, your order is refunded automatically in full.

06 · First 16 weeks cost

What the first four pens cost

If you step up after 4 weeks on each dose, your first four pens (2.5mg to 10mg) cost £879.96 at standard prices, before discounts. Your first order is £40 less with code FIRST40, and every later order is £25 less.

Everyone starts Mounjaro on 2.5mg once a week. The starting dose is about letting your body adjust, not about weight loss itself. After at least 4 weeks the dose increases to 5mg, and can then step up by 2.5mg at minimum 4-week intervals (7.5mg, 10mg, 12.5mg) up to a maximum of 15mg weekly, depending on how you respond and tolerate it.1

So you will not necessarily pay the same amount each month, and you should not expect to. Your price rises step by step as your dose rises, and it stays level once you reach your maintenance dose. Many people settle at 5mg, 10mg or 15mg, and higher is not automatically better. Your prescriber guides the right pace.1

If you are starting from scratch, your first pen is the 2.5mg pen. Your first 2.5mg pen costs £129.99 with code FIRST40 (standard price £169.99). Starting treatment cheaply is not a reason to rush upward. Moving to a higher dose only helps when your prescriber judges it suitable and you tolerate the current one.

Why does this matter for budgeting? Because the monthly price depends on where you are on the ladder, early months can look different from later ones. A quick plan for a first year helps:

StagePensCost basis
One year, settling at 5mg13£2,399.88 at standard prices
One year, settling at 15mg13£3,279.88 at standard prices

These are standard prices before discounts. A new customer's first order is £40 less, and every later order is £25 less. Your own total depends on the doses your prescriber approves, so treat the table as a planning guide rather than a quote.

Each pen contains four weekly doses and is designed to deliver exactly that.13 That is useful when planning: one pen is one month, and you reorder after four injections.

07 · A full year of cost

Planning for a full year

A first year (52 weeks, 13 pens) costs £2,399.88 if you settle at 5mg, up to £3,279.88 at 15mg, at standard prices before discounts. A new customer's first order is £40 less, and every later order is £25 less.

For maintenance doses between those two, work from the monthly price: £244.99 per pen at 7.5mg, £274.99 at 10mg and £289.99 at 12.5mg.

It helps to think about what the money is buying. In the SURMOUNT-1 trial of 2,539 adults, people taking tirzepatide alongside diet and exercise lost on average 15% of their body weight on 5mg, 19.5% on 10mg and 20.9% on 15mg over 72 weeks, compared with 3.1% with lifestyle changes alone.2 These are trial averages, and individual results vary. Treatment works alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity, not instead of them.2

As a worked example only, for someone starting at 100 kg, 15% is about 15 kg and 20.9% is about 21 kg. That is simple arithmetic on the trial averages, not a prediction or a promise of what you will lose, and trial averages do not predict your own result.

Planning a year also means planning what happens after. Trials measured results at 72 weeks, so think in months rather than days.1 Your prescriber reviews response throughout. Please ask your clinical team early about how long treatment is likely to last and what the plan is when you reach your goal, so the year ahead is not a surprise.

Costs can also change over time. Eli Lilly's UK list price for Mounjaro was increased in 2025, which is one reason prices differ between providers and over time.10 If a price matters to your decision, look at the live figure when you order, rather than relying on a number you saw months ago.

08 · Cutting cost safely

Ways to lower the cost safely (and ways that are not safe)

  • Use the new-customer discount on your first order and the reorder discount on later orders.
  • Compare the same dose across providers, bearing in mind the price gap between providers for the same dose across the UK pharmacies we track.
  • Spread payment using Klarna or pay-monthly options, with no subscription lock-in.
  • Ask about the exit plan early, so you are not paying for longer than you need.

If you are asking what is cheaper than Mounjaro, remember that cheap and effective are not the same. Low-cost supplements sold as "nature's Ozempic" are available cheaply without assessment, but they come with no clinical oversight. They are not licensed weight-loss medicines, and dosing is not standardised. A lower sticker price is a reason to look closely, not a reason to relax.

The honest summary: the only cost-saving routes to rely on are licensed ones. If your budget is tight, speak to the prescribing team before your next order rather than changing anything yourself.

09 · Fake and cheap pens

Why the cheapest offer can be the costliest

An unusually cheap weight loss injection from an unverified seller carries a real safety risk. The MHRA has seized thousands of fake weight-loss pens in the UK and has issued alerts after falsified Mounjaro pens were identified.7 Fake pens have caused hospitalisations, and some contained insulin rather than tirzepatide.7

That is why where you buy matters more than what you save. Only buy from a pharmacy you can verify on the GPhC register, never from social media, beauty salons or unverified websites.12 Genuine treatment always involves a prescription and a clinical consultation. If a seller offers to supply without a consultation or prescription, walk away.

Our pharmacy is GPhC-registered (registration 9012878), and our Mounjaro comes through official LillyDirect supply, direct from Eli Lilly's UK distribution. Genuine UK stock is supplied through Lilly's official distribution to licensed pharmacies, and every pen carries a batch number and expiry date that can be checked.3

You can also check the pen yourself when it arrives. A genuine UK Mounjaro pen comes from a registered pharmacy with a batch number and expiry date, arrives cold-chain packaged, and the solution inside is clear and colourless. Do not use a pen that has been frozen, looks cloudy or discoloured, has particles in it, is past its expiry, has been above 30°C, or has been in use out of the fridge for more than 30 days. If supply or packaging ever seems wrong, check the pharmacy on the GPhC register and contact the pharmacy before injecting.13

A pen that costs less but is fake delivers none of the benefit and may do harm, so the real price is the whole cost of the problem. A verified pharmacy at a transparent price, where the price shown is the price paid, is a safer basis for comparison.

If you ever suspect a pen is not genuine, stop and do not inject it. Contact the pharmacy, and report suspected falsified medicines and side effects through the MHRA Yellow Card scheme.7

10 · How ordering works

How ordering works, step by step

Ordering takes three steps, and if the prescriber decides the treatment is not suitable, your order is refunded automatically in full.

  • Free online consultation. You complete a short health questionnaire. It is free, with no obligation.
  • Prescriber review. A GPhC-registered prescriber reviews your answers. Payment is taken when you place the order; if the prescriber decides the treatment is not suitable, the order is refunded automatically in full.
  • Dispensing and delivery. Our registered pharmacy dispenses your order, with same-day dispatch when ordered by 3pm. Delivery is free next-day tracked (DPD) in temperature-controlled, discreet packaging. Saturday delivery is £14.99.

You can start your free consultation online at any time. If you would rather read about the range first, our overview of all weight loss treatments covers the options.

Once you have your pen, it is simple to use. Mounjaro is injected under the skin once a week, on the same day each week, at any time of day, with or without food. Licensed sites are the stomach area (at least 5cm from the belly button), the front of the thigh, or the back of the upper arm if someone else gives the injection. Rotate the site with each dose.1 Needles, a sharps bin and injection guidance come with every order.

Storage affects how long a pen lasts, and so how much you can use well. Keep pens in a fridge at 2–8°C and never freeze them. Once in use, a pen can be kept out of the fridge at a temperature not above 30°C for up to 30 days after first use, and must then be thrown away. Do not use a pen that has been above 30°C or has been frozen. Keep the cap on to protect it from light.1

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you can within 4 days (96 hours) of the scheduled time. If more than 4 days have passed, skip it and take the next on your normal day, and never take two doses within 3 days of each other.1 You can change your injection day as long as at least 3 days (72 hours) have passed since your last dose.1

Support is available Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, by email at support@everydaymeds.co.uk, by account portal chat or by phone on 0333 207 0413. The free GLPTrackr companion app (iOS and Android) can help you track your journey.

11 · Is it worth the cost

Judging whether it is worth the cost

Whether the cost is worth it depends on realistic expectations, not on the headline trial figure. Weight loss on Mounjaro is gradual by design. The first weeks on 2.5mg are an adjustment phase and losses are usually modest. Most measurable progress builds from 5mg onward, month by month.1 That affects your budget, because the early pens are not the ones that deliver the biggest change.

Experiences in the first weeks differ widely. Some people notice appetite change and early loss in week one, while others feel little until a higher dose, and both are normal. Early loss includes water weight, so the trend over weeks matters more than any single weigh-in. Mild nausea, altered appetite and tiredness in the first days after each injection are the commonest early effects and usually settle.1

There is also a built-in review point. If you have lost less than 5% of your starting weight after 6 months on the highest dose you can tolerate, your prescriber will discuss whether continuing or stopping is right for you.11 This protects you from paying month after month for something that is not working.

In SURMOUNT-1, 85% of participants on 5mg, 89% on 10mg and 91% on 15mg had lost at least 5% of their body weight at 72 weeks. Half of participants on 10mg and 57% on 15mg lost at least 20% of their body weight.2 Those are trial results among people taking the medicine alongside diet and exercise, and individual results vary.

Consider also what is not on the invoice. Tirzepatide has a half-life of about five days, so after a final dose it takes roughly 4–5 weeks to clear the system. There is no way to speed this up, and nothing needs doing while it clears.1 If you stop, you should plan with your prescriber, because the treatment works alongside diet and activity, not instead of them.

The aim is a decision you can stand behind, rather than a purchase made on hope.

12 · Local and other options

High street, local clinics and online: what changes

The medicine is the same wherever it comes from, but the cost, speed and support differ by provider. A local appointment, for example weight loss injections in Colchester, can suit people who prefer face-to-face contact. Online pharmacies suit people who want a consultation from home and delivery to their door.

Whichever route you choose, check three things. First, confirm the provider is registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council, which you can do on the GPhC register.12 Second, confirm a prescriber reviews you before supply. Third, confirm the price is complete. The price shown should be the price paid, with no hidden fees for consultation or delivery.

Brand names can cause confusion too. You may see clinics or products promoted under unfamiliar names. If a name is unfamiliar to you, such as Chronos weight loss injections, check what the product actually is and whether the provider is registered before paying anything.

Other licensed medicines exist, including Wegovy (semaglutide). Its pens are 0.25mg, 0.5mg, 1mg, 1.7mg and 2.4mg once weekly, stepping up after 4 weeks on each of 0.25mg, 0.5mg, 1mg and 1.7mg, so the 2.4mg maintenance dose starts from week 17.18 Your first Wegovy pen costs £99.99 as a first-order price. Liraglutide products such as Saxenda are a daily injection, unlike once-weekly Mounjaro and Wegovy. Which medicine suits you is a decision for you and your prescriber, and a price comparison alone cannot answer it.

Tablets are another category. See current Wegovy tablet prices on the product page.

If you travel, note that you can fly with Mounjaro. Carry pens in hand luggage, ideally in a cool bag with the prescription label or a copy of your prescription.1 In-use pens tolerate up to 30 days not above 30°C, so most holidays need no special arrangements.

13 · Serious side effects

Serious side effects: when to get help straight away

Serious side effects are uncommon but need urgent attention. Seek immediate medical help for: severe, persistent stomach pain that may spread to your back, with or without vomiting (possible pancreatitis); pain in the upper right abdomen, fever or yellowing of skin/eyes (possible gallbladder problems); or signs of a severe allergic reaction such as swelling of the face or throat and difficulty breathing. If you take insulin or a sulfonylurea alongside Mounjaro, watch for low blood sugar (shakiness, sweating, confusion) — your prescriber may need to adjust those medicines.1

Your questions, answered

Mounjaro price UK — frequently asked questions

Answers to common questions about Mounjaro prices, NHS access and ongoing treatment.

Ask our pharmacy team
How much does it cost to get weight loss injections?
Privately, Mounjaro pens cost £169.99 per month at the 2.5mg starting dose, rising to £299.99 at 15mg, at standard prices. The consultation is free, and the price shown is the price paid. Across the UK pharmacies we track, Mounjaro pens range from £143.96 to £319.99 per month, checked 24 October 2026.
Are weight loss injections free?
They can be free or low-cost through the NHS, but access is phased in over several years. Mounjaro is available on the NHS, NICE recommends it for adults with a BMI of at least 35 plus at least one weight-related condition, and the rollout began in June 2025 with the highest-need groups first. If you qualify, you would pay only the NHS prescription charge of £9.90 in England, or nothing if exempt. If you do not qualify yet, regulated private treatment is the alternative. Ask your GP which applies to you.
Can I buy Wegovy at Asda pharmacy?
Availability and prices for Wegovy differ between providers, so check availability at the time of order. Whichever pharmacy you use, confirm it is registered on the GPhC register and that a prescriber reviews you first. On our site, your first Wegovy pen costs £99.99 as a first-order price, and the full details are on the product page.
How does Ozempic work?
Ozempic contains semaglutide, a single-action GLP-1 medicine. Ozempic is semaglutide licensed for type 2 diabetes — it is not a UK weight-loss medicine, and a regulated UK pharmacy will not supply Ozempic for weight loss. Mounjaro (tirzepatide) is different: it activates two natural gut-hormone receptors at once, GIP and GLP-1. Together these help regulate appetite, slow how quickly the stomach empties and improve the way the body responds to insulin, so most people feel fuller sooner and less hungry between meals. That supports a reduced-calorie diet. Mounjaro is the product we supply for weight management, and your prescriber can explain how it compares with other options for you.
What is known as the "poor man's Ozempic"?
The phrase is a marketing label applied to low-cost supplements such as berberine, sold as "nature's Ozempic". These are available cheaply without assessment, with no clinical oversight, and dosing is not standardised. If dramatic weight-loss claims are used to sell a product, treat that as a warning sign. Licensed treatment starts with a consultation reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber.
What is a cheaper alternative to Ozempic?
Cheaper is not the same as safe or effective, so the sensible alternatives are other licensed treatments assessed by a prescriber. Ozempic is licensed for type 2 diabetes, not weight loss; the licensed weight-management options are Mounjaro (tirzepatide) and Wegovy (semaglutide 2.4mg). Mounjaro starts at £169.99 per month for the 2.5mg pen at standard prices, and your first 2.5mg pen costs £129.99 with code FIRST40.
What is the absolute best weight loss pill?
There is no single best weight loss pill, because the right option depends on your health, eligibility and preferences, and a prescriber is the right person to judge that. Licensed oral options exist, including Wegovy tablets and Foundayo, and your prescriber can advise which suits you. Beware of supplements promising dramatic results, which come with no clinical oversight.
Is the consultation free and what if I am not approved?
Yes. The online consultation is free, with no obligation, and a GPhC-registered prescriber reviews your answers. Payment is taken when you place the order; if the prescriber decides the treatment is not suitable, the order is refunded automatically in full. That means finding out whether you are eligible costs nothing. Once dispensed, prescription medicines cannot be returned except where they are faulty, damaged or the wrong item, which you should report within 3 days.
