What Mounjaro treatment costs in the UK

Mounjaro treatment is paid for one pen at a time, and each pen is a four-week supply. At standard prices the Mounjaro pen costs £169.99 at 2.5mg, £189.99 at 5mg, £244.99 at 7.5mg, £274.99 at 10mg, £289.99 at 12.5mg and £299.99 at 15mg. Those are the prices as of October 2026, checked 25 October 2026.

Your own bill therefore depends on your dose and where you settle.

Everyone starts at 2.5mg. Your prescriber then increases the dose in steps, guided by how you tolerate treatment and how you respond. Many people never reach 15mg, and the dose that works for you is the one you should stay on.¹

02 · Planning

What the first year costs

Both are at standard prices, before any discount.

A new customer's first order is £40 less, and every later order is £25 less than the standard price. So these totals are the ceiling, not what most people pay.

If you settle at 7.5mg, 10mg or 12.5mg, work from the monthly price instead: £244.99, £274.99 or £289.99 per pen. Multiply by the number of four-week pens you need.

03 · Lowering the bill

How the new-customer and reorder discounts work

A new-customer discount applies to your first order at any dose. New customers save £40 on their first order with code FIRST40. That includes people switching to us from another provider at a higher dose.

An automatic £25 reorder discount applies to every future order (code DOSE25). So the ongoing monthly cost at any dose is that dose's standard price less £25.

As a worked example, your first 2.5mg pen costs £129.99 with code FIRST40, against a standard price of £169.99. Switching at 15mg? Your first order is £259.99. Both are first-order prices with the discount already included.

04 · What the price includes

What your Mounjaro price includes

The price shown is the price paid. The consultation is free, with no charge and no obligation, and there are no hidden fees. You complete a short health questionnaire, and a GPhC-registered prescriber reviews it. Payment is taken when you place the order; if the prescriber decides the treatment is not suitable, the order is refunded automatically in full.

Once approved, your pen is dispensed by our registered pharmacy. Orders placed by 3pm are dispatched the same day. Delivery is free, next-day, tracked with DPD and sent in temperature-controlled packaging. Saturday delivery is £14.99. Needles, a sharps bin and injection guidance come with every order.

Ongoing monthly reviews, dose-titration and follow-up assessments by the prescribing team are part of the service, as is side-effect support. Repeat orders re-check suitability, and nothing ships automatically. You can pay by Visa or Mastercard, use Klarna or pay-monthly options, and there are no subscriptions. 05 · NHS versus private

NHS or private: the honest picture

Mounjaro is available on the NHS, but access is being phased in over several years. NICE recommends it for adults with a BMI of at least 35 plus at least one weight-related condition.⁴ The NHS primary-care rollout began in June 2025 with the highest-need groups first, initially BMI 40+ with four or more qualifying conditions.⁶

Full rollout is expected to take years. That is why many people who meet the licensed criteria choose regulated private treatment rather than waiting. If you are asking whether your GP can prescribe Mounjaro, the answer depends on whether you fall into a group currently being offered it. Your GP surgery can tell you where you stand.⁵

The NHS prescription charge in England is £9.90 per item where it applies, but eligibility, not the charge, is the hurdle for weight management. 06 · Who can have Mounjaro

Who can have Mounjaro, and who cannot

Mounjaro is licensed for weight management in adults with a BMI of 30 or above, or a BMI between 27 and 30 with at least one weight-related condition. Qualifying conditions include high blood pressure, high cholesterol, obstructive sleep apnoea, cardiovascular disease, prediabetes or type 2 diabetes. It must be used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity.¹

So the BMI you need is 30 or above, or 27 to 30 with a qualifying condition. A prescriber will assess your BMI, medical history and current medicines before deciding whether it is suitable for you. If you are below those thresholds, treatment is generally not appropriate.

Who cannot take it is decided case by case. You should not take it if you are allergic to tirzepatide or any of its ingredients, and it should not be used during pregnancy or while trying to conceive. Mounjaro must not be used during pregnancy, and it should be stopped at least one month before trying to conceive. If you become pregnant during treatment, stop the medicine and tell your prescriber promptly. Your prescriber will take extra care, or may recommend against treatment, if you have a history of pancreatitis, severe gut or digestive disease, diabetic retinopathy, or gallbladder problems. Always share your full medical history and medicine list during consultation.¹³ Tell the prescriber about every medicine you take, including insulin or sulfonylureas, where doses may need adjusting because of the risk of low blood sugar.

07 · Cutting cost safely

Keeping the cost of Mounjaro down safely

The most reliable way to keep Mounjaro affordable is to compare like for like and use every legitimate discount. That means using the new-customer discount on your first order, the automatic reorder discount afterwards, and spreading payments with Klarna or pay-monthly options if that helps your budget. There is no subscription lock-in.

The shortcuts to avoid are the ones that look cheap and are not. Buying from social media, beauty salons or unverified websites risks fake pens.

08 · Counterfeit risk

Fake pens: the real cost of buying cheap

The MHRA has seized thousands of fake weight-loss pens in the UK and has issued alerts after falsified Mounjaro pens were identified. Fake pens have caused hospitalisations, and some contained insulin rather than tirzepatide.⁷

Only buy from a pharmacy you can verify on the GPhC register, never from social media, beauty salons or unverified websites.¹² Genuine treatment always involves a prescription and a clinical consultation, so anyone offering to supply without a consultation or prescription should be avoided.

A genuine UK pen comes from a registered pharmacy with a batch number and expiry date, and arrives cold-chain packaged. The solution inside is clear and colourless. Do not use a pen that has been frozen, looks cloudy or discoloured, has particles in it or is past its expiry. Do not use one that has been out of the fridge for more than 30 days in use, or above 30°C. If anything seems wrong, check the pharmacy on the register and contact it before injecting.¹

09 · What results to expect

What you are paying for: trial results

In the SURMOUNT-1 trial of 2,539 adults, people taking tirzepatide alongside diet and exercise lost on average 15% of their body weight on 5mg, 19.5% on 10mg and 20.9% on 15mg over 72 weeks. People making lifestyle changes alone lost 3.1%.²

For someone starting at 100 kg, 20.9% is about 21 kg. These are trial averages, and individual results vary. Treatment works alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity, not instead of them.

At 72 weeks, 85% of participants on 5mg, 89% on 10mg and 91% on 15mg had lost at least 5% of their body weight. Half of participants on 10mg and 57% on 15mg lost at least 20%.² Because these figures run over 72 weeks, "how quickly does it work" has no single answer.

It is also worth knowing how Mounjaro works. Tirzepatide activates two gut-hormone receptors at once, GIP and GLP-1. 10 · Other costs to plan for

Other things to budget for on treatment

No supplement is required with Mounjaro, but eating much less can leave gaps. A standard daily multivitamin is a reasonable safety net while losing weight, and you should discuss anything beyond that with a pharmacist. Supplements sold as "natural GLP-1 boosters" are not equivalents and are not substitutes for prescribed treatment. They are low-cost supplements with no clinical oversight.

Food habits matter more than a shopping list. No food is banned. Prioritise protein at each meal, vegetables, fibre and regular fluids. Many people feel worse after very fatty, fried or very sugary food, and large portions sit heavily because the stomach empties more slowly. On alcohol, there is no direct interaction with Mounjaro. Drinking on a reduced appetite and emptier stomach can hit harder than usual, and alcohol adds calories. If you also take insulin or a sulfonylurea, alcohol increases the risk of low blood sugar. Mounjaro slows stomach emptying, which can reduce how well oral contraceptive pills are absorbed. The SmPC advises switching to a non-oral method, or adding a barrier method (such as condoms), for 4 weeks after starting Mounjaro and for 4 weeks after each dose increase. Moderation is the sensible rule.

Drink enough water too. Reduced appetite means less fluid from food, and vomiting or diarrhoea can dehydrate you quickly. Treat inability to keep fluids down as a reason to contact your clinical team.
