How does a Mounjaro repeat prescription work?

A Mounjaro repeat is a fresh supply issued after a prescriber confirms the medicine is still suitable and safe for you. It is not an automatic refill. In the UK, Mounjaro is a prescription-only medicine, so every supply needs a prescriber's decision, whether that happens through the NHS or privately.

With us, repeat orders re-check suitability each time, and there is no auto-shipping. You decide when to order, and a GPhC-registered prescriber reviews it. Payment is taken when you place the order; if the prescriber decides the treatment is not suitable, the order is refunded automatically in full.

02 · Your options

NHS repeat or private repeat: which route applies to you?

Which route applies depends on whether you currently receive Mounjaro through the NHS or from a private provider. The two systems do not share a repeat list. If a private provider issued your pens, the NHS will not simply continue them, and the reverse is also true.

Mounjaro is available on the NHS, but access is being phased in over several years. NICE recommends it for adults with a BMI of at least 35 plus at least one weight-related condition. The NHS primary-care rollout began in June 2025 with the highest-need groups first, initially BMI 40+ with four or more qualifying conditions.⁴⁶ Full rollout is expected to take years, which is why many people who meet the licensed criteria choose regulated private treatment rather than waiting.

03 · Costs

How much does a private Mounjaro repeat cost?

The standard price of one four-week pen runs from £169.99 at 2.5mg to £299.99 at 15mg, and every later order is £25 off that standard price (code DOSE25). Your own monthly cost depends on the dose you settle on. At 5mg a pen is £189.99, at 7.5mg it is £244.99, at 10mg £274.99 and at 12.5mg £289.99, all before the reorder discount.

A first year costs £2,399.88 if you settle at 5mg, up to £3,279.88 at 15mg. For 7.5mg, 10mg or 12.5mg, use that dose's monthly price rather than a year figure. Payment is by Visa or Mastercard, Klarna or pay-monthly options, and there is no subscription.

Reordering takes three steps, and the first is a short online health questionnaire, which is free with no obligation.

05 · Suitability re-checks

What is re-checked when you reorder?

A repeat order re-checks that Mounjaro is still suitable for you, using your current health and medicines. A prescriber assesses your BMI, medical history and current medicines before deciding whether it is suitable.¹ That assessment does not stop after your first order. It is the reason repeats are not automatic.

Mounjaro is licensed for weight management in adults with a BMI of 30 or above. It is also licensed for a BMI between 27 and 30 with at least one weight-related condition, such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, obstructive sleep apnoea, cardiovascular disease, prediabetes or type 2 diabetes. It must be used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity.¹¹¹

06 · Dose changes between pens

How do dose changes work on a repeat?

Your dose on a repeat is decided by the prescribing team, not chosen by you at checkout. Mounjaro comes as a pre-filled multi-dose KwikPen in six strengths: 2.5mg, 5mg, 7.5mg, 10mg, 12.5mg and 15mg.¹

Once in use, a pen can be kept out of the fridge at a temperature not above 30°C for up to 30 days after first use, and must then be thrown away. Do not use a pen that has been above 30°C or has been frozen.¹³ For unopened pens, store them in the fridge until first use. They keep until the printed expiry date. 07 · Planning your reorder

When should you reorder?

Reorder before your current pen runs out, because each pen covers four weeks and approval and delivery take time. Our standard process is same-day dispatch when ordered by 3pm, then free next-day tracked delivery. Allow a few days of slack so a delayed parcel does not interrupt your weekly dose.

You can only reorder if the prescriber is happy that Mounjaro remains suitable, so leave time for any questions. If your order is declined at consultation, you are refunded automatically in full, with refunds taking 5–10 working days.

08 · Gaps and stopping

What happens if you pause or stop between orders?

If you stop, Mounjaro stays in your system for some weeks, and nothing needs doing while it clears. Tirzepatide has a half-life of about five days, so after a final dose it takes roughly 4–5 weeks to clear the system. There is no way to speed this up.¹

If you have missed several doses, do not restart at your old strength on your own. Tell your prescriber how long the gap was, and they will advise on what is appropriate.

Stopping should always be planned with your prescriber. In SURMOUNT-4, people who stopped tirzepatide after 36 weeks regained on average 14% of body weight over the following year, while those who continued treatment lost a further 5.5% on average. Exercise also protects against regain if you later stop treatment, so keep your activity routine going. If cost is the reason for stopping, speak to us first. Klarna and pay-monthly options exist, and there is no subscription lock-in.

09 · Staying on track

What should you keep doing between repeats?

Between repeats, the habits that support treatment are protein at every meal, regular fluids, resistance exercise and sensible portions. Mounjaro is licensed alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity, not instead of them.

In SURMOUNT-1, a trial of 2,539 adults, people taking tirzepatide alongside diet and exercise lost on average 15% of their body weight on 5mg, 19.5% on 10mg and 20.9% on 15mg over 72 weeks, compared with 3.1% with lifestyle changes alone.² For someone starting at 100 kg, 20.9% is about 21 kg. These are trial averages, and individual results vary.

Drinking enough matters more than usual, because reduced appetite means less fluid from food. Vomiting or diarrhoea can dehydrate you quickly, which is the main route to the rare kidney problems reported with this class. If nausea or vomiting is persistent or you cannot keep fluids down, contact your clinical team, as dehydration needs medical help straight away.¹

Some of any rapid weight loss comes from lean tissue. Include a protein source at every meal and do resistance exercise two or more times a week, which matters more as the dose rises and appetite falls. No food is banned, but many people feel worse after very fatty, fried or very sugary food, and smaller, slower meals work better.¹

No supplement is required, but a standard daily multivitamin is a reasonable safety net if you are eating much less. Supplements sold as natural GLP-1 boosters are not equivalents and are not substitutes for prescribed treatment. Alcohol has no direct interaction with Mounjaro, but it can hit harder on a reduced appetite and emptier stomach, and with insulin or a sulfonylurea it raises the risk of low blood sugar.¹ Serious side effects are uncommon but need urgent attention. Seek immediate medical help for severe, persistent stomach pain that may spread to your back, with or without vomiting (possible pancreatitis); pain in the upper right abdomen, fever or yellowing of the skin or eyes (possible gallbladder problems); or signs of a severe allergic reaction such as swelling of the face or throat and difficulty breathing.

10 · Writing and sourcing prescriptions

How do you make sure a repeat supply is genuine?

Only use a pharmacy you can find on the GPhC register, and treat anyone offering to supply without a consultation or prescription as a warning sign. Our registration number is 9012878, and you can check it on the GPhC register.¹² The MHRA publishes counterfeit medicine alerts and runs the Yellow Card scheme for reporting side effects.⁷

11 · Other medicines

What about Foundayo, Wegovy and liraglutide?

Other weight-management medicines exist, and each has its own licence, dosing and prescriber assessment. Foundayo (orforglipron) is a once-daily GLP-1 tablet made by Eli Lilly, licensed for weight management in adults, and it may make oral contraceptive pills less effective: switch to a non-oral method or add a barrier method for 30 days after starting and for 30 days after each dose increase. Mounjaro slows stomach emptying, which can reduce how well oral contraceptive pills are absorbed: switch to a non-oral method, or add a barrier method (such as condoms), for 4 weeks after starting Mounjaro and for 4 weeks after each dose increase.

Wegovy (semaglutide) is a once-weekly injection with pens of 0.25mg, 0.5mg, 1mg, 1.7mg and 2.4mg. It steps up after at least 4 weeks and reaches the 2.4mg maintenance dose from week 17. Liraglutide (Saxenda, and products such as Erly) is supplied at 6mg per millilitre and is a daily injection, unlike once-weekly Mounjaro and Wegovy. NHS access to Wegovy runs through specialist weight-management services, so ask your GP.

Do not combine or swap these medicines without prescriber advice. Mounjaro and semaglutide products are separate treatments, and any switch needs a clinical decision.
