A quick overview

What to know
before you start.

  • Mounjaro Plus is not a licensed UK product; the licensed medicine is Mounjaro (tirzepatide) in six strengths, 2.5mg to 15mg.
  • "Tirzepatide plus" blends with vitamins, glycine or levocarnitine are not licensed Mounjaro and carry no approved safety or efficacy data.
  • "Plus" is also used in pharmacy and brand names, so check who actually dispenses the medicine and whether it is genuine Mounjaro.
  • Mounjaro must not be combined with other GLP-1 medicines, unlicensed research peptides or compounded copies.
  • A genuine Mounjaro KwikPen costs £169.99 at the 2.5mg starting dose, with no add-on mixture needed.

01 · The core answer

What does "Mounjaro plus" actually mean?

It does not describe a licensed product. In the UK, Mounjaro is the brand name for tirzepatide, made by Eli Lilly, and it comes as a pre-filled multi-dose KwikPen in six strengths: 2.5mg, 5mg, 7.5mg, 10mg, 12.5mg and 15mg.1 Nothing in that range is called "plus".

When the word appears next to tirzepatide, it normally means one of three things. It may be part of a pharmacy or clinic name. It may be a marketing label for a weight-loss programme that includes the licensed pen plus coaching or an app. Or it may describe a vial or pen that has been mixed with extra ingredients such as a vitamin, an amino acid or levocarnitine.

The first two are harmless if the medicine itself is genuine and prescribed properly. The third is the one to be careful about, because it is not Mounjaro as licensed.

02 · Your decision

What should you do if you want tirzepatide?

Ask for the licensed medicine, prescribed after a proper consultation. At EverydayMeds, Mounjaro is supplied only after a free online consultation reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber, and it is used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity.1 Our pens come through official LillyDirect supply, direct from Eli Lilly's UK distribution.

If you want to see current strengths and costs, the Mounjaro pen page with prices and consultation shows them live. Your first 2.5mg pen costs £129.99 with code FIRST40 (standard price £169.99), and every later order is £25 off the standard price. Stock is in stock, and prices were checked 10 October 2026.

If you are weighing up the wider picture, our weight loss clinic hub explains the licensed options side by side.

03 · Licensed Mounjaro explained

What licensed Mounjaro is, and what it already does

Mounjaro is a once-weekly injectable prescription medicine made by Eli Lilly, licensed in the UK for weight management in adults and for type 2 diabetes.1 The active ingredient is tirzepatide. Nothing needs to be added to it for it to work as designed.

Tirzepatide is the first treatment of its kind to activate two natural gut-hormone receptors at once: GIP and GLP-1. Together these help regulate appetite, slow how quickly the stomach empties, and improve the way the body responds to insulin.1 In practice, most people feel fuller sooner and less hungry between meals, which supports a reduced-calorie diet.

That dual action is what distinguishes Mounjaro from single-action GLP-1 medicines such as semaglutide. The point matters here because the "plus" in some marketing implies the standard pen is incomplete. It is not. The licensed product has a defined dose ladder, a tested pen and a patient information leaflet that describes exactly what is inside.13

A blend with extra ingredients has none of those protections. The pen's design, the dosing accuracy and the safety information all belong to the licensed product, not to a mixture someone has prepared.

04 · Add-on blends

Tirzepatide plus vitamins, glycine or levocarnitine

Sellers often present these as a "boosted" version that reduces side effects or improves results. Be wary of anyone who makes that claim.

There are several reasons for caution:

  • No licence. A mixture is not the KwikPen that the UK regulator assessed. Its strength, purity and stability have not been tested in the way the licensed pen's have.
  • No trial data. The weight-loss results quoted for tirzepatide come from trials of tirzepatide itself. They say nothing about a mixture with another ingredient.
  • No regulated supply chain. Mounjaro must not be combined with unlicensed "research" peptides or compounded copies, because these combinations have no safety data and no regulated supply chain.1
  • Counterfeit risk. The MHRA publishes counterfeit medicine alerts and runs the Yellow Card scheme for reporting suspected problems.7

If something promises faster results outside a licensed pathway, that is the warning sign. A prescriber can help with real concerns such as nausea or low appetite using the licensed pen itself, for example by holding a dose longer within the licence. That is a safer route than adding unproven ingredients.

05 · Individual add-ons

B vitamins, glycine and levocarnitine

Each is a separate substance, and each has its own rules. Vitamins and amino acids are sold as supplements in many shops, and that is a different category from a prescription injection.

Taking a vitamin or an amino acid as a separate supplement is a different question from having it mixed into an injection. Our related guides look at the common pairings in more detail, including tirzepatide and glycine and tirzepatide with vitamin B combinations. If you are curious about coenzyme-style add-ons, see our page on NAD and Mounjaro together.

The honest summary is simple. Mixing an ingredient into the injection removes the licensed pen's protections, and the ingredient has not been shown to add anything. If you feel you may be short of a nutrient, speak to your prescriber or GP about testing and a sensible plan rather than adding it to your medicine.

Dosing of supplements is not standardised. Whatever you take alongside Mounjaro, tell your prescriber so it can be reviewed for suitability.

06 · "Plus" brands and programmes

"Plus" in pharmacy names and GLP-1 programmes

A "plus" in a business name does not change the medicine. Some online pharmacies and clinics use the word in their trading names, and some programmes bundle the pen with coaching, apps or meal plans. That can be useful, but it is the same tirzepatide underneath.

What matters is whether the seller is a registered pharmacy and whether the medicine is genuine. The General Pharmaceutical Council keeps a public register of pharmacies and pharmacy professionals, and you can check any seller against it.12 EverydayMeds is registered with the GPhC under number 9012878.

Look for these signs of a legitimate service: a consultation reviewed by a registered prescriber, a prescription before supply, a pharmacy you can look up and genuine KwikPens in sealed packaging. Be cautious about anything offering to supply without a consultation or prescription.

Our guides on GLP-1 plus products and on review-site claims about a plus-branded product look at specific examples. Read reviews with care: a review tells you about service, not about whether a medicine is licensed or safe.

07 · Combining medicines safely

Combining Mounjaro with other products

Mounjaro must not be combined with other GLP-1 medicines, unlicensed "research" peptides (such as retatrutide, which has no UK licence), or compounded copies.1 This is the clearest rule behind the whole "plus" question. Anything that adds another active drug to tirzepatide falls into this category.

Switching between medicines is a separate matter. There is no licensed direct conversion between semaglutide and tirzepatide. Switching is done under prescriber supervision: typically the previous medicine is stopped, a washout interval observed, and Mounjaro started at a dose your prescriber judges appropriate, often the 2.5mg starting dose. Never run two GLP-1 medicines together.1

If you are unsure whether a supplement or another medicine is compatible, ask your prescriber before starting it. Bring the packaging or the ingredient list.

08 · Licensed alternatives

If you want something "more", the licensed options

If "plus" means you want an alternative or an extra option, the licensed choices are clear. The licensed weight-management options are Mounjaro (tirzepatide) and Wegovy (semaglutide 2.4mg). Ozempic is semaglutide licensed for type 2 diabetes and is not a UK weight-loss medicine, so a regulated UK pharmacy will not supply it for weight loss.1

In the first large head-to-head trial (SURMOUNT-5), adults on tirzepatide lost on average 20.2% of body weight over 72 weeks versus 13.7% on semaglutide 2.4mg (Wegovy). Both are effective, licensed treatments; which suits you depends on your health profile, tolerance and prescriber advice, not the headline number alone.15 Individual results vary. You can look at the Wegovy pen if you want to compare the two.

There is no tablet form of Mounjaro. Two GLP-1 weight-loss tablets are now licensed in the UK: Wegovy tablets and Foundayo. They are different medicines from Mounjaro, with their own dosing, eligibility checks and trial results, and both are prescription-only.

"Natural GLP-1" supplements such as berberine are not medicines, are not regulated for this use and have no comparable trial evidence. They are low-cost supplements with no clinical oversight, and they are not a stand-in for tirzepatide. Our page on glucomannan and konjac capsules covers another "plus" style product in the same category.

09 · Realistic results

What results to expect without add-ons

Weight loss on Mounjaro is gradual by design, and no add-on speeds it up. The first weeks on 2.5mg are an adjustment phase and losses are usually modest; most measurable progress builds from 5mg onward, month by month. Trials measured results at 72 weeks, so think in months, not days, and judge progress by trend, not individual weigh-ins.1

Everyone starts on 2.5mg once a week. This starting dose is about letting your body adjust, not about weight loss itself. After at least 4 weeks the dose increases to 5mg, and can then step up by 2.5mg at a minimum of 4-week intervals up to a maximum of 15mg weekly, depending on how you respond and tolerate it. Many people settle at a maintenance dose of 5mg, 10mg or 15mg; higher is not automatically better.1

Mild nausea, altered appetite and tiredness in the first days after each injection are the commonest early effects and usually settle.13 Treatment response is reviewed by your prescriber: if you have lost less than 5% of your starting weight after 6 months on the highest dose you can tolerate, your prescriber will discuss whether continuing or stopping is right for you.1

That structure, a licensed dose ladder with prescriber review, is the real "plus" worth paying for: clinical oversight. At EverydayMeds, ongoing monthly reviews and side-effect support are included, and repeat orders re-check suitability.

10 · Serious side effects

Serious side effects: when to get help straight away

Serious side effects are uncommon but need urgent attention. Seek immediate medical help for: severe, persistent stomach pain that may spread to your back, with or without vomiting (possible pancreatitis); pain in the upper right abdomen, fever or yellowing of skin/eyes (possible gallbladder problems); or signs of a severe allergic reaction such as swelling of the face or throat and difficulty breathing. If you take insulin or a sulfonylurea alongside Mounjaro, watch for low blood sugar (shakiness, sweating, confusion) — your prescriber may need to adjust those medicines.1

11 · NHS and spotting scams

NHS access and how to buy safely

Mounjaro is available on the NHS, but access is being phased in over several years. NICE recommends it for adults with a BMI of at least 35 plus at least one weight-related condition, and the NHS primary-care rollout began in June 2025 with the highest-need groups first (initially BMI 40+ with four or more qualifying conditions).46 Full rollout is expected to take years, which is why many people who meet the licensed criteria choose regulated private treatment rather than waiting.

Whichever route you choose, a few habits keep you safe:

  • Buy only from a registered pharmacy that requires a consultation and prescription.
  • Be sceptical of offers that name unusual blends, "boosted" pens or dramatic weight-loss claims.
  • Check the pen: genuine KwikPens come in sealed packaging with a patient information leaflet.
  • Store pens in a fridge at 2–8°C and never freeze them. Once in use, a pen can be kept out of the fridge not above 30°C for up to 30 days, after which it should be discarded.1
  • Report suspected side effects or suspicious products through the Yellow Card scheme.19

Your questions, answered

Mounjaro price UK — frequently asked questions

Answers to common questions about Mounjaro prices, NHS access and ongoing treatment.

Ask our pharmacy team
What is Mounjaro Plus?
Mounjaro Plus is not a licensed medicine. The licensed product is Mounjaro (tirzepatide), a once-weekly injection in six strengths from 2.5mg to 15mg. "Plus" usually appears in pharmacy names, programme branding or unlicensed blends with added ingredients. If a seller offers something labelled this way, ask exactly what is in the pen and who prescribes and dispenses it.
What is tirzepatide plus, and how does it differ from tirzepatide?
Tirzepatide plus normally means tirzepatide mixed with another ingredient, such as a vitamin, glycine or levocarnitine. It is not the licensed KwikPen. Mounjaro must not be combined with unlicensed peptides or compounded copies, because these combinations have no safety data and no regulated supply chain. Licensed tirzepatide has a defined dose ladder and a patient leaflet.
Does adding vitamins, glycine or levocarnitine to tirzepatide help weight loss?
There is no evidence that adding vitamins, glycine or levocarnitine to tirzepatide helps weight loss, and mixing ingredients into an injection removes the licensed pen's protections. If you are worried about nutrition, speak to your prescriber or GP about testing and a sensible plan instead of adding anything to your medicine.
How much weight can you lose on Mounjaro in 3 months?
It varies from person to person. Three months in, most people are still on the lower rungs of the dose ladder, so a sensible 3-month expectation on a standard titration is mid single digits as a percentage of body weight, with wide individual variation. Weight loss is gradual by design: the early weeks on 2.5mg are an adjustment phase and losses are usually modest, with most progress building from 5mg onward. Trials measured results at 72 weeks, so think in months, judge the trend, and remember individual results vary.
Which is safer, Mounjaro or Wegovy?
Both are licensed, effective treatments, and neither is simply safer. Which suits you depends on your health profile, tolerance and prescriber advice. In the SURMOUNT-5 head-to-head trial, tirzepatide produced greater average weight loss than semaglutide 2.4mg over 72 weeks. A prescriber can discuss your history and the side effects listed in each leaflet.
What drugs should you not take with Mounjaro?
Do not combine Mounjaro with other GLP-1 medicines, unlicensed research peptides such as retatrutide, or compounded copies. Never run two GLP-1 medicines together, including during a switch from semaglutide, which a prescriber supervises. Tell your prescriber about every medicine and supplement you take so suitability can be checked.
Is there a Mounjaro tablet or a cheaper alternative?
There is no tablet form of Mounjaro; tirzepatide is injection-only in the UK. Wegovy tablets and Foundayo are separate licensed GLP-1 tablets with their own dosing and eligibility checks. Supplements such as berberine are not medicines and have no comparable trial evidence.
How long does Mounjaro stay in your system after stopping?
Tirzepatide has a half-life of about five days, so after a final dose it takes roughly four to five weeks to clear the system. There is no way to speed this up, and nothing needs doing while it clears. Speak to your prescriber before stopping so your plan is reviewed.
