That structure matters more than a seasonal banner. The reorder discount applies to every pen after your first, which is where most of the cost of treatment sits. The consultation is free, and the price shown is the price paid, with no hidden fees. Delivery is free and next-day on a tracked service, with Saturday delivery at £14.99. 04 · What Mounjaro is

What Mounjaro is and how it works

Mounjaro is the brand name for tirzepatide, a once-weekly injectable prescription medicine made by Eli Lilly. In the UK it is licensed for weight management in adults and for type 2 diabetes. It comes as a pre-filled multi-dose pen, the KwikPen, in six strengths: 2.5mg, 5mg, 7.5mg, 10mg, 12.5mg and 15mg.¹

Tirzepatide is the first treatment of its kind to activate two natural gut-hormone receptors at once: GIP and GLP-1. Together these help regulate appetite, slow how quickly the stomach empties, and improve the way the body responds to insulin. In practice, most people feel fuller sooner and less hungry between meals, which supports a reduced-calorie diet.¹

This dual action is what distinguishes Mounjaro from single-action GLP-1 medicines such as semaglutide (Wegovy and Ozempic). That is a difference in mechanism, not a promise that one suits you better. Your prescriber weighs your history, your other medicines and your goals.

Tirzepatide has a half-life of about five days, so after a final dose it takes roughly 4–5 weeks to clear the system. There is no way to speed this up, and nothing needs doing while it clears.¹ It is a useful fact when you are deciding whether to pause or stop, and it is why you should tell any prescriber or clinician that you have recently taken it.

05 · Who can have it

Who can be prescribed Mounjaro privately

Mounjaro is licensed for weight management in adults with a BMI of 30 or above, or a BMI between 27 and 30 with at least one weight-related condition. Examples include high blood pressure, high cholesterol, obstructive sleep apnoea, cardiovascular disease, prediabetes or type 2 diabetes. It must be used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity.¹

Meeting a BMI threshold does not entitle anyone to a prescription. A prescriber will assess your BMI, medical history and current medicines before deciding whether it is suitable for you.¹¹ That is why our free consultation is reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber and why a discount code cannot buy your way past it. Payment is taken when you place the order; if the prescriber decides the treatment is not suitable, the order is refunded automatically in full.

This is also the first test of any seller advertising a Black Friday Mounjaro deal. A genuine pharmacy asks about your health first. A seller offering to supply without a consultation or prescription is not operating as a pharmacy, however attractive the price looks.

Preparing for your consultation helps. Have these ready:

• Your current weight and height, so a BMI can be assessed.
• Any conditions you have been diagnosed with, particularly those linked to weight such as high blood pressure or prediabetes.
• A list of all your current medicines, including anything bought over the counter.
• Any previous weight-loss treatments you have tried.

Being honest here matters more than any saving. The questionnaire exists to protect you, and answers that are incomplete can lead to a decline, which we refund in full.

If you are already on another GLP-1 or similar treatment and thinking of moving, say so in the consultation. 06 · NHS or private

NHS or private: the honest picture

Mounjaro is available on the NHS, but access is being phased in over several years. NICE recommends it for adults with a BMI of at least 35 plus at least one weight-related condition.⁴ The NHS primary-care rollout began in June 2025 with the highest-need groups first, initially BMI 40+ with four or more qualifying conditions.⁶

Full rollout is expected to take years, which is why many people who meet the licensed criteria choose regulated private treatment rather than waiting.⁵ If you may fit an NHS group, ask your GP first. An NHS prescription in England carries the standard charge of £9.90 per item unless you are exempt, which is a very different cost from a private pen.

The choice is not all-or-nothing. Some people join an NHS pathway and bridge privately in the meantime. Others find that they do not meet the earlier NHS groups and see private treatment as the only realistic route for now. Neither is wrong. What matters is that whichever route you use, a clinician reviews you and you have follow-up.

If you are paying privately, the discount structure is what you can plan around. If you may qualify on the NHS, a private discount, however good, is worth comparing against waiting for an NHS appointment. We would rather you made that comparison than ordered on impulse.

A few questions to ask yourself before paying privately:

• Do I fit the NHS groups being prioritised now, or am I likely to wait years?
• Can I afford the likely dose over a full year, not just the first pen?
• Am I comfortable with ongoing monthly reviews and with stopping if the prescriber advises it?

If the answers are yes, private treatment through a regulated pharmacy is a reasonable option. If the second answer is no, price your year at your likely dose before you start.

07 · What trials show

What the main trial showed

In the SURMOUNT-1 trial of 2,539 adults, people taking tirzepatide alongside diet and exercise lost on average 15% of their body weight on 5mg, 19.5% on 10mg and 20.9% on 15mg over 72 weeks, compared with 3.1% with lifestyle changes alone.²

These are trial averages. Individual results vary, and treatment works alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity, not instead of them. Trial averages do not predict your own result.

The same trial reports how many people reached particular thresholds. At 72 weeks, 85% of participants on 5mg, 89% on 10mg and 91% on 15mg had lost at least 5% of their body weight. Half of participants on 10mg and 57% on 15mg lost at least 20% of their body weight.²

To make the percentages concrete, take a worked example. For someone starting at 100 kg, 15% is about 15 kg, 19.5% is about 19.5 kg and 20.9% is about 21 kg. It is straight arithmetic on the trial averages, not a forecast for any individual and not a timetable.

A price comparison only means something against what you are buying. The trial results are grouped by dose, and higher doses cost more. If you read a very low promotional price, ask which dose it applies to and whether you would stay on that dose. The trial figures also relate to a 72-week course, which is far longer than a single pen. A first-pen saving is a small part of that picture.

It is also worth being sceptical of anyone selling dramatic weight-loss claims alongside a discount. A regulated pharmacy states results with the trial name and the caveat that results vary.

08 · Safe buying

Buying safely during sale season

The safest Mounjaro purchase is from a pharmacy you can find on the GPhC register. Ours is registered under number 9012878, and you can check any UK online pharmacy yourself on the public register.¹²

Sale seasons attract opportunists. Mounjaro is a prescription-only medicine, so a seller offering to supply without a consultation or prescription is a warning sign. So are social media accounts, unbranded pens, and prices far below what regulated pharmacies show. The MHRA publishes counterfeit medicine alerts and runs the Yellow Card scheme for reporting suspected problems.⁷

Social media rumours add noise too. Speculation about who is using the medicine, such as the discussion around celebrity weight-loss claims, is no guide to what is safe or right for you.

09 · Should you wait

Should you wait for a sale?

For most people the clinical decision should come first, not the timing of a sale.

Treatment starts at 2.5mg and steps up. If you step up after 4 weeks on each dose, your first four pens (2.5mg to 10mg) cost £879.96 at standard prices before discounts. A new customer's first order is £40 less, and every later order £25 less. Timing a purchase to a sale changes one pen at most. The ongoing discount structure changes every pen after it.

Consider these points:

• Your dose is a clinical decision. The prescriber guides each step up. You should not delay or skip steps to catch a promotion.
• Stopping has a clearance period. Tirzepatide has a half-life of about five days and takes roughly 4–5 weeks to clear after a final dose, so a pause is not instant.¹
• Results depend on the whole plan. The trial averages sit alongside diet and exercise over 72 weeks.²

For storage, keep unopened pens in the fridge until first use; they keep until the printed expiry date. Once in use, a KwikPen can be kept out of the fridge at a temperature not above 30°C for up to 30 days after first use, and must then be thrown away. Check the leaflet for details.¹

10 · Serious side effects

Serious side effects: when to get help straight away

Serious side effects are uncommon but need urgent attention. Seek immediate medical help for: severe, persistent stomach pain that may spread to your back, with or without vomiting (possible pancreatitis); pain in the upper right abdomen, fever or yellowing of skin/eyes (possible gallbladder problems); or signs of a severe allergic reaction such as swelling of the face or throat and difficulty breathing. If you take insulin or a sulfonylurea alongside Mounjaro, watch for low blood sugar (shakiness, sweating, confusion) — your prescriber may need to adjust those medicines.¹ Tell your prescriber about any new or lasting symptom, and you can report suspected side effects through the MHRA Yellow Card scheme.
