01 · How to compare
How to compare Mounjaro prices like for like
A fair comparison starts with the same dose and the same pen size. A low headline price for 2.5mg tells you little about what you will pay at 7.5mg or 10mg. Many people reach those doses only after several months, so compare the price at the dose you actually need.
Then look at what the price includes. Ask each provider these questions:
- Is the consultation free, or charged separately?
- Is delivery free and temperature-controlled, or an extra?
- Are monthly clinical reviews and dose-titration support included?
- Is the price shown the price paid, with no hidden fees?
- Can you check the pharmacy on the GPhC register?
With us, the consultation is free and the price shown is the price paid. Delivery is free next-day tracked (DPD, temperature-controlled, discreet), and a Saturday delivery is £14.99. Same-day dispatch applies when you order by 3pm. Ongoing monthly reviews, dose-titration and side-effect support from the prescribing team are part of the service. You can pay by Visa or Mastercard, or use Klarna or pay-monthly options, and there is no subscription lock-in.
For wider price context, see our full UK price comparison, which covers every dose. If 7.5mg is your question, see our 7.5mg price breakdown.
02 · Total cost
Planning the total cost: titration to a year
The monthly price matters less than the total. You cannot start at 10mg: the licensed ladder begins at 2.5mg and steps up at no less than 4-week intervals.1 A new customer's first order is £40 less, and every later order is £25 less.
| Stage | Pens | Cost at standard prices |
|---|---|---|
| First year, settling at 5mg | 13 | £2,399.88 |
| First year, settling at 15mg | 13 | £3,279.88 |
| One month at 7.5mg | 1 | £244.99 |
| One month at 10mg | 1 | £274.99 |
A year at 10mg is not shown as a single figure because it depends on how many months you spend on lower doses first. Use the monthly price for the months you expect at each dose. Your prescriber reviews your response and tolerance, and higher is not automatically better.1
03 · Ordering
How ordering works
Ordering takes three steps. First, complete the free online consultation, a short health questionnaire with no charge and no obligation. Second, a GPhC-registered prescriber reviews it. Payment is taken when you place the order; if the prescriber decides the treatment is not suitable, the order is refunded automatically in full. Third, our registered pharmacy dispenses and dispatches your pen, with free next-day tracked delivery. Start your free consultation to see whether treatment is suitable. Repeat orders re-check suitability, and nothing ships automatically.
04 · What Mounjaro is
What Mounjaro is and why dose matters for price
Mounjaro is the brand name for tirzepatide, a once-weekly injectable prescription medicine made by Eli Lilly. In the UK it is licensed for weight management in adults and for type 2 diabetes. It comes as a pre-filled multi-dose pen, the KwikPen, in six strengths: 2.5mg, 5mg, 7.5mg, 10mg, 12.5mg and 15mg.1
That list of six strengths is the reason a price comparison has to name a dose. A provider's headline figure usually refers to one strength, often the starting pen. If you plan to be on 7.5mg or 10mg, the starting price tells you little about your real monthly cost.
Tirzepatide is the first treatment of its kind to activate two natural gut-hormone receptors at once, GIP and GLP-1. Together these help regulate appetite, slow how quickly the stomach empties and improve the way the body responds to insulin. In practice, most people feel fuller sooner and less hungry between meals, which supports a reduced-calorie diet.1 This dual action is what distinguishes Mounjaro from single-action GLP-1 medicines such as semaglutide (Wegovy and Ozempic).
Tirzepatide has a half-life of about five days. After a final dose it takes roughly 4–5 weeks to clear the system. There is no way to speed this up, and nothing needs doing while it clears.1
It is also worth knowing who makes the medicine you are pricing. Mounjaro is manufactured by Eli Lilly. Genuine UK stock is supplied through Lilly's official distribution to licensed pharmacies, and every pen carries a batch number and expiry date that can be checked.7 Our own supply is official LillyDirect supply, direct from Eli Lilly's UK distribution, with all six strengths stocked.
For a broader view of what each dose costs at different providers, our Mounjaro price comparison guide lines up the full range. If you only want the quick monthly numbers, the monthly cost chart is the shortest route. Whatever you read, make sure each price you compare is for the same strength and the same pen size.
05 · Where 7.5mg and 10mg sit
Where 7.5mg and 10mg sit on the dose ladder
Everyone starts Mounjaro on 2.5mg once a week. This starting dose is about letting your body adjust, not about weight loss itself. After at least 4 weeks the dose increases to 5mg. It can then step up by 2.5mg at a minimum of 4-week intervals (7.5mg, 10mg, 12.5mg) up to a maximum of 15mg weekly, depending on how you respond and tolerate it.1
So 7.5mg is the third step and 10mg the fourth. If you move up at the fastest licensed pace, the first four pens are 2.5mg, 5mg, 7.5mg and 10mg. That is why the first four pens cost £879.96 at standard prices (4 pens), before any discount.
Many people settle at a maintenance dose of 5mg, 10mg or 15mg.1 Your prescriber guides the pace, and there is no obligation to reach the top of the ladder. If you do well at 7.5mg, your prescriber can discuss staying there.
This has a direct price consequence. Because each step costs more than the last, the sensible way to compare providers is to think about the dose you are likely to use for the longest stretch. For someone who ends up at 10mg, the 10mg monthly price decides most of the cost. For someone who stays at 7.5mg, the 7.5mg price does. At EverydayMeds, 7.5mg is £244.99 and 10mg is £274.99 per month at standard prices.
If you are already on 7.5mg or 10mg with another provider and thinking of switching, the new-customer discount of £40 applies to a first order at any dose with code FIRST40. Your prescriber will take your current dose and history into account in the consultation. You can see our dose-specific guides, such as the 10mg monthly cost guide, for more detail.
06 · What to expect at 10mg
What to expect at 10mg: the trial evidence
Price only makes sense next to what you may get for it, so here is the evidence. In the SURMOUNT-1 trial of 2,539 adults, people taking tirzepatide alongside diet and exercise lost on average 15% of their body weight on 5mg, 19.5% on 10mg and 20.9% on 15mg over 72 weeks, compared with 3.1% with lifestyle changes alone.2
These are trial averages. Individual results vary, and treatment works alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity, not instead of them. Trial averages do not predict your own result, so treat them as context rather than a promise.2
At 72 weeks, 85% of participants on 5mg, 89% on 10mg and 91% on 15mg had lost at least 5% of their body weight. Half of participants on 10mg and 57% on 15mg lost at least 20% of their body weight.2 As a worked example only, for someone starting at 100 kg, 19.5% is about 19.5 kg. That is straight arithmetic from the trial percentage, not a forecast for you or a timescale.
The pace is gradual by design. The first weeks on 2.5mg are an adjustment phase and losses are usually modest. Most measurable progress builds from 5mg onward, month by month. Trials measured results at 72 weeks, so think in months, not days, and judge progress by trend rather than individual weigh-ins.1
Treatment response is reviewed by your prescriber. If you have lost less than 5% of your starting weight after 6 months on the highest dose you can tolerate, your prescriber will discuss whether continuing or stopping is right for you.1
The early weeks also vary. Some people notice appetite change and early loss in week one, others feel little until a higher dose, and both are normal. Early loss includes water weight, so the trend over weeks matters more than any single weigh-in. Mild nausea, altered appetite and tiredness in the first days after each injection are the commonest early effects and usually settle.1
07 · Who can get it
Who can get Mounjaro privately
Mounjaro is licensed for weight management in adults with a BMI of 30 or above, or a BMI between 27 and 30 with at least one weight-related condition. Examples include high blood pressure, high cholesterol, obstructive sleep apnoea, cardiovascular disease, prediabetes or type 2 diabetes. It must be used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity.1
A prescriber assesses your BMI, medical history and current medicines before deciding whether it is suitable for you.1 That is why a low price is never the whole story. A legitimate provider will not sell you a pen simply because you have paid. Mounjaro is a prescription-only medicine, supplied only after an online consultation reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber.
The first step is a free online consultation, a short health questionnaire with no charge and no obligation. A GPhC-registered prescriber then reviews it. This is a clinician's review, not a scoring script. Payment is taken when you place the order; if the prescriber decides the treatment is not suitable, the order is refunded automatically in full.
Interactions are one of the things the prescriber checks. Mounjaro slows stomach emptying, which can reduce how well oral contraceptive pills are absorbed. The SmPC advises switching to a non-oral method, or adding a barrier method (such as condoms), for 4 weeks after starting Mounjaro and for 4 weeks after each dose increase.1 If you take insulin or sulfonylureas, doses may need adjusting because of the risk of low blood sugar. Tell the prescriber about every medicine you take, including those you buy without a prescription.7
Once you are on treatment, support continues. Aftercare includes ongoing monthly reviews, dose-titration and follow-up assessments by the prescribing team, plus side-effect support. Repeat orders re-check suitability, and nothing is auto-shipped. Our support team is available Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, by email at support@everydaymeds.co.uk, through the account portal chat or on 0333 207 0413.
If you want to track your progress, GLPTrackr is our free companion app for tracking a GLP-1 journey on iOS and Android. It is separate from the prescribing decision, but many people find it useful for keeping a record of doses and weight trends between reviews.
Read the patient information leaflet that comes with your pen before you start, and report any suspected side effect through the Yellow Card scheme.13 Our weight loss treatments page shows the other options we offer if Mounjaro turns out not to be suitable.
08 · NHS or private
NHS or private: the honest picture
Mounjaro is available on the NHS, but access is being phased in over several years. NICE recommends it for adults with a BMI of at least 35 plus at least one weight-related condition. The NHS primary-care rollout began in June 2025 with the highest-need groups first, initially people with a BMI of 40 or above and four or more qualifying conditions.46
Full rollout is expected to take years. That is why many people who meet the licensed criteria choose regulated private treatment rather than waiting. Our own NHS and private comparison sets the two routes side by side.
If you are weighing up the NHS prescription charge, the figure in England is £9.90 per item for those who pay. That is a separate matter from the cost of private supply, and whether it applies to you depends on your circumstances and what is prescribed. Ask your GP or pharmacist what applies to you.
People with type 2 diabetes sometimes ask whether they can get Mounjaro on the NHS. Mounjaro is licensed for type 2 diabetes, and access depends on local services and clinical need.5 Your GP or diabetes team is the right person to ask, because they hold your history and know what your local service offers.
Private treatment is a different route with a different trade-off: you pay, but you can start once a prescriber approves the order, rather than waiting for a local service to reach you. The honest way to decide is to compare three things. First, are you likely to be offered NHS treatment soon? Second, what would private treatment cost you for the dose you will be on? Third, can you afford it for as long as you intend to stay on it?
If you are paying privately while waiting for an NHS place, talk to your prescriber about the transition so that your dose and monitoring continue safely.
For Wegovy, NHS access runs through specialist weight-management services; ask your GP. You can read about our Wegovy pen if you want to compare the two medicines.
09 · Spotting fake pens
Why a very low price should make you check
A very low price is a reason to look harder at the seller. The MHRA has seized thousands of fake weight-loss pens in the UK and has issued alerts after falsified Mounjaro pens were identified. Fake pens have caused hospitalisations, and some contained insulin rather than tirzepatide.7
Only buy from a pharmacy you can verify on the GPhC register, never from social media, beauty salons or unverified websites. Genuine treatment always involves a prescription and a clinical consultation.7 Anyone offering to supply without a consultation or prescription is not operating legitimately, whatever the price. Our registration number is GPhC 9012878, and you can look it up on the GPhC register.12
Once a pen arrives, there are checks you can make. A genuine UK Mounjaro pen comes from a registered pharmacy with a batch number and expiry date, arrives cold-chain packaged, and the solution inside is clear and colourless.7
Do not use a pen if any of the following applies:
- It has been frozen.
- It looks cloudy or discoloured.
- It has particles in it.
- It is past its expiry.
- It has been out of the fridge for more than 30 days in use, or has been above 30°C.
If supply or packaging ever seems wrong, check the pharmacy on the GPhC register and contact the pharmacy before injecting.7
This is why our price comparisons are about regulated providers. A pen that is cheaper because it is not genuine, not stored properly or not prescribed is not a saving. The sensible comparison is between licensed UK pharmacies, using the same dose and the same service features, and that is what our index of tracked pharmacies covers.
When you compare, also look at how the product reaches you. Free next-day tracked delivery in temperature-controlled packaging, with a batch number and expiry date on the pen, is the standard to expect. If a price looks too good to be true, spend two minutes on the register before you spend anything on the medicine.
You can report a suspected counterfeit or any side effect through the MHRA Yellow Card scheme. Reporting helps regulators spot problems early, and it is free.7
10 · False economies
Saving money safely: what not to do
If the cost of 7.5mg or 10mg is a worry, there are safe ways to manage it and several unsafe ones. Mounjaro is licensed as a once-weekly medicine, and its blood levels are designed around a 7-day cycle.
Talk to your clinical team rather than self-adjusting.1
Genuine savings come from comparing providers on the same dose, using any new-customer or reorder discount, and choosing a service that includes consultations and reviews rather than charging extra for them. They do not come from changing how the medicine is taken. Our guide to the injection price comparison covers how to weigh a lower price against the service you get.
11 · Using your pen
Using, storing and travelling with your pen
Mounjaro is injected under the skin (subcutaneously) once a week, on the same day each week, at any time of day, with or without food. Licensed injection sites are the stomach area (at least 5cm from the belly button), the front of the thigh, or the back of the upper arm if someone else gives the injection. Rotate the site with each dose. Each KwikPen contains four weekly doses.1 Follow the pen's instructions for the injection itself. Needles, a sharps bin and injection guidance are included with every order.
There is no "best" time of day. Mounjaro works the same morning or evening, with or without food. What matters is the same day each week. Many people choose a weekend morning so early side effects fall on days off.1
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you can within 4 days (96 hours) of the scheduled time, then carry on with your usual day. If more than 4 days have passed, skip the missed dose entirely and take the next one on your normal day. Never take two doses within 3 days of each other.1 You can change your injection day if needed, as long as at least 3 days (72 hours) have passed since your last dose.1
Keep pens in a fridge at 2–8°C and never freeze them. Once in use, a pen can be kept out of the fridge not above 30°C for up to 30 days, which is useful for short trips, after which it should be discarded. Keep the cap on to protect it from light, and never use a pen that has been frozen.1
You can fly with Mounjaro. Carry pens in hand luggage, because hold luggage can fall below freezing, ideally in a cool bag with the prescription label or a copy of your prescription. In-use pens tolerate up to 30 days not above 30°C, so most holidays need no special arrangements. For hot climates use an insulated pouch, and check destination rules for travelling with prescription injectables before you fly.1
Unopened pens should be kept in the fridge and keep until the expiry date printed on the box. If an unopened pen has been out of the fridge, check with the pharmacy before using it rather than relying on a remembered day limit. Figures circulating online often come from other countries' labels, so the patient information leaflet and your pharmacy are the sources to trust.13
Storage matters for cost too. A pen that has been frozen or left out of the fridge has to be set aside, so careful handling protects the money you have spent. Read our 10mg next-day delivery guide for how orders arrive and what to do on delivery day.
12 · Comparing providers
Choosing a provider
Our figures come from our own index of the UK pharmacies we track, last checked 24 October 2026. Across those pharmacies, a 2.5mg starting pen ranges from £143.96 to £179.99. Across all doses and providers the range is wider, from £143.96 to £319.99. The smallest and largest gaps between providers for the same dose are £20 and £36.03. That spread is the reason it pays to compare at your own dose.
Look for these things beyond the pen price:
- Total cost. Add any consultation fee, delivery charge and review charge to the pen price. With us the consultation is free and delivery is free next-day tracked.
- Pricing after the first order. Some offers apply only once.
- Clinical oversight. Look for a GPhC-registered prescriber who reviews you, not a form that approves everyone.
- Ongoing support. Monthly reviews, dose-titration help and a named way to contact the team.
- Flexibility. Klarna and pay-monthly options, and no subscription lock-in.
Also think about how often prices change. Because dose prices are set by each provider, a figure you saw last month may differ today. We date our price checks, and these figures were checked 24 October 2026. If you are reading an older comparison somewhere else, look at its date before you rely on it.
The September price comparison shows how the picture looked around the list-price change, while the lowest 10mg prices page focuses on one dose.
Finally, decide how long you expect to be on treatment. A provider that is slightly dearer per pen but includes reviews, dose guidance and support may cost less overall than one that charges for each extra. Your prescriber's review of your response is part of that value, because it tells you when a dose is working and when it is time to change plan.
13 · Serious side effects
Serious side effects: when to get help straight away
Serious side effects are uncommon but need urgent attention. Seek immediate medical help for: severe, persistent stomach pain that may spread to your back, with or without vomiting (possible pancreatitis); pain in the upper right abdomen, fever or yellowing of skin/eyes (possible gallbladder problems); or signs of a severe allergic reaction such as swelling of the face or throat and difficulty breathing. If you take insulin or a sulfonylurea alongside Mounjaro, watch for low blood sugar (shakiness, sweating, confusion) — your prescriber may need to adjust those medicines.1
How ordering works
How ordering works at EverydayMeds
Three steps, with our pharmacy team alongside you.
Step 1: Online consultation — 5–10 minutes
Complete a confidential health questionnaire covering BMI, medical history and current medication. No payment is taken until you're approved.
Step 2: Prescriber review — usually same day
A UK registered prescriber checks your suitability against the licensed criteria (BMI ≥30, or ≥27 with a weight-related condition) and contraindications, and confirms your starting dose.
Step 3: Next-day tracked delivery
Dispensed by our GPhC-registered pharmacy in temperature-controlled packaging with needles and a sharps bin included. Orders approved by 3pm for next-day tracked delivery.
Prescription and dispatch follow clinical approval. Confirm current delivery options when ordering.
Afterwards you're not on your own: dose-change reviews are built in before each step up, our pharmacist team is available for side-effect questions, and repeat orders re-check suitability rather than auto-shipping.
