Your Mounjaro price guide · October 2026

List of GLP-1 Receptor Agonists in the UK (October 2026)

The main GLP-1 receptor agonists in UK use as of October 2026 are tirzepatide (Mounjaro), semaglutide (Wegovy, Ozempic and Wegovy tablets), liraglutide (Saxenda and Erly) and orforglipron (Foundayo). Tirzepatide also activates the GIP receptor, so it is a dual agonist.1 All are prescription-only.

A quick overview

What to know
before you start.

  • Tirzepatide (Mounjaro) is a GLP-1 medicine that also activates GIP, so it is a dual-action treatment.
  • Semaglutide is sold as Wegovy and Ozempic, and as Wegovy tablets, a once-daily oral form.
  • Liraglutide is a daily injection, unlike once-weekly Mounjaro and Wegovy.
  • Orforglipron (Foundayo) is an oral tablet described as a small-molecule GLP-1 receptor agonist.
  • Never combine GLP-1 medicines or use unlicensed 'research' peptides; a prescriber chooses the right option.

02 · Mounjaro

Is Mounjaro a GLP-1 agonist?

Yes. Tirzepatide activates two natural gut-hormone receptors at once, GIP and GLP-1, which is what separates it from single-action medicines such as semaglutide.1 If weight management is your goal, see the weight loss clinic for the next step, or read how these medicines work in the body.

03 · How the medicines differ

How the medicines differ

The practical differences are the receptors targeted, the schedule and the form. Mounjaro and the Wegovy pen are once weekly, and liraglutide is a daily injection. Wegovy tablets and Foundayo are oral options.2021

Mounjaro starts at 2.5mg and moves through its strengths under prescriber review.1 For a general overview, see our guide to a GLP-1 receptor agonist.

04 · Not on the licensed list

Not on the licensed list

Retatrutide has no UK licence, and unlicensed 'research' peptides or compounded copies have no safety data and no regulated supply chain. Promises of faster results outside a licensed pathway are the warning sign. Supplements sold as natural alternatives are not GLP-1 medicines; see our page on natural GLP-1 receptor agonists.

05 · Safety and combinations

Safety and combinations

Mounjaro must not be combined with other GLP-1 medicines, so you take one at a time. Because it slows stomach emptying, it can affect how quickly some oral medicines are absorbed, particularly when you start or increase the dose. Tell your prescriber about everything you take, especially warfarin or other narrow-margin medicines, insulin, or sulfonylureas, where doses may need reducing to avoid low blood sugar.

Report any suspected side effect through the Yellow Card scheme.19 Our guide to the adverse effects of GLP-1 receptor agonists covers what to expect. Seek immediate medical help for severe, persistent stomach pain that may spread to your back, with or without vomiting (possible pancreatitis); pain in the upper right abdomen, fever or yellowing of skin or eyes (possible gallbladder problems); or signs of a severe allergic reaction such as swelling of the face or throat and difficulty breathing.

06 · Cost and access

Cost and access

Prices differ by medicine and dose. A new customer's first 2.5mg Mounjaro pen costs £129.99 with code FIRST40 (standard price £169.99), and the first Wegovy pen is £99.99 as a first-order price. For a side-by-side view, see the price per month by medicine and our GLP-1 cost guide. Tablet prices are on the product pages.

How ordering works

How ordering works at EverydayMeds

Three steps, with our pharmacy team alongside you.

  1. EverydayMeds online consultation on a mobile phone

    Step 1: Online consultation — 5–10 minutes

Complete a confidential health questionnaire covering BMI, medical history and current medication. No payment is taken until you're approved.

  2. A clinician ready to review an online consultation

Step 2: Prescriber review — usually same day

A UK registered prescriber checks your suitability against the licensed criteria (BMI ≥30, or ≥27 with a weight-related condition) and contraindications, and confirms your starting dose.

  3. An EverydayMeds delivery box

    Step 3: Next-day tracked delivery

Dispensed by our GPhC-registered pharmacy in temperature-controlled packaging with needles and a sharps bin included. Orders approved by 3pm for next-day tracked delivery.

Your questions, answered

Mounjaro price UK — frequently asked questions

Answers to common questions about Mounjaro prices, NHS access and ongoing treatment.

Ask our pharmacy team
Is Mounjaro a GLP-1 agonist?
Yes. Mounjaro (tirzepatide) activates the GLP-1 receptor and the GIP receptor together. That dual action distinguishes it from single-action GLP-1 medicines such as semaglutide (Wegovy and Ozempic). It is licensed in the UK for weight management in adults and for type 2 diabetes, and it is prescription-only.
Are GLP-1 receptor agonists peptides?
Orforglipron (Foundayo) is a small-molecule GLP-1 receptor agonist taken as a tablet. For the chemical makeup of any other medicine, check its patient information leaflet or ask your prescriber.
Who should avoid GLP-1 medicines?
You should not take Mounjaro if you are allergic to tirzepatide or any of its ingredients, and it should not be used during pregnancy or while trying to conceive. Your prescriber will take extra care, or may recommend against treatment, if you have a history of pancreatitis, severe gut or digestive disease, diabetic retinopathy, or gallbladder problems. Tell them about everything you take, especially warfarin, insulin or sulfonylureas, and never combine GLP-1 medicines. Unsuitable orders at EverydayMeds are refunded automatically after review by a GPhC-registered prescriber. Mounjaro must not be used during pregnancy, and it should be stopped at least one month before trying to conceive. If you become pregnant during treatment, stop the medicine and tell your prescriber promptly.
What is known as the 'poor man's Ozempic'?
The nickname is applied to berberine and similar supplements, which are low-cost with no clinical oversight. They are not GLP-1 medicines and are not licensed for weight management. Dosing is not standardised, and they should not be treated as equivalent to licensed treatment.
What is a cheaper alternative to Ozempic?
Ozempic is semaglutide licensed for type 2 diabetes; it is not a UK weight-loss medicine, and prescribing it privately for weight loss is off-label. The licensed weight-management options are Mounjaro (tirzepatide) and Wegovy (semaglutide 2.4mg), and supplements are not equivalents. A prescriber decides which suits you.
Is there a drug better than Ozempic?
Tirzepatide and semaglutide have been compared directly in the SURMOUNT-5 trial.15 Both are effective, licensed treatments; which suits you depends on your health profile, tolerance and prescriber advice, not the headline number alone.
What is the most successful weight loss pill?
Two GLP-1 tablets are on the list: Wegovy tablets and Foundayo. Each has its own trial, OASIS 4 and ATTAIN-1, and these are not head-to-head comparisons.2223 Results vary, so a prescriber should help you choose.
