Thrive GLP-1: Supplement vs Prescription GLP-1 (October 2026)

Thrive myGLP is a dietary supplement, not a GLP-1 medicine, and it does not contain tirzepatide or semaglutide. Prescription GLP-1 treatments are licensed medicines supplied after a prescriber's review. Some clinics called Thrive offer those separately. A supplement has not been through the same licensing process, so do not expect the same results.

A quick overview

What to know
before you start.

  • Thrive myGLP is a branded dietary supplement; it is not the same thing as a prescription GLP-1 medicine.
  • Clinics using the Thrive name may prescribe real GLP-1 medicines, so always check which product is actually being offered.
  • Licensed GLP-1 results come from named trials such as SURMOUNT-1, run on medicines, not supplements.
  • Any real GLP-1 medicine should involve a consultation with a GPhC-registered prescriber.
  • If you want a licensed option, Mounjaro starts at £169.99 for the 2.5mg pen, with a first-order discount for new customers.

01 · The core answer

Is Thrive GLP-1 the same as a GLP-1 medicine?

No. Thrive myGLP is a consumer supplement sold by a wellness brand. Mounjaro and Wegovy are prescription-only medicines with defined doses and published trial results. The word GLP-1 in a supplement name describes a marketing theme, not the active ingredient of a licensed treatment.

02 · Your decision

What should you do next?

Decide what you actually want. If you want a gentle wellness product, a supplement is a personal choice, but treat dramatic weight-loss claims with caution. If you want a medicine with evidence behind it, speak to a prescriber about a licensed option.

If you are already eligible and want to explore treatment, our weight loss clinic explains the process. You can also see the Mounjaro pen, prices and consultation: the 2.5mg starting pen is £169.99 at standard price, and a new customer's first 2.5mg pen costs £129.99 with code FIRST40. Prices checked 11 October 2026.

03 · What real GLP-1 medicines do

What real GLP-1 medicines do

GLP-1 is a natural gut hormone, and prescription medicines are designed to act on its receptor. Tirzepatide, the active ingredient in Mounjaro, goes further: it is the first treatment of its kind to activate two natural gut-hormone receptors at once: GIP and GLP-1. Together these help regulate appetite, slow how quickly the stomach empties, and improve the way the body responds to insulin.1

In practice, most people feel fuller sooner and less hungry between meals, which supports a reduced-calorie diet.1 For a deeper look at the biology, see our guide to GLP-1 physiology, and for how the medicines are made, recombinant GLP-1.

04 · Does Thrive make you lose weight?

Does Thrive make you lose weight?

Supplements are not assessed as weight-loss medicines, so results cannot be predicted from marketing.

For licensed medicines the picture is documented. In the SURMOUNT-1 trial of 2,539 adults, people taking tirzepatide alongside diet and exercise lost on average 15% of their body weight on 5mg, 19.5% on 10mg and 20.9% on 15mg over 72 weeks, compared with 3.1% with lifestyle changes alone.2 These are trial averages, individual results vary, and treatment works alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity, not instead of them.2

That result applies to tirzepatide only. It says nothing about any supplement, and the two should never be set side by side as equivalents.

05 · Safety and who should avoid it

Is Thrive GLP-1 safe, and who should avoid real GLP-1 medicines?

Mounjaro is not suitable for everyone. You should not take it if you are allergic to tirzepatide or any of its ingredients, and it should not be used during pregnancy or while trying to conceive. Mounjaro must not be used during pregnancy, and it should be stopped at least one month before trying to conceive. If you become pregnant during treatment, stop the medicine and tell your prescriber promptly. Your prescriber will take extra care, or may recommend against treatment, if you have a history of pancreatitis, severe gut or digestive disease, diabetic retinopathy, or gallbladder problems.113

Serious side effects are uncommon but need urgent attention. Get medical help straight away for severe, persistent stomach pain that may spread to your back, with or without vomiting (possible pancreatitis); for pain in the upper right abdomen, fever or yellowing of the skin or eyes (possible gallbladder problems); or for signs of a severe allergic reaction such as swelling of the face or throat and difficulty breathing.13 If you have side effects from any product, you can report them through the Yellow Card scheme.19

06 · Other products using the name

Other products using the GLP-1 name

Thrive is not alone. Some are holistic wellness plans, such as the ideas covered in our look at holistic GLP-1 approaches. Others are devices or apps, as in GLP-1 technology.

The test is always the same: is the active ingredient a licensed medicine, and does a prescriber review you first? Be aware that not every product with a similar name is a GLP-1 at all. Our explainer on whether Semglee is a GLP-1 shows how easily names mislead, and the guide to GLP-1 agonists sets out what the term properly covers.

Be cautious of any seller offering to supply a prescription medicine without a consultation or prescription. Genuine supply comes from a registered pharmacy; you can check ours on the GPhC register (9012878).

07 · NHS access to GLP-1 treatment

NHS access to GLP-1 treatment

Mounjaro is available on the NHS, but access is being phased in over several years. NICE recommends it for adults with a BMI of at least 35 plus at least one weight-related condition, and the NHS primary-care rollout began in June 2025 with the highest-need groups first (initially BMI 40+ with four or more qualifying conditions).46

Full rollout is expected to take years, which is why many people who meet the licensed criteria choose regulated private treatment rather than waiting.6 Wegovy access on the NHS runs through specialist weight-management services; ask your GP. If you prefer to look at that medicine privately, see the Wegovy pen.

08 · How a licensed route works

How a licensed route works with us

Our process starts with a free online consultation: a short health questionnaire, no charge and no obligation. A GPhC-registered prescriber reviews it, not a scoring script. Payment is taken when you place the order; if the prescriber decides the treatment is not suitable, the order is refunded automatically in full.

Approved orders are dispensed by our registered pharmacy, with same-day dispatch when ordered by 3pm and free next-day tracked delivery in temperature-controlled packaging. Ongoing monthly reviews are included, and the free GLPTrackr app helps you follow your progress. All six doses are in stock.

New customers save £40 on their first order with code FIRST40, and an automatic £25 reorder discount applies to every future order (code DOSE25).

How ordering works

How ordering works at EverydayMeds

Three steps, with our pharmacy team alongside you.

  1. EverydayMeds online consultation on a mobile phone

    Step 1: Online consultation — 5–10 minutes

Complete a confidential health questionnaire covering BMI, medical history and current medication. No payment is taken until you're approved.

  2. A clinician ready to review an online consultation

Step 2: Prescriber review — usually same day

A UK registered prescriber checks your suitability against the licensed criteria (BMI ≥30, or ≥27 with a weight-related condition) and contraindications, and confirms your starting dose.

  3. An EverydayMeds delivery box

    Step 3: Next-day tracked delivery

Dispensed by our GPhC-registered pharmacy in temperature-controlled packaging with needles and a sharps bin included. Orders approved by 3pm for next-day tracked delivery.

Start your free consultation

Prescription and dispatch follow clinical approval. Confirm current delivery options when ordering.

Afterwards you're not on your own: dose-change reviews are built in before each step up, our pharmacist team is available for side-effect questions, and repeat orders re-check suitability rather than auto-shipping.

Your questions, answered

Mounjaro price UK — frequently asked questions

Answers to common questions about Mounjaro prices, NHS access and ongoing treatment.

Ask our pharmacy team
Does Thrive GLP make you lose weight?
Thrive is a supplement without the trial evidence that licensed GLP-1 medicines have, so no result can be promised. Prescription tirzepatide has published trial data, with averages that do not predict your own result. Any treatment works alongside a reduced-calorie diet and more physical activity.
Do GLP-1 supplements really work?
Supplements marketed as GLP-1 products are not licensed medicines and do not contain tirzepatide or semaglutide. Dramatic weight-loss claims should be treated with caution, and dosing is not standardised. Licensed GLP-1 medicines have defined doses and trial results, which supplements lack. A prescriber can discuss what suits you.
Is GLP-1 the same as Mounjaro?
Not exactly. GLP-1 is a natural gut hormone, and some medicines act on its receptor. Mounjaro contains tirzepatide, which activates both GIP and GLP-1 receptors. That dual action distinguishes it from single-action GLP-1 medicines such as semaglutide, the active ingredient in Wegovy.
How much does Thrive GLP cost?
The supplement is a low-cost product without clinical oversight. For comparison, a licensed Mounjaro 2.5mg starting pen costs £169.99 at standard price, and a new customer's first pen is £129.99 with code FIRST40.
Does Thrive really work?
A supplement has not been through the licensing trials that prescription GLP-1 medicines have, so there are no comparable published results to point to. If you want a treatment with documented evidence, speak to a prescriber about a licensed option.
What do doctors say about Thrive?
Our position as a GPhC-registered pharmacy is that a supplement is not a substitute for a licensed medicine, and that anyone considering weight-loss treatment should have their health history reviewed by a prescriber first.
Is Thrive GLP-1 safe?
Unlike a prescription medicine, a supplement involves no prescriber screening. If you take any product and notice side effects, speak to a healthcare professional and report them through the Yellow Card scheme. Get medical help straight away for severe, persistent stomach pain, pain in the upper right abdomen with fever or yellowing of the skin or eyes, or swelling of the face or throat with difficulty breathing.
What is the Thrive method for weight loss?
Thrive is a branded wellness and supplement programme, and clinics with the same name may offer separate medical weight-loss services. Check whether the product is a supplement or a prescribed medicine, and who is reviewing your suitability.
