What a year of Mounjaro costs

A first year of treatment (52 weeks, 13 pens) costs £2,399.88 if you settle at 5mg, and up to £3,279.88 if you settle at 15mg, at standard prices before discounts. If you step up after 4 weeks on each dose, your first four pens (2.5mg to 10mg) cost £879.96 at standard prices. A new customer's first order is £40 less, and every later order is £25 less.

05 · Why cheap can be risky

Why the cheapest price is not always the safest

A price far below the rest of the market is a warning sign, not a bargain. The MHRA has seized thousands of fake weight-loss pens in the UK and has issued alerts after falsified Mounjaro pens were identified.⁷ Fake pens have caused hospitalisations, and some contained insulin rather than tirzepatide.⁷

Only buy from a pharmacy you can verify on the GPhC register, never from social media, beauty salons or unverified websites. Genuine treatment always involves a prescription and a clinical consultation.⁷ Any seller offering to supply without a consultation or prescription is not a legitimate pharmacy, however low the price. 06 · Checking your pen

How to check a pen is genuine and still good

A genuine UK Mounjaro pen comes from a registered pharmacy with a batch number and expiry date, and arrives cold-chain packaged. The solution inside should be clear and colourless.¹³

Do not use a pen that has been frozen, looks cloudy or discoloured, has particles in it, is past its expiry, has been above 30°C, or has been out of the fridge for more than 30 days in use. If supply or packaging ever seems wrong, check the pharmacy on the GPhC register and contact the pharmacy before injecting.¹²

07 · Why prices differ

Why Mounjaro prices differ between pharmacies

Mounjaro prices differ because Eli Lilly raised the UK list price of Mounjaro from 1 September 2025, and pharmacies buy and price stock differently.¹⁰ Sell prices vary because of confidential discounts, so two pharmacies selling the same pen can charge different amounts.¹⁰

That is why a dated comparison is more useful than a remembered figure. Our index is checked on 25 October 2026, and our prices were checked 25 October 2026. Prices can change, so confirm the figure on the product page before you order.

It also explains why a single provider can look cheapest at one dose and dearer at another. If you already know you will move up to a higher strength, compare that dose, not just the starter pen.

08 · Value and eligibility

Eligibility and what you get for the money

Mounjaro is licensed for weight management in adults with a BMI of 30 or above, or a BMI between 27 and 30 with at least one weight-related condition. Such conditions include high blood pressure, high cholesterol, obstructive sleep apnoea, cardiovascular disease, prediabetes or type 2 diabetes.¹ It must be used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity. A prescriber will assess your BMI, medical history and current medicines before deciding whether it is suitable.¹¹

In the SURMOUNT-1 trial of 2,539 adults, people taking tirzepatide alongside diet and exercise lost on average 15% of their body weight on 5mg, 19.5% on 10mg and 20.9% on 15mg over 72 weeks, compared with 3.1% with lifestyle changes alone.² These are trial averages, and individual results vary. For someone starting at 100 kg, 20.9% is about 21 kg.²

Because trial averages do not predict your own result, a lower price is only good value if the treatment is suitable for you and supervised. That is why monthly reviews, dose-titration and side-effect support matter alongside the pen price. Ours are included, delivered by the prescribing team.

09 · NHS or private

NHS or private: what the picture looks like

Mounjaro is available on the NHS, but access is being phased in over several years. NICE recommends it for adults with a BMI of at least 35 plus at least one weight-related condition. The NHS primary-care rollout began in June 2025 with the highest-need groups first, initially BMI 40+ with four or more qualifying conditions.⁴⁶ Full rollout is expected to take years, which is why many people who meet the licensed criteria choose regulated private treatment rather than waiting.

Your GP or the NHS guidance is the place to ask about NHS access.

Mounjaro is also licensed for type 2 diabetes.¹ Whether you can get it on the NHS depends on your own circumstances and local pathways, so ask your diabetes team or GP. If you take insulin or sulfonylureas, doses may need adjusting because of the risk of low blood sugar, so tell your prescriber.

11 · Cheaper alternatives?

Cheaper alternatives to Mounjaro and Ozempic

The honest answer is that low-cost products exist, but none matches a licensed, prescriber-supervised medicine. Ozempic is semaglutide licensed for type 2 diabetes — it is not a UK weight-loss medicine, and a regulated UK pharmacy will not supply it for weight loss. Wegovy (semaglutide) is the licensed weekly alternative, with a dose ladder of 0.25mg, 0.5mg, 1mg, 1.7mg and 2.4mg, stepping up after at least four weeks to reach the 2.4mg maintenance dose from week 17.¹⁸ Your first Wegovy pen is £99.99 as a first-order price.

Wegovy tablets and Foundayo are oral GLP-1 options with their own product information.²⁰²¹ Liraglutide (Saxenda, and products such as Erly) is a daily injection, unlike once-weekly Mounjaro and Wegovy.

The "poor man's Ozempic" is a nickname for berberine, and "nature's Ozempic" is marketing for similar supplements. These are low-cost supplements with no clinical oversight, and dosing is not standardised. They are not medicines, are not regulated for this use and have no comparable trial evidence. Dramatic weight-loss claims on such products should be treated with caution.

You cannot "mimic Ozempic naturally". What does sit alongside any treatment is a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity, which are part of the licence for these medicines. Which option suits you depends on your health and is a prescriber's decision.
