A quick overview

What to know
before you start.

  • Your injector decides whether lip filler is suitable for you. Disclose the medicine, your dose and your injection day.
  • Weight loss on Mounjaro can change how your face looks, so results from filler may look different over time. Trial averages do not predict your own result.
  • If your lips, face, tongue or throat swell quickly, or you have trouble breathing, get medical help straight away and say that you take Mounjaro.
  • Consider timing: avoid booking filler in the middle of a rapid dose increase if you can, and ask the clinic about its own aftercare rules.
  • Filler costs vary by clinic and amount, so ask for a written quote. Mounjaro costs are separate and shown live on our product page.
In this guide

01 · The short answer

Can you get lip filler while on Mounjaro?

Yes, you can usually book lip filler while on Mounjaro, but the final decision belongs to the person injecting you. Mounjaro is the brand name for tirzepatide, a once-weekly prescription injection licensed in the UK for weight management and type 2 diabetes.1

A reputable injector will take a medical history before treating you. Mounjaro belongs on that history, along with any other medicines, allergies and recent illness. If you are starting Mounjaro soon, mention that too, because your face may change over the following months.

02 · Before you book

What to tell your injector and what to ask

Give your injector the full picture before any needle goes near your lips.

Tell themWhy it mattersAsk them
You take Mounjaro (tirzepatide) and your current doseIt forms part of your medicines history, which the practitioner needs to judge suitabilityAre you happy to treat me on this medicine?
Your injection day and how long you have been on treatmentHelps them judge timing and interpret any later swellingIs there a better time in my weekly cycle?
Recent or planned weight lossYour face may change shape as weight comes offShould I wait, or start with a smaller amount?
Any allergies and other medicinesPart of a normal consultationWhat is your plan if I have a reaction?
Any current illness or if you feel unwell on the dayYou should be well enough to be treated and to healCan I rearrange without penalty if I am unwell?

Also ask about the practitioner's qualifications and how to reach them after treatment. You want a named person to contact if something looks wrong, not just a booking line.

03 · If you are not on it yet

Not on Mounjaro yet?

If you are considering treatment, Mounjaro is a prescription-only medicine. We supply it only after a free online consultation reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber. The Mounjaro pen starts at the 2.5mg dose, which costs £169.99 at the standard price. A new customer's first 2.5mg pen costs £129.99 with code FIRST40, and every later order is £25 off the standard price (code DOSE25). All six doses are in stock. You can start your free consultation whenever you are ready, and you can read our full guide to how to buy Mounjaro in the UK.

04 · Weight loss and your face

Does weight loss affect lip fillers?

Weight change can alter how your face looks, so it is a fair question to raise with your injector.

In the SURMOUNT-1 trial of 2,539 adults, people taking tirzepatide alongside diet and exercise lost on average 15% of their body weight on 5mg, 19.5% on 10mg and 20.9% on 15mg over 72 weeks, compared with 3.1% with lifestyle changes alone. Individual results vary.2 For someone starting at 100 kg, 20.9% is about 21 kg. Those are trial averages, and they do not predict your own result.

For your face, the practical point is simple. If you expect to lose a meaningful amount of weight over several months, the shape of your cheeks, jawline and lips may change gradually. An injector who knows your plan can treat conservatively and review you as you go, rather than treating to a face you may not have in six months.

Some people choose to wait until their weight has settled before having any filler. Others have a small treatment now and top up later. Neither is right for everyone. Ask for the injector's honest view and be wary of anyone who promises a particular outcome.

05 · Lip swelling and side effects

Can Mounjaro cause lip swelling?

The UK Mounjaro patient leaflet lists rapid swelling of the lips, tongue or throat as a sign of a severe allergic reaction, which is rare: if this happens, get medical help straight away. Swelling after filler is also expected for a short time, which makes it easy to confuse the two. That is exactly why your injector needs to know you take Mounjaro.

If you notice any new symptom while on treatment, tell your prescriber. You can also report suspected side effects through the MHRA Yellow Card scheme.19

Some swelling needs fast attention whatever the cause. If your lips, face, tongue or throat swell quickly, or you have difficulty breathing, get medical help straight away and say that you take Mounjaro. These can be signs of a severe allergic reaction. Severe, persistent stomach pain that may spread to your back, with or without vomiting (possible pancreatitis), or pain in the upper right abdomen, fever or yellowing of the skin or eyes (possible gallbladder problems), also needs immediate medical help. Do not wait for your next appointment.

For swelling that is mild and expected after treatment, follow your injector's aftercare instructions and contact them if it worsens or does not settle as they described. Keep a note of when you injected Mounjaro and when you had the filler, so any clinician can see the timeline.

06 · Timing your treatments

How to time filler around Mounjaro

Timing your filler appointment is a matter of practicality. Mounjaro is a once-weekly injection, taken on the same day each week. Choose an appointment day when you are likely to feel at your best and can rest afterwards.

Here are some sensible things to consider:

  • Dose changes. Mounjaro comes in six strengths, from 2.5mg to 15mg.1 If you are moving up a dose, you may want to avoid booking filler in the same week, so any new symptoms are easier to read.
  • How you feel on the day. If you are unwell, reschedule. Most clinics would prefer that to treating you when you are not at your best.
  • Big events. Leave a buffer before weddings, holidays or photos in case of swelling or bruising.
  • Other treatments. If you also want anti-wrinkle injections, see our page on whether you can get Botox while on Mounjaro. Vaccines raise a similar timing question, covered in our guide to a flu shot while on Mounjaro.

Tirzepatide has a half-life of about five days, so after a final dose it takes roughly 4–5 weeks to clear the system.1 If you are stopping treatment, mention that to your injector as well, as your weight and appetite may change afterwards.

Mounjaro works alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity. Treatments for your lips do not replace or change that plan.2

07 · Lip filler questions answered

Common lip filler questions, honestly answered

Several related questions are about lip filler itself rather than Mounjaro. We are a pharmacy, not an aesthetics clinic, so your injector is the right person for these questions.

Cost. The price of filler depends on the clinic, the practitioner and the amount used. Ask for a written quote that states the product, the volume and any follow-up appointments.

Downsides. Every injectable treatment carries risks, including swelling, bruising and a reaction to the product. Your injector should explain these, and how they handle complications, before you consent. If they do not, find someone else.

Age and popularity. That is a personal choice, not a medical threshold, and a qualified practitioner can discuss what is appropriate for you.

Ageing, sagging and the worst days. How lips look over time, and which days after treatment are the most swollen, depend on the product, the amount, your anatomy and your aftercare. Your injector is the right person to give you a realistic timeline for your own treatment.

If anything about the treatment or your recovery worries you, contact the clinic that treated you first. If you have concerns about how Mounjaro fits with other medicines or procedures, our prescribing team can advise. Our support line is open Monday–Friday 9am–5pm on 0333 207 0413.

How ordering Mounjaro works with us

If you are thinking about starting Mounjaro alongside any cosmetic plans, the process is straightforward and the consultation is free.

  • Free online consultation. A short health questionnaire, with no charge and no obligation. Mention any planned cosmetic treatments in your notes.
  • Prescriber review. A GPhC-registered prescriber reviews your answers. Payment is taken when you place the order; if the prescriber decides the treatment is not suitable, the order is refunded automatically in full.
  • Dispensing and delivery. Our registered pharmacy dispenses your order, with same-day dispatch when ordered by 3pm. Delivery is free, next-day and tracked, in discreet temperature-controlled packaging.

Our supply comes through official LillyDirect, direct from Eli Lilly's UK distribution, so the pens are genuine KwikPens. Ongoing monthly reviews are included, and repeat orders re-check suitability, with no auto-shipping. The consultation is free and the price shown is the price paid. Our weight loss treatments page shows the full range, and our guide on what to do if you can't get Mounjaro covers supply problems.

Mounjaro is licensed for weight management in adults with a BMI of 30 or above, or a BMI between 27 and 30 with at least one weight-related condition.1 It is also available on the NHS, though access is being phased in over several years.5 More on everyday questions is in our while on Mounjaro hub.

Mounjaro (tirzepatide) is a prescription-only medicine, supplied only after an online consultation reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber. Individual results vary. This page is information, not a substitute for medical advice.
