A quick overview

What to know
before you start.

  • Always tell your aesthetic practitioner you take Mounjaro, and tell your prescriber about any planned treatment.
  • Ask whether your weight is still changing, because that may affect what is suggested and when.
  • Tirzepatide takes roughly 4–5 weeks to clear after a final dose, but nothing needs to be done while it clears.
  • Report any new symptom to your prescriber and through the Yellow Card scheme.
In this guide

01 · The short answer

Can you have filler while taking Mounjaro?

You may be able to, but your prescriber and your aesthetic practitioner need to decide that together with you.

What you can do is make the decision a joint one. Your Mounjaro prescriber knows your medical history and current medicines. Your aesthetic practitioner knows the procedure and the product. Neither can advise well without the other's information, so make sure each knows about the other.

02 · Before you book

What to ask before booking filler on Mounjaro

Go into the consultation with specific questions rather than a general worry. Here is who to ask and what each person is best placed to answer.

QuestionWho to askWhy it matters
Is anything in my health history a concern for an injectable cosmetic treatment?Aesthetic practitioner, with your prescriber informedPractitioners take a medical history; your medicines are part of it
Is my weight still changing?BothYour dose, and how long you have been on treatment, shape how much change is still to come
Should I wait until I reach my maintenance dose?Prescriber and practitionerTreatment is stepped up gradually, so your weight may not have settled
Do I need to tell you about other medicines?PractitionerA full medicines list helps them judge suitability
What is your qualification and registration?PractitionerCosmetic injectables should be given by appropriately trained, regulated professionals
What should I watch for afterwards, and who do I call?Practitioner, then prescriberYou should know the follow-up route before treatment, not after

Write your answers down. If the practitioner is not curious about your medicines, that is a reason to look elsewhere.

03 · Timing

When is the right time for filler on Mounjaro?

There is no approved timing rule, so the right time is the one your prescriber and practitioner agree on. Nobody should present a number of weeks or a dose threshold as fact.

Mounjaro is a once-weekly pen in six strengths, from 2.5mg to 15mg, and the dose is adjusted over time.1 Because the dose and your weight can both change during that period, many people ask their practitioner whether it makes sense to review their face once things have settled. That is a question for them.

If you are considering lip filler on Mounjaro specifically, the same approach applies: disclose, ask, and decide together. Our guide on lip filler and Mounjaro covers that treatment in more detail.

Related guides: Can t get mounjaro and Can you get withdrawals from mounjaro.

So when you read a clinic page that says filler is "perfectly safe" on Mounjaro, or one that says it is "not recommended", check what it cites. If it cites a trial, a regulator or a label, look at the source. If it cites nothing, treat it as the clinic's opinion or marketing.

For any new symptom after any treatment, the advice is the same. Discuss it with your prescriber and report it through the Yellow Card scheme.19 Serious side effects of Mounjaro are uncommon but need urgent attention. Seek immediate medical help for severe, persistent stomach pain that may spread to your back, with or without vomiting (possible pancreatitis); pain in the upper right abdomen, fever or yellowing of skin or eyes (possible gallbladder problems); or signs of a severe allergic reaction such as swelling of the face or throat and difficulty breathing. We would rather you report something that turns out to be unrelated than stay silent.

04 · Weight change and appearance

Weight change and why it matters for cosmetic decisions

Mounjaro is licensed for weight management, and weight change is the point of treatment. In the SURMOUNT-1 trial of 2,539 adults, people taking tirzepatide alongside diet and exercise lost on average 15% of their body weight on 5mg, 19.5% on 10mg and 20.9% on 15mg over 72 weeks, compared with 3.1% with lifestyle changes alone.2

As a worked example, for someone starting at 100 kg, 20.9% is about 21 kg. These are trial averages, and individual results vary. Treatment works alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity, not instead of them.2

Why does this matter for filler? Because a cosmetic plan made at the start of treatment may look different once your weight has changed. A practitioner who knows you are on Mounjaro can factor that in. One who does not know cannot.

Your weight is a moving part, and it is reasonable to ask whether to plan around it. Your own result may be smaller or larger than the trial averages.

If you are weighing up the treatment itself, our weight loss treatments overview sets out the options we offer.

05 · After stopping Mounjaro

How long does Mounjaro stay in your system?

Tirzepatide has a half-life of about five days, so after a final dose it takes roughly 4–5 weeks to clear the system. There is no way to speed this up, and nothing needs doing while it clears.2

Some people wonder whether they should stop Mounjaro before a cosmetic appointment. We do not recommend stopping or skipping doses on your own initiative. If a practitioner suggests it, speak to your prescriber first so that the decision is made with full information. Stopping a medicine you are taking for a health reason because of a cosmetic appointment is a decision that deserves a clinician's input.

It is also worth being clear about what the clearance figure is. It describes how long the medicine takes to leave the body. It is not a recommended waiting period for filler, and nobody should present it as one.

06 · Choosing a practitioner

How to choose an aesthetic practitioner

Pick a practitioner who asks about your medicines before they discuss product. That single behaviour tells you a lot about how they work.

Look for the following before you commit:

  • A proper consultation that records your medical history and current medicines, including Mounjaro.
  • A named, qualified and regulated professional who will actually carry out the treatment.
  • Clear information on risks, aftercare and what to do if something goes wrong.
  • No pressure to book on the day, and no promise of specific results.
  • A willingness to liaise with your prescriber if you ask them to.

Be cautious of any clinic that markets itself as a "Mounjaro face" specialist while quoting results without sources.

You can also tell your Mounjaro prescriber about planned treatments. Our team offers ongoing monthly reviews, so it is a natural thing to raise at your next review.

07 · Supply and safety

Where your Mounjaro comes from

If you take Mounjaro, make sure it is a genuine, prescribed pen. The MHRA publishes counterfeit medicine alerts, and Mounjaro is a prescription-only medicine that should only be supplied after a consultation reviewed by a prescriber.7 Be wary of anyone offering to supply without a consultation or prescription.

We supply Mounjaro through official LillyDirect supply, sourced directly from Eli Lilly's UK distribution, as genuine KwikPens. You can check our registration (9012878) on the GPhC register.

This matters for cosmetic planning too. If you are unsure what you are injecting, no practitioner can advise you properly about anything else.

08 · Getting started

  • A GPhC-registered prescriber reviews it. Payment is taken when you place the order; if the prescriber decides the treatment is not suitable, the order is refunded automatically in full.

Your questions, answered

Mounjaro price UK — frequently asked questions

Answers to common questions about Mounjaro prices, NHS access and ongoing treatment.

Ask our pharmacy team
Can you get filler on Mounjaro?
Tell your aesthetic practitioner you take Mounjaro, tell your prescriber about the plan, and decide together once you have both views.
Should I tell my aesthetic practitioner I am on Mounjaro?
Yes. Give them your full medicines list, including Mounjaro (tirzepatide), and say how long you have been taking it and whether your dose is still changing. A practitioner can only judge suitability from the information you give them, and a good one will ask.
Can you get lip filler on Mounjaro?
The same approach applies as for any filler. Disclose your treatment, ask both your prescriber and practitioner, and read our guide on getting lip filler on Mounjaro for more detail.
Should I stop Mounjaro before filler?
We do not advise stopping or skipping doses on your own. Tirzepatide takes roughly 4–5 weeks to clear after a final dose, and nothing needs doing while it clears.2 If a practitioner suggests pausing, speak to your prescriber first so the decision is made with full information.
Does Mounjaro cause facial changes that filler can fix?
Weight loss is the documented result of treatment: in SURMOUNT-1, average loss was 20.9% of body weight at 15mg over 72 weeks, and individual results vary.2 What that means for your face is a question for your practitioner.
What should I do if I have a problem after filler?
Contact the practitioner who treated you first, since they know what was used. Tell your Mounjaro prescriber about any new symptom too, and report it through the MHRA Yellow Card scheme.19 For anything urgent or severe, such as swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat, difficulty breathing or severe pain, get medical help straight away rather than waiting for an appointment.
Can I get Mounjaro if I have had cosmetic treatments before?
Past cosmetic treatments do not by themselves decide eligibility. A prescriber assesses your BMI, medical history and current medicines. Mounjaro is licensed for adults with a BMI of 30 or above, or 27 to 30 with a weight-related condition.1 Our free consultation covers this.
