Foundayo Price: What Could Affect the Cost?
- GPhC registered UK pharmacy and weight loss clinic, registration number 9012878
- Transparent pricing with no hidden fees and clinical support included
- Online consultation with UK registered prescribers for weight management
- Independent prescriber review and clinical assessment before any supply
The price you pay for Foundayo in the UK can depend on several factors, including the dose prescribed, the pharmacy or weight-management service you use, what is included in the price and whether delivery or follow-up consultations are charged separately.
Foundayo (orforglipron) is a prescription-only, once-daily oral GLP-1 receptor agonist authorised in the UK for weight management and for adults with insufficiently controlled type 2 diabetes. For weight management, it is used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity. Because treatment usually begins at a lower dose and may be increased gradually, the price of the first pack may not be the price you pay at later stages.
This guide explains what can make Foundayo pricing difficult to compare, what a pharmacy price should tell you, and how to look beyond a headline monthly figure.
What decides the Foundayo price in the UK?
Three things decide the Foundayo price: your treatment stage, your provider, and the dosage strength on your prescription, since Foundayo prices in the UK vary based on dosage strength and provider. Everything else, delivery, pack size and payment plans, sits inside those three.
This guide helps you compare foundayo dose price differences across strengths and providers, including how a foundayo dosing schedule or wider dosing schedule can affect what you pay as your foundayo dose changes. Some pharmacies also explain foundayo tablets by strength as part of that comparison.
| Driver | What it means | Effect on what you pay |
|---|---|---|
| Dose and Stage of treatment | Treatment starts at 0.8mg and can be increased gradually | Different strengths may have different prices |
| What is included | Consultation, prescribing, follow-up, delivery and support | Two headline prices may cover different services |
| Supply management | Single pack, subscription or longer supply | The total cost can differ depending on how treatment is supplied |
| Provider | Different pharmacies and weight-management services set their own private prices | The same strength may cost different amounts |
Key things to know
- Foundayo is prescription only and supplied privately in the UK after an assessment by a registered prescriber. It is for adults with obesity or overweight, and the price includes the medicine and some or all of the weight loss service around it.
- Treatment starts at a low strength and is increased in steps set by the prescriber, so the first month's price is not the monthly price.
- There is no generic orforglipron. Foundayo is the only licensed orforglipron product, and any tablet sold as generic orforglipron is not a UK licensed medicine.
- A pharmacy's price page should tell you the strength, the number of tablets, what is included and the cancellation terms. If it does not, ask before ordering.
- If treatment is paused, stopped or restarted, the prescribing plan may need to change. The appropriate approach depends on why treatment was interrupted, how long the interruption lasted and the individual's clinical circumstances.
- A price far below every registered pharmacy is a warning sign. The MHRA has warned repeatedly about counterfeit GLP-1 products sold online.
- Treatment suitability depends on an individual clinical assessment, including your personal or family history, and the dose is decided by the prescriber, never by the price. In practice, eligibility is usually based on a BMI above 30, or above 27 with weight-related conditions such as high blood pressure, though private prescribers may use different criteria for Foundayo based on clinical assessment.
Is there a generic version of Foundayo orforglipron?
No UK-authorised generic version of orforglipron is currently available. Foundayo is the UK-authorised orforglipron product.
If a website describes a product simply as “generic orforglipron”, that does not mean it is an MHRA-authorised generic medicine. Before buying any prescription medicine online, check that the supplier is appropriately registered and that the medicine supplied is authorised for use in the UK.
How does the cost change through treatment?
For example, pharmacies may price the different strengths differently, so an introductory price should not automatically be treated as the long-term monthly cost.
| Stage | What happens | What you pay for | What to ask |
|---|---|---|---|
| Before treatment | A registered prescriber assesses eligibility and safety | The consultation, if the pharmacy charges for it separately | Is the assessment included in the medicine price? |
| Starting strength | A low dose for the first weeks | The starting strength pack | Is this the price shown on the page? |
| Step ups | The prescriber increases the strength in steps over months | Higher strength packs, and any dose review consultations | What does each strength cost, and are reviews included? |
| Holding strength | The strength that controls appetite and is tolerated | The same pack each month for as long as treatment continues | Is there a longer supply option, and can it be paused? |
| Pausing or stopping | Illness, travel, side effects or a decision to stop | Nothing, if the pharmacy allows pauses without charge | What are the pause and cancellation terms? |
Why is the first month's price not the monthly price?
Because the first month is the starting strength, which is often priced below the higher strengths, and it may or may not include the assessment, while the later holding strength is the maintenance dose for some patients.
Later packs may cost more if the prescribed dose increases. However, not everyone will progress through the dose schedule at the same pace, and increases depend on treatment response and tolerability.
A realistic monthly figure is the holding strength price plus any recurring charges, and a realistic year adds the assessment and the step up months to it, rather than judging cost from the first month alone against your starting body weight, since weight loss results vary by dosage and individual response.
What does pausing or stopping cost?
The financial cost of stopping treatment depends on the pharmacy's cancellation or subscription terms. The clinical decision is separate.
Do not pause, stop or restart Foundayo simply to change the price. If treatment is interrupted because of illness, side effects, a missed dose or another reason, speak to the prescriber or pharmacist about what to do next. The appropriate plan can depend on the reason for the interruption and how long treatment has been stopped.
If pancreatitis is suspected, the UK product information states that orforglipron should be discontinued and, if pancreatitis is confirmed, it should not be restarted.
How do you read a Foundayo price page?
If a page does not clearly state these details, its headline price may be difficult to compare with another provider's.
- The strength the price refers to, and the price of the other strengths.
- The number of tablets in the pack, so you can tell whether the figure is for a month.
- Whether the consultation is included, and whether dose review consultations are.
- Delivery, included or charged, and how it is packaged.
- Cancellation and pause terms, particularly for subscriptions.
- The pharmacy's GPhC registration number, which you can check on the register.
What is a fair way to compare two pharmacies?
Build the same year at each and compare the totals.
| Line | Pharmacy A | Pharmacy B |
|---|---|---|
| Initial assessment | Included or charged | Included or charged |
| Starting strength month | Price of that strength | Price of that strength |
| Step up months | Price of each strength, plus any review charges | Price of each strength, plus any review charges |
| Holding strength months | Price of that strength multiplied by the months remaining | The same |
| Delivery | Per order, multiplied by the number of orders | The same |
| Subscription or administration fees | If any | If any |
| Year total | Sum of the lines | Sum of the lines |
A higher first-month price does not necessarily mean a higher overall cost if that price includes services that another provider charges separately. Compare the full treatment period on a like-for-like basis.
What are you paying for besides the weight loss treatment tablet?
You are paying for the medicine and, depending on the provider, some combination of prescribing, dispensing, delivery and clinical support. The tablet’s active ingredient is orforglipron.
Orforglipron mimics GLP-1, a gut hormone released after eating, and it can reduce hunger and cravings by acting on the brain, slow stomach emptying to increase fullness, and trigger insulin release to help steady blood sugar. Because orforglipron is a small-molecule, non-peptide GLP-1 receptor agonist, it can be taken once daily without food or water restrictions. It delays gastric emptying and reduces appetite and food intake.
| Component | What it involves | Why it is worth paying for |
|---|---|---|
| The assessment | Weight, BMI, health conditions, medicines, pregnancy, previous treatment | The GLP-1 class has serious, if uncommon, risks, and the licence sets eligibility criteria |
| The prescriber's decisions | The starting strength, each step, holds and reductions | Dose steps are clinical decisions. Getting them wrong causes side effects and wasted packs |
| Pharmacist support | Missed doses, side effects, other medicines, travel | Questions that arise between reviews and would otherwise go unanswered |
| A genuine product | The UK licensed pack with its patient information leaflet | Counterfeits may contain nothing, the wrong medicine or a harmful substance |
| Follow up | Reviews of weight, side effects and the diet and activity plan | The licence assumes diet and activity changes, and reviews keep treatment on track |
What does the evidence say the medicine delivers?
In ATTAIN-1, the highest trial dose produced a mean 12.4% reduction in body weight at week 72 under the efficacy estimand, compared with 0.9% with placebo. Around 60% of participants in that group achieved at least 10% weight loss. Individual results varied. The trial used capsule doses of 6 mg, 12 mg and 36 mg; the authorised UK tablet formulation uses different dose strengths.
Should you judge the price per month or per result?
A monthly price is useful for budgeting, but it does not show the full cost of treatment. A more meaningful comparison should consider the dose prescribed, how long treatment is expected to continue, consultation and follow-up charges, delivery costs and the clinical results reported in trials.
In ATTAIN-1, adverse events led to treatment discontinuation in 5.3%, 7.9% and 10.3% of participants receiving the three orforglipron doses, compared with 2.7% with placebo. Gastrointestinal adverse events were the most common and were generally mild to moderate.
Trial results can help explain what the medicine achieved in a study population, but they cannot predict exactly how much weight an individual will lose or how long they will remain on treatment.
Will the Foundayo price change in 2026?
Foundayo is currently UK-authorised but is not yet covered by a NICE technology appraisal recommendation for NHS use. NICE's appraisal of orforglipron for managing overweight and obesity (ID6516) is currently in development, with guidance listed for 18 November 2026. Because prices and treatment requirements can change, patients should check the current terms and discuss the expected treatment duration with their prescriber before committing to a longer supply.
Does buying several months at once reduce the cost?
Sometimes per month, but not always overall. A longer supply may have a lower effective monthly price with some providers, but the saving needs to be weighed against the possibility that treatment may need to change. During dose escalation, buying several months at one strength can be less practical because the prescribed dose may change.
Which Foundayo prices are not savings?
Some low prices are not for Foundayo at all, and they are the reason the MHRA keeps warning about GLP-1 products sold online.
- "Generic orforglipron". No such licensed product exists. It is either counterfeit or an unlicensed import.
- Foundayo is a prescription-only medicine and should be supplied only following an appropriate prescription and clinical assessment.
- Foreign packaging or loose tablets should be treated cautiously because they may not be the UK-authorised presentation and their provenance may be difficult to verify
- Prices far below every registered pharmacy. A counterfeit costs the seller almost nothing to make. Commentary from Eli Lilly and Company has suggested the medicine may launch below Mounjaro, but live pharmacy pricing still needs checking.
- Split or shared supplies. A higher strength bought to split, or a pack shared between two people, is unsafe and outside the licence.
- Skipping the assessment to avoid the fee. An appropriate clinical assessment helps identify whether the medicine is suitable and whether there are factors that require additional precautions or make treatment inappropriate.
- Misleading comparison pages. Some foundayo vs claims compare a tablet with weight loss injections, including weekly injections, and even foundayo vs wegovy headlines can mislead if they ignore differences in dosing and clinical support.
How do you check if a Foundayo seller is legitimate?
Every UK pharmacy, including online ones, must be on the GPhC register, which can be searched by name or registration number. A legitimate seller asks the questions a prescriber needs before supplying, including checks for severe liver impairment and other safety exclusions, names the prescriber, supplies the UK licensed pack with its leaflet, and offers follow up. If you have bought a product you now doubt, do not take it, and report it through the MHRA's Yellow Card scheme; if you develop symptoms that suggest pancreatitis, kidney problems, an allergic reaction, or a serious allergic reaction afterwards, seek urgent medical advice rather than taking more.Check both the pharmacy's GPhC registration and the MHRA's information about suspicious online medicine sellers.
What commonly goes wrong?
- Budgeting in the first month. Strengths change and reviews are added.
- Ignoring the cancellation terms of a subscription until you need to pause.
- Buying ahead before the strength is stable.
- Choosing by price and finding there is no one to ask when side effects arrive at a step up.
- Believing a generic exists.
- Asking for a particular dose simply because it is cheaper. Dose selection should be based on clinical response, tolerability and the prescribing information, not price
How can EveryDayMeds help?
EveryDayMeds provides Foundayo through its private weight-management service, subject to clinical assessment, prescribing suitability and stock availability. The service explains what is included in its current price, including any consultation or clinical support. Patients should check the live price and terms before ordering.
