A quick overview

What to know
before you start.

  • Eli Lilly raised the Mounjaro UK list price from 1 September 2025; pharmacy sell prices differ because of confidential discounts.
  • Compare the price of your exact dose: across the UK pharmacies we track, Mounjaro pens run from £143.96 to £339.00 per month.
  • Wegovy is a different licensed option; a first pen costs £99.99 as a first-order price, but switching needs a prescriber's review.
  • Only buy from a pharmacy you can verify on the GPhC register; fake pens have caused hospitalisations.
In this guide

01 · The facts

What has actually changed with Mounjaro prices?

Eli Lilly raised the UK list price of Mounjaro with effect from 1 September 2025.

The list price is what pharmacies are charged before confidential discounts, so what you pay varies by provider. Across the UK pharmacies we track (checked 12 October 2026), the cheapest and dearest Mounjaro pen across all doses run from £143.96 to £339.00 per month. For the 2.5mg starting pen the range is £143.96 to £179.99.

For the same dose, the gap between providers runs from £27 to £41. Boots' Mounjaro dose prices run from £179.00 to £339.00. That spread is why comparing your exact dose matters more than any headline figure.

02 · Next steps

What should you do now the price has risen?

Start by checking the price of your own dose, not the average. Our Mounjaro price now page and how much Mounjaro costs now page show the current picture, and the price comparison guide explains how we compare providers.

At EverydayMeds, the Mounjaro pen costs £169.99 at 2.5mg, £218.99 at 5mg, £279.99 at 7.5mg, £290.99 at 10mg, £319.99 at 12.5mg and £329.99 at 15mg per month. These are standard prices for one pen (4 weeks). A new customer gets £40 off their first order at any dose with code FIRST40, including people switching to us from another provider at a higher dose. Every future order gets an automatic £25 off (code DOSE25). Switching at 15mg? Your first order is £289.99.

If you are on a mid-range dose, our Mounjaro 7.5mg price page shows how that strength compares. The current offers and codes are on our Mounjaro discount code page and the wider discount code hub.

03 · Compare

Which options are open to you?

There are four legitimate routes, and each suits a different situation.

OptionSuits you ifWhat to know

Whichever route you pick, talk to your prescriber before changing anything. Our free consultation is reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber, who can look at your dose, history and goals together.

04 · Planning a year of cost

How much does a year of Mounjaro cost after the rise?

A first year costs £2,711.88 if you settle at 5mg, up to £3,599.88 at 15mg. That is 52 weeks, or 13 pens, at standard prices before discounts. A new customer's first order is £40 less, and every later order is £25 less.

If you step up after 4 weeks on each dose, your first four pens (2.5mg to 10mg) cost £959.96 at standard prices. For other maintenance doses, use that dose's monthly price: £279.99 at 7.5mg, £290.99 at 10mg or £319.99 at 12.5mg.

Costs also depend on which dose works for you. Our Mounjaro buy now guide sets out what ordering involves.

PeriodPensStandard cost
First year, settling at 5mg13£2,711.88
First year, settling at 15mg13£3,599.88

05 · Never stretch pens

Can you stretch pens or dose less often to save money?

No. Mounjaro is licensed as a once-weekly medicine, and its blood levels are designed around a 7-day cycle.

Use the pen as designed, then dispose of it.

Talk to your clinical team rather than self-adjusting.

06 · Switching to Wegovy

Is switching to Wegovy the answer?

Wegovy (semaglutide) is another licensed once-weekly option, and for some people it is a reasonable alternative. A first pen costs £99.99 as a first-order price. Check availability at the time of order, and see current prices on the weight loss treatments page.

Wegovy has its own dose ladder: pens are 0.25mg, 0.5mg, 1mg, 1.7mg and 2.4mg once weekly. It steps up after at least 4 weeks and reaches the 2.4mg maintenance dose from week 17, which is the licensed maintenance dose for weight management.18 Switching means starting that ladder under a prescriber's guidance, not swapping milligram for milligram.

The two medicines work differently. Tirzepatide activates two gut-hormone receptors, GIP and GLP-1, while semaglutide is a single-action GLP-1 medicine.1

Wegovy tablets and Foundayo are oral options with their own product information.

07 · Stopping Mounjaro

Can you keep weight off after stopping Mounjaro?

Stopping is a clinical decision, best planned with your prescriber rather than made suddenly because of price. Mounjaro manages weight; it does not cure the biology behind it. In SURMOUNT-4, people who stopped tirzepatide after 36 weeks regained on average 14% of body weight over the following year, while those who continued treatment lost a further 5.5% on average. Tirzepatide has a half-life of about five days, so after a final dose it takes roughly 4–5 weeks to clear the system. There is no way to speed this up, and nothing needs doing while it clears.1

Treatment works alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity, not instead of them, and those habits are what you carry forward.

If you have reached your target, our guide on what to do at your goal weight covers the next steps.

08 · Safety questions

What about long-term effects, the liver and pancreatitis?

Questions about long-term effects, liver health and pancreatitis are about safety, not price, and deserve a prescriber's answer.

If you notice a new or lasting symptom, tell your prescriber, and you can report suspected side effects through the Yellow Card scheme. Mounjaro is not known to damage the liver directly.19 Our prescribing team offers ongoing monthly reviews, dose titration and side-effect support. Do not stop or change a dose yourself because of a price change; ask first.

09 · Avoiding fake pens

Why price pressure makes counterfeit pens a real risk

When prices rise, cut-price offers become more tempting, and that is exactly when to be careful. The MHRA has seized thousands of fake weight-loss pens in the UK and has issued alerts after falsified Mounjaro pens were identified. Fake pens have caused hospitalisations, and some contained insulin rather than tirzepatide.7

Only buy from a pharmacy you can verify on the GPhC register, never from social media, beauty salons or unverified websites.12 Genuine treatment always involves a prescription and a clinical consultation. Anyone offering to supply without a consultation or prescription is a warning sign.

A genuine UK pen comes from a registered pharmacy with a batch number and expiry date, and arrives cold-chain packaged. The solution inside is clear and colourless. Do not use a pen that has been frozen, looks cloudy or discoloured, has particles in it, is past its expiry, has been above 30°C, or has been out of the fridge for more than 30 days in use.13 Our Mounjaro comes through official LillyDirect supply, direct from Eli Lilly's UK distribution.

10 · NHS access

Does the NHS route avoid the price rise?

Mounjaro is available on the NHS, but access is being phased in over several years. NICE recommends it for adults with a BMI of at least 35 plus at least one weight-related condition.4 The primary-care rollout began in June 2025 with the highest-need groups first, initially BMI 40+ with four or more qualifying conditions.6

Full rollout is expected to take years, which is why many people who meet the licensed criteria choose regulated private treatment rather than waiting. If you may qualify, ask your GP. Private treatment is licensed for adults with a BMI of 30 or above, or between 27 and 30 with at least one weight-related condition, alongside a reduced-calorie diet and more activity.1

11 · How ordering works

How ordering from us works

Ordering takes three steps, and the consultation is free with no obligation.

  • Free online consultation: a short health questionnaire, with no charge.
  • Prescriber review: reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber. Payment is taken when you place the order; if the prescriber decides the treatment is not suitable, the order is refunded automatically in full.
  • Dispatch and delivery: same-day dispatch when ordered by 3pm, then free next-day tracked delivery in temperature-controlled packaging. Saturday delivery is £14.99.

The price shown is the price paid, with no hidden fees. You can pay by Visa or Mastercard, Klarna or pay-monthly options, and there are no subscriptions. Repeat orders re-check suitability, so there is no auto-shipping. All six doses are in stock. Mounjaro is a prescription-only medicine, supplied only after an online consultation reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber. Individual results vary, and this page is information, not a substitute for medical advice.

12 · About the price rise

Why did Mounjaro prices rise in the UK?

Eli Lilly announced the UK list-price increase on 14 August 2025, in a statement about its role in biopharmaceutical innovation that included the agreement to raise the UK list price of Mounjaro.10 It took effect on 1 September 2025.

Our Cuva Mounjaro prices page is one example of how we break down a single provider's pricing.

13 · Serious side effects

Serious side effects: when to get help straight away

Serious side effects are uncommon but need urgent attention. Seek immediate medical help for: severe, persistent stomach pain that may spread to your back, with or without vomiting (possible pancreatitis); pain in the upper right abdomen, fever or yellowing of skin/eyes (possible gallbladder problems); or signs of a severe allergic reaction such as swelling of the face or throat and difficulty breathing. If you take insulin or a sulfonylurea alongside Mounjaro, watch for low blood sugar (shakiness, sweating, confusion) — your prescriber may need to adjust those medicines.1

What is the new drug better than Mounjaro?
Wegovy is another licensed once-weekly option, and oral options such as Wegovy tablets and Foundayo have their own product information. Which suits you depends on your health and history, so a GPhC-registered prescriber should decide. Different trials are not head-to-head comparisons.
Can you keep weight off after stopping Mounjaro?
Mounjaro manages weight; it does not cure the biology behind it. In SURMOUNT-4, people who stopped tirzepatide after 36 weeks regained on average 14% of body weight over the following year, while those who continued treatment lost a further 5.5% on average. The medicine takes roughly 4–5 weeks to clear your system after the last dose. Plan any exit with your prescriber, including diet and activity support.

Can I make my Mounjaro pens last longer to save money?
No. Each pen delivers four weekly doses.
