A quick overview

What to know
before you start.

  • A genuine program is a licensed medicine, a prescriber review and regular follow-up. An injection posted with no assessment is not a program.
  • Mounjaro (tirzepatide) is a once-weekly pen. Everyone starts on 2.5mg and steps up gradually.
  • Results come gradually and trial averages do not predict your own result.
  • NHS access is being phased in over several years, so many people choose regulated private treatment.
  • Check the provider's GPhC registration and whether a prescriber reviews you before anything is supplied.
In this guide

01 · The core answer

What a weight loss injection program includes

A sound program has four parts: a licensed medicine, a prescriber review, a titration plan and follow-up. Marketing pages often add "lifestyle support", but the injection is licensed for use alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity, not instead of them.1

Part of the programWhat to look for
MedicineA licensed product such as Mounjaro (tirzepatide) or Wegovy (semaglutide), supplied by a registered pharmacy
AssessmentA consultation reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber, not an automated score
TitrationA gradual dose ladder, with the pace guided by how you tolerate each step
Follow-upRegular reviews, side-effect support and a check before each repeat order
CostOne clear price with no hidden fees

For a wider look at structured plans, see our guide to medical weight loss programs and our overview of what a GLP-1 program involves.

02 · Your decision

Is a program right for you, and what next?

A program suits adults with a weight-management need who are ready for gradual change. Whether it is safe for you is a prescriber's decision, based on your health history and current medicines. If you already know you want Mounjaro, you can see the Mounjaro pen prices and consultation. If you are still comparing, our online GLP-1 program comparison is a sensible next read.

03 · Mounjaro in a program

How Mounjaro works inside a program

Mounjaro is the brand name for tirzepatide, a once-weekly injectable prescription medicine made by Eli Lilly.1 It activates the GIP and GLP-1 receptors, which helps most people feel fuller sooner and less hungry between meals.1

In the SURMOUNT-1 trial of 2,539 adults, people taking tirzepatide alongside diet and exercise lost on average 15% of their body weight on 5mg, 19.5% on 10mg and 20.9% on 15mg over 72 weeks, compared with 3.1% with lifestyle changes alone. These are trial averages, and individual results vary.2

04 · Dose steps and pace

Dose steps and realistic pace

Everyone starts Mounjaro on 2.5mg once a week. The dose then rises in steps, and many people settle at a maintenance dose of 5mg, 10mg or 15mg, because higher is not automatically better.1

Weight loss on Mounjaro is gradual by design. Trials measured results at 72 weeks — think in months, not days, and judge progress by trend, not individual weigh-ins.1 If you have lost less than 5% of your starting weight after 6 months on the highest dose you can tolerate, your prescriber will discuss whether continuing or stopping is right for you.1

05 · NHS or private

NHS or private program?

Mounjaro is available on the NHS, but access is being phased in over several years.6 NICE recommends it for adults with a BMI of at least 35 plus at least one weight-related condition, and the NHS primary-care rollout began in June 2025 with the highest-need groups first (initially BMI 40+ with four or more qualifying conditions).4

Full rollout is expected to take years, which is why many people who meet the licensed criteria choose regulated private treatment rather than waiting. Our weight loss clinic page explains the private route.

06 · Spotting a poor program

How to spot a poor program

Be wary of anyone offering to supply without a consultation or prescription, or promising specific results. Dramatic weight-loss claims are a warning sign. Check the pharmacy on the GPhC register; ours is GPhC 9012878.12 Counterfeit injectables are a known risk, and suspected fake products or side effects can be reported through the Yellow Card scheme.7

Supplements sold as "natural" alternatives are low-cost products with no clinical oversight, and they are not equivalent to the licensed medicines. For a view on safety across options, see healthiest weight loss injections.

07 · How we run ours

How our program works

  • Free online consultation, reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber. Payment is taken when you place the order; if the prescriber decides the treatment is not suitable, the order is refunded automatically in full.
  • Official LillyDirect supply of genuine KwikPens, with all six doses in stock.
  • Free next-day tracked delivery in temperature-controlled packaging, with same-day dispatch when ordered by 3pm.
  • Ongoing monthly reviews, side-effect support and the free GLPTrackr app. Serious side effects are uncommon but need urgent attention. Seek immediate medical help for severe, persistent stomach pain that may spread to your back, with or without vomiting (possible pancreatitis); pain in the upper right abdomen, fever or yellowing of skin/eyes (possible gallbladder problems); or signs of a severe allergic reaction such as swelling of the face or throat and difficulty breathing. Repeat orders re-check suitability, and there are no subscriptions.

New customers save £40 on their first order with code FIRST40, and an automatic £25 reorder discount applies to every future order (code DOSE25).

How ordering works

How ordering works at EverydayMeds

Three steps, with our pharmacy team alongside you.

  1. EverydayMeds online consultation on a mobile phone

    Step 1: Online consultation — 5–10 minutes

Complete a confidential health questionnaire covering BMI, medical history and current medication. No payment is taken until you're approved.

  2. A clinician ready to review an online consultation

Step 2: Prescriber review — usually same day

A UK registered prescriber checks your suitability against the licensed criteria (BMI ≥30, or ≥27 with a weight-related condition) and contraindications, and confirms your starting dose.

  3. An EverydayMeds delivery box

    Step 3: Next-day tracked delivery

Dispensed by our GPhC-registered pharmacy in temperature-controlled packaging with needles and a sharps bin included. Orders approved by 3pm for next-day tracked delivery.

Prescription and dispatch follow clinical approval. Confirm current delivery options when ordering.

Afterwards you're not on your own: dose-change reviews are built in before each step up, our pharmacist team is available for side-effect questions, and repeat orders re-check suitability rather than auto-shipping.

Your questions, answered

Mounjaro price UK — frequently asked questions

Answers to common questions about Mounjaro prices, NHS access and ongoing treatment.

Ask our pharmacy team
What should a weight loss injection program include?
A sound program is built around a licensed medicine, a genuine prescriber review and regular follow-up, matched to your health. No single brand suits everyone. Compare what is included, how doses are stepped up, how repeat orders are checked and whether the price is clear before you commit.
What are the criteria for Mounjaro on the NHS?
NICE recommends it for adults with a BMI of at least 35 plus at least one weight-related condition. The NHS primary-care rollout began in June 2025 with the highest-need groups first (initially BMI 40+ with four or more qualifying conditions). Access is being phased in over several years, so ask your GP.
Which is safer, Ozempic or Mounjaro?
Ozempic is semaglutide licensed for type 2 diabetes only; it is not a UK weight-loss medicine, and prescribing it privately for weight loss is off-label. The licensed weight-management options are Mounjaro (tirzepatide) and Wegovy (semaglutide 2.4mg). Which suits you depends on your health history and current medicines, so a prescriber should decide. Read the patient information leaflet and report any suspected side effect through the Yellow Card scheme.
Who should not take Mounjaro?
Mounjaro is not suitable for everyone, which is why a prescriber reviews every consultation before supply. You should not take Mounjaro if you are allergic to tirzepatide or any of its ingredients, and it should not be used during pregnancy or while trying to conceive. Your prescriber will take extra care, or may recommend against treatment, if you have a history of pancreatitis, severe gut or digestive disease, diabetic retinopathy, or gallbladder problems. The SmPC advises switching to a non-oral method, or adding a barrier method (such as condoms), for 4 weeks after starting Mounjaro and for 4 weeks after each dose increase.1 Mounjaro must not be used during pregnancy, and it should be stopped at least one month before trying to conceive. If you become pregnant during treatment, stop the medicine and tell your prescriber promptly.
What is known as the poor man's Ozempic?
The phrase is marketing for supplements such as berberine. These are low-cost products with no clinical oversight, and dosing is not standardised. They are not equivalent to licensed GLP-1 medicines and should not be treated as a substitute. Speak to a pharmacist or prescriber about evidence-based options.
What is a cheaper alternative to Ozempic for weight loss?
Licensed options differ in price. Mounjaro's standard starting pen is £169.99. Across the UK pharmacies we track, Mounjaro pens range from £143.96 to £339.00 (checked 10 October 2026). Avoid unregulated sellers, whatever the price.
Is there a new drug better than Mounjaro?
Newer treatments, including tablets, are being licensed or developed, but each has its own evidence and suitability. Your prescriber can tell you which option suits you.
