What does Mounjaro cost per month in the UK?

One Mounjaro pen costs £169.99 at 2.5mg and rises in steps to £299.99 at 15mg, and each pen lasts four weeks. Mounjaro is a once-weekly injection, so a pen is one month of treatment. You can see every strength, with live prices, on the Mounjaro pen product page. All six doses are in stock.

Your first 2.5mg pen costs £129.99 with code FIRST40 (standard price £169.99). The new-customer discount applies at any dose, so if you are switching to us from another provider at 15mg, your first order is £259.99. At standard prices, 2.5mg works out at £42.50 a week, 5mg at £47.50, 7.5mg at £61.25, 10mg at £68.75, 12.5mg at £72.50 and 15mg at £75.00.

Why the price changes with the dose

Mounjaro comes as a pre-filled multi-dose KwikPen in six strengths: 2.5mg, 5mg, 7.5mg, 10mg, 12.5mg and 15mg.¹

Most people do not stay at one price for the whole course. Treatment starts at 2.5mg and steps up under prescriber review, so your monthly cost changes as your dose changes. Your prescriber decides when to move up and where to settle, and cost alone should not drive that choice.

What does a year of Mounjaro cost?

A first year of Mounjaro costs £2,399.88 if you settle at 5mg, and up to £3,279.88 at 15mg, at standard prices before discounts. A year is 52 weeks, or 13 pens. A new customer's first order is £40 less, and every later order is £25 less.

In the SURMOUNT-1 trial of 2,539 adults, people lost on average 15% of their body weight on 5mg, 19.5% on 10mg and 20.9% on 15mg over 72 weeks, compared with 3.1% with lifestyle changes alone. What is included in the Mounjaro price?

Is the cost of Mounjaro coming down?

The most recent change to the Mounjaro list price was an increase. Pharmacy sell prices vary because of confidential discounts, which is why the figures we track differ between providers.

06 · NHS versus private

NHS or private: what is the difference in cost?

Mounjaro is available on the NHS, but access is being phased in over several years. NICE recommends it for adults with a BMI of at least 35 plus at least one weight-related condition, and the NHS primary-care rollout began in June 2025 with the highest-need groups first (initially BMI 40+ with four or more qualifying conditions). Full rollout is expected to take years, which is why many people who meet the licensed criteria choose regulated private treatment rather than waiting.⁴⁶

If you are prescribed on the NHS in England, the standard NHS prescription charge of £9.90 applies unless you are exempt. Ask your GP whether you fall within the current rollout groups. The overview of the Mounjaro drug covers more on how it works and who it is for.

07 · Who can be prescribed

Who can be prescribed Mounjaro privately?

Mounjaro is licensed for weight management in adults with a BMI of 30 or above, or a BMI between 27 and 30 with at least one weight-related condition such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, obstructive sleep apnoea, cardiovascular disease, prediabetes or type 2 diabetes. It must be used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity.¹¹¹

09 · Avoiding fake pens

Why a very low price should worry you

A price far below what UK pharmacies normally charge is a warning sign, because fake pens are in circulation. The MHRA has seized thousands of fake weight-loss pens in the UK and has issued alerts after falsified Mounjaro pens were identified. Fake pens have caused hospitalisations, and some contained insulin rather than tirzepatide.⁷

Only buy from a pharmacy you can verify on the GPhC register, never from social media, beauty salons or unverified websites. Genuine treatment always involves a prescription and a clinical consultation.¹²

Genuine UK stock is supplied through Lilly's official distribution to licensed pharmacies, and every pen carries a batch number and expiry date that can be checked. A genuine pen arrives cold-chain packaged, and the solution inside is clear and colourless. Do not use a pen that has been frozen, looks cloudy or discoloured, has particles in it, is past its expiry, has been above 30°C, or has been out of the fridge for more than 30 days in use. If supply or packaging ever seems wrong, check the pharmacy on the GPhC register and contact it before injecting.¹³
