  • If you live in the UK, standard Mounjaro pens cost from £169.99 for 2.5mg after a free online consultation.
In this guide

01 · Our position

Can you get prescription weight loss drugs in NZ from us?

No. EverydayMeds is a UK online pharmacy, and our prescribing, dispensing and delivery all operate within the UK. If you are in New Zealand, you need a clinician registered there, and a pharmacy that supplies there.

New Zealand approvals, subsidies and prices change, so your NZ doctor or pharmacist is the right person to ask. Your NZ doctor or pharmacist can tell you what is currently approved and funded.

For NZ-specific angles, our guides on weight loss drugs NZ cost, prescribed weight loss medication and the weight loss injection options cover the questions people ask most.

02 · The main options

Prescription weight loss options compared

Prescription weight loss drugs fall into a few groups.

MedicineActive ingredientHow it is takenNotes
MounjaroTirzepatideOnce-weekly injection (KwikPen), 2.5mg to 15mgActs on GIP and GLP-1 receptors1
WegovySemaglutideOnce-weekly injection, 0.25mg up to 2.4mg maintenanceTitration steps up after at least 4 weeks, reaching 2.4mg from week 1718
Saxenda and similar liraglutide productsLiraglutideDaily injection, supplied at 6mg per mlFigures vary; your prescriber can advise
Low-cost supplements (for example berberine)Not a licensed weight-loss medicineDosing is not standardisedAvailable cheaply without assessment and without clinical oversight

Oral GLP-1 tablets also exist. Wegovy tablets and Foundayo are once-daily tablets with UK product information; results from separate trials should not be set against injections as if head to head. See our overview of weight loss drugs available for the wider picture.

03 · UK costs

What these drugs cost in the UK

If you live in the UK, the Mounjaro pen is in stock across all six doses. A standard 2.5mg pen costs £169.99 per month, and 15mg costs £329.99. A new customer's first 2.5mg pen costs £129.99 with code FIRST40. Every later order is £25 off the standard price (code DOSE25).

If you step up after 4 weeks on each dose, your first four pens (2.5mg to 10mg) cost £959.96 at standard prices. A first year costs £2,711.88 if you stay on 5mg after your 2.5mg starting pen, up to £3,599.88 if you step up through every dose to 15mg. A new customer's first order is £40 less, and every later order £25 less.

For context, across the UK pharmacies we track, Mounjaro pens ranged from £143.96 to £339.00 per month as of 10 October 2026.

04 · UK ordering

How ordering works for UK customers

The UK process has four steps. Start with a free online consultation, a short health questionnaire with no charge and no obligation. Payment is taken when you place the order; if the prescriber decides the treatment is not suitable, the order is refunded automatically in full.

Our registered pharmacy dispenses approved orders, with same-day dispatch when ordered by 3pm. Delivery is free, next-day and tracked, in discreet temperature-controlled packaging. Saturday delivery is £14.99. You can buy Mounjaro from us only with a UK delivery address.

05 · How tirzepatide works

How Mounjaro works

Mounjaro is the brand name for tirzepatide, a once-weekly injectable prescription medicine made by Eli Lilly. In the UK it is licensed for weight management in adults and for type 2 diabetes.1 It comes as a pre-filled multi-dose KwikPen in six strengths: 2.5mg, 5mg, 7.5mg, 10mg, 12.5mg and 15mg.

Tirzepatide activates two natural gut-hormone receptors at once, GIP and GLP-1. Together these help regulate appetite, slow how quickly the stomach empties and improve the way the body responds to insulin. Most people feel fuller sooner and less hungry between meals, which supports a reduced-calorie diet.1

This dual action distinguishes it from single-action GLP-1 medicines such as semaglutide (Wegovy and Ozempic). Tirzepatide has a half-life of about five days, so after a final dose it takes roughly 4 to 5 weeks to clear the system.1

06 · Trial results

What the trial evidence shows

SURMOUNT-1 gives the clearest tirzepatide figures. In 2,539 adults, people taking tirzepatide alongside diet and exercise lost on average 15% of their body weight on 5mg, 19.5% on 10mg and 20.9% on 15mg over 72 weeks. The comparison group, using lifestyle changes alone, lost 3.1%.2

At 72 weeks, 85% of participants on 5mg, 89% on 10mg and 91% on 15mg had lost at least 5% of their body weight. Half of participants on 10mg and 57% on 15mg lost at least 20%.2

As a worked example, for someone starting at 100 kg, 20.9% is about 21 kg. These are trial averages, and they do not predict your own result. Individual results vary, and treatment works alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity, not instead of them.2

SURMOUNT-5 is the trial that compared tirzepatide directly with semaglutide.15

07 · Who it suits

Who tirzepatide is licensed for

Under UK licensing, Mounjaro is for adults with a BMI of 30 or above. It is also for adults with a BMI between 27 and 30 plus at least one weight-related condition, such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, obstructive sleep apnoea, cardiovascular disease, prediabetes or type 2 diabetes.1 It must be used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity.

A prescriber assesses your BMI, medical history and current medicines before deciding whether it is suitable. New Zealand's criteria may differ, so ask your NZ prescriber what applies there. Our UK prescription guide sets out the UK pathway in detail.

In the UK, Mounjaro is available on the NHS, but access is being phased in over several years. NICE recommends it for adults with a BMI of at least 35 plus at least one weight-related condition. The NHS primary-care rollout began in June 2025 with the highest-need groups first, initially BMI 40+ with four or more qualifying conditions.46

08 · Interactions and cautions

What to avoid and what to tell your prescriber

Tell your prescriber about everything you take. Because Mounjaro slows stomach emptying, it can affect how quickly some oral medicines are absorbed, particularly when you start treatment or increase the dose.1

Mention warfarin or other narrow-margin medicines, insulin, and sulfonylureas, where doses may need reducing to avoid low blood sugar. No adjustment is needed for paracetamol.1 Treat the drug as one part of a plan that includes a reduced-calorie diet and more physical activity.

Report any suspected side effect through the Yellow Card scheme if you are in the UK.19 Get medical help straight away for severe, persistent stomach pain that may spread to your back, with or without vomiting (possible pancreatitis); pain in the upper right abdomen, fever or yellowing of skin or eyes (possible gallbladder problems); or signs of a severe allergic reaction such as swelling of the face or throat and difficulty breathing. New Zealand has its own reporting route, which your pharmacist can point you to.

09 · Buying safely

Buying prescription weight loss drugs safely

Only buy from a registered pharmacy that supplies after a consultation and a prescription. Be wary of anyone offering to supply without a consultation or prescription, or promising specific results.7

In the UK you can check a pharmacy on the GPhC register; ours is registration 9012878.12 We supply genuine Mounjaro KwikPens through official LillyDirect supply, direct from Eli Lilly's UK distribution. In New Zealand, check your own regulator's pharmacy register before ordering anywhere. Our note on amphetamine-type drugs for weight loss explains why older stimulant products are a different category from GLP-1 medicines. For a wider look at the options we cover, see all weight loss treatments.

Mounjaro (tirzepatide) is a prescription-only medicine, supplied only after an online consultation reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber. This page is information, not a substitute for medical advice.

Your questions, answered

Mounjaro price UK — frequently asked questions

Answers to common questions about Mounjaro prices, NHS access and ongoing treatment.

Ask our pharmacy team
What is the newest weight loss medication approved in New Zealand?
Ask a New Zealand prescriber or pharmacist for the current list. In the UK, Wegovy tablets and Foundayo are now licensed GLP-1 weight-loss tablets; an NZ prescriber can tell you their status there.
Which weight loss medication suits me in NZ?
No licensed medicine suits everyone; your prescriber decides which suits you.
How much is Ozempic in NZ per month?
We do not supply New Zealand, so ask an NZ pharmacist for a current Ozempic price. Ozempic is semaglutide licensed for type 2 diabetes only; it is not a UK weight-loss medicine. The licensed weight-management options are Mounjaro and Wegovy.
What is known as the "poor man's Ozempic"?
The nickname is used in marketing for low-cost supplements such as berberine. They are not licensed weight-loss medicines, they are available cheaply without assessment, and they carry no clinical oversight. Dosing is not standardised, and they are not an established substitute for prescription GLP-1 medicines.
Which is safer, Wegovy or Mounjaro?
Both are licensed prescription treatments, and neither is safer for everyone. Suitability depends on your medical history and current medicines, which a prescriber reviews. SURMOUNT-5 is the trial that compared tirzepatide directly with semaglutide. Report any side effects to your prescriber.
Which is cheaper, Mounjaro or Wegovy?
In the UK, a first Mounjaro 2.5mg pen is £129.99 with code FIRST40, and a first Wegovy pen is £99.99. Both are first-order prices, and the doses are not equivalent, so compare the ongoing cost at the dose you would actually maintain. For New Zealand prices, ask an NZ pharmacist.
What should I avoid while taking Mounjaro?
Tell your prescriber about all your medicines before you start. It slows stomach emptying and can affect how some oral medicines are absorbed, especially warfarin, insulin and sulfonylureas, where doses may need reducing. Use it alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity.
What can doctors prescribe for weight loss in NZ?
That depends on current New Zealand approvals and funding. The medicines commonly discussed are semaglutide, tirzepatide and liraglutide. Your NZ doctor can tell you which are approved and subsidised, and whether you meet the criteria. Our overview of drugs available explains each one.
