A quick overview

What to know
before you start.

  • Today's new prescription appetite suppressants are GLP-1-based medicines, not the stimulant-style pills older web pages describe.
  • Mounjaro activates two gut-hormone receptors, GIP and GLP-1, and is licensed in the UK for weight management in adults.
  • In SURMOUNT-1, average weight loss was 15% on 5mg, 19.5% on 10mg and 20.9% on 15mg over 72 weeks. Individual results vary.
  • A first 2.5mg pen costs £129.99 as a first-order price with code FIRST40 (standard price £169.99).
  • 'Natural' appetite suppressants are low-cost supplements with no clinical oversight and no dependable evidence behind the marketing.

01 · The decision

Which new appetite suppressant prescription is right for you?

For adults who meet the licensed criteria and want an injectable option, Mounjaro is the treatment we supply.

If you have a BMI of 30 or above, or 27 to 30 with a weight-related condition, a prescriber can assess whether Mounjaro suits you.1 You can start with our free consultation, which carries no charge and no obligation.

02 · Cost

What Mounjaro costs as a prescription appetite suppressant

Your first 2.5mg pen costs £129.99 with code FIRST40, against a standard price of £169.99. A new customer can use the first-order discount at any dose, which matters if you are switching to us from another provider at a higher strength. Switching at 15mg? Your first order is £289.99.

After the first order, an automatic £25 reorder discount applies to every future order (code DOSE25). The monthly cost at any dose is therefore that dose's standard price less the reorder discount. If you step up after 4 weeks on each dose, your first four pens (2.5mg to 10mg) cost £959.96 at standard prices, before discounts.

Across the UK pharmacies we track, the cheapest and dearest Mounjaro pens at any dose run from £143.96 to £339.00, checked 10 October 2026. The consultation is free, and the price shown is the price paid.

03 · Why us

What you get when you order from us

We are a GPhC-registered UK online pharmacy (registration 9012878), and our Mounjaro comes through official LillyDirect supply, direct from Eli Lilly's UK distribution. Your consultation is reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber, not a scoring script. Payment is taken when you place the order; if the prescriber decides the treatment is not suitable, the order is refunded automatically in full.

Orders placed by 3pm are dispatched the same day, with free next-day tracked delivery in temperature-controlled, discreet packaging. Ongoing monthly reviews are included, and you can pay by card, Klarna or pay-monthly options with no subscription lock-in.

04 · What counts as new

What counts as a new appetite suppressant today?

The modern answer is a GLP-1-based prescription medicine. These work with the body's own gut-hormone signalling rather than acting as a stimulant.

The newer class includes injections taken once a week and, more recently, daily tablets. Mounjaro is the once-weekly injectable we supply. It is the brand name for tirzepatide, made by Eli Lilly, and it is licensed in the UK for weight management in adults and for type 2 diabetes.1 It comes as a pre-filled multi-dose pen (KwikPen) in six strengths: 2.5mg, 5mg, 7.5mg, 10mg, 12.5mg and 15mg.1

The phrase "appetite suppressant" is also a slightly loose description. These medicines help regulate appetite and slow how quickly the stomach empties, so most people feel fuller sooner and less hungry between meals. They do not replace a reduced-calorie diet and more physical activity. They are designed to make following one easier.

"New" has three practical meanings for a reader:

  • Newly licensed or newly available in the UK, such as the tablet forms of GLP-1 medicines.
  • New in mechanism, such as tirzepatide acting on two receptors at once.
  • New to you, meaning a medicine your GP or a private prescriber has not yet discussed with you.

All of them are prescription-only. A prescriber has to assess your BMI, medical history and current medicines before deciding whether any of them is suitable.

One caution applies to anything marketed as a breakthrough. If a seller offers to supply a prescription appetite suppressant without a consultation or prescription, treat it as a red flag. A legitimate supply always involves a clinical review first.

05 · How Mounjaro works

How Mounjaro reduces appetite

Mounjaro reduces appetite by activating two natural gut-hormone receptors at once: GIP and GLP-1. Tirzepatide is the first treatment of its kind to do this.1 Together these receptors help regulate appetite, slow how quickly the stomach empties and improve the way the body responds to insulin.1

In practice, most people feel fuller sooner and less hungry between meals, which supports a reduced-calorie diet.1 It is a support for eating less, not a stimulant that works on your nervous system. That distinction matters if you have come across older appetite-suppressant pills.

The dual action is what separates Mounjaro from single-action GLP-1 medicines such as semaglutide, which is sold as Wegovy and Ozempic.1

Why a weekly pen matters

Tirzepatide has a half-life of about five days. After a final dose it takes roughly 4 to 5 weeks to clear the system.1 There is no way to speed this up, and nothing needs doing while it clears. This is also why a once-weekly schedule works. The medicine stays active between doses, so you inject on the same day each week rather than taking something daily.

Why doses step up

Mounjaro comes in six strengths, and treatment uses a stepped approach with your prescriber guiding any change. Our prescribing team handles dose titration and follow-up assessments as part of ongoing monthly reviews.

If you notice anything new or worrying, speak to your prescriber, and you can report suspected side effects through the MHRA Yellow Card scheme.19

06 · What the trial showed

What the SURMOUNT-1 trial showed

In SURMOUNT-1, adults taking tirzepatide alongside diet and exercise lost on average 15% of their body weight on 5mg, 19.5% on 10mg and 20.9% on 15mg over 72 weeks. The comparison group, using lifestyle changes alone, lost 3.1%.2 The trial involved 2,539 adults.2

These are trial averages, and individual results vary. Treatment works alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity, not instead of them.2 A trial average does not predict your own result.

A worked example

Percentages are easier to picture as weights. For someone starting at 100 kg, 15% is about 15 kg, 19.5% is about 19.5 kg and 20.9% is about 21 kg. That is straight arithmetic on the trial averages, not a forecast for any individual.

How many people reached key thresholds

At 72 weeks, 85% of participants on 5mg, 89% on 10mg and 91% on 15mg had lost at least 5% of their body weight.2 Half of participants on 10mg and 57% on 15mg lost at least 20% of their body weight.2

Those figures describe the range of outcomes better than a single average. A mean of 20.9% hides a spread, and some people lose less than the average. Anyone who tells you what you personally will lose is guessing.

How to read other trials

You will see trial numbers for other medicines quoted online, including semaglutide in STEP 19 and tablets in their own trials. Different trials recruit different people and run for different lengths of time. Only a trial that compares two medicines directly can support that kind of comparison.

The sensible reading is this: a prescription GLP-1-based medicine, used with diet and activity, has trial evidence of meaningful average weight loss. Whether it suits you depends on your health, your goals and what a prescriber finds in your consultation. Our free consultation is where that starts.

07 · Eligibility and NHS

Who can get it, on the NHS or privately?

Mounjaro is licensed for weight management in adults with a BMI of 30 or above, or a BMI between 27 and 30 with at least one weight-related condition. Qualifying conditions include high blood pressure, high cholesterol, obstructive sleep apnoea, cardiovascular disease, prediabetes or type 2 diabetes.111 It must be used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity.

A prescriber assesses your BMI, medical history and current medicines before deciding whether it is suitable for you. That is why the consultation matters. It is a clinical review, and some orders are declined. When that happens we refund the order automatically in full.

The NHS route

Mounjaro is available on the NHS, but access is being phased in over several years. NICE recommends it for adults with a BMI of at least 35 plus at least one weight-related condition.4 The NHS primary-care rollout began in June 2025 with the highest-need groups first, initially BMI 40 or above with four or more qualifying conditions.6 Full rollout is expected to take years.5

If you think you may qualify, ask your GP. NHS prescriptions in England carry the standard £9.90 charge unless you are exempt.

The private route

Many people who meet the licensed criteria but are not yet in an NHS priority group choose regulated private treatment rather than waiting. The licensed criteria are wider than the early NHS groups, so some people are eligible privately and not yet on the NHS pathway.

A private route does not mean a lower standard. A legitimate supplier is a GPhC-registered pharmacy with a prescriber reviewing every order, and you can check the register yourself.12 Our registration number is 9012878.

What to prepare for a consultation

  • Your height and weight, so a BMI can be assessed.
  • A list of the medicines you currently take, including over-the-counter products.
  • Any weight-related conditions, such as high blood pressure or prediabetes.
  • Any relevant history your prescriber should know about before deciding.

The questionnaire is short, free and carries no obligation. Repeat orders re-check suitability, and there is no auto-shipping, so nothing is sent without a fresh review.

08 · Other new options

The other new prescription options

Mounjaro is not the only new prescription option. The other recent arrivals are the tablet forms of GLP-1 medicines, plus longer-established injections.

Wegovy tablets and Foundayo

Wegovy tablets contain oral semaglutide, and Foundayo is the brand name for orforglipron, another oral GLP-1 medicine. Both have UK product information published on the electronic medicines compendium.2021 They appeal to people who would rather not inject.

For current Wegovy tablet prices, see our weight loss treatments page. A prescriber can tell you which form is appropriate for you.

Wegovy injection

The pens are 0.25mg, 0.5mg, 1mg, 1.7mg and 2.4mg, and the dose rises after at least four weeks to reach the 2.4mg maintenance dose from week 17.18 Our first Wegovy pen starts at £99.99, a first-order price. Check availability at the time of order.

Liraglutide

Liraglutide, sold as Saxenda and in other products such as Erly, is supplied at 6mg per millilitre. It is a daily injection, unlike once-weekly Mounjaro and Wegovy.

Retatrutide and other pipeline names

You may see retatrutide mentioned as the next big thing. If a website offers it for sale, treat that with great caution and speak to a prescriber instead. Pipeline medicines are best discussed with a clinician as and when they become properly available.

How to choose

The honest framing is that licensed GLP-1-based medicines differ in how you take them (weekly injection, daily tablet or daily injection), in their mechanism and in cost. A prescriber weighs those against your history. If you want to see how we supply the weekly option, our Mounjaro pen page shows doses and live prices.

09 · Natural alternatives

What about a new natural appetite suppressant?

A "new natural appetite suppressant" is almost always a low-cost supplement with no clinical oversight. It is not a licensed treatment for weight management. Labels such as "nature's Ozempic" or "poor man's Ozempic" are marketing phrases, not medicines. They borrow the name of a prescription product to imply an equivalence that does not exist.

Dosing is not standardised for supplements, and a supplement's cheapness is a safety and evidence point, not a selling point.

Berberine and similar products

Berberine is often promoted as a natural alternative to prescription injections. It is available cheaply without assessment, which means nobody checks whether it is suitable for you or whether it interacts with your medicines.

Fibre, vitamins and amino acids

Fibre products, vitamins and amino-acid supplements can be part of a balanced diet. Their role is nutritional, not a replacement for a prescription medicine. Our explainers on L-phenylalanine as an appetite suppressant, Ayurvedic appetite suppressants and appetite suppressant nootropics go through the specifics, and appetite suppressant savers covers budget-minded choices.

Can you mimic Ozempic naturally?

No supplement or food reproduces what a prescription GLP-1-based medicine does. The honest, useful answer is that a reduced-calorie diet and regular physical activity are what treatment is designed to support, and they are worth building whatever you decide about medication.

Signs a product is not what it claims

  • It promises specific results or a rapid transformation.
  • It is described as a copy of a prescription medicine.
  • It is sold with no consultation or questions about your health.
  • It does not list its supplier or a regulator-verifiable pharmacy.

If a symptom or effect worries you after taking any product, speak to a pharmacist or prescriber, and report suspected side effects through the Yellow Card scheme.19

Our guide to the opposite of an appetite suppressant may also help if your issue is the reverse.

10 · Safety and supply

Safety, counterfeits and stopping treatment

Mounjaro (tirzepatide) is a prescription-only medicine, supplied only after an online consultation reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber. It is used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity, and individual results vary.

Counterfeit and unregulated supply

Counterfeit weight-loss medicines are a recognised risk, and the MHRA publishes counterfeit medicine alerts.7 Protect yourself by buying only from a GPhC-registered pharmacy, which you can verify on the public register.12 Be wary of anyone offering to supply without a consultation or prescription, or of unusually cheap pens from social media sellers.

Our supply is official LillyDirect supply, sourced directly from Eli Lilly's UK distribution, and every pen is a genuine KwikPen. All six doses from 2.5mg to 15mg are in stock.

Side effects and reporting

The full list of side effects sits in the patient information leaflet13 and the summary of product characteristics.1 Read both before you start. If you notice a new symptom, discuss it with your prescriber. You can report any suspected side effect to the MHRA through the Yellow Card scheme.19

Our support team is available Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, by email at support@everydaymeds.co.uk, through the account portal chat or by phone on 0333 207 0413. Ongoing monthly reviews and side-effect support are part of the aftercare.

What happens if you stop

Tirzepatide has a half-life of about five days, so after a final dose it takes roughly 4 to 5 weeks to clear the system.1 There is nothing to do while it clears and no way to hasten it. Mounjaro manages weight; it does not cure the biology behind it. In SURMOUNT-4, people who stopped tirzepatide after 36 weeks regained on average 14% of body weight over the following year, while those who continued treatment lost a further 5.5% on average. Stopping should always be planned with your prescriber, with diet and activity habits ready to carry the load.

Every order comes with needles, a sharps bin and injection guidance, and the pen's own instructions tell you how to inject.

11 · Serious side effects

Serious side effects: when to get help straight away

Serious side effects are uncommon but need urgent attention. Seek immediate medical help for: severe, persistent stomach pain that may spread to your back, with or without vomiting (possible pancreatitis); pain in the upper right abdomen, fever or yellowing of skin/eyes (possible gallbladder problems); or signs of a severe allergic reaction such as swelling of the face or throat and difficulty breathing. If you take insulin or a sulfonylurea alongside Mounjaro, watch for low blood sugar (shakiness, sweating, confusion) — your prescriber may need to adjust those medicines.1

12 · A year of treatment

What a year costs and how ordering works

At standard prices before discounts, a first year costs £2,711.88 if you stay on 5mg after your 2.5mg starting pen, up to £3,599.88 if you step up through every dose to 15mg. A year here means 52 weeks, or 13 pens. A new customer's first order is £40 less, and every later order is £25 less.

If you step up after 4 weeks on each dose, your first four pens (2.5mg to 10mg) cost £959.96 at standard prices. For other maintenance doses we give the monthly price only: £279.99 at 7.5mg, £290.99 at 10mg and £319.99 at 12.5mg. Which dose you settle at is for you and your prescriber to decide during your reviews.

Phase by phase

Where the market sits

Eli Lilly raised the UK list price of Mounjaro, effective 1 September 2025. Pharmacy sell prices vary because of confidential discounts. Across the UK pharmacies we track, the gap between providers for the same dose ranges from £27 to £41, checked 10 October 2026.

Your questions, answered

Mounjaro price UK — frequently asked questions

Answers to common questions about Mounjaro prices, NHS access and ongoing treatment.

Ask our pharmacy team
What is the new appetite suppressant?
The newest prescription appetite suppressants are GLP-1-based medicines. They include once-weekly injections such as Mounjaro (tirzepatide) and Wegovy (semaglutide), plus newer daily tablets. Mounjaro activates two gut-hormone receptors, GIP and GLP-1, helping people feel fuller sooner and less hungry between meals. All are prescription-only and used with a reduced-calorie diet and more activity. A prescriber must assess whether any of them suits you before supply.
What's the best prescription appetite suppressant?
There is no single best option for everyone, because suitability depends on your BMI, health history and current medicines. Mounjaro, Wegovy, liraglutide and tablet forms are all licensed options. A GPhC-registered prescriber can review your details in a free consultation and tell you which is appropriate, rather than a ranking doing it for you.
What new weight loss drugs are coming in 2026?
What is available now includes weekly injections such as Mounjaro and Wegovy, and tablet forms such as Wegovy tablets and Foundayo (orforglipron). Pipeline medicines such as retatrutide are not licensed in the UK. If a site sells an unlicensed product, treat it with caution and speak to a prescriber about licensed alternatives instead.
What are the risks of taking retatrutide?
Medicines in development or sold outside regulated supply carry extra uncertainty, including quality and counterfeit concerns. If you are tempted by it, speak to a prescriber first. For licensed medicines, risks are set out in the patient leaflet, and you can report suspected side effects through the Yellow Card scheme.
What is known as the "poor man's Ozempic"?
It is a marketing nickname, usually attached to low-cost supplements such as berberine. It is not a medicine and not a licensed treatment for weight management. These products are available cheaply without assessment, dosing is not standardised and there is no clinical oversight.
What is the strongest over the counter weight loss pill?
Products sold without assessment are low-cost supplements with no clinical oversight, and dosing is not standardised. If you want a prescription treatment, that requires a consultation reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber, with eligibility checked against BMI and health history.
What is a cheaper alternative to Ozempic?
Ozempic is semaglutide licensed for type 2 diabetes — it is not a UK weight-loss medicine, and a regulated UK pharmacy will not supply Ozempic for weight loss. Across the UK pharmacies we track, Mounjaro pens range from £143.96 to £339.00 per month, checked 10 October 2026. Supplements sold as cheap alternatives are not equivalent, because they lack clinical oversight. A prescriber can advise which licensed option fits your circumstances and budget.
How can I mimic Ozempic naturally?
You cannot reproduce what a prescription GLP-1-based medicine does with food or supplements, and products promising to are marketing, not medicine. What you can do is build the habits that treatment is designed to support: a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity. If you meet the licensed criteria, a free consultation lets a GPhC-registered prescriber assess whether a prescription treatment such as Mounjaro is suitable for you.
Can I get a new appetite suppressant prescription on the NHS?
Mounjaro is available on the NHS, but access is being phased in over several years. NICE recommends it for adults with a BMI of at least 35 plus at least one weight-related condition, and the primary-care rollout began in June 2025 with the highest-need groups first. Ask your GP whether you qualify. Many people who meet the licensed criteria choose regulated private treatment rather than wait for wider NHS access.
