Mounjaro Tracker: What to Log and How to Use It (October 2026)

A good Mounjaro tracker records five things: your dose and injection date, injection site, weight, food and appetite, and side effects. It can be an app, a spreadsheet or a printed sheet. Weekly entries are enough for most people, and the log earns its keep at review appointments. Our Mounjaro tracker app guide compares digital options.

A quick overview

What to know
before you start.

  • Log dose, injection date and site, weight, appetite and side effects. That is enough to make a useful record for your prescriber.
  • Weigh at the same time each week. Single readings fluctuate, so judge progress by the trend over several weeks.
  • Apps, spreadsheets and printable sheets all work. Choose the one you will actually fill in.
  • Track non-scale signs too: measurements, clothes fit, energy, protein and fluid intake.
  • Trial averages do not predict your own result, so use your tracker to see your own pattern, not to chase someone else's.
In this guide

01 · The core answer

What should a Mounjaro tracker record?

A useful Mounjaro tracker records the date and strength of each injection, where you injected, your weight, how hungry you felt, what you ate, and any side effects. Mounjaro is a once-weekly injectable prescription medicine, so the natural rhythm is one core entry per injection day, plus quick notes between doses.1 The medicine comes as a pre-filled multi-dose pen (KwikPen) in six strengths: 2.5mg, 5mg, 7.5mg, 10mg, 12.5mg and 15mg.1 Your tracker should show which strength you are on and when it changed.

Most tracker apps and sheets you will find online cover similar ground. Some add extras such as estimated drug levels or reminders. Those can be handy, but none of them replaces advice from your prescriber.

What to logHow oftenWhy it helps
Dose strength and injection dateEvery injectionShows when you stepped up and prevents confusion about which day is injection day
Injection siteEvery injectionMakes it easy to rotate sites rather than reuse the same spot
WeightWeekly, same time of dayBuilds a trend that smooths out normal daily swings
Appetite and food noiseDaily or weekly ratingShows how the dose is working and when appetite creeps back
Meals, protein and fluidsDaily, brieflyFlags gaps in protein and hydration as appetite falls
Side effectsAs they happenGives your prescriber a timeline to work from
Measurements and energyEvery few weeksCaptures progress the scales miss

02 · Choosing a format

Paper, spreadsheet or app?

Choose the format you will still be using in a few months. Apps are quick, can remind you of injection day and chart your weight automatically. A spreadsheet gives you full control and costs nothing. A printed sheet suits people who prefer to write things down and keep a record on the fridge door.

If you want a ready-made option, our printable weight loss tracker is designed for exactly this kind of weekly log. We also publish a guide to a free Mounjaro tracker and a roundup of the GLP-1 app trackers on offer. Our customers can also use GLPTrackr, our free companion app for tracking a GLP-1 journey on iOS and Android.

Whatever you choose, keep one master record. Several half-filled logs in different places are worse than one simple page that is complete.

03 · What to do next

Is a tracker relevant to you?

If you are already on treatment, start logging from your next injection day and add your last known dose and weight as a baseline. If you are still deciding whether treatment is right, a tracker is also a good way to record your starting point before your first dose. When you are ready to look at treatment itself, see our weight loss clinic, or go straight to the Mounjaro pen prices and consultation. Treatment is supplied only after an online consultation reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber.11

04 · Tracking your weight

Tracking your weight sensibly

Weigh yourself once a week, at the same time of day, on the same scales, in similar clothing. Daily weighing is fine if it does not make you anxious, but the number you act on should be the weekly trend, not any single reading. Water, salt, bowel habits and hormones all move the scales without changing body fat.

It helps to know what the trials measured. In the SURMOUNT-1 trial of 2,539 adults, people taking tirzepatide alongside diet and exercise lost on average 15% of their body weight on 5mg, 19.5% on 10mg and 20.9% on 15mg over 72 weeks, compared with 3.1% with lifestyle changes alone.2 These are trial averages — individual results vary, and treatment works alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity, not instead of them.2

Those averages cover a long period and a large group. Your own line will wobble, stall and dip. Use your tracker to compare yourself with yourself: where you started, where you are now, and which direction the trend is heading. Expressing progress as a percentage of your starting weight makes it easy to see your own trend without fixating on the number of kilograms.

For a worked example, someone starting at 100 kg who matched the 15mg trial average of 20.9% would have lost about 21 kg.

05 · Food and appetite log

Building a Mounjaro food tracker

A food tracker on Mounjaro is less about counting every calorie and more about spotting patterns: protein at each meal, enough fluids, and which foods sit badly. Treatment is licensed alongside a reduced-calorie diet, so the aim is a sustainable deficit, not a perfect food list.1

No food is banned on Mounjaro, including bananas, but some choices make treatment easier. Prioritise protein at each meal, vegetables and fibre, and regular fluids. Many people feel worse after very fatty, fried or very sugary food, and large portions sit heavily because the stomach empties more slowly, so smaller, slower meals work better.

A simple daily food entry can be as short as a few words per meal, plus three quick ratings:

  • Hunger: how hungry you felt between meals, on a simple scale you choose.
  • Food noise: how often thoughts about food intruded.
  • Portion comfort: whether the meal sat comfortably or left you feeling overfull.

Because tirzepatide activates the GIP and GLP-1 receptors, which help regulate appetite and slow how quickly the stomach empties, most people feel fuller sooner and less hungry between meals.1 Seeing that cycle written down can help you plan meals around it.

Do not forget drinks. High-calorie coffee drinks are an easy place for the calorie deficit to leak, although there is no interaction between Mounjaro and caffeine. Alcohol adds calories that work against your goals, and drinking on a reduced appetite and emptier stomach can hit harder than usual. Log both, honestly, without judgement.

06 · Side effects log

Logging side effects usefully

Record each side effect with the date, the injection day it followed, how bad it was, and what helped. A note such as "nausea the day after injection, eased with a smaller dinner" is far more useful to a prescriber than "felt sick sometimes".

Patterns matter most around dose changes. If symptoms cluster after a step up in strength, your log will show it clearly. Our clinical team reviews dose titration and follow-up as part of ongoing monthly reviews, and a clear record makes those conversations faster and more precise.

Keep a separate line for hydration. Drinking enough matters more on Mounjaro than usual: reduced appetite means less fluid from food, and vomiting or diarrhoea can dehydrate you quickly. Keep water within reach through the day. If you cannot keep fluids down, treat that as a contact-your-clinical-team issue, not something to push through.

For any new or lasting symptom, tell your prescriber or pharmacist. You can also report suspected side effects through the MHRA Yellow Card scheme.19 Your tracker entries make the report easier to complete accurately.

07 · Dose and injection log

Dose and injection site log

Your dose log should show the strength, the date, the day of the week and the site for every injection. Mounjaro KwikPens come in six strengths, and a clear history shows exactly when each step happened.1 Titration through the lower strengths is managed by your prescriber, so record what you were told rather than planning your own schedule.

Rotating the injection site is standard good practice, and a tracker makes it simple. Note the area each time, such as left or right abdomen or thigh, and move around. Follow the pen's instructions for how to inject; the leaflet and the guidance included with every order explain the steps.13

Add a short note about the pen itself. Once in use, a KwikPen can be kept out of the fridge at a temperature not above 30°C for up to 30 days after first use, and must then be thrown away; keep unopened pens in the fridge at 2–8°C and never freeze them. Logging the date you start each pen removes any doubt later.

If you ever miss an injection, write down what happened and what your prescriber advised. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you can within 4 days (96 hours) of the scheduled time. If more than 4 days have passed, skip the missed dose and take the next one on your normal day — never take two doses within 3 days of each other. Tirzepatide has a half-life of about five days, so after a final dose it takes roughly four to five weeks to clear the system.1 That is useful to know if you ever pause treatment and want to record how things change afterwards.

08 · Progress beyond the scales

A Mounjaro progress tracker beyond weight

A good progress tracker includes measurements, strength, energy and how your clothes fit, because weight alone misses a lot. Some of any rapid weight loss comes from lean tissue, and protecting muscle protects your metabolism, strength and appearance.1 Tracking non-scale signs shows whether you are protecting it.

Consider logging these every few weeks:

  • Measurements: waist, hips, chest and thighs, measured at the same points each time.
  • Photos: kept privately, in the same light and pose.
  • Strength: what you can lift, carry or climb without stopping.
  • Energy and sleep: a simple rating each week.
  • Protein habit: whether you included a protein source at every meal.
  • Resistance sessions: how many sessions you managed, since resistance exercise two or more times a week is one of the two levers for muscle.

Increased physical activity is part of the licence, not an optional extra. The evidence-backed pattern is regular moderate activity, such as brisk walking, plus resistance work for muscle. Start where you are and build. On injection days with early side effects, lighter movement still counts.

The first signs of progress are often not on the scales. Many people notice smaller portions, calmer thoughts about food and looser clothes before the number moves much. Our Mounjaro progress guide goes deeper on what to expect, and our Mounjaro weight loss tracker page covers the weight side in more detail.

09 · Using your log at reviews

How to use your tracker at reviews

Bring your tracker to every review and lead with three things: the trend in your weight, your appetite across the dose cycle, and any side effects that persisted. That gives your prescriber enough to judge whether your current strength is right.

A few questions your log helps answer:

  • Is my appetite controlled for the whole week, or does it return before the next injection?
  • Are side effects settling or getting worse after a dose change?
  • Am I eating enough protein and drinking enough fluid?
  • Is my weight trend moving in the direction we agreed?

NICE recommends Mounjaro for adults with a BMI of at least 35 plus at least one weight-related condition, and the NHS primary-care rollout began in June 2025 with the highest-need groups first (initially BMI 40+ with four or more qualifying conditions).46 Full rollout is expected to take years, which is why many people who meet the licensed criteria choose regulated private treatment rather than waiting. Whichever route you take, a written record makes appointments more productive.

10 · Tracking and cost

Tracking your treatment costs

It is worth keeping a simple cost line in your tracker so you know what treatment costs over time. As of October 2026, a 2.5mg starter pen costs £169.99 at the standard price, and a new customer's first order is £40 less with code FIRST40. An automatic £25 reorder discount applies to every future order (code DOSE25). Prices were checked 12 October 2026.

If you want to compare providers, our Mounjaro price tracker for the UK shows how prices across the pharmacies we track have moved.

11 · Serious side effects

Serious side effects: when to get help straight away

Serious side effects are uncommon but need urgent attention. Seek immediate medical help for: severe, persistent stomach pain that may spread to your back, with or without vomiting (possible pancreatitis); pain in the upper right abdomen, fever or yellowing of skin/eyes (possible gallbladder problems); or signs of a severe allergic reaction such as swelling of the face or throat and difficulty breathing. If you take insulin or a sulfonylurea alongside Mounjaro, watch for low blood sugar (shakiness, sweating, confusion) — your prescriber may need to adjust those medicines.1

Your questions, answered

Mounjaro price UK — frequently asked questions

Answers to common questions about Mounjaro prices, NHS access and ongoing treatment.

Ask our pharmacy team
Is there a Mounjaro tracking app?
Yes. Several third-party apps let you log injections, site rotation, weight and side effects. We also offer GLPTrackr, a free companion app for tracking a GLP-1 journey on iOS and Android. Choose one that fits how you work and keep entries brief. Our guide to the Mounjaro tracker app free download options explains what to look for.
How much weight can you lose on Mounjaro in the first few months?
It varies from person to person, and the trials measured results over a much longer period. In SURMOUNT-1, people lost on average 15% of body weight on 5mg, 19.5% on 10mg and 20.9% on 15mg over 72 weeks, versus 3.1% with lifestyle changes alone. Trial averages do not predict your own result.2
Is there a free weight loss tracker available?
Yes. You can use a free spreadsheet, a free app, or a printed sheet. The features that matter are weekly weight, dose and injection date, injection site, appetite, food and side effects. Our guide to a free Mounjaro tracker covers the options, and GLPTrackr is free for our customers.
Can you lose weight on the 2.5mg dose?
Everyone starts Mounjaro on 2.5mg once a week, and this starting dose is about letting your body adjust, not about weight loss itself. Some people notice appetite change and early loss in week one, others feel little until a higher dose, and both are normal. Your prescriber decides when to step up. Use your tracker to record appetite and weight trends and review them with your prescriber.
Is steady weekly weight loss on Mounjaro good?
Steady, gradual loss is what the medicine is designed for, alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity. Individual results vary, and weekly readings fluctuate, so judge progress by the trend over several weeks rather than any single weigh-in. If your trend stalls or drops very fast, raise it with your prescriber.
What are the first signs you are losing weight?
Early signs are often smaller appetite, feeling full sooner, calmer thoughts about food and looser clothes, sometimes before the scales move much. Because tirzepatide helps regulate appetite and slows stomach emptying, most people feel fuller sooner and less hungry between meals.1 Log these alongside your weight.
What should I do if side effects appear in my tracker?
Note the date, how severe it was and what helped, then tell your prescriber about any new or lasting symptom. If you cannot keep fluids down, contact your clinical team — dehydration needs medical help straight away. For severe, persistent stomach pain, pain in the upper right abdomen with fever, yellowing of the skin or eyes, or swelling of the face or throat, get medical help straight away. You can also report suspected side effects through the MHRA Yellow Card scheme.19 Your log gives them a clear timeline.
