A quick overview
What to know
before you start.
-
A Mounjaro program means prescribed tirzepatide, regular reviews, gradual dose increases and diet and activity changes, not a branded scheme you sign up to.
-
NHS access is being phased in over several years, so many eligible adults look at regulated private treatment instead.
-
Savings cards and affiliate schemes you see online are often aimed at other countries; check the UK relevance before you rely on them.
-
Our first order is £40 less with code FIRST40, and every later order is £25 less.
-
Always use a GPhC-registered pharmacy; medicines offered without a consultation or prescription are a red flag.

01 · The core answer
Is a Mounjaro program what you actually need?
A Mounjaro program is simply the treatment pathway around the medicine: an assessment, a prescription, a pen that is stepped up gradually, and regular check-ins. There is no membership to join and no single branded scheme in the UK. What matters is that a clinician reviews you, that the medicine is genuine, and that someone follows your progress.
Mounjaro is the brand name for tirzepatide, a once-weekly injectable prescription medicine made by Eli Lilly. In the UK it is licensed for weight management in adults and for type 2 diabetes.1 It is used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity, not instead of them.
02 · What to look for
What a good program includes
A good program is judged by what happens around the pen, not by the name on the page. Use this table to compare any provider, including us.
| Element | What good looks like | Warning sign |
|---|---|---|
| Assessment | Health questionnaire reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber | Supply offered without a consultation or prescription |
| Medicine | Genuine KwikPens from a traceable supply chain | Unbranded vials, powders or unclear sourcing |
| Titration | Gradual dose increases reviewed by a clinician | Jumping straight to a high dose |
| Follow-up | Monthly reviews and side-effect support | No contact after dispatch |
| Reorders | Suitability re-checked each time, no auto-shipping | Automatic subscriptions you struggle to stop |
| Cost clarity | The price shown is the price paid | Hidden consultation or delivery fees |
At EverydayMeds, the consultation is free, a GPhC-registered prescriber reviews it, and unsuitable orders are refunded automatically. We supply genuine Mounjaro through official LillyDirect supply, and all six doses are in stock. Ongoing monthly reviews and dose-titration are part of the service, and there are no subscriptions.
03 · What to do next
Your next step
If you meet the licensed criteria and want to start, you can begin with a free consultation on our Mounjaro pen page. For the wider picture of how we support weight loss, see our weight loss clinic. If you would rather compare structured pathways first, our guide to a Mounjaro weight loss program goes into the month-by-month detail.
04 · What Mounjaro is
What is Mounjaro?
Mounjaro is the brand name for tirzepatide, a once-weekly injectable prescription medicine made by Eli Lilly. In the UK it is licensed for weight management in adults and for type 2 diabetes. It comes as a pre-filled multi-dose pen (KwikPen) in six strengths: 2.5mg, 5mg, 7.5mg, 10mg, 12.5mg and 15mg.1
Every program, whatever it is called, is built on that same pen. The differences between providers lie in the clinical checks, the follow-up and the price, not in the medicine itself. Tirzepatide is also sometimes described as a tirzepatide program when it is bundled with coaching, which is useful but not essential to the treatment working.
05 · How it works
How does a Mounjaro program work?
Tirzepatide activates two natural gut-hormone receptors at once: GIP and GLP-1. Together these help regulate appetite, slow how quickly the stomach empties, and improve the way the body responds to insulin. In practice, most people feel fuller sooner and less hungry between meals, which supports a reduced-calorie diet.1
That is why a program pairs the pen with food and activity changes. The medicine makes eating less easier; the habits you build while on it are what you carry forward. Doses start low and are stepped up gradually, with a clinician reviewing how you are tolerating each step. Our 3 month tirzepatide program guide shows what the early stage typically involves.
The medicine takes time to leave your body after the final dose. Tirzepatide has a half-life of about five days, so after a final dose it takes roughly 4–5 weeks to clear the system — there is no way to speed this up, and nothing needs doing while it clears.1
06 · NHS route
Getting a Mounjaro program on the NHS
Mounjaro is available on the NHS, but access is being phased in over several years. NICE recommends it for adults with a BMI of at least 35 plus at least one weight-related condition, and the NHS primary-care rollout began in June 2025 with the highest-need groups first (initially BMI 40+ with four or more qualifying conditions).46 Full rollout is expected to take years, which is why many people who meet the licensed criteria choose regulated private treatment rather than waiting.
In practice, the NHS route starts with your GP or a referral into a specialist weight-management service. Ask whether you fall into a group currently being offered treatment. Because the rollout is phased, the answer can differ from practice to practice and may change over time.
If you are told you are not yet eligible, that does not mean the medicine is unsuitable for you; it reflects how the NHS is prioritising capacity. Some people wait, some use the time to improve diet and activity, and some choose a private pathway.
07 · Affordability schemes
Is there a Mounjaro affordability program?
There is no official, UK-wide Mounjaro affordability program that you can apply to. Savings cards and patient-assistance schemes you see advertised online are often designed for other countries, so check carefully that anything applies to UK patients before relying on it. Our guide to the Mounjaro patient assistance program looks at this in more detail.
A new customer gets £40 off their first order at any dose with code FIRST40, including people switching to us from another provider at a higher dose. After that, an automatic £25 reorder discount applies to every future order (code DOSE25). The standard price of one 4-week pen at the starting dose is £169.99, and your first 2.5mg pen costs £129.99 with the code. Switching at 15mg? Your first order is £289.99.
Costs rise with dose, so budgeting matters. If you step up after 4 weeks on each dose, your first four pens (2.5mg to 10mg) cost £959.96 at standard prices, before discounts. A first year costs £2,711.88 if you settle at 5mg, up to £3,599.88 at 15mg, again before the new-customer and reorder discounts. We offer Klarna and pay-monthly options, with no subscriptions. For comparisons across providers, see what is the cheapest GLP-1 program.
08 · Why the cost
Why is Mounjaro so expensive?
Mounjaro is a branded medicine, and its UK list price is set by the manufacturer.
Pharmacy sell prices vary because of confidential discounts. Across the UK pharmacies we track, the cheapest and dearest Mounjaro pens at any dose range from £143.96 to £339.00 per month (checked 10 October 2026), and the gap between providers for the same dose can be as small as £27 or as large as £41. Comparing before you commit is worthwhile.
09 · Affiliate programs
What about a Mounjaro affiliate program?
An affiliate program is a marketing arrangement in which websites earn a commission for referring customers; it is not a treatment pathway and has nothing to do with your care.
If you are reading a review site, check whether it discloses commercial links, and judge advice by whether it names a GPhC-registered pharmacy you can verify on the public register. Ours is GPhC 9012878.
Be especially wary of anyone promoting dramatic weight-loss claims alongside a referral link, or offering to supply without a consultation or prescription. Prescription medicines should only come after a clinical review.
10 · What to expect
What results can a program deliver?
In the SURMOUNT-1 trial of 2,539 adults, people taking tirzepatide alongside diet and exercise lost on average 15% of their body weight on 5mg, 19.5% on 10mg and 20.9% on 15mg over 72 weeks, compared with 3.1% with lifestyle changes alone.2 These are trial averages — individual results vary, and treatment works alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity, not instead of them.
For someone starting at 100 kg, 20.9% is about 21 kg. That is a worked example of arithmetic, not a forecast: trial averages do not predict your own result.
Results also depend on staying on treatment and on the habits you build. Our tirzepatide 3 month jump start program guide explains how people structure the early weeks.
11 · GP and prescribing
Can my GP prescribe tirzepatide?
Yes, a GP can prescribe tirzepatide through the NHS route where you meet the current criteria. Because availability is phased, some practices may not yet be offering it to everyone who qualifies on paper, and your GP may refer you to a specialist weight-management service instead.
If you go privately, a GPhC-registered prescriber reviews your online consultation. You do not need a GP referral to start, though sharing your treatment with your GP is sensible, particularly if you take other medicines. Insulin or sulfonylurea doses may need adjusting because of low blood sugar risk, so tell your prescriber about them.
12 · Safety basics
What to avoid while taking Mounjaro
The safest approach is to treat the pen as a prescription medicine and follow your prescriber and the patient information leaflet.13 Do not use leftover pens from another person, do not buy from sellers who skip a consultation, and do not change your dose without clinical advice.
Store pens in the fridge at 2–8°C until first use. Once in use, a pen can be kept out of the fridge at a temperature not above 30°C for up to 30 days after first use, and must then be thrown away. Do not use a pen that has been above 30°C or has been frozen. Tell your prescriber about oral contraception: the medicine can reduce absorption of oral contraceptives because stomach emptying slows.7 The SmPC advises switching to a non-oral method, or adding a barrier method (such as condoms), for 4 weeks after starting Mounjaro and for 4 weeks after each dose increase.1
Report any side effect through the Yellow Card scheme, and tell your prescriber about new symptoms rather than waiting.19
13 · Online buzz
Ozempic teeth, breasts, smell and celebrity stories
Phrases such as “Ozempic teeth” and “Ozempic breasts” are informal media terms, not medical diagnoses, and they are not listed as side effects in the UK Mounjaro patient leaflet. Likewise, a noticeable smell is not listed as a side effect in the UK patient leaflet; tell your prescriber about any new or lasting symptom. If you notice any change in your mouth, body or health, discuss it with your prescriber and report it through the Yellow Card scheme.19
We do not comment on why individual public figures start or stop a treatment. Their reasons are personal and may not apply to you. Your own plan should rest on your assessment, your goals and your clinician's advice.
14 · Versus semaglutide
Mounjaro or semaglutide: which is better?
Neither is better for everyone; both are licensed medicines and the right choice depends on you. Mounjaro activates two gut-hormone receptors, GIP and GLP-1, unlike single-action GLP-1 medicines such as semaglutide (Wegovy).1
Wegovy pens are 0.25mg, 0.5mg, 1mg, 1.7mg and 2.4mg once weekly, stepping up after at least four weeks to the 2.4mg maintenance dose from week 17. Mounjaro's ladder runs 2.5mg to 15mg. Your prescriber can help you decide, and our overview of a GLP-1 program and the tirzepatide online program explain the options side by side.
15 · Serious side effects
Serious side effects: when to get help straight away
Serious side effects are uncommon but need urgent attention. Seek immediate medical help for: severe, persistent stomach pain that may spread to your back, with or without vomiting (possible pancreatitis); pain in the upper right abdomen, fever or yellowing of skin/eyes (possible gallbladder problems); or signs of a severe allergic reaction such as swelling of the face or throat and difficulty breathing. If you take insulin or a sulfonylurea alongside Mounjaro, watch for low blood sugar (shakiness, sweating, confusion) — your prescriber may need to adjust those medicines.1
How ordering works
How ordering works at EverydayMeds
Three steps, with our pharmacy team alongside you.
Step 1: Online consultation — 5–10 minutes
Complete a confidential health questionnaire covering BMI, medical history and current medication. No payment is taken until you're approved.
Step 2: Prescriber review — usually same day
A UK registered prescriber checks your suitability against the licensed criteria (BMI ≥30, or ≥27 with a weight-related condition) and contraindications, and confirms your starting dose.
Step 3: Next-day tracked delivery
Dispensed by our GPhC-registered pharmacy in temperature-controlled packaging with needles and a sharps bin included. Orders approved by 3pm for next-day tracked delivery.
Prescription and dispatch follow clinical approval. Confirm current delivery options when ordering.
Afterwards you're not on your own: dose-change reviews are built in before each step up, our pharmacist team is available for side-effect questions, and repeat orders re-check suitability rather than auto-shipping.
