• Light protection: the pen cap should stay on, and an opaque case adds a second layer.
• Temperature: insulation helps in heat, but a case must never press the pen against ice, because pens must never be frozen.
• Space: room for needles, swabs and your prescription label is useful.
• Cleanliness: choose a wipeable inside, and never store used needles loose in it.

Keep Mounjaro pens in a fridge at 2–8°C and never freeze them.¹ Once in use, a pen can be kept out of the fridge at a temperature not above 30°C for up to 30 days after first use — useful for short trips — and must then be thrown away.¹ Keep the pen cap on to protect it from light, and do not use a pen that has been above 30°C or has been frozen.¹³

So a case is for short-term carrying. It does not replace the fridge for unopened pens, which keep until the expiry date printed on the box.
