What to know
before you start.

  • Pale stool is not a listed side effect in the Mounjaro SmPC or patient leaflet.
  • Do not assume it is harmless: a persistent change in stool colour deserves a medical check.
  • Get medical help straight away if pale stool comes with yellow skin or eyes, dark urine or severe abdominal pain.
  • Tell your prescriber about new symptoms and report suspected side effects through the Yellow Card scheme.
  • Do not change or stop your treatment on your own; speak to your prescriber first.
In this guide

01 · The core answer

Is pale stool caused by Mounjaro?

Pale stool is not a listed side effect of Mounjaro in the SmPC or patient information leaflet.113

Other bowel changes are covered in our guides to hard stool on Mounjaro, loose stool and oily stool.

02 · Your next step

What should you do if your stool is pale?

Note when it started, whether it is repeated, and any other symptoms, then contact your prescriber or GP. If it comes with yellowing of the skin or eyes, dark urine or severe abdominal pain, get medical help straight away. If you are an EverydayMeds patient, our prescribing team supports side-effect questions as part of ongoing monthly reviews. You can read more on the Mounjaro pen page or in our weight loss clinic guide.

03 · Warning signs

Warning signs that need urgent help

Get medical help straight away if pale stool comes with yellowing of the skin or the whites of the eyes, dark urine, fever, ongoing vomiting or severe abdominal pain, particularly pain that spreads to the back. These combinations point away from a harmless explanation and towards a problem that needs an in-person assessment.

Do not wait for a routine appointment if you feel unwell. For severe symptoms, get medical help straight away: contact NHS 111, a GP urgently, or emergency services. Mention that you take Mounjaro so the clinician has the full picture.

04 · Other causes

Other reasons stool can look pale

Stool colour can change for many reasons that have nothing to do with a weight-loss injection, including diet, other medicines and conditions affecting the liver, gallbladder or pancreas. Because the cause cannot be judged from a photo or a description alone, a clinician should decide, especially if the change lasts more than a short time.

If you also notice other changes, our guides on bloody stool and mucus in stool explain what to report. Pale, oily stool can also be linked to other weight-loss treatments, as in our orlistat stool changes guide.

05 · Reporting and stopping

Reporting it and what happens if you stop

You can report any suspected side effect through the MHRA Yellow Card scheme, even if you are unsure the medicine is responsible.19 Reports help regulators spot patterns.

Please speak to your prescriber before skipping or stopping doses. Be aware that tirzepatide takes roughly four to five weeks to clear the system after a final dose, so stopping does not give an instant answer about cause.1 A medical check is the quicker route to clarity.

06 · Serious side effects

Serious side effects: when to get help straight away

Serious side effects are uncommon but need urgent attention. Seek immediate medical help for: severe, persistent stomach pain that may spread to your back, with or without vomiting (possible pancreatitis); pain in the upper right abdomen, fever or yellowing of skin/eyes (possible gallbladder problems); or signs of a severe allergic reaction such as swelling of the face or throat and difficulty breathing. If you take insulin or a sulfonylurea alongside Mounjaro, watch for low blood sugar (shakiness, sweating, confusion) — your prescriber may need to adjust those medicines.1

How ordering works

How ordering works at EverydayMeds

Three steps, with our pharmacy team alongside you.

  1. EverydayMeds online consultation on a mobile phone

    Step 1: Online consultation — 5–10 minutes

Complete a confidential health questionnaire covering BMI, medical history and current medication. No payment is taken until you're approved.

  2. A clinician ready to review an online consultation

Step 2: Prescriber review — usually same day

A UK registered prescriber checks your suitability against the licensed criteria (BMI ≥30, or ≥27 with a weight-related condition) and contraindications, and confirms your starting dose.

  3. An EverydayMeds delivery box

    Step 3: Next-day tracked delivery

Dispensed by our GPhC-registered pharmacy in temperature-controlled packaging with needles and a sharps bin included. Orders approved by 3pm for next-day tracked delivery.

Start your free consultation

Prescription and dispatch follow clinical approval. Confirm current delivery options when ordering.

Afterwards you're not on your own: dose-change reviews are built in before each step up, our pharmacist team is available for side-effect questions, and repeat orders re-check suitability rather than auto-shipping.

Your questions, answered

Mounjaro price UK — frequently asked questions

Answers to common questions about Mounjaro prices, NHS access and ongoing treatment.

Ask our pharmacy team
Does Mounjaro change stool colour?
Stool colour change is not a listed side effect of Mounjaro in the SmPC or patient leaflet. If your stool turns pale or clay-coloured and stays that way, tell your prescriber or GP rather than assuming the injection is responsible.
Why is my poop suddenly very pale?
There are several possible reasons, including diet, other medicines and conditions affecting the liver, gallbladder or pancreas. It cannot be diagnosed from a description alone. If it persists, get it checked by a clinician. If it comes with yellow skin or eyes, dark urine or abdominal pain, get medical help straight away.
What medications cause pale poop?
Mounjaro is not known to cause pale stool, as it is not a listed side effect. Several other medicines can alter stool colour, so check each patient leaflet and ask a pharmacist or GP to review everything you take if the change persists.
How many days of pale poop is normal?
There is no set number of days that is safe to wait. One unusual stool is often nothing, but a repeated or lasting pale colour should be checked by a clinician. Get medical help straight away if it comes with yellowing, dark urine, fever or severe pain.
Does pancreatitis cause pale poop?
Severe, persistent stomach pain that may spread to your back, with or without vomiting, could be pancreatitis, so get medical help straight away. Stop using Mounjaro, get medical help straight away and tell the clinician which medicine you take.
What are the signs your pancreas is struggling?
Severe or persistent upper abdominal pain, especially pain spreading to the back, with ongoing nausea or vomiting, needs medical help straight away. Do not try to self-diagnose. Contact NHS 111, your GP or emergency services, and mention your Mounjaro treatment.
Should I stop Mounjaro if my stool is pale?
Speak to your prescriber first, and seek urgent help if you have serious symptoms. Stopping on your own will not quickly show whether the medicine is involved, because tirzepatide takes about four to five weeks to clear. A clinician can advise on the safest next step.
