A quick overview

What to know
before you start.

  • Mounjaro is prescription-only, so "no doctor" really means "no GP appointment", not "no clinical review".
  • A GPhC-registered prescriber reviews every online consultation; unsuitable orders are refunded automatically.
  • Sellers offering Mounjaro with no consultation or prescription are a safety and counterfeit risk.
  • Your GP does not need to be the route in: private online prescribing is a lawful alternative.
  • NHS access is being phased in over several years, which is why many people go private.
In this guide

01 · The core answer

Can you get Mounjaro without seeing a doctor?

You can get Mounjaro without seeing your own GP, but not without a prescriber. Mounjaro (tirzepatide) is a prescription-only medicine, supplied only after an online consultation reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber.1

The difference matters. A private online service asks you to complete a health questionnaire, and a prescriber reads it and decides whether the medicine is suitable. That is a genuine clinical decision, not a box-ticking script. If you are not suitable, you are not supplied.

Regulated UK online pharmacyYes, remote review by a GPhC-registered prescriberYes
Social media, marketplace or "research chemical" sellerNoNo: unlawful supply and counterfeit risk

02 · Your next step

What should you do if you want to avoid a GP appointment?

Use a regulated online pharmacy and check its registration on the GPhC register before sharing any health information.12 Our registration number is GPhC 9012878.

The process is short. If you want the full picture of how this works, see our guide to GLP-1 treatment without a doctor visit. You can also start from the Mounjaro pen page, where current prices are shown.

03 · Why it is prescription-only

Why Mounjaro is prescription-only

Mounjaro is the brand name for tirzepatide, a once-weekly injectable prescription medicine made by Eli Lilly. In the UK it is licensed for weight management in adults and for type 2 diabetes.1 It comes as a pre-filled multi-dose pen (KwikPen) in six strengths: 2.5mg, 5mg, 7.5mg, 10mg, 12.5mg and 15mg.

Tirzepatide is the first treatment of its kind to activate two natural gut-hormone receptors at once: GIP and GLP-1. Together these help regulate appetite, slow how quickly the stomach empties, and improve the way the body responds to insulin.1 A medicine that acts on the body this way needs someone qualified to check your medical history, your current medicines and whether it suits you.

That is why the law keeps a prescriber in the loop, and why it is not something to work around.

04 · Risks of no-consultation sellers

The risks of sellers who skip the consultation

Anyone offering to supply Mounjaro without a consultation or prescription is operating outside UK law, and you have no way of knowing what is in the pen. The MHRA publishes counterfeit medicine alerts for exactly this reason.7

Warning signs include:

  • No health questionnaire, or one that cannot lead to a refusal
  • Dramatic weight-loss claims or promises of specific results
  • Payment by transfer or through social media messages
  • No pharmacy registration you can look up
  • Unusually low prices or vials and "kits" rather than licensed pens

If you have already used a product and feel unwell, speak to a clinician and report side effects through the Yellow Card scheme.19 For urgent symptoms, our guide on when to call a doctor on Mounjaro explains what to do.

05 · NHS versus private

NHS or private: the honest picture

Mounjaro is available on the NHS, but access is being phased in over several years. NICE recommends it for adults with a BMI of at least 35 plus at least one weight-related condition, and the NHS primary-care rollout began in June 2025 with the highest-need groups first (initially BMI 40+ with four or more qualifying conditions).4

Full rollout is expected to take years, which is why many people who meet the licensed criteria choose regulated private treatment rather than waiting.6 If you are unsure whether you qualify on the NHS, ask your GP; if you prefer private, a regulated online service avoids the appointment but not the clinical review.

06 · What a review looks like

What an online prescriber review involves

A good online review is a real clinical assessment carried out remotely. You answer a short health questionnaire, free of charge and with no obligation, and a GPhC-registered prescriber reviews it. If the prescriber decides the treatment is not suitable, the order is refunded automatically in full.

If approved, the medicine is dispensed by our registered pharmacy. Orders placed by 3pm are dispatched the same day, with free next-day tracked delivery in discreet, temperature-controlled packaging. Needles, a sharps bin and injection guidance come with every order.

Treatment is used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity. Ongoing monthly reviews, dose titration and side-effect support are part of the service, and repeat orders re-check suitability, so nothing ships automatically. Your first 2.5mg pen costs £129.99 with code FIRST40 (standard price £169.99).

07 · What to expect from treatment

What results look like, honestly

In the SURMOUNT-1 trial of 2,539 adults, people taking tirzepatide alongside diet and exercise lost on average 15% of their body weight on 5mg, 19.5% on 10mg and 20.9% on 15mg over 72 weeks, compared with 3.1% with lifestyle changes alone.2 These are trial averages, and individual results vary. Treatment works alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity, not instead of them.

If your own progress stalls, see what to do when there is no weight loss on Mounjaro. If an injection is a sticking point, weight loss without injections covers the alternatives, and our weight loss clinic gives the wider view.

08 · Serious side effects

Serious side effects: when to get help straight away

Serious side effects are uncommon but need urgent attention. Seek immediate medical help for: severe, persistent stomach pain that may spread to your back, with or without vomiting (possible pancreatitis); pain in the upper right abdomen, fever or yellowing of skin/eyes (possible gallbladder problems); or signs of a severe allergic reaction such as swelling of the face or throat and difficulty breathing. If you take insulin or a sulfonylurea alongside Mounjaro, watch for low blood sugar (shakiness, sweating, confusion) — your prescriber may need to adjust those medicines.1

How ordering works

How ordering works at EverydayMeds

Three steps, with our pharmacy team alongside you.

  1. EverydayMeds online consultation on a mobile phone

    Step 1: Online consultation — 5–10 minutes

Complete a confidential health questionnaire covering BMI, medical history and current medication. No payment is taken until you're approved.

  2. A clinician ready to review an online consultation

Step 2: Prescriber review — usually same day

A UK registered prescriber checks your suitability against the licensed criteria (BMI ≥30, or ≥27 with a weight-related condition) and contraindications, and confirms your starting dose.

  3. An EverydayMeds delivery box

    Step 3: Next-day tracked delivery

Dispensed by our GPhC-registered pharmacy in temperature-controlled packaging with needles and a sharps bin included. Orders approved by 3pm for next-day tracked delivery.

Start your free consultation

Prescription and dispatch follow clinical approval. Confirm current delivery options when ordering.

Afterwards you're not on your own: dose-change reviews are built in before each step up, our pharmacist team is available for side-effect questions, and repeat orders re-check suitability rather than auto-shipping.

Your questions, answered

Mounjaro price UK — frequently asked questions

Answers to common questions about Mounjaro prices, NHS access and ongoing treatment.

Ask our pharmacy team
Can I get Mounjaro without seeing a doctor in the UK?
Not without a prescriber. Mounjaro is prescription-only, so a clinician must assess you. You can avoid your own GP by using a regulated online pharmacy, where a GPhC-registered prescriber reviews your free consultation. Anyone offering to supply without a consultation or prescription is acting unlawfully and risks selling counterfeit product.
What is known as the "poor man's Ozempic"?
The phrase is a social media nickname for low-cost supplements such as berberine, which are available cheaply without assessment. It is marketing, not a clinical description. Supplements have no clinical oversight and are not equivalent to licensed GLP-1 medicines, and dosing is not standardised. Be cautious of dramatic weight-loss claims.
Do I need to tell my GP if I use a private online prescriber?
It is sensible to tell your GP about any medicine you take, as it helps them look after your overall health and avoid interactions. You do not need a GP appointment to start private treatment, but sharing the information supports safer, joined-up care.
