A GPhC-registered pharmacy and a prescriber review matter more than a small price gap.

01 · The price picture
What does cheaper Mounjaro actually cost in the UK?
Cheaper Mounjaro in the UK means choosing a verified pharmacy with transparent pricing, using the discounts that apply, and matching your dose to what your prescriber judges right. Our own price index of the UK pharmacies we track (checked 10 October 2026) shows 2.5mg starting pens from £143.96 to £179.99 per month. Across all doses and providers, pens run from £143.96 to £339.00 per month.
At EverydayMeds the standard price of the 2.5mg Mounjaro pen is £169.99 for four weeks. A new customer gets £40 off a first order at any dose with code FIRST40, so your first 2.5mg pen costs £129.99. Switching to us at 15mg? Your first order is £289.99. After that, an automatic £25 reorder discount applies to every future order (code DOSE25), so every later order is £25 off the standard price.
Consultation is free, and the price shown is the price paid, with no hidden fees. Delivery is free and next-day, tracked and temperature-controlled. Saturday delivery costs £14.99. Because we do not run a subscription, you can stop or pause whenever your prescriber agrees it is appropriate.
02 · Plan the whole course
What does a year of Mounjaro cost, and where can you save?
The monthly pen price rises with the dose, so the dose your prescriber settles you on affects the total cost of a year. The year totals and monthly prices in the table are standard prices before any discount. A new customer's first order is £40 less and every later order is £25 less.
| Stage | Pens | Standard cost |
|---|---|---|
| First year if you settle at 5mg | 13 pens | £2,711.88 |
| First year if you settle at 15mg | 13 pens | £3,599.88 |
| Settling at 7.5mg | 1 pen per month | £279.99 per month |
| Settling at 10mg | 1 pen per month | £290.99 per month |
| Settling at 12.5mg | 1 pen per month | £319.99 per month |
Monthly pen prices rise with dose: £218.99 at 5mg, £290.99 at 10mg and £329.99 at 15mg. Your prescriber, not the price list, decides which dose suits you.
Where cost is the worry, tell the prescribing team during your monthly review. Our monthly cost guide walks through the same options in more detail.
03 · Getting started
How do you order from a registered UK pharmacy?
Payment is taken when you place the order; if the prescriber decides the treatment is not suitable, the order is refunded automatically in full. EverydayMeds is a GPhC-registered UK online pharmacy (registration 9012878), and you can check it on the GPhC register.
- Free online consultation: a short health questionnaire, no charge and no obligation.
- Prescriber review: reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber, not a scoring script. Unsuitable orders are refunded automatically.
- Dispensing and delivery: dispensed by our registered pharmacy, with same-day dispatch when ordered by 3pm and free next-day tracked delivery.
All six doses are in stock, supplied through official LillyDirect supply direct from Eli Lilly's UK distribution. Klarna and pay-monthly options are available, and repeat orders re-check suitability, so nothing is auto-shipped. Ready to start? Begin with the Mounjaro consultation.
04 · Price comparison across pharmacies
Mounjaro price comparison: how far apart are UK pharmacies?
Prices for the same Mounjaro dose differ between providers by £27 at the smallest gap and £41 at the largest, across the UK pharmacies we track. That spread is the real reason shopping around matters.
First, compare the same dose. A 2.5mg starting pen and a 15mg pen are very different products, and the gap between them is large. Our index shows 2.5mg starting pens from £143.96 to £179.99 per month, while the full range across every dose is £143.96 to £339.00. Boots, as one well-known high-street name, lists Mounjaro doses from £179.00 to £339.00 per month.
Second, compare what the headline includes. A low advertised price can sit beside delivery charges, consultation fees or a requirement to buy several pens. Our price is the price paid: the consultation is free, delivery is free next-day tracked, and there are no hidden fees. Ask any provider the same questions before you pay.
Third, check the date. Pharmacy prices change, and a comparison article from months ago may no longer be right. Our figures are checked and dated: the index was last checked 10 October 2026 and our own prices on 10 October 2026. If a page does not show when it was checked, treat its numbers with caution.
Fourth, think about the price you will pay month after month, not only the first order. A first-order offer helps, but the ongoing cost depends on the standard price at your dose and any reorder discount. At EverydayMeds, new customers save £40 on their first order with code FIRST40, and every later order is £25 off the standard price.
Finally, price is only one factor. The pharmacy should be on the GPhC register, supply genuine pens, include a clinical review and give you somewhere to turn with questions. Our support team is available Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, by email at support@everydaymeds.co.uk, through the account portal chat or by phone on 0333 207 0413. A saving of a few pounds is not worth losing that. If you want to see how our figures sit against a specific provider, our cheaper alternative to Mounjaro guide sets the options side by side.
05 · Why prices changed
Why did Mounjaro prices change, and will they fall?
Mounjaro pen prices rose in the UK because Eli Lilly raised its list price.
Pharmacy sell prices do not simply copy the list price. Pharmacies receive confidential discounts, which is why the same dose can be priced differently by different providers.
We cannot predict future pricing, so we would not tell you to wait on the strength of a rumour.
We do not publish separate regional pricing here, so check the price shown for your order before you pay.
If you are a person with type 2 diabetes, you may also wonder whether a diabetes prescription changes the cost. That is a different question from private weight-management pricing, and our page on whether diabetics get Mounjaro cheaper goes through it.
The practical advice is simple. Use the live prices and discounts available today, choose a dose with your prescriber rather than for price alone, and review the plan at each monthly check-in. If prices move later, you will see it on the live figures, and our no-subscription model means you are not locked into anything.
06 · Safe ways to spend less
How can you save money on Mounjaro safely?
The safe ways to lower your Mounjaro cost are using every legitimate discount, comparing like-for-like prices, and agreeing a dose plan with your prescriber.
1. Use the discounts that apply. A new customer gets £40 off a first order at any dose, including people switching from another provider at a higher dose, with code FIRST40. After that, every future order is £25 off automatically (code DOSE25).
2. Compare like for like. Check the same dose, the delivery cost, any consultation fee and the date the price was checked. Our index covers the UK pharmacies we track, and the gap between providers for the same dose can be wide.
3. Start where licensing says to. The starting pen is 2.5mg, at £169.99 standard, and your first one costs £129.99 with the new-customer code. Doses step up under prescriber supervision, at least 4 weeks on each dose depending on how you respond. The starting dose is also the lowest monthly pen price.
4. Let your prescriber decide your dose. Your prescriber, not the price list, decides which dose suits you.
5. Spread the payment. Klarna and pay-monthly options are available, with no subscriptions. This does not lower the total, but it can make the monthly outlay easier to manage.
6. Talk to the clinical team at review. Ongoing monthly reviews, dose-titration and follow-up assessments are included. If cost is the pressure point, say so.
You may also find our weight loss clinic page useful for the wider support around the medicine, including diet and activity.
07 · Shortcuts to avoid
Which Mounjaro money-saving shortcuts are unsafe?
Unsafe shortcuts include buying from unverified sellers and mixing medicines; talk to your clinical team rather than self-adjusting.
Each Mounjaro KwikPen is designed and licensed to deliver exactly four weekly doses. Use the pen as designed, then dispose of it. A sharps bin and injection guidance come with every order.
Unverified sellers. The MHRA has seized thousands of fake weight-loss pens in the UK and has issued alerts after falsified Mounjaro pens were identified.7 Fake pens have caused hospitalisations, and some contained insulin rather than tirzepatide. Only buy from a pharmacy you can verify on the GPhC register, never from social media, beauty salons or unverified websites. Genuine treatment always involves a prescription and a clinical consultation. A seller offering to supply without a consultation or prescription is a red flag, however low the price.
Mixing medicines. Mounjaro must not be combined with other GLP-1 medicines, unlicensed research peptides such as retatrutide (which has no UK licence), or compounded copies. These combinations have no safety data and no regulated supply chain. If something promises faster results outside a licensed pathway, that is the warning sign.
What a genuine pen looks like. A genuine UK pen comes from a registered pharmacy with a batch number and expiry date, arrives cold-chain packaged, and the solution inside is clear and colourless. Do not use a pen that has been frozen, looks cloudy or discoloured, has particles in it, is past its expiry, has been above 30°C, or has been in use out of the fridge for more than 30 days. If supply or packaging ever seems wrong, check the pharmacy on the GPhC register and contact the pharmacy before injecting.
Genuine UK stock is supplied through Lilly's official distribution to licensed pharmacies, and every pen carries a batch number and expiry date that can be checked.
08 · Cheaper alternatives
What are the cheaper alternatives to Mounjaro?
The alternatives to Mounjaro are other licensed medicines, not cheaper versions of it, and each has its own eligibility checks, dosing and evidence.
Wegovy (semaglutide 2.4mg). Wegovy is a licensed weight-management injection. Its pens are 0.25mg, 0.5mg, 1mg, 1.7mg and 2.4mg once weekly, stepping up after at least 4 weeks to reach the 2.4mg maintenance dose from week 17. In SURMOUNT-5, the first large head-to-head trial, adults on tirzepatide lost on average 20.2% of body weight over 72 weeks versus 13.7% on semaglutide 2.4mg.15 Both are effective, licensed treatments, and which suits you depends on your health profile, tolerance and prescriber advice, not the headline number alone. Your first Wegovy pen costs £99.99 on a first order; see the Wegovy pen page for current prices.
Ozempic. Ozempic is semaglutide licensed for type 2 diabetes, not a UK weight-loss medicine, so prescribing it privately for weight loss is off-label. A regulated UK pharmacy will not supply Ozempic for weight loss. For weight loss, the real comparison is Mounjaro against Wegovy. Our page on whether Mounjaro or Ozempic is cheaper explains this.
GLP-1 tablets. There is no tablet form of Mounjaro, and tirzepatide is injection-only in the UK. Two GLP-1 weight-loss tablets are now licensed: Wegovy tablets (oral semaglutide), approved by the MHRA in June 2026, and Foundayo (orforglipron, made by Eli Lilly), approved in August 2026. They are different medicines with their own dosing, eligibility checks and trial results, and both are prescription-only.
Other licensed options. Orlistat is a tablet that blocks some dietary fat absorption and produces smaller average losses. Saxenda (liraglutide) is a daily injection, supplied at 6mg per millilitre, unlike the once-weekly Mounjaro and Wegovy.
Supplements. So-called natural GLP-1 supplements such as berberine are low-cost supplements with no clinical oversight. They are not medicines, are not regulated for this use and have no comparable trial evidence. Dosing is not standardised. Dramatic weight-loss claims on such products are a reason for caution.
Is tirzepatide itself cheaper? Tirzepatide is the active ingredient in Mounjaro, so there is no separate cheaper tirzepatide product from a regulated UK pharmacy. Compounded copies are not an option, as they have no regulated supply chain. Our page on whether tirzepatide is cheaper than Mounjaro covers this, as does the page on the cheaper version of Mounjaro question.
09 · NHS versus private
Is Mounjaro cheaper on the NHS than privately?
Mounjaro is available on the NHS, but access is being phased in over several years, so many people who meet the licensed criteria choose regulated private treatment rather than waiting.4 NICE recommends it for adults with a BMI of at least 35 plus at least one weight-related condition. The NHS primary-care rollout began in June 2025 with the highest-need groups first, initially BMI 40+ with four or more qualifying conditions.6 Full rollout is expected to take years.
If you qualify for NHS treatment, your GP or local service is the first place to ask. The NHS prescription charge in England is £9.90 per item for those who pay, though what applies to you depends on your circumstances, and exemptions exist. Speak to your GP to find out where you sit in the phased rollout.
Private treatment suits people who do not yet meet NHS criteria or who prefer not to wait. Private prescribing follows the licence, which is wider than the NHS criteria. Mounjaro is licensed for weight management in adults with a BMI of 30 or above, or a BMI between 27 and 30 with at least one weight-related condition such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, obstructive sleep apnoea, cardiovascular disease, prediabetes or type 2 diabetes. It must be used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity. A prescriber will assess your BMI, medical history and current medicines before deciding whether it is suitable for you.
What does the private route involve? A free online consultation, a review by a GPhC-registered prescriber, and ongoing monthly reviews, dose-titration and follow-up assessments. Payment is taken when you place the order; if the prescriber decides the treatment is not suitable, the order is refunded automatically in full. That means the cost question only arises once a prescriber has said treatment is appropriate for you.
For some people the sensible plan is to check NHS eligibility first, then decide whether to pay privately in the meantime. There is no contradiction in asking your GP about the NHS pathway while using a regulated pharmacy. Whichever route you take, make sure the supplier is verifiable on the GPhC register and that a prescriber has reviewed you. Never accept a route that skips the consultation.
For our own pricing, a new customer gets £40 off a first order with code FIRST40, and each later order is £25 off the standard price. See the weight loss clinic for the wider service.
10 · Value for money
Is Mounjaro good value for what it does?
Whether Mounjaro is good value depends on how you respond and what you are aiming for, and trial averages do not predict your own result. That context helps you weigh the monthly cost against the likely benefit.
In the SURMOUNT-1 trial of 2,539 adults, people taking tirzepatide alongside diet and exercise lost on average 15% of their body weight on 5mg, 19.5% on 10mg and 20.9% on 15mg over 72 weeks, compared with 3.1% with lifestyle changes alone.2 These are trial averages and individual results vary. As a worked example, for someone starting at 100 kg, 20.9% is about 21 kg.
At 72 weeks, 85% of participants on 5mg, 89% on 10mg and 91% on 15mg had lost at least 5% of their body weight. Half of participants on 10mg and 57% on 15mg lost at least 20% of their body weight.2
In SURMOUNT-5, 751 adults took tirzepatide or semaglutide 2.4mg for 72 weeks. At least 10% of body weight was lost by 81.6% on tirzepatide against 60.5% on semaglutide, and average loss was 22.8 kg against 15.0 kg.15 Both medicines are effective, licensed treatments.
How does Mounjaro work? Tirzepatide is the first treatment of its kind to activate two natural gut-hormone receptors at once: GIP and GLP-1.1 Together these help regulate appetite, slow how quickly the stomach empties, and improve the way the body responds to insulin. Most people feel fuller sooner and less hungry between meals, which supports a reduced-calorie diet. This dual action distinguishes it from single-action medicines such as semaglutide.
Tirzepatide has a half-life of about five days, so after a final dose it takes roughly 4–5 weeks to clear the system.
Support is part of the value too: 100,000+ customers have been supported on their weight loss journey with us, and the free GLPTrackr companion app helps you track yours on iOS and Android.
11 · Safety and who should not
Who is Mounjaro suitable for, and what should you check?
Mounjaro is suitable only after a prescriber has assessed your BMI, medical history and current medicines, and price should never override that assessment. It is a prescription-only medicine, supplied only after an online consultation reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber. It is used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity, and individual results vary.
Mounjaro is licensed for weight management in adults with a BMI of 30 or above, or between 27 and 30 with at least one weight-related condition. If you are unsure whether you fit, the free consultation is the place to find out, with no charge and no obligation. If you are not suitable, the order is refunded automatically in full.
Mounjaro is not suitable for everyone. You should not take it if you are allergic to tirzepatide or any of its ingredients, and it should not be used during pregnancy or while trying to conceive. Your prescriber will take extra care, or may recommend against treatment, if you have a history of pancreatitis, severe gut or digestive disease, diabetic retinopathy, or gallbladder problems. Always share your full medical history and medicine list during consultation. Mounjaro must not be used during pregnancy, and it should be stopped at least one month before trying to conceive. If you become pregnant during treatment, stop the medicine and tell your prescriber promptly. Mounjaro slows stomach emptying, which can reduce how well oral contraceptive pills are absorbed. The SmPC advises switching to a non-oral method, or adding a barrier method (such as condoms), for 4 weeks after starting Mounjaro and for 4 weeks after each dose increase.1 If you take insulin or sulfonylureas, doses may need adjusting because of the risk of low blood sugar, which your prescriber will manage.
If you notice a new symptom after starting, discuss it with your prescriber and report it through the MHRA Yellow Card scheme. Do not self-adjust your dose to save money or manage a side effect. Serious side effects are uncommon but need urgent attention. Seek immediate medical help for: severe, persistent stomach pain that may spread to your back, with or without vomiting (possible pancreatitis); pain in the upper right abdomen, fever or yellowing of skin/eyes (possible gallbladder problems); or signs of a severe allergic reaction such as swelling of the face or throat and difficulty breathing.
Switching from another medicine also needs care. There is no licensed direct conversion between semaglutide and tirzepatide. Switching is done under prescriber supervision: typically the previous medicine is stopped, a washout interval observed, and Mounjaro started at a dose your prescriber judges appropriate, often the 2.5mg starting dose, sometimes adjusted based on your history. Never run two GLP-1 medicines together. A new customer who switches to us at a higher dose still gets £40 off the first order with code FIRST40.
Storage matters for value as well, since a spoiled pen is wasted money. Store unopened pens in the fridge until first use, and they keep until the printed expiry date. Once in use, a KwikPen can be kept out of the fridge at a temperature not above 30°C for up to 30 days after first use, and must then be thrown away. For any question about an unopened pen that has been out of the fridge, check the patient information leaflet and contact the pharmacy. Our delivery uses temperature-controlled packaging so the pen arrives properly cold-chain packed.
To summarise: compare like for like, use the discounts, and keep the clinical side in the hands of a registered prescriber. That is how you pay less without paying in safety.
How ordering works
How ordering works at EverydayMeds
Three steps, with our pharmacy team alongside you.
Step 1: Online consultation — 5–10 minutes
Complete a confidential health questionnaire covering BMI, medical history and current medication. No payment is taken until you're approved.
Step 2: Prescriber review — usually same day
A UK registered prescriber checks your suitability against the licensed criteria (BMI ≥30, or ≥27 with a weight-related condition) and contraindications, and confirms your starting dose.
Step 3: Next-day tracked delivery
Dispensed by our GPhC-registered pharmacy in temperature-controlled packaging with needles and a sharps bin included. Orders approved by 3pm for next-day tracked delivery.
Prescription and dispatch follow clinical approval. Confirm current delivery options when ordering.
Afterwards you're not on your own: dose-change reviews are built in before each step up, our pharmacist team is available for side-effect questions, and repeat orders re-check suitability rather than auto-shipping.
