01 · The short answer
Is Mounjaro available in the UK right now?
Yes. Mounjaro is a licensed prescription medicine in the UK, and you can reach it through two routes: NHS services, where access is phased, and private pharmacies, where access depends on a consultation. Which route suits you depends on your health criteria, how long you are prepared to wait and what you want to pay.
For the NHS, the position is that Mounjaro is available on the NHS, but access is being phased in over several years.4 That means being eligible on paper does not always mean you can start straight away. Your GP practice or local weight-management service will tell you where you sit in the queue.
For private supply, availability is a practical question about whether the pharmacy holds the strength you need. Our live Mounjaro stock position is always reflected on the product page, and as of October 2026 all six doses are in stock. We source Mounjaro directly from Eli Lilly's UK distribution through official LillyDirect supply, so you receive genuine KwikPens.
02 · Your decision
NHS or private: which route fits you?
Choose the NHS route if you meet the clinical criteria and are comfortable waiting for your local service to reach your group. Choose private treatment if you would rather begin sooner, are outside the NHS criteria but are licensed for treatment, or want regular scheduled follow-up built into the service.
Neither route is wrong. The medicine is the same tirzepatide in the same KwikPen. The differences are who pays, how soon you can begin and how follow-up is organised.
| Question | NHS route | Private route |
|---|---|---|
| Who can start? | Adults meeting NICE criteria, in the order the rollout reaches them | Adults suitable for the licence, after a consultation reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber |
| How quickly? | Depends on local rollout and your group | Subject to prescriber approval; same-day dispatch when ordered by 3pm |
| Cost to you | Usual NHS prescription charge of £9.90 in England, where it applies | The pen price: £169.99 at the starting dose, standard price |
| Follow-up | Through your GP or a specialist service | Monthly reviews and dose-titration support from our prescribing team |
| Delivery | Collected from a pharmacy | Free next-day tracked delivery in temperature-controlled packaging |
On private pricing, your first 2.5mg pen costs £129.99 with code FIRST40 (standard price £169.99). Every later order is £25 off the standard price through an automatic reorder discount (code DOSE25). Higher doses are priced per pen, for example £218.99 for 5mg.
03 · Next step
What to do next
Start by checking whether you meet the licensed criteria and whether your GP practice is offering treatment yet. If you would rather not wait, you can complete our free online consultation, which carries no obligation. Payment is taken when you place the order; if the prescriber decides the treatment is not suitable, the order is refunded automatically in full.
If you want to compare the broader range of options first, our weight loss clinic explains the treatments we offer. When you are ready to see current doses and prices, the Mounjaro pen prices and consultation page has everything live. If you prefer to speak to a person, support runs Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.
04 · NHS availability
Mounjaro availability on the NHS
Mounjaro is available on the NHS, but access is being phased in over several years.4
NICE recommends it for adults with a BMI of at least 35 plus at least one weight-related condition, and the NHS primary-care rollout began in June 2025 with the highest-need groups first (initially BMI 40+ with four or more qualifying conditions).46 The principle is straightforward: those with the greatest clinical need are offered treatment first, and the criteria widen over time as services have the capacity to deliver it.
What this means for you in practice is that the answer can differ between two people with similar weights who live in different areas, or who sit in different clinical groups. Full rollout is expected to take years, which is why many people who meet the licensed criteria choose regulated private treatment rather than waiting.4
How to find out where you stand
Ask your GP practice whether it is currently offering tirzepatide for weight management and whether you fall within an eligible group. It is worth having your BMI and a list of any weight-related conditions ready, because those details determine your group. Your practice can also tell you whether referral to a specialist weight-management service is the route locally.
If you have type 2 diabetes, tirzepatide may also be considered for that condition under separate guidance, so mention it. Your clinician will explain which pathway applies to you.5
Can my GP prescribe tirzepatide?
Where your practice is offering it and you fall within an eligible group, yes. Prescribing decisions rest with your clinician, who will weigh your health, your other medicines and the local arrangements. If you are not yet eligible, a GP will often be happy to discuss options and to note any private treatment you start, which helps keep your records complete.
The NHS prescription charge is £9.90 in England where a charge applies, and prescriptions are free in other parts of the UK. Those are charges for the prescription itself rather than for private pens, which are priced by the pharmacy.
Planning while you wait
If you are in a group not yet reached, it is reasonable to keep working on the basics that support any treatment: regular activity, a reduced-calorie eating pattern and tracking your progress. These matter because Mounjaro is used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity, not instead of them.1 Whatever route you take, the medicine supports habits rather than replacing them.
05 · Private availability
Private availability: how supply works
Private Mounjaro is available through GPhC-registered online pharmacies, and ours is registered under GPhC 9012878. The medicine is prescription-only, so you cannot simply buy a pen; you need an online consultation reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber who decides whether it is suitable for you.1
Our supply comes through official LillyDirect supply, meaning Mounjaro direct from Eli Lilly's UK distribution. Every pen is a genuine KwikPen, and all six strengths from 2.5mg to 15mg are in stock as of October 2026. You can check the registration of any pharmacy you consider using on the GPhC public register.12
How ordering works
The journey is deliberately simple and has four stages.
- Free online consultation. A short health questionnaire, with no charge and no obligation.
- Prescriber review. Your answers are reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber, not a scoring script. Payment is taken when you place the order; if the prescriber decides the treatment is not suitable, the order is refunded automatically in full.
- Dispensing and dispatch. Your medicine is dispensed by our registered pharmacy, with same-day dispatch when ordered by 3pm.
- Delivery. Free next-day tracked delivery by DPD in discreet, temperature-controlled packaging. Saturday delivery is £14.99.
Needles, a sharps bin and injection guidance are included with every order, so you do not need to source anything separately.
Looking for a pharmacy near you?
If you want to understand why shop-front stock varies, our page on pharmacy-level availability covers that in detail.
What the price covers
The consultation is free, and the price shown is the price paid with no hidden fees. Payment options include Visa and Mastercard, Klarna and pay-monthly options, and there are no subscriptions. Repeat orders re-check suitability and nothing is shipped automatically, so you stay in control of each pen.
The standard price of the 2.5mg starter pen is £169.99. A new customer saves £40 on their first order with code FIRST40, and an automatic £25 reorder discount applies to every future order (code DOSE25).
Support after you order
Aftercare is part of the service rather than an add-on. That includes ongoing monthly reviews, dose-titration and follow-up assessments by the prescribing team, and side-effect support. You can reach us by email at support@everydaymeds.co.uk, through the account portal chat or by phone on 0333 207 0413, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. A free companion app, GLPTrackr, is available on iOS and Android to track your journey.
06 · Every dose in supply
Availability by dose, including 15mg
Mounjaro comes as a pre-filled multi-dose pen (KwikPen) in six strengths: 2.5mg, 5mg, 7.5mg, 10mg, 12.5mg and 15mg.1 We stock all six, and they are in stock as of October 2026. That includes the 15mg pen, which people often ask about separately because it is the top of the ladder.
Availability by dose matters because nobody jumps straight to a high strength. Everyone starts Mounjaro on 2.5mg once a week. This starting dose is about letting your body adjust, not about weight loss itself.1 After at least 4 weeks the dose increases to 5mg, and can then step up by 2.5mg at a minimum of 4-week intervals (7.5mg, 10mg, 12.5mg) up to a maximum of 15mg weekly, depending on how you respond and tolerate it.1
What each strength costs
Each pen is priced per month, as one pen covers four weekly doses.13 The standard prices are:
- 2.5mg: £169.99, or £42.50 per week
- 5mg: £218.99, or £54.75 per week
- 7.5mg: £279.99, or £70.00 per week
- 10mg: £290.99, or £72.75 per week
- 12.5mg: £319.99, or £80.00 per week
- 15mg: £329.99, or £82.50 per week
A new customer's first order, at any dose, is £40 less with code FIRST40. That applies to people switching to us at a higher dose too: switching at 15mg, your first order is £289.99. After that, every order is £25 off the standard price.
Planning the first stretch
If you step up after 4 weeks on each dose, your first four pens (2.5mg to 10mg) cost £959.96 at standard prices, before discounts. Over a full first year, the cost is £2,711.88 if you settle at 5mg and up to £3,599.88 at 15mg, again before discounts. Many people settle at a maintenance dose of 5mg, 10mg or 15mg, and higher is not automatically better; your prescriber will guide the right pace.1
Need a specific strength?
If you are checking one particular strength, such as the 5mg pen, see our page on availability of the 5mg pen. Moving up is a prescriber decision at each review, so you do not need to choose a final dose in advance. If you are already on a higher strength elsewhere, tell the prescriber during the consultation so that they can consider your treatment history.
Why dose availability matters for continuity
A gap in supply mid-titration is frustrating, because you may have to reason about missed doses and restarting. Knowing that your next strength is available before you need it lets you plan the reorder in good time. Reorders re-check suitability, so build in a little lead time instead of ordering on the day your last dose is due.
07 · Tablets and generics
Generic tirzepatide, oral tirzepatide and tablet alternatives
There is no tablet form of Mounjaro, because tirzepatide is injection-only in the UK.1 Mounjaro is the licensed brand supplied by Eli Lilly, and we do not supply any other tirzepatide product. If a seller claims to offer a generic or a cheaper copy, be wary.
What licensed tablets now exist
Two GLP-1 weight-loss tablets are now licensed in the UK: Wegovy tablets (oral semaglutide, made by Novo Nordisk), approved by the MHRA in June 2026, and Foundayo (orforglipron, made by Eli Lilly), approved in August 2026. They are different medicines from Mounjaro, with their own dosing, eligibility checks and trial results, and both are prescription-only.2021
Wegovy tablets contain semaglutide, the same active ingredient as the Wegovy injection, taken as one tablet once a day. The tablet must be taken on an empty stomach after fasting for at least 8 hours, swallowed whole with a sip of water (up to half a glass, about 120ml), and you then wait at least 30 minutes before eating, drinking or taking other tablets.20
Foundayo contains orforglipron, a once-daily GLP-1 tablet made by Eli Lilly, the maker of Mounjaro. Unlike Wegovy tablets it can be taken at any time of day, with or without food and without water restrictions; the tablet is swallowed whole.21
Tablets versus the injection
Mounjaro is a once-weekly injection; Wegovy tablets and Foundayo are once-daily tablets. No trial has compared Mounjaro directly with either tablet, so results from separate trials, with different people, durations and doses, should not be set against each other as if they were head to head.2021 The practical differences matter as much as the averages: Wegovy tablets need a strict empty-stomach routine every morning, Foundayo has no food or water rules, and Mounjaro needs one injection a week. A prescriber will check which option is suitable for your health, your other medicines and your routine.
Other alternatives, and what is not a medicine
Other licensed options work differently. Orlistat is a tablet that blocks some dietary fat absorption and produces smaller average losses, while Wegovy and Saxenda (liraglutide) are other licensed injectables.18 Our page on Wegovy availability and next-day delivery covers the semaglutide injection route, and you can see the Wegovy pen directly.
"Natural GLP-1" supplements, such as berberine, are not medicines, are not regulated for this use and have no comparable trial evidence. They are low-cost supplements with no clinical oversight, and their wide availability should not be mistaken for effectiveness. For a fuller view, read our guide to supplements sold as GLP-1 support.
Which should you ask about?
If you dislike needles, a tablet may be worth discussing, though tablets bring their own routines. If you prefer one dose a week with no daily rule, an injection fits better. Either way, the decision belongs in a consultation, where a prescriber can look at your whole picture.
08 · Safe buying
Buying safely when supply looks tight
The safest way to buy Mounjaro is from a registered pharmacy that supplies only after a consultation. Whenever a medicine is in public demand, counterfeit and unregulated sellers appear. Knowing the warning signs protects you.
Red flags
- A seller offering to supply without a consultation or prescription. Mounjaro is a prescription-only medicine, so a legitimate supplier will always ask about your health first.
- No pharmacy registration you can verify. Check the GPhC register for any pharmacy before ordering.
- Social-media or marketplace listings, or sellers who contact you unprompted.
- Dramatic weight-loss claims or promises of specific results. Results vary from person to person.
- Pens, powders, vials or "kits" that are not the branded KwikPen supplied through the official channel.
The MHRA publishes guidance on counterfeit medicine alerts, and if you suspect a product is fake you can report it. If you experience a suspected side effect from any product, you can report it through the Yellow Card scheme.719
What genuine supply looks like
Genuine supply has a clear chain. Ours is official LillyDirect supply, direct from Eli Lilly's UK distribution, dispensed by a registered pharmacy after prescriber review and delivered in temperature-controlled packaging. The pen you receive is a branded KwikPen in one of the six licensed strengths, with a patient information leaflet in the box.
You should be able to see the pharmacy's registration number, a way to contact a person and an explanation of how suitability is checked. If any of those are missing, treat the seller with caution. Our registration, GPhC 9012878, can be checked on the public register.12
Cheap does not mean good value
If a price seems far below the rest of the market, ask why. Across the UK pharmacies we track, prices for the same dose vary between providers, and our index (checked 10 October 2026) shows Mounjaro pens from £143.96 to £339.00 per month across all doses. For the 2.5mg starting pen alone, the range runs from £143.96 to £179.99.
Supply and the price rise
Availability and price are separate questions. Eli Lilly raised the UK list price of Mounjaro, and pharmacy sell prices vary because of confidential discounts.10 That is one reason a price comparison needs a date. Ours are shown live and checked 10 October 2026.
Finally, keep your own records. Note the pharmacy, the strength and the date of every pen. If you ever need to discuss your treatment with your GP or prescriber, that information makes the conversation easier and safer.
09 · Storage and travel
Storing and travelling with your supply
Once you have a pen, keeping it correctly protects both the medicine and your supply. Keep Mounjaro pens in a fridge at 2–8°C and never freeze them.1 Once in use, a pen can be kept out of the fridge at a temperature not above 30°C for up to 30 days after first use, useful for short trips, and must then be thrown away. Do not use a pen that has been above 30°C or has been frozen. Keep the pen cap on to protect it from light, and never use a pen that has been frozen.
Stocking up and unopened pens
Unopened pens should be kept in the fridge and keep until the expiry date printed on the box. If an unopened pen has been out of the fridge, check with the pharmacy before using it rather than relying on a remembered day limit; figures circulating online often come from other countries' labels.13 This is why we recommend ordering in step with your treatment rather than hoarding pens, and why the patient information leaflet is worth reading.
Flying and holidays
You can fly with Mounjaro. Carry pens in hand luggage, because hold luggage can fall below freezing, ideally in a cool bag with the prescription label or a copy of your prescription.13 In-use pens can be kept at a temperature not above 30°C for up to 30 days, so most holidays need no special arrangements; for hot climates use an insulated pouch. Check destination rules for travelling with prescription injectables before you fly.
Plan your deliveries around travel. Free next-day tracked delivery means you can usually arrange arrival before you leave, and you can ask about timing when you speak to support.
If supply is interrupted
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you can within 4 days (96 hours) of the scheduled time, then carry on with your usual day. If more than 4 days have passed, skip the missed dose entirely and take the next one on your normal day; never take two doses within 3 days of each other.1
You can also change your weekly injection day if needed, as long as at least 3 days (72 hours) have passed since your last dose.1 If supply is the worry, talk to your prescriber or to us; do not alter doses.
Using the pen
Mounjaro is injected under the skin once a week, on the same day each week, at any time of day, with or without food.1 Each KwikPen contains four weekly doses. Follow the pen's instructions each time and rotate the injection site.
Needles, a sharps bin and guidance come with every order, so you can start without any further purchases.
10 · What to expect
What to expect once you have started
Once supply is sorted, the next question is how the medicine behaves. Mounjaro is the brand name for tirzepatide, a once-weekly injectable prescription medicine made by Eli Lilly, licensed in the UK for weight management in adults and for type 2 diabetes.1
How Mounjaro helps with weight loss
Tirzepatide is the first treatment of its kind to activate two natural gut-hormone receptors at once: GIP and GLP-1. Together these help regulate appetite, slow how quickly the stomach empties, and improve the way the body responds to insulin.1 In practice, most people feel fuller sooner and less hungry between meals, which supports a reduced-calorie diet. This dual action distinguishes Mounjaro from single-action GLP-1 medicines such as semaglutide.
A realistic pace
Weight loss on Mounjaro is gradual by design. The first weeks on 2.5mg are an adjustment phase and losses are usually modest; most measurable progress builds from 5mg onward, month by month.1 Trials measured results at 72 weeks, so think in months, not days, and judge progress by trend, not individual weigh-ins.2 Individual results vary, and trial averages do not predict your own result.
The 2.5mg starting weeks are about adjustment, and experiences differ widely: some people notice appetite change and early loss in the first week, others feel little until a higher dose, and both are normal. Early loss includes water weight. Mild nausea, altered appetite and tiredness in the first days after each injection are the commonest early effects and usually settle.13
Reviews and stopping
Treatment response is reviewed by your prescriber. If you have lost less than 5% of your starting weight after 6 months on the highest dose you can tolerate, your prescriber will discuss whether continuing or stopping is right for you.4 If you stop, tirzepatide has a half-life of about five days, so after a final dose it takes roughly four to five weeks to clear the system. There is no way to speed this up, and nothing needs doing while it clears.1
When to inject
There is no best time of day: Mounjaro works the same morning or evening, with or without food. What matters is the same day each week. Many people choose a weekend morning so early side effects fall on days off.13
Safety and reporting
Mounjaro is a prescription-only medicine, supplied only after an online consultation reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber. It is used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity. Individual results vary. This page is information, not a substitute for medical advice. If you notice any new symptom, discuss it with your prescriber and report suspected side effects through the Yellow Card scheme.19
If you are weighing Mounjaro against another injection, our overview of the weight loss injection options explains how they differ.
11 · Prescription requirements
Who can be prescribed Mounjaro
Availability is only half the question; you also have to be suitable. Mounjaro is licensed for weight management in adults, so it is not available for children, and it is used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity.1 Our page on prescription requirements for tirzepatide goes into the detail.
NHS criteria versus the licence
NHS access follows NICE guidance, which recommends Mounjaro for adults with a BMI of at least 35 plus at least one weight-related condition.4 The licence is a separate thing from NHS criteria: private prescribers work within the licence and their own clinical judgement, so some people are suitable for private treatment before they would be reached by the NHS rollout. That does not make private treatment automatic; the prescriber decides.
What the consultation looks at
The online consultation is a short health questionnaire. A GPhC-registered prescriber reviews it, considering your health history, your other medicines and whether Mounjaro is right for you. Be accurate and complete, because the answers shape the decision. Payment is taken when you place the order; if the prescriber decides the treatment is not suitable, the order is refunded automatically in full.
Medicines and circumstances to mention
Tell your prescriber about every medicine you take. If you use insulin or sulfonylureas, doses may need adjusting because of the risk of low blood sugar; this is a conversation to have, not a bar on treatment. Mounjaro slows stomach emptying, which can reduce how well oral contraceptive pills are absorbed.7 The SmPC advises switching to a non-oral method, or adding a barrier method (such as condoms), for 4 weeks after starting Mounjaro and for 4 weeks after each dose increase.1
You should not take Mounjaro if you are allergic to tirzepatide or any of its ingredients, and it should not be used during pregnancy or while trying to conceive; your prescriber will take extra care, or may recommend against treatment, if you have a history of pancreatitis, severe gut or digestive disease, diabetic retinopathy, or gallbladder problems. Mounjaro must not be used during pregnancy, and it should be stopped at least one month before trying to conceive. If you become pregnant during treatment, stop the medicine and tell your prescriber promptly. If you are unsure whether a condition affects you, ask before you order rather than after.
Repeat orders
Repeat orders re-check suitability, and nothing ships automatically. This keeps treatment responsive to how you are doing, including any change in your health or your other medicines. It also means you never receive a pen you did not choose to order.
Switching providers
If you already use Mounjaro from another provider, you can switch to us. A new customer's first order at any dose is £40 less with code FIRST40, and your prescriber will review your current dose and history during the consultation before anything is approved.
12 · Serious side effects
Serious side effects: when to get help straight away
Serious side effects are uncommon but need urgent attention. Seek immediate medical help for: severe, persistent stomach pain that may spread to your back, with or without vomiting (possible pancreatitis); pain in the upper right abdomen, fever or yellowing of skin/eyes (possible gallbladder problems); or signs of a severe allergic reaction such as swelling of the face or throat and difficulty breathing. If you take insulin or a sulfonylurea alongside Mounjaro, watch for low blood sugar (shakiness, sweating, confusion) — your prescriber may need to adjust those medicines.1
How ordering works
How ordering works at EverydayMeds
Three steps, with our pharmacy team alongside you.
Step 1: Online consultation — 5–10 minutes
Complete a confidential health questionnaire covering BMI, medical history and current medication. No payment is taken until you're approved.
Step 2: Prescriber review — usually same day
A UK registered prescriber checks your suitability against the licensed criteria (BMI ≥30, or ≥27 with a weight-related condition) and contraindications, and confirms your starting dose.
Step 3: Next-day tracked delivery
Dispensed by our GPhC-registered pharmacy in temperature-controlled packaging with needles and a sharps bin included. Orders approved by 3pm for next-day tracked delivery.
Prescription and dispatch follow clinical approval. Confirm current delivery options when ordering.
Afterwards you're not on your own: dose-change reviews are built in before each step up, our pharmacist team is available for side-effect questions, and repeat orders re-check suitability rather than auto-shipping.
