A quick overview

What to know
before you start.

  • Mounjaro is a prescription-only medicine, so there is no application form to bypass: a prescriber must approve it first.
  • Two UK routes exist: the phased NHS rollout, or a regulated private online consultation.
  • "Application" also means injecting. The pen is used once weekly, and the leaflet and pen instructions explain the technique.
  • PAP (patient assistance programme) is not a UK pharmacy route.
  • Your first 2.5mg pen costs £129.99 with code FIRST40; every later order is £25 off the standard price.
In this guide

01 · Getting started

How do you apply for Mounjaro in the UK?

You apply by completing a prescriber-reviewed consultation, either through the NHS or through a regulated private pharmacy. Mounjaro is a prescription-only medicine, supplied only after an online consultation reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber.13 It is used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity, and individual results vary.

There is no shortcut, coupon or "application site" that replaces that review. Anyone offering to supply Mounjaro without a consultation or prescription is not operating legitimately. Our weight loss clinic explains the wider treatment options if you are still comparing routes.

02 · Your two routes

NHS application or private consultation?

The NHS route depends on where you sit in a phased rollout, while the private route depends on whether you are clinically suitable. Mounjaro is available on the NHS, but access is being phased in over several years. NICE recommends it for adults with a BMI of at least 35 plus at least one weight-related condition, and the NHS primary-care rollout began in June 2025 with the highest-need groups first (initially BMI 40+ with four or more qualifying conditions).46 Full rollout is expected to take years, which is why many people who meet the licensed criteria choose regulated private treatment rather than waiting.

If you are unsure which route fits, start by asking your GP. If you would rather not wait for the rollout to reach you, the private route is open to adults who meet the licensed criteria and pass prescriber review.

03 · Private route

What happens when you apply privately?

Payment is taken when you place the order; if the prescriber decides the treatment is not suitable, the order is refunded automatically in full. First, you complete a short, free health questionnaire with no obligation. Second, a GPhC-registered prescriber reviews it personally. Unsuitable orders are refunded automatically. Third, our registered pharmacy dispenses the pen, with same-day dispatch when ordered by 3pm. Fourth, you receive free next-day tracked delivery in discreet, temperature-controlled packaging.

You can start from the Mounjaro pen page, where the live prices and the consultation are. All six doses are in stock, supplied through official LillyDirect channels directly from Eli Lilly's UK distribution. Needles, a sharps bin and injection guidance come with every order.

04 · What the medicine is

What are you actually applying for?

You are applying for tirzepatide, sold as Mounjaro. Mounjaro is the brand name for tirzepatide, a once-weekly injectable prescription medicine made by Eli Lilly. In the UK it is licensed for weight management in adults and for type 2 diabetes. It comes as a pre-filled multi-dose pen (KwikPen) in six strengths: 2.5mg, 5mg, 7.5mg, 10mg, 12.5mg and 15mg.1

That matters for your application because the prescriber chooses your starting dose and every later change. People usually begin on 2.5mg. Moves to higher strengths are decided at follow-up, not in advance. Our Mounjaro dosage instructions guide sets out how the strengths fit together.

The leaflet that comes in the box is the authoritative reference for use of the pen, and it is worth reading before your first dose.13

05 · How the pen is applied

How do you apply the Mounjaro pen?

You inject Mounjaro under the skin (subcutaneously) once a week, on the same day each week, at any time of day, with or without food, using the pre-filled KwikPen and following the pen's instructions.13 Licensed injection sites are the stomach area (at least 5cm from the belly button), the front of the thigh, or the back of the upper arm if someone else gives the injection. Rotate the site with each dose, and remember each KwikPen contains four weekly doses.

These guides go further, each from a different angle:

If a pen looks damaged, or anything about it differs from the leaflet, do not use it. Contact the pharmacy. Faulty, damaged or wrong items should be reported within three days of delivery.

06 · Storage and handling

How should you store the pen after it arrives?

Unopened pens belong in the fridge until first use, and they keep until the printed expiry date. The recommended temperature range is 2–8°C.13 Our delivery uses temperature-controlled packaging, so put the pen in the fridge when it arrives rather than leaving it on the doorstep or in a warm room.

Once you start using a pen, it can be kept out of the fridge at a temperature not above 30°C for up to 30 days after first use, and must then be thrown away. Do not use a pen that has been above 30°C or has been frozen.1 For any question about an unopened pen that has been out of the fridge, read the leaflet and ask the pharmacy rather than guessing. Pens past their expiry date or outside the tested window should not be used, because sterility and potency are no longer assured.

07 · Early weeks and results

What should you expect in the first weeks?

How quickly Mounjaro works varies between people, and the figures that exist come from trials, not from a promise about your own result. In the SURMOUNT-1 trial of 2,539 adults, people taking tirzepatide alongside diet and exercise lost on average 15% of their body weight on 5mg, 19.5% on 10mg and 20.9% on 15mg over 72 weeks, compared with 3.1% with lifestyle changes alone.2 These are trial averages. Individual results vary, and treatment works alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity, not instead of them.

Those results were reached over the full course of the trial, and the starting dose is the first step of a gradual build-up.

In practice, most people feel fuller sooner and less hungry between meals, which supports a reduced-calorie diet.1 Side effects are most likely when starting treatment or moving up a dose, most are digestive, and for most people they ease within days to a few weeks; tell your prescriber about anything new or troubling, and report suspected side effects through the Yellow Card scheme.19

08 · Why the dose matters

Can you stay on the starter dose?

Whether you stay on 2.5mg is a clinical decision made with your prescriber at review, not something to decide alone. The 2.5mg pen is the starter strength, and the SURMOUNT-1 weight-loss figures were reported for 5mg, 10mg and 15mg, not for 2.5mg.2

Our ongoing monthly reviews exist so that dose decisions are checked against how you are doing, and repeat orders re-check suitability. There is no auto-shipping.

09 · Applying versus PAP

What about a Mounjaro PAP application?

A PAP, or patient assistance programme, is not a UK pharmacy route, and we do not run one. UK adults have two real options: NHS access through the phased rollout, or a regulated private consultation. If a website claims to offer a special programme that bypasses prescriber review, treat it with caution.

Where cost is the concern, the clearest figures are on the product page. We also offer Klarna and pay-monthly options, with no subscription. If you want to see how providers compare, our Mounjaro comparison sites guide sets out what to check; across the UK pharmacies we track, standard Mounjaro pen prices ranged from £143.96 to £339.00 per month as of 10 October 2026, against our standard prices of £169.99 to £329.99.

10 · Safety before you apply

How do you apply safely?

Only buy from a pharmacy you can verify on the GPhC register. EverydayMeds is registered with the GPhC under number 9012878, and you can check it on the GPhC register entry. Our Mounjaro comes from official LillyDirect supply, as genuine KwikPens.

Counterfeit weight-loss pens and unregulated sellers are a recognised risk, and the MHRA publishes counterfeit medicine alerts.7 A seller that skips the consultation, promises specific results or pushes urgency is a warning sign. If you notice a side effect, report it through the Yellow Card scheme.19

Mounjaro is not the only prescription option. Our Wegovy pen page covers semaglutide, which is a different medicine with its own dose ladder, and your prescriber can advise which suits you.

11 · Serious side effects

Serious side effects: when to get help straight away

Serious side effects are uncommon but need urgent attention. Seek immediate medical help for: severe, persistent stomach pain that may spread to your back, with or without vomiting (possible pancreatitis); pain in the upper right abdomen, fever or yellowing of skin/eyes (possible gallbladder problems); or signs of a severe allergic reaction such as swelling of the face or throat and difficulty breathing. If you take insulin or a sulfonylurea alongside Mounjaro, watch for low blood sugar (shakiness, sweating, confusion) — your prescriber may need to adjust those medicines.1

How ordering works

How ordering works at EverydayMeds

Three steps, with our pharmacy team alongside you.

  1. EverydayMeds online consultation on a mobile phone

Complete a confidential health questionnaire covering BMI, medical history and current medication. No payment is taken until you're approved.

  2. A clinician ready to review an online consultation

Step 2: Prescriber review — usually same day

A UK registered prescriber checks your suitability against the licensed criteria (BMI ≥30, or ≥27 with a weight-related condition) and contraindications, and confirms your starting dose.

  3. An EverydayMeds delivery box

    Step 3: Next-day tracked delivery

Dispensed by our GPhC-registered pharmacy in temperature-controlled packaging with needles and a sharps bin included. Orders approved by 3pm for next-day tracked delivery.

Prescription and dispatch follow clinical approval. Confirm current delivery options when ordering.

Afterwards you're not on your own: dose-change reviews are built in before each step up, our pharmacist team is available for side-effect questions, and repeat orders re-check suitability rather than auto-shipping.

Your questions, answered

Mounjaro price UK — frequently asked questions

Answers to common questions about Mounjaro prices, NHS access and ongoing treatment.

Ask our pharmacy team
How do I apply for Mounjaro in the UK?
Complete a free online consultation, which a GPhC-registered prescriber reviews before anything is dispensed. If approved, our registered pharmacy dispenses your pen and delivers it free next day. Alternatively, ask your GP about the phased NHS route. Payment is taken when you place the order; if the prescriber decides the treatment is not suitable, the order is refunded automatically in full.
How do I apply for Mounjaro on the NHS?
Speak to your GP. NICE recommends Mounjaro for adults with a BMI of at least 35 plus at least one weight-related condition, but access is being phased in over several years, with the highest-need groups first. Your GP can tell you whether you currently qualify locally and what the next step would be.
How do I apply the Mounjaro pen?
Inject once weekly using the pre-filled KwikPen, following the patient information leaflet and the guidance included with your order. Inject under the skin on the same day each week; licensed sites are the stomach area (at least 5cm from the belly button), the front of the thigh, or the back of the upper arm if someone else gives the injection, rotating the site with each dose. Our Mounjaro injection instructions guide walks through the process in more depth.
Is there a Mounjaro PAP application in the UK?
No. A patient assistance programme is not a UK pharmacy route, and we do not run one. UK adults can use the phased NHS rollout or a regulated private consultation. Be cautious of any site claiming a special programme that skips prescriber review.
How quickly does Mounjaro work?
It varies between people. Most people feel fuller sooner and less hungry between meals, which supports a reduced-calorie diet. Published weight-loss averages come from SURMOUNT-1 over 72 weeks, so they do not describe a single week. Trial averages do not predict your own result, so your prescriber will review progress with you.
What are the common side effects in the first week?
Most side effects are digestive: nausea, diarrhoea, vomiting, constipation and abdominal discomfort affect more than 1 in 10 people, and they are most likely when starting treatment or moving up a dose. If you notice anything new or troubling, tell your prescriber, and report suspected side effects through the MHRA Yellow Card scheme. Our support team and prescribing team can help with side-effect questions during your treatment. Seek immediate medical help for severe, persistent stomach pain that may spread to your back, with or without vomiting (possible pancreatitis); pain in the upper right abdomen, fever or yellowing of skin/eyes (possible gallbladder problems); or signs of a severe allergic reaction such as swelling of the face or throat and difficulty breathing.
Should I take Mounjaro in the morning or at night?
There is no best time of day: Mounjaro works the same morning or evening, with or without food. What matters is injecting on the same day each week. If you are unsure, ask our support team, who are available Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.
Can you stay on 2.5mg and still lose weight?
That is a decision for your prescriber at review. The 2.5mg pen is the starter strength, which is about letting your body adjust rather than weight loss itself. Results vary, and doses should only change on prescriber advice.
