A quick overview

What to know
before you start.

  • Mounjaro is licensed for weight management and type 2 diabetes, not for cellulite or any cosmetic skin concern.
  • Weight change can alter body shape and skin appearance, but how cellulite responds differs from person to person and we cannot predict it.
  • Cellulite is not a listed side effect of Mounjaro; report any new skin symptom to your prescriber and via Yellow Card.
  • Trial results describe weight loss only, so they say nothing about cellulite, skin firmness or texture.
  • If cellulite is your main concern, Mounjaro is the wrong tool; if weight is the concern, it is worth a free consultation.
In this guide

01 · The honest answer

Does Mounjaro reduce cellulite?

Mounjaro does not directly treat cellulite, and nothing in its product information claims that it does. The medicine is licensed for weight management in adults and for type 2 diabetes1. Cellulite is a cosmetic skin concern, and it sits outside both of those uses.

What the medicine does do is help many people lose weight. In the SURMOUNT-1 trial of 2,539 adults, people taking tirzepatide alongside diet and exercise lost on average 15% of their body weight on 5mg, 19.5% on 10mg and 20.9% on 15mg over 72 weeks, compared with 3.1% with lifestyle changes alone.2 These are trial averages, and individual results vary.

That trial measured body weight. It did not measure cellulite, skin texture or skin firmness. So any claim that tirzepatide improves, or worsens, cellulite goes beyond the evidence.

02 · Your decision

Is this relevant to you?

The useful question is not "will Mounjaro fix my cellulite?" but "do I have a weight-related health reason to consider treatment?" If you do, any change in skin appearance is a side issue rather than the goal.

Mounjaro is a prescription-only medicine, supplied only after an online consultation reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber. It is used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity, and individual results vary.1 It should not be started purely for a cosmetic reason.

03 · What to do next

If weight is the real concern

If you meet the licensed criteria and want to discuss treatment, our weight loss clinic explains how a consultation works. The Mounjaro pen starts at £169.99 per month for the 2.5mg starting dose at standard price, and a new customer's first 2.5mg pen costs £129.99 with code FIRST40. Every later order is £25 off the standard price.

The consultation is free, and a prescriber decides whether treatment is suitable. If it is not, the order is refunded automatically.

04 · What Mounjaro is licensed for

What Mounjaro is licensed to do

Mounjaro is the brand name for tirzepatide, a once-weekly injectable prescription medicine made by Eli Lilly. In the UK it is licensed for weight management in adults and for type 2 diabetes.1 It comes as a pre-filled multi-dose pen (KwikPen) in 2.5mg, 5mg, 7.5mg, 10mg, 12.5mg and 15mg strengths.

Nowhere in that licence is there a statement about skin appearance. Tell your prescriber about any new or lasting symptom, including anything you notice on your skin.

This matters because a medicine's licence is built from the outcomes studied in trials. Cellulite was not one of them. When a page says tirzepatide "smooths" or "tightens" skin, it is describing something the licensed evidence does not cover.

05 · How tirzepatide works

How tirzepatide works

Tirzepatide is the first treatment of its kind to activate two natural gut-hormone receptors at once: GIP and GLP-1. Together these help regulate appetite, slow how quickly the stomach empties, and improve the way the body responds to insulin.

In practice, most people feel fuller sooner and less hungry between meals, which supports a reduced-calorie diet. This dual action is what distinguishes Mounjaro from single-action GLP-1 medicines such as semaglutide (Wegovy/Ozempic).

Everything in that description is about appetite, stomach emptying and insulin response. None of it is a direct action on skin, connective tissue or the fat layer under the skin. Any effect on how your body looks therefore comes indirectly, through changes in weight, rather than through a skin-specific mechanism.

06 · Weight loss and skin

Can weight loss change how cellulite looks?

For some people, a smaller body may make skin dimpling look less pronounced. For others it may look unchanged. For others, particularly after a large change in weight, skin can look looser, and that can make texture more noticeable in places. Which of these applies to you cannot be predicted.

At 72 weeks, 85% of participants on 5mg, 89% on 10mg and 91% on 15mg had lost at least 5% of their body weight. Half of participants on 10mg and 57% on 15mg lost at least 20% of their body weight.2 These are trial averages, individual results vary, and treatment works alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity, not instead of them.

None of those figures tells you how your skin will look. Trial averages do not predict your own result, and a bigger weight change does not map neatly onto a better or worse skin outcome.

Because the effect on skin is unpredictable, we would encourage you to focus on the health reasons for treatment. Our guide on whether Mounjaro reduces bloating is a good example of another appearance-related question where the honest answer is nuanced.

07 · Cellulite is not a listed effect

Is cellulite a side effect of Mounjaro?

Cellulite is not listed as a side effect in the UK patient leaflet, in either direction.13

If you notice a new or worrying skin change while taking Mounjaro, discuss it with your prescriber rather than assuming a cause. Skin changes can have many explanations, and a clinician is the right person to sort them out. You can also report any suspected side effect through the MHRA Yellow Card scheme.19

Reporting is useful because it helps regulators spot patterns over time. It does not mean your symptom is confirmed as caused by the medicine.

08 · Spotting misleading claims

How to spot misleading cellulite claims

Be cautious of any seller who offers a cosmetic result from a prescription weight-loss medicine. Dramatic claims about skin or body contouring are a warning sign, especially when paired with an offer to supply without a consultation or prescription.

Mounjaro is prescription-only. Counterfeit and unregulated products are a recognised risk, and the MHRA publishes alerts about them.7 A genuine supplier is a registered pharmacy that carries out a proper consultation. You can check ours on the GPhC register under registration 9012878.

Likewise, low-cost supplements marketed as natural alternatives carry no clinical oversight, and their dosing is not standardised. Their cheapness is not a sign of benefit.

A few practical checks help:

  • Does the seller ask about your health and medical history before supplying?
  • Is a prescriber involved in the decision?
  • Does the seller avoid promising specific results?
  • Can you find the pharmacy on the GPhC register?

If the answer to any of those is no, walk away.

09 · Cellulite questions we cannot answer

Other questions about cellulite

For questions such as whether toning your legs changes cellulite, whether it reflects lymphatic drainage or why it can seem to appear suddenly, a GP, pharmacist or dermatologist is the better route, particularly if the skin looks unusual, feels painful or changes quickly.

If you want an evidence-based view on a cosmetic treatment, ask the practitioner offering it what evidence supports it and what the risks are.

If cellulite is your only concern and you do not have a weight-related health reason for treatment, Mounjaro is not the right tool, and we would not encourage you to start it for that purpose.

10 · Serious side effects

Serious side effects: when to get help straight away

Serious side effects are uncommon but need urgent attention. Seek immediate medical help for: severe, persistent stomach pain that may spread to your back, with or without vomiting (possible pancreatitis); pain in the upper right abdomen, fever or yellowing of skin/eyes (possible gallbladder problems); or signs of a severe allergic reaction such as swelling of the face or throat and difficulty breathing. If you take insulin or a sulfonylurea alongside Mounjaro, watch for low blood sugar (shakiness, sweating, confusion) — your prescriber may need to adjust those medicines.1

11 · NHS and private access

NHS and private access to Mounjaro

Mounjaro is available on the NHS, but access is being phased in over several years. NICE recommends it for adults with a BMI of at least 35 plus at least one weight-related condition, and the NHS primary-care rollout began in June 2025 with the highest-need groups first (initially BMI 40+ with four or more qualifying conditions).46 Full rollout is expected to take years, which is why many people who meet the licensed criteria choose regulated private treatment rather than waiting.

If you do go private, the process is straightforward. Payment is taken when you place the order; if the prescriber decides the treatment is not suitable, the order is refunded automatically in full. Our pharmacy then dispenses it, with same-day dispatch when ordered by 3pm and free next-day tracked delivery in temperature-controlled packaging.

Ongoing monthly reviews are included, and repeat orders re-check suitability, with no auto-shipping. Needles, a sharps bin and injection guidance come with every order. Our supply is official LillyDirect supply, with genuine KwikPens, and all six doses are in stock.

Treatment is for people with a health reason to lose weight. A good conversation with the prescriber about your goals, including how you feel about your body, is part of the consultation.

Your questions, answered

Mounjaro price UK — frequently asked questions

Answers to common questions about Mounjaro prices, NHS access and ongoing treatment.

Ask our pharmacy team
Does Mounjaro reduce cellulite?
No. Mounjaro is licensed for weight management and type 2 diabetes, not for cellulite. Weight loss may change how your skin looks, but the effect varies and cannot be predicted, so it should not be the reason to start treatment.
Can weight loss help reduce cellulite?
Weight loss may change how visible cellulite looks for some people, while others notice no difference or find skin looks looser. Trial results for tirzepatide describe weight outcomes only, not skin appearance.
What are the potential side effects of taking Mounjaro?
The most common side effects are nausea, diarrhoea, vomiting, constipation and abdominal discomfort, and they tend to ease as the body adjusts. Seek immediate medical help for severe, persistent stomach pain that may spread to your back, with or without vomiting, pain in the upper right abdomen, fever or yellowing of skin or eyes, or signs of a severe allergic reaction. Cellulite is not listed as a side effect in the UK patient leaflet. If you notice any new symptom, discuss it with your prescriber and report it through the MHRA Yellow Card scheme.
How does Ozempic work?
Ozempic contains semaglutide, a single-action GLP-1 medicine. Ozempic is semaglutide licensed for type 2 diabetes — it is not a UK weight-loss medicine, and prescribing it privately for weight loss is off-label. Mounjaro differs because tirzepatide activates two gut-hormone receptors, GIP and GLP-1, which together help regulate appetite, slow stomach emptying and improve the body's response to insulin. Neither medicine is licensed to treat cellulite.
Does anything truly get rid of cellulite?
Be wary of anyone who promises specific results. If you want advice, speak to a GP, pharmacist or dermatologist and ask what evidence supports any treatment and what its risks are.
Will cellulite go away if I tone my legs?
Increased physical activity is part of how Mounjaro is used alongside a reduced-calorie diet, and it supports general health. A GP or qualified fitness professional can advise on what suits you.
Does cellulite mean poor lymphatic drainage?
Treat claims like this with caution, particularly when they are used to sell a product. If you are worried about swelling or any skin change, see your GP. If you have swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat or difficulty breathing, get medical help straight away.
What does Kim Kardashian use for cellulite?
We do not comment on celebrity routines, and nothing a celebrity uses is evidence that a treatment works. Mounjaro is a prescription medicine for weight management and type 2 diabetes, not a cosmetic product. A GP or dermatologist is the better source for cosmetic advice.
Is it worth starting Mounjaro to improve my skin?
No. Mounjaro is supplied for weight management or type 2 diabetes, and it is used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity. Any change in skin appearance is unpredictable. If you have a weight-related health reason, a free consultation with a GPhC-registered prescriber can tell you whether treatment is suitable.
