A quick overview
What to know
before you start.
-
Three months means three 4-week pens (12 weeks). Your total depends on which doses those pens are, not on a flat bundle rate.
-
On a standard titration the first three pens are 2.5mg, 5mg and 7.5mg, so add £169.99, £218.99 and £279.99 at standard prices.
-
If you are already on one dose, you pay that dose's pen price for each of the three months, less your discounts.
-
New customers get £40 off the first order with code FIRST40; every later order is £25 off.
-
Three months in, trial-average losses are modest. Budget for the dose you may need later, not only the first 12 weeks.
In this guide
01 · The cost
What a 3-month supply of Mounjaro costs
A 3-month supply costs the price of three pens added together, because each KwikPen delivers exactly four weekly doses.1 Twelve weeks therefore means three pens. There is no single "3-month price" because the strength changes as you step up, and the price changes with it.
All figures are standard prices before discounts, and they come from the live Mounjaro pen prices, checked 10 October 2026.
| Scenario | Pens | 3-month total at standard prices |
|---|---|---|
| Standard start (new to Mounjaro) | 2.5mg, 5mg, 7.5mg | £169.99 + £218.99 + £279.99 |
| Staying on 5mg | 3 × 5mg | 3 × £218.99 |
| Staying on 7.5mg | 3 × 7.5mg | 3 × £279.99 |
| Staying on 10mg | 3 × 10mg | 3 × £290.99 |
| Staying on 12.5mg | 3 × 12.5mg | 3 × £319.99 |
| Staying on 15mg | 3 × 15mg | 3 × £329.99 |
Each pen price is for one four-week pen, so the weekly cost works out at £42.50 on 2.5mg, £54.75 on 5mg, £70.00 on 7.5mg, £72.75 on 10mg, £80.00 on 12.5mg and £82.50 on 15mg. Multiply a weekly figure by 12 for the same three-month answer.
02 · Discounts
How discounts change a 3-month total
A new customer's first order is £40 less with code FIRST40, at any dose, and every later order is £25 less with code DOSE25. That means only your first pen carries the new-customer discount; the second and third pens carry the reorder discount instead.
Your first 2.5mg pen costs £129.99 with code FIRST40 (standard price £169.99). If you are switching to us from another provider at a higher dose, the first-order discount still applies: switching at 15mg, your first order is £289.99. Every later order is £25 off the standard price of its dose.
If you want to see how multi-pen planning works, our guides to the 3-month supply bundle and multi-month supply options go through it. Repeat orders re-check suitability and nothing ships automatically, so you are never committed to a three-month run.
03 · What you pay for
What the price includes
The price you see is the price you pay for the pen. The consultation is free, and there are no hidden fees. Delivery is free next-day tracked delivery in temperature-controlled packaging, with Saturday delivery at £14.99. Needles, a sharps bin and injection guidance come with every order.
Orders placed by 3pm are dispatched the same day. All six doses are in stock, and every pen is genuine Mounjaro from official LillyDirect supply, direct from Eli Lilly's UK distribution. You can pay by Visa or Mastercard, Klarna or pay-monthly options, and there are no subscriptions.
04 · The dose ladder is your real cost
The dose ladder is your real monthly cost
Your 3-month cost is set mostly by how far up the dose ladder you are. Mounjaro comes in six strengths: 2.5mg, 5mg, 7.5mg, 10mg, 12.5mg and 15mg.1
If you step up after 4 weeks on each dose, your first four pens (2.5mg to 10mg) cost £959.96 at standard prices. The first three of those pens are your first 12 weeks. The fourth, the 10mg pen, falls just outside a 3-month window, so a three-month plan should leave room for it.
Treatment is reviewed as you go. Your prescriber decides each step based on how you are responding and tolerating the medicine, so the dose you will be on at month three is not fixed in advance. Some people stay on a lower strength; others move up.
If you already know your dose, the dedicated planning pages go deeper: 5mg over three months, 10mg over three months and 15mg over three months. For the single-month view, see one month's cost.
05 · Budget for a first year
Putting it together: a realistic first-year budget
Three months is the start of the spend, not the whole of it, so it helps to see a full year. A year is 52 weeks, or 13 pens. At standard prices, a first year costs £2,711.88 if you stay on 5mg after your 2.5mg starting pen, up to £3,599.88 if you step up through every dose to 15mg. A new customer's first order is £40 less, and every later order £25 less.
If you settle at another strength, work from the monthly pen price: £279.99 at 7.5mg, £290.99 at 10mg or £319.99 at 12.5mg. Multiply by the number of pens you expect to need rather than assuming a year figure that does not exist for that dose.
| Planning horizon | Pens | Cost figure |
|---|---|---|
| First 12 weeks (3 months) | 3 | Add the three pen prices for your doses |
| First year settling at 5mg | 13 | £2,711.88 at standard prices |
| First year settling at 15mg | 13 | £3,599.88 at standard prices |

06 · What to expect by 3 months
What to expect after three months
After three months, most people are still on the lower rungs of the dose ladder, so average losses are modest compared with the headline trial figures. A sensible 3-month expectation on a standard titration is mid single digits as a percentage of body weight, with wide individual variation. Mild nausea can be managed with smaller meals eaten slowly. Severe, persistent stomach pain that may spread to your back, with or without vomiting (possible pancreatitis), pain in the upper right abdomen, fever or yellowing of the skin or eyes (possible gallbladder problems), or signs of a severe allergic reaction such as swelling of the face or throat and difficulty breathing: seek immediate medical help.
The headline numbers come from a much longer period. In the SURMOUNT-1 trial of 2,539 adults, people taking tirzepatide alongside diet and exercise lost on average 15% of their body weight on 5mg, 19.5% on 10mg and 20.9% on 15mg over 72 weeks, compared with 3.1% with lifestyle changes alone.2 For someone starting at 100 kg, 20.9% is about 21 kg. These are trial averages, they were measured at 72 weeks rather than 12, and individual results vary.
Average weight loss in SURMOUNT-1 built month by month, so slower early progress does not predict failure. The dose you respond to may still be ahead of you.
The first weeks on 2.5mg are an adjustment phase. Some people notice an appetite change and early loss in week one; others feel little until a higher dose. Both are normal. Early loss includes water weight, so the trend over weeks matters more than any single weigh-in. Mild nausea, altered appetite and tiredness in the first days after each injection are the commonest early effects and usually settle.
Progress is reviewed by your prescriber. If you have lost less than 5% of your starting weight after 6 months on the highest dose you can tolerate, your prescriber will discuss whether continuing or stopping is right for you.
07 · Plateaus and extra spend
Plateaus: do not spend your way out of them
Weight loss on Mounjaro is not linear, and plateaus of a few weeks are normal as the body adapts to a lower weight. A stall inside your first three months is not a reason to buy extra pens or take more than prescribed.
Within the licence, the sensible responses are to review food intake honestly, because portions drift back up, protect protein and activity, and check the basics such as sleep and alcohol. Then discuss with your prescriber whether a dose step-up is appropriate if you are not yet at maximum. A plateau is not a reason to double doses or add unlicensed products.
Beyond the scales, weight loss on tirzepatide in trials came with average improvements in waist size, blood pressure, cholesterol and blood-sugar measures, and most participants with prediabetes returned to normal blood-sugar levels. These are trial-average secondary outcomes, not promises.
08 · Comparing UK prices
How this compares with other UK pharmacies
Across the UK pharmacies we track, Mounjaro pens range from £143.96 to £339.00 per month depending on dose and provider (index checked 10 October 2026). The cheapest and dearest 2.5mg starting pens we track run from £143.96 to £179.99.
For the same dose, the gap between providers runs from £27 to £41. Over three pens, that gap is multiplied by three, so comparing like for like matters. Boots' Mounjaro dose prices run from £179.00 to £339.00 per month.
When you compare, line up the same dose, the delivery charge, whether a consultation fee applies, and whether the price shown is the price paid. Our 3-month supply price page and where to buy a 3-month supply guide cover that checklist in more depth.
09 · NHS and private routes
NHS or private: which route fits
Mounjaro is available on the NHS, but access is being phased in over several years. NICE recommends it for adults with a BMI of at least 35 plus at least one weight-related condition, and the NHS primary-care rollout began in June 2025 with the highest-need groups first, initially BMI 40+ with four or more qualifying conditions.46 Full rollout is expected to take years, which is why many people who meet the licensed criteria choose regulated private treatment rather than waiting.
If you are checking whether you qualify privately, Mounjaro is licensed for weight management in adults with a BMI of 30 or above, or a BMI between 27 and 30 with at least one weight-related condition such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, obstructive sleep apnoea, cardiovascular disease, prediabetes or type 2 diabetes. It must be used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity. A prescriber assesses your BMI, medical history and current medicines before deciding whether it is suitable.1
Our free consultation is the way to find out. It is reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber, and unsuitable orders are refunded automatically.
10 · Safety when buying
Safe supply: genuine pens and cutting corners
Buying three months of pens only makes sense if every pen is genuine. The MHRA has seized thousands of fake weight-loss pens in the UK and has issued alerts after falsified Mounjaro pens were identified. Fake pens have caused hospitalisations, and some contained insulin rather than tirzepatide.7 Only buy from a pharmacy you can verify on the GPhC register, never from social media, beauty salons or unverified websites. Genuine treatment always involves a prescription and a clinical consultation.
Genuine UK stock is supplied through Lilly's official distribution to licensed pharmacies, and every pen carries a batch number and expiry date that can be checked. A genuine pen arrives cold-chain packaged and the solution inside is clear and colourless. Do not use a pen that has been frozen, looks cloudy or discoloured, has particles in it, is past its expiry, or has been above 30°C. Once in use, a pen can be kept out of the fridge at a temperature not above 30°C for up to 30 days, and must then be thrown away.13 If supply or packaging ever seems wrong, check the pharmacy on the GPhC register and contact the pharmacy before injecting.
11 · Before you decide
What to check before you decide
Before committing to three months of treatment, check five things. First, confirm you meet the licensed criteria for your BMI and health history. Second, work out the cost at the doses you may reach, not only the starter dose. Third, check the pharmacy is on the GPhC register. Fourth, confirm what the price includes, such as delivery and consultation. Fifth, make sure ongoing prescriber reviews are part of the service.
With us, ongoing monthly reviews, dose-titration and follow-up assessments by the prescribing team are part of the service, with side-effect support if you need it. Our free companion app, GLPTrackr, helps you track your journey on iOS and Android.
Compare, too, the other treatments on offer in our weight loss treatments overview before choosing. Mounjaro is a prescription-only medicine, supplied only after an online consultation reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber. It is used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity, and individual results vary. This page is information, not a substitute for medical advice.
