In this guide

01 · Availability

Is Mounjaro 2.5mg available right now?

Yes. The 2.5mg starter pen is in stock, and so are all six doses. We obtain Mounjaro through official LillyDirect supply, direct from Eli Lilly's UK distribution, so you receive genuine KwikPens rather than grey-market stock.

For more on the starter pen, see our guide to the Mounjaro KwikPen 2.5mg, or compare it with our 2.5mg in stock listing.

02 · Price

What the 2.5mg pen costs and what is included

The standard price of one 2.5mg pen (four weekly doses, 4 weeks) is £169.99. A new customer gets £40 off their first order with code FIRST40, which brings the first 2.5mg pen to £129.99. After that, every later order is £25 off the standard price (code DOSE25). You can check the live figures on the Mounjaro pen product page.

The consultation is free, and the price shown is the price paid, with no hidden fees. Needles, a sharps bin and injection guidance come with every order. Delivery is free next-day tracked DPD in discreet, temperature-controlled packaging; Saturday delivery is £14.99. You can pay by Visa or Mastercard, use Klarna or pay-monthly options, and there is no subscription.

If you are weighing up bigger purchases, our pages on a 1 month supply of 2.5mg and a 3 month supply of 2.5mg explain the difference. Note that the licensed ladder moves up after at least 4 weeks on 2.5mg, so most people only need one starter pen.1

03 · Planning

What the starter pen means for the cost of your first year

The 2.5mg pen is only the first step. These figures are at standard prices, before discounts. A new customer's first order is £40 less, and every later order is £25 less.

PhaseLengthPensStandard cost
Starter pen (2.5mg)4 weeks1£169.99
First year, settling at 5mg52 weeks13£2,711.88
First year, settling at 15mg52 weeks13£3,599.88

If you settle at 7.5mg, 10mg or 12.5mg, the standard monthly prices are £279.99, £290.99 and £319.99. Many people settle at 5mg, 10mg or 15mg, but higher is not automatically better, and your prescriber guides the pace.1

04 · How to order

How ordering works in three steps

Payment is taken when you place the order; if the prescriber decides the treatment is not suitable, the order is refunded automatically in full.

  • Free online consultation. Complete a short health questionnaire, with no charge and no obligation. Start your free consultation.
  • Prescriber review. A GPhC-registered prescriber reviews your answers, not a scoring script. Unsuitable orders are refunded automatically.
  • Dispensing and delivery. Our registered pharmacy dispenses the pen, with same-day dispatch when ordered by 3pm and free next-day tracked delivery.

05 · What 2.5mg is for

What the 2.5mg dose is for

Everyone starts Mounjaro on 2.5mg once a week, and the starting dose is about letting your body adjust, not about weight loss itself.1 After at least 4 weeks the dose increases to 5mg. It can then step up by 2.5mg at minimum 4-week intervals (7.5mg, 10mg, 12.5mg) to a maximum of 15mg weekly, depending on how you respond and tolerate it.111

Mounjaro is the brand name for tirzepatide, a once-weekly injectable prescription medicine made by Eli Lilly. In the UK it is licensed for weight management in adults and for type 2 diabetes. It comes as a pre-filled multi-dose KwikPen in six strengths: 2.5mg, 5mg, 7.5mg, 10mg, 12.5mg and 15mg.1

06 · Will 2.5mg do anything?

Will 2.5mg do anything?

It will do something, but the first weeks are an adjustment phase and losses are usually modest. Most measurable progress builds from 5mg onward, month by month.1

Experiences differ widely. Some people notice appetite change and early loss in week one, while others feel little until a higher dose, and both are normal. Early loss includes water weight, so the trend over weeks matters more than any single weigh-in. Mild nausea, altered appetite and tiredness in the first days after each injection are the commonest early effects and usually settle.1

For context on the longer term, in the SURMOUNT-1 trial of 2,539 adults, people taking tirzepatide alongside diet and exercise lost on average 15% of their body weight on 5mg, 19.5% on 10mg and 20.9% on 15mg over 72 weeks, compared with 3.1% with lifestyle changes alone. For someone starting at 100 kg, 20.9% is about 21 kg. These are trial averages, and individual results vary. Treatment works alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity, not instead of them.2

If you have lost less than 5% of your starting weight after 6 months on the highest dose you can tolerate, your prescriber will discuss whether continuing or stopping is right for you. Think in months, not days.1

07 · Dial, units and clicks

How many units is 2.5mg? Dial, units and clicks

You do not measure 2.5mg in units. The UK Mounjaro KwikPen is set by turning the dose knob until the dose indicator shows the correct dose in the window.

Units are a syringe-and-vial concept, and the UK product is a pre-filled pen, so there is nothing to draw up or convert.

For the strength details of the pen, our page on Mounjaro 2.5mg/0.6ml explains the labelling, and the 2.5ml Mounjaro guide clears up a common mix-up between millilitres and milligrams.

08 · Doses, skipping and splitting

Skipping doses and double doses

Do not take two doses close together. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you can within 4 days (96 hours) of the scheduled time, then carry on with your usual day. If more than 4 days have passed, skip the missed dose entirely and take the next one on your normal day. Never take two doses within 3 days of each other.113

Can you go from 2.5mg to 7.5mg? The licensed ladder moves to 5mg after at least 4 weeks and then steps up by 2.5mg at a minimum of 4-week intervals, so 5mg comes before 7.5mg.1 If you are already on a higher dose with another provider, talk to the prescriber during your consultation.

Can you use two 2.5mg pens instead of one 5mg? Mounjaro is not licensed to be used that way. Altering doses outside the licence means unknown dosing accuracy and no safety data.

09 · Injecting and storage

Injecting and storing your 2.5mg pen

Mounjaro is injected under the skin once a week, on the same day each week, at any time of day, with or without food. Licensed sites are the stomach area (at least 5cm from the belly button), the front of the thigh, or the back of the upper arm if someone else gives the injection. Rotate the site with each dose.1

There is no best time of day. What matters is picking a day and time you will remember. Many people choose a weekend morning so early side effects fall on days off. You can change your injection day as long as at least 3 days (72 hours) have passed since your last dose.1

Keep pens in a fridge at 2–8°C and never freeze them. Once in use, a pen can stay out of the fridge not above 30°C for up to 30 days, after which it should be discarded. Keep the cap on to protect it from light. For unopened pens, store in the fridge until first use; they keep until the printed expiry date. If an unopened pen has been out of the fridge, check with the pharmacy before using it.13

You can fly with Mounjaro. Carry pens in hand luggage in a cool bag, with the prescription label or a copy of the prescription.13

10 · Who can use it

Who is Mounjaro 2.5mg suitable for?

Mounjaro is licensed for weight management in adults with a BMI of 30 or above, or a BMI between 27 and 30 with at least one weight-related condition such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, obstructive sleep apnoea, cardiovascular disease, prediabetes or type 2 diabetes. It must be used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity.1

A prescriber assesses your BMI, medical history and current medicines before deciding whether it is suitable. It is a prescription-only medicine, supplied only after an online consultation reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber. Mounjaro should not be used if you are allergic to tirzepatide or any of its ingredients, or during pregnancy or while trying to conceive; stop it at least one month before trying to conceive. Your prescriber will take extra care, or may recommend against treatment, if you have a history of pancreatitis, severe gut or digestive disease, diabetic retinopathy, or gallbladder problems. If you become pregnant during treatment, stop the medicine and tell your prescriber promptly. Mounjaro slows stomach emptying, which can reduce how well oral contraceptive pills are absorbed. Switch to a non-oral method, or add a barrier method (such as condoms), for 4 weeks after starting Mounjaro and for 4 weeks after each dose increase. This applies to the pill only.

Mounjaro on the NHS: the honest picture

Mounjaro is available on the NHS, but access is being phased in over several years. NICE recommends it for adults with a BMI of at least 35 plus at least one weight-related condition. The NHS primary-care rollout began in June 2025 with the highest-need groups first, initially BMI 40+ with four or more qualifying conditions.46 Full rollout is expected to take years, which is why many people who meet the licensed criteria choose regulated private treatment rather than waiting. Ask your GP whether you currently qualify.

11 · Avoiding counterfeit pens

How to avoid counterfeit or unsafe sellers

Buy only from a pharmacy you can verify on the GPhC register. Ours is registered as GPhC 9012878, and you can check it on the GPhC public register.12

Be wary of anyone offering to supply without a consultation or prescription, of social-media sellers, and of prices that look far too low. The MHRA publishes counterfeit medicine alerts, and you can report suspected fake pens or any side effect through the Yellow Card scheme.719

Our pens come from official LillyDirect supply, direct from Eli Lilly's UK distribution, as genuine KwikPens. Repeat orders re-check your suitability, and there is no auto-shipping. 12 · Support after ordering

Support once your pen arrives

You are not left to manage the starter dose alone. Our prescribing team provides ongoing monthly reviews, dose-titration and follow-up assessments, plus side-effect support. Over 100,000 customers have been supported on their weight loss journey with us.

Our support team is available Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, by email at support@everydaymeds.co.uk, through account portal chat, or by phone on 0333 207 0413. GLPTrackr, our free companion app for iOS and Android, helps you track injections and progress.

If you want to compare treatments before choosing, our all weight loss treatments page sets out the options we offer.

Your questions, answered

Mounjaro price UK — frequently asked questions

Answers to common questions about Mounjaro prices, NHS access and ongoing treatment.

Ask our pharmacy team
How much is 2.5mg of Mounjaro in the UK?
At EverydayMeds the standard price of one 2.5mg pen (four weekly doses) is £169.99.
Will 2.5mg of Mounjaro do anything?
Yes, but it is mainly an adjustment dose. The first weeks on 2.5mg are about letting your body adjust, and losses are usually modest. Some people notice appetite change early and others feel little until a higher dose, and both are normal. Most measurable progress builds from 5mg onward, month by month.
Will Mounjaro be free for NHS patients in the UK in 2026?
Mounjaro is available on the NHS, but access is being phased in over several years. NICE recommends it for adults with a BMI of at least 35 plus at least one weight-related condition. The primary-care rollout began in June 2025 with the highest-need groups first. Ask your GP whether you currently qualify.
How many units of Mounjaro is 2.5mg?
Units do not apply. The UK Mounjaro KwikPen is a pre-filled pen, not a vial and syringe. You turn the dose knob until the number in the window shows the correct dose, and you never count clicks.
Is 10 units the same as 2.5mg?
No. A unit measurement does not apply to the UK Mounjaro KwikPen, which is set by the dose number shown in its window. Do not convert between units and milligrams. If you are unsure which dose your pen is set to, check the window and contact the pharmacy or your prescriber.
Can you take two 2.5mg pens instead of one 5mg?
We do not support this. It means unknown dosing accuracy and no safety data. Your prescriber will move you to 5mg within the licence.
Can you go from 2.5 to 7.5 on Mounjaro?
Not within the licensed ladder. Everyone starts on 2.5mg, and after at least 4 weeks the dose increases to 5mg. It can then step up by 2.5mg at minimum 4-week intervals. 7.5mg therefore comes after 5mg, and your prescriber guides the pace based on how you tolerate treatment.
What happens if I take two doses of Mounjaro?
Never take two doses within 3 days of each other. If you miss a dose, take it within 4 days (96 hours) of the scheduled time; after that, skip it and take the next on your normal day. If you have taken more Mounjaro than you should, talk to a doctor immediately.
