A quick overview

What to know
before you start.

  • No moringa injection is licensed in the UK for weight loss. Moringa is a supplement, not a regulated weight-loss medicine.
  • Anyone offering to supply a "moringa injection" without a consultation or prescription is a warning sign, not a bargain.
  • Mounjaro (tirzepatide) is the licensed once-weekly injection, supplied only after a consultation reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber.
  • Licensed treatment works alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity; results vary and build over months.
  • A standard 2.5mg starter pen costs £169.99 per month; new customers save £40 on their first order with code FIRST40.

01 · The short answer

Is there a moringa injection for weight loss?

No. Moringa (Moringa oleifera) is a plant used as a powder, tea or capsule. We are not aware of any UK-licensed injectable moringa product, and no regulator has approved moringa as a weight-loss medicine. If a website, social media account or messaging contact is selling a "moringa weight loss injection", you are not looking at a regulated prescription treatment.

People hear about weekly weight-loss pens, hear about moringa as a "natural" alternative, and the two get merged into one product that does not exist in a licensed form. The names are sometimes close enough to confuse: Mounjaro, "moringa", "Majorna" and similar. Our guide to the Majorna injection claims covers a closely related case.

Moringa is also not a stand-in for a medicine. Supplements are cheap and easy to buy without any assessment, but they have no clinical oversight, and their dosing is not standardised. That is a very different position from a licensed injection, which has a defined dose ladder, a patient information leaflet and a prescriber who reviews your response.

02 · What you probably want

The licensed injection people usually mean

Mounjaro is the brand name for tirzepatide, a once-weekly injectable prescription medicine made by Eli Lilly. In the UK it is licensed for weight management in adults and for type 2 diabetes.1 It is supplied only after an online consultation reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber, and it is used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity.

Our Mounjaro pen costs £169.99 per month at the 2.5mg starting dose (standard price). Prices checked 10 October 2026. Across the UK pharmacies we track, Mounjaro pens range from £143.96 to £339.00 per month depending on dose and provider (checked 10 October 2026).

03 · Next step

What to do next

If you were hoping for a natural option, the honest position is that a supplement cannot be presented as equivalent to a licensed treatment. If you want an injection, the safe route is a regulated one: a free online consultation, a prescriber review, and dispensing from a registered pharmacy. You can read how that works on our weight loss clinic page, or compare routes in our guide to buying weight loss injections in the UK.

If you are already taking moringa and are curious about combining it with a prescription, see whether you can take moringa with Mounjaro, and tell your prescriber about any supplement you use. We are registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC 9012878), so you can check our registration yourself.

04 · What moringa is

What moringa is, and what it is not

Moringa is a plant, and the products made from it are food supplements. You will see it sold as leaf powder, as tea and as capsules, often with marketing that calls it a natural route to weight loss. That marketing does not make moringa a medicine.

There is an important difference between a supplement and a licensed medicine. A licensed medicine has been assessed by a regulator for quality, safety and whether it does what it claims, and it carries an official leaflet that tells you who should avoid it, what side effects to expect and how to take it. A supplement sold for general wellbeing has not been through that process for weight management. That is why we describe moringa as a low-cost supplement with no clinical oversight.

Many people ask whether you can lose weight with moringa powder. It is not an approved weight-loss treatment, and the evidence behind it is far less than the evidence behind the licensed medicines. Dramatic weight-loss claims on product pages should be treated with caution, and dosing is not standardised.

It is also worth separating "natural" from "safe" and from "effective". A plant-based product can still interact with other things you take, and it can still cause unwanted effects. If you take medicines for a long-term condition, speak to a pharmacist or your GP before starting any supplement. Mounjaro must not be used during pregnancy, and it should be stopped at least one month before trying to conceive.

Nothing here means moringa is dangerous when used as a food ingredient. The point is narrower: it is not a weight-loss injection, there is no licensed injectable version, and anything presented that way needs to be questioned. If you want the full picture on supplements and prescriptions together, our page on moringa and Mounjaro goes into it.

If you are weighing options because cost is the worry, it is reasonable to ask what a low-cost supplement can realistically deliver. A cheap product that does not change your weight is not good value, however small the purchase. A regulated treatment has a visible price, a prescriber and a review process, so you know what you are paying for.

05 · Why the phrase appears

Why "moringa injections" show up online

The phrase tends to appear where there is demand for weight-loss injections but a lack of clear information. Sellers who cannot supply a licensed medicine sometimes invent a product name that sounds gentle and natural. Others rebrand supplements, or sell vials and pens with no proper labelling. A "moringa weight loss injection" fits that pattern: it borrows the credibility of injectable treatments and the soft image of a plant.

There are a few warning signs worth knowing. A seller offering to supply an injection without a consultation or prescription is not operating like a regulated pharmacy. Dramatic weight-loss claims, vague ingredient lists, no patient information leaflet, and pressure to pay by unusual methods are all red flags. A genuine prescription medicine comes with a prescriber's decision, a label from a dispensing pharmacy and a leaflet.

The MHRA publishes guidance on counterfeit medicine alerts and runs the Yellow Card scheme, where anyone can report suspected side effects or problems with a product.719 If you have already used something sold as an injection and feel unwell, seek medical advice and report it.

Before buying from any online pharmacy, check it is on the GPhC register. Ours is registered as GPhC 9012878 and you can look it up on the regulator's site. A registered pharmacy has an accountable pharmacist and has to follow professional standards, which an anonymous seller does not.

Similar confusion surrounds other weight-loss injection claims, from retro weight loss injection claims to dexpanthenol injection and yohimbine injection claims. In each case the sensible first question is the same: is this a licensed medicine, supplied by a registered pharmacy after a prescriber review?

That question is simple, but it protects you. If the answer is no, the product is not something we would suggest you inject into your body, however natural the name sounds.

06 · How Mounjaro works

How Mounjaro works

Mounjaro is the brand name for tirzepatide, a once-weekly injectable prescription medicine made by Eli Lilly.1 It comes as a pre-filled multi-dose pen (KwikPen) in six strengths: 2.5mg, 5mg, 7.5mg, 10mg, 12.5mg and 15mg. This is a defined, regulated product, which is the opposite of a vaguely described "moringa injection".

Tirzepatide is the first treatment of its kind to activate two natural gut-hormone receptors at once: GIP and GLP-1.2 Together these help regulate appetite, slow how quickly the stomach empties, and improve the way the body responds to insulin. In practice, most people feel fuller sooner and less hungry between meals, which supports a reduced-calorie diet.

This dual action is what distinguishes Mounjaro from single-action GLP-1 medicines such as semaglutide (Wegovy/Ozempic). We do not suggest one is simply better for everyone, since both are licensed treatments with their own trial evidence, and your prescriber can help you decide which suits your situation.

Notice what the mechanism implies. The medicine changes appetite signals; it does not burn fat on its own. That is why it is described as working alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity, not instead of them. Anyone promising effortless results from any injection, licensed or not, is overstating what the science supports.

Tirzepatide has a half-life of about five days, so after a final dose it takes roughly four to five weeks to clear the system. There is no way to speed this up, and nothing needs doing while it clears. This is useful to know if you stop for any reason: the effects do not vanish overnight.

Compare that with a supplement: there is no equivalent defined mechanism, no half-life information on a leaflet and no standard dose. That gap in information is itself informative when you are deciding what to put your trust in.

07 · Dose ladder and pace

The dose ladder and realistic pace

Everyone starts Mounjaro on 2.5mg once a week. This starting dose is about letting your body adjust, not about weight loss itself. After at least 4 weeks the dose increases to 5mg, and can then step up by 2.5mg at a minimum of 4-week intervals (7.5mg, 10mg, 12.5mg) up to a maximum of 15mg weekly, depending on how you respond and tolerate it.1

Many people settle at a maintenance dose of 5mg, 10mg or 15mg. Higher is not automatically better, and your prescriber will guide the right pace. That answers a common question: do some people stay on 2.5mg? The licensed ladder is built so that the dose is set by response and tolerability, and your prescriber decides whether to hold a dose or move on. The starting weeks are an adjustment phase, and most measurable progress builds from 5mg onward.

Weight loss on Mounjaro is gradual by design. The first weeks on 2.5mg are an adjustment phase and losses are usually modest; most measurable progress builds from 5mg onward, month by month. Trials measured results at 72 weeks, so think in months, not days, and judge progress by trend, not individual weigh-ins.2

We do not set a target rate, because individual results vary and early loss includes water weight. What matters is the trend over weeks, reviewed with your prescriber.

Treatment response is reviewed. If you have lost less than 5% of your starting weight after 6 months on the highest dose you can tolerate, your prescriber will discuss whether continuing or stopping is right for you.11

A first year costs £2,711.88 if you stay on 5mg after your 2.5mg starting pen, up to £3,599.88 if you step up through every dose to 15mg, at standard prices before discounts.

Finally, taking doses less often or in smaller amounts than the pen delivers is not a shortcut. Every-other-week dosing is unlicensed and not something we would suggest; talk to your clinical team rather than adjusting doses yourself.

08 · What trials show

What the trial evidence says

Evidence is where a licensed medicine and a supplement differ most. For tirzepatide there are large published trials, the headline one being SURMOUNT-1.2

In the SURMOUNT-1 trial of 2,539 adults, people taking tirzepatide alongside diet and exercise lost on average 15% of their body weight on 5mg, 19.5% on 10mg and 20.9% on 15mg over 72 weeks, compared with 3.1% with lifestyle changes alone. These are trial averages — individual results vary, and treatment works alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity, not instead of them.

At 72 weeks, 85% of participants on 5mg, 89% on 10mg and 91% on 15mg had lost at least 5% of their body weight. Half of participants on 10mg and 57% on 15mg lost at least 20% of their body weight.

As a worked example, for someone starting at 100 kg, 20.9% is about 21 kg. That is arithmetic on a trial average and not a prediction: trial averages do not predict your own result.

Now compare this to moringa. What can be said fairly is that the evidence is far less than for the licensed medicines, and no moringa product has an equivalent licence for weight management.

This is not a claim that nothing natural can ever help with health. It is a claim about what can be promised responsibly. When a product page for a so-called injection quotes dramatic results with no trial name, no leaflet and no prescriber, there is nothing to check the claim against.

If you want to read about how the trial results sit alongside real-life experience, the key point is pace: months, not days. A treatment with proper evidence also tells you to expect gradual change, which is a better sign than a promise of rapid results.

09 · Injecting and storage

Using and storing a licensed pen safely

Mounjaro is injected under the skin (subcutaneously) once a week, on the same day each week, at any time of day, with or without food.1 Licensed injection sites are the stomach area (at least 5cm from the belly button), the front of the thigh, or the back of the upper arm if someone else gives the injection. Rotate the site with each dose. Each KwikPen contains four weekly doses.

There is no "best" time of day — Mounjaro works the same morning or evening, with or without food. What matters is the same day each week. Many people choose a weekend morning so early side effects fall on days off.

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you can within 4 days (96 hours) of the scheduled time, then carry on with your usual day. If more than 4 days have passed, skip the missed dose entirely and take the next one on your normal day — never take two doses within 3 days of each other. You can change your weekly injection day if needed, as long as at least 3 days (72 hours) have passed since your last dose.

Keep Mounjaro pens in a fridge at 2–8°C and never freeze them. Once in use, a pen can be kept out of the fridge not above 30°C for up to 30 days — useful for short trips — after which it should be discarded.13 Keep the pen cap on to protect it from light, and never use a pen that has been frozen.

You can fly with Mounjaro. Carry pens in hand luggage, because hold luggage can fall below freezing, ideally in a cool bag with the prescription label or a copy of your prescription. Unopened pens should be kept in the fridge and keep until the expiry date printed on the box.

All of this detail comes with a real pen, a leaflet and a prescriber's instructions. Needles, a sharps bin and injection guidance are included with every order from us. An unlabelled "moringa injection" offers none of that, which is a practical reason to avoid it, quite apart from the question of whether it could work.

10 · NHS and private

NHS and private access to licensed injections

Mounjaro is available on the NHS, but access is being phased in over several years. NICE recommends it for adults with a BMI of at least 35 plus at least one weight-related condition, and the NHS primary-care rollout began in June 2025 with the highest-need groups first (initially BMI 40+ with four or more qualifying conditions).46 Full rollout is expected to take years, which is why many people who meet the licensed criteria choose regulated private treatment rather than waiting.

The NHS route is worth checking first with your GP, particularly if you have weight-related health conditions. The NHS guide to the medicine is a useful starting point.5 Whichever route you use, the key is that a prescriber assesses you before anything is supplied.

Who should not take Mounjaro? You should not take it if you are allergic to tirzepatide or any of its ingredients, and it should not be used during pregnancy or while trying to conceive. Your prescriber will take extra care, or may recommend against treatment, if you have a history of pancreatitis, severe gut or digestive disease, diabetic retinopathy, or gallbladder problems. Always share your full medical history and medicine list during consultation. Payment is taken when you place the order; if the prescriber decides the treatment is not suitable, the order is refunded automatically in full.

Why is Mounjaro expensive? Eli Lilly increased the UK list price of Mounjaro, as set out in its public statement.10 Pharmacy sell prices vary because of confidential discounts. Across the UK pharmacies we track, the cheapest 2.5mg starting pen is £143.96 and the dearest is £179.99 (checked 10 October 2026).

With the reorder discount, every later order is £25 off the standard price (code DOSE25). We provide Klarna and pay-monthly options, and there are no subscriptions. Repeat orders re-check suitability, with no auto-shipping.

A supplement may look cheaper in the basket, but compare what you receive: a licensed, tested pen supplied from official LillyDirect supply versus a low-cost product with no clinical oversight. If you are ready to see how the process works, our guide to registering online for weight loss injections walks through it.

11 · Serious side effects

Serious side effects: when to get help straight away

Serious side effects are uncommon but need urgent attention. Seek immediate medical help for: severe, persistent stomach pain that may spread to your back, with or without vomiting (possible pancreatitis); pain in the upper right abdomen, fever or yellowing of skin/eyes (possible gallbladder problems); or signs of a severe allergic reaction such as swelling of the face or throat and difficulty breathing. If you take insulin or a sulfonylurea alongside Mounjaro, watch for low blood sugar (shakiness, sweating, confusion) — your prescriber may need to adjust those medicines.1

12 · Ordering safely

How to order a licensed injection safely

Ordering a licensed weight-loss injection online should look like healthcare, not a market stall.

Step one is a free online consultation: a short health questionnaire, with no charge and no obligation. Step two is the prescriber review: your answers are reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber, not a scoring script, and unsuitable orders are refunded automatically. Step three is dispensing and dispatch by our registered pharmacy, with same-day dispatch when ordered by 3pm.

Delivery is free, next-day and tracked with DPD in temperature-controlled, discreet packaging. Saturday delivery is £14.99. The consultation is free, the price shown is the price paid, and there are no hidden fees. All six doses are in stock, and they come through official LillyDirect supply direct from Eli Lilly's UK distribution as genuine KwikPens.

You can verify any pharmacy on the GPhC public register.12 Ours is GPhC 9012878. That check takes moments and filters out the sellers who would offer a "moringa injection" or similar. Our guide to getting a weight loss injection in the UK sets out what a legitimate route looks like.

After ordering, you are not left alone. Aftercare includes ongoing monthly reviews, dose-titration and follow-up assessments by the prescribing team, and side-effect support. Our support team is available Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, by email at support@everydaymeds.co.uk, account portal chat or phone on 0333 207 0413. GLPTrackr, our free companion app for iOS and Android, helps you track your journey.

If you take liraglutide products, note that Saxenda and products such as Erly are supplied at a concentration of 6mg per millilitre and are daily injections, unlike once-weekly Mounjaro. Other unusual claims, like epinephrine injection or carbon dioxide injection, deserve the same scepticism: ask whether it is licensed, who prescribed it and who dispensed it.

Mounjaro is a prescription-only medicine, supplied only after an online consultation reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber. Individual results vary. This page is information, not a substitute for medical advice.

Your questions, answered

Mounjaro price UK — frequently asked questions

Answers to common questions about Mounjaro prices, NHS access and ongoing treatment.

Ask our pharmacy team
Is there a moringa injection for weight loss?
No. We are not aware of any UK-licensed moringa injection, and moringa is not approved as a weight-loss medicine. It is a plant supplement sold as powder, tea or capsules. If someone offers a "moringa weight loss injection" without a consultation or prescription, treat it as a warning sign. The licensed once-weekly injection people usually mean is Mounjaro (tirzepatide), which needs a prescriber-reviewed consultation.
Can you lose weight with moringa powder?
Moringa powder is a supplement, not an approved weight-loss treatment, and the evidence for it is far less than for the licensed medicines. Dramatic weight-loss claims on product pages should be treated with caution, and dosing is not standardised. If you want medical support with weight, a prescriber-reviewed consultation is the safer route, and your GP can also advise you on NHS options.
Who cannot take Mounjaro?
Mounjaro is not suitable for everyone. You should not take it if you are allergic to tirzepatide or any of its ingredients, and it should not be used during pregnancy or while trying to conceive. Mounjaro is licensed for adults, and it is prescription-only.
Why is Mounjaro so expensive?
Eli Lilly increased the UK list price of Mounjaro, as stated in its public statement, and pharmacy sell prices vary because of confidential discounts. Across the UK pharmacies we track, starting pens range from £143.96 to £179.99 per month (checked 10 October 2026). Our standard 2.5mg pen is £169.99 per month.
Do some people stay on 2.5mg Mounjaro?
The 2.5mg dose is the starting dose, and it is about letting your body adjust rather than about weight loss itself. The licensed ladder steps up after at least four weeks depending on how you respond and tolerate it, and many people settle at 5mg, 10mg or 15mg.
Is there a big difference between 2.5mg and 5mg Mounjaro?
The 2.5mg dose is the adjustment phase, so losses in those weeks are usually modest. Most measurable progress builds from 5mg onward, month by month. That does not mean you should rush: the licensed ladder moves up at a minimum of four-week intervals, depending on response and tolerance. Higher is not automatically better, and your prescriber decides the right pace for you.
What is the cheapest price for Mounjaro injections?
Across the UK pharmacies we track, Mounjaro pens range from £143.96 to £339.00 per month depending on dose and provider (checked 10 October 2026). Our standard 2.5mg pen is £169.99 per month. Every later order is £25 off the standard price. Always check the pharmacy is on the GPhC register.
What is the hardest age to lose weight?
Weight is influenced by many things, including health conditions, medicines, sleep and activity, and it varies between individuals. If you are finding weight difficult to manage, speak to your GP or a prescriber. Licensed treatment, where suitable, is used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity, and results vary.
