A quick overview

What to know
before you start.

  • Medical weight loss treatment means a prescriber assessing you, then prescribing a licensed medicine such as Mounjaro alongside diet and activity.
  • You can be assessed online from Aberdeen: a free consultation reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber, with free next-day delivery.
  • NHS access to Mounjaro is being phased in over several years, so many people who meet the licensed criteria consider private treatment.
  • Your first 2.5mg pen is £129.99 with code FIRST40; every later order is £25 off the standard price.
  • In SURMOUNT-1, average loss was 20.9% at 15mg over 72 weeks; individual results vary.

02 · NHS or private

NHS or private treatment in Aberdeen

Mounjaro is available on the NHS, but access is being phased in over several years. NICE recommends it for adults with a BMI of at least 35 plus at least one weight-related condition, and the NHS primary-care rollout began in June 2025 with the highest-need groups first, initially BMI 40+ with four or more qualifying conditions.46 Your GP can tell you where you sit locally.

03 · Ordering

How ordering works

Ordering takes three steps. First, complete a free health questionnaire with no obligation, which a GPhC-registered prescriber then reviews. Second, payment is taken when you place the order; if the prescriber decides the treatment is not suitable, the order is refunded automatically in full. Third, our registered pharmacy dispenses it, with same-day dispatch when ordered by 3pm and free next-day tracked delivery in temperature-controlled packaging. Our supply is official LillyDirect stock, and all six doses are in stock.

04 · What treatment involves

What Mounjaro is and who it is for

Mounjaro is the brand name for tirzepatide, a once-weekly injectable prescription medicine made by Eli Lilly. In the UK it is licensed for weight management in adults and for type 2 diabetes. It comes as a pre-filled multi-dose KwikPen in six strengths: 2.5mg, 5mg, 7.5mg, 10mg, 12.5mg and 15mg.1

It is licensed for adults with a BMI of 30 or above, or a BMI between 27 and 30 with at least one weight-related condition such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, obstructive sleep apnoea, cardiovascular disease, prediabetes or type 2 diabetes. It must be used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity. A prescriber will assess your BMI, medical history and current medicines.1

Tirzepatide activates two gut-hormone receptors, GIP and GLP-1. Together these help regulate appetite, slow how quickly the stomach empties and improve the way the body responds to insulin, so most people feel fuller sooner.1 Compare other approaches in our guides to injectable GLP-1 treatment and medical procedures for weight loss.

05 · What the evidence shows

What results to expect

In the SURMOUNT-1 trial of 2,539 adults, people taking tirzepatide alongside diet and exercise lost on average 15% of their body weight on 5mg, 19.5% on 10mg and 20.9% on 15mg over 72 weeks, compared with 3.1% with lifestyle changes alone.2 For someone starting at 100 kg, 20.9% is about 21 kg.

These are trial averages and individual results vary. At 72 weeks, 85% of participants on 5mg, 89% on 10mg and 91% on 15mg had lost at least 5% of their body weight. Half of participants on 10mg and 57% on 15mg lost at least 20%.2

06 · Living well on treatment

Eating, drinking and exercise on treatment

No food is banned on Mounjaro, but some choices make treatment easier. Prioritise protein at each meal, vegetables, fibre and regular fluids. Very fatty, fried or sugary food and large portions often feel worse because the stomach empties more slowly, so smaller, slower meals work better.

Protecting muscle matters: include protein at every meal and do resistance exercise two or more times a week. Regular moderate activity such as brisk walking is part of the licence, not an optional extra.

Drink enough water, because reduced appetite means less fluid from food and vomiting or diarrhoea can dehydrate you quickly. Serious side effects are uncommon but need urgent attention. Seek immediate medical help for severe, persistent stomach pain that may spread to your back, with or without vomiting (possible pancreatitis); pain in the upper right abdomen, fever or yellowing of the skin or eyes (possible gallbladder problems); or signs of a severe allergic reaction such as swelling of the face or throat and difficulty breathing. If you cannot keep fluids down, get medical help straight away. Coffee and tea are fine. There is no direct interaction with alcohol, but it can hit harder on an emptier stomach. A standard daily multivitamin is a reasonable safety net; discuss anything beyond that with a pharmacist.

Our ongoing monthly reviews, dose titration and side-effect support are included, and the free GLPTrackr app helps you track your journey. More in private weight loss treatment in the UK.

Your questions, answered

Mounjaro price UK — frequently asked questions

Answers to common questions about Mounjaro prices, NHS access and ongoing treatment.

Ask our pharmacy team
What weight loss injections are available on the NHS in Scotland?
Mounjaro is available on the NHS, but access is being phased in over several years, starting with the highest-need groups. NHS access to Wegovy runs through specialist weight-management services; ask your GP. Your GP or local NHS board can confirm what is offered in your area.
Which medical treatment for weight loss suits me?
The right treatment depends on your BMI, health conditions and medicines, which a prescriber assesses. Mounjaro and Wegovy are both licensed options used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and more activity, and your prescriber decides what suits you. Individual results vary.
Where can I get Mounjaro in Aberdeen?
You can ask your GP about NHS access, visit a local private clinic, or have a free online consultation with us, reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber. If approved, your pen is delivered free next-day.
Who qualifies for Mounjaro in Scotland?
Privately, it is licensed for adults with a BMI of 30 or above, or 27 to 30 with a weight-related condition such as high blood pressure or type 2 diabetes. NICE recommends NHS use for BMI of at least 35 plus a weight-related condition, with phased access.
What qualifies you for free Mounjaro in the UK?
NICE recommends it for adults with a BMI of at least 35 plus at least one weight-related condition. The primary-care rollout began in June 2025 with the highest-need groups first, initially BMI 40+ with four or more qualifying conditions. Ask your GP about your position.
What should I avoid while taking Mounjaro?
No food is banned, but very fatty, fried or sugary food and large portions often feel worse. Alcohol can hit harder on an emptier stomach, and with insulin or a sulfonylurea it raises low blood sugar risk. Avoid becoming dehydrated; get medical help straight away if you cannot keep fluids down.
Who should not take Mounjaro?
You should not take Mounjaro if you are allergic to tirzepatide or any of its ingredients, and it should not be used during pregnancy or while trying to conceive. If you become pregnant during treatment, stop the medicine and tell your prescriber promptly. Your prescriber will take extra care, or may recommend against treatment, if you have a history of pancreatitis, severe gut or digestive disease, diabetic retinopathy, or gallbladder problems. Always share your full medical history and medicine list during consultation, including insulin or sulfonylureas, which may need dose adjusting.
What is the cheapest price for Mounjaro injections?
Across the UK pharmacies we track, Mounjaro pens range from £143.96 to £339.00 per month depending on dose and provider (checked 11 October 2026). Our standard prices run from £169.99 to £329.99, and Mounjaro is only supplied after a prescriber review, so the right dose is decided by your prescriber.
What do I eat in a day on Mounjaro?
Aim for protein at every meal, vegetables and fibre, plus regular fluids, in smaller, slower meals. There is no fixed menu, because treatment is licensed alongside a reduced-calorie diet and the aim is a sustainable deficit. Coffee and tea are fine, though high-calorie coffee drinks add calories.
