A quick overview

What to know
before you start.

  • A single shot is a weekly dose from a pen. Pens are sold whole, and each KwikPen contains four weekly doses.
  • The cost per shot at standard prices runs from £42.50 at 2.5mg to £82.50 at 15mg.
  • New customers save £40 on a first order with code FIRST40; later orders are £25 off.
  • A single shot is the start of an adjustment phase, not a result. Think in months, not days.
In this guide

01 · The short answer

What does a single Mounjaro shot cost?

A single Mounjaro shot costs the weekly figure for your dose: £42.50 at 2.5mg, £54.75 at 5mg, £70.00 at 7.5mg, £72.75 at 10mg, £80.00 at 12.5mg and £82.50 at 15mg. These are standard prices before any discount, as of October 2026.

Those weekly figures are simply the pen price divided across the weekly doses inside it. The Mounjaro pen is what you actually buy, and the pen prices are £169.99, £218.99, £279.99, £290.99, £319.99 and £329.99 for the six strengths. Each pen is a four-week supply of weekly doses.

There is no way to purchase a loose injection: each pen is dispensed whole against your own prescription. Mounjaro is a prescription-only medicine, supplied only after an online consultation reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber.1

02 · What you pay for

What the price of a shot includes

The price of a pen covers genuine Mounjaro sourced through official LillyDirect supply, direct from Eli Lilly's UK distribution. It also covers the free online consultation, the prescriber review and free next-day tracked delivery in temperature-controlled packaging. Needles, a sharps bin and injection guidance come with every order. The price shown is the price paid; there are no hidden fees.

Ordering is simple. You complete a short health questionnaire, a GPhC-registered prescriber reviews it, and your order is dispensed by our registered pharmacy. It is dispatched the same day when ordered by 3pm. Payment is taken when you place the order; if the prescriber decides the treatment is not suitable, the order is refunded automatically in full.

03 · Lowering the cost

How discounts change the cost per shot

New customers save £40 on their first order at any dose with code FIRST40, including people switching to us from another provider at a higher dose. Your first 2.5mg pen therefore costs £129.99 (standard price £169.99). Switching at 15mg? Your first order is £289.99.

After that, an automatic £25 reorder discount applies to every future order (code DOSE25). Every later order is £25 off the standard price, so your ongoing cost per shot is a little lower than the standard weekly figures. Klarna and pay-monthly options are available, with no subscription lock-in, and repeat orders re-check suitability rather than auto-shipping.

04 · At a glance

Quick answers about a single shot

QuestionShort answer
Can I buy a single injection? No. Pens are supplied whole, with four weekly doses in each.
What does a shot cost? The weekly figure for your dose, live on the product page.
Will a single shot change my weight? Not in a meaningful way. The starting dose is about adjustment, and results build over months.
Can I stretch a pen for extra doses? No. Each pen is designed and licensed to deliver exactly four weekly doses, and the pen will not dial past what is left inside. Use the pen as designed, then dispose of it.
How long can an in-use pen be kept?Up to 30 days not above 30°C, then discard it.

If you are comparing the cost of a shot with the cost of starting treatment, the cost of a single dose page covers the same ground from the dose angle. For wider support, see our weight loss clinic.

05 · What a pen contains

How many doses does a Mounjaro pen have?

A Mounjaro pen contains four weekly doses. Mounjaro is the brand name for tirzepatide, a once-weekly injectable prescription medicine made by Eli Lilly, and it comes as a pre-filled multi-dose pen (KwikPen) in six strengths: 2.5mg, 5mg, 7.5mg, 10mg, 12.5mg and 15mg.1 Each KwikPen contains four weekly doses.13

The strength on the label is the dose delivered with each weekly injection, not a total for the pen. A pen labelled 5mg delivers that same dose every week until it is empty.

This is why a single shot cannot be bought separately. The medicine is filled into a sealed multi-dose device, and the pen is dispensed to you against your own prescription. The cost of a shot is therefore a simple division of the pen price across its weekly doses, which is why we show weekly figures next to the pen prices.

People often ask whether the pen holds a spare dose. It does not. Each pen is designed to deliver the weekly doses it is labelled for and the dial will not turn past what is left.

The same rule applies at every strength. Whether you hold the lowest or the highest pen, you have four weekly injections to use, taken on the same day each week. A higher strength does not mean more injections; it means more medicine in each injection.

If you want the figure for a particular strength, the page on the 15mg pen confirms the same structure at the top of the ladder.

06 · Cost at each dose

What each dose step costs per shot

The cost per shot rises as you move up the dose ladder, and the standard weekly figures are £42.50, £54.75, £70.00, £72.75, £80.00 and £82.50 from the lowest strength to the highest. All six strengths are in stock, and the live figures are on the Mounjaro pen product page.

Everyone starts Mounjaro on 2.5mg once a week. This starting dose is about letting your body adjust, not about weight loss itself. After at least 4 weeks the dose increases to 5mg, and can then step up by 2.5mg at a minimum of 4-week intervals (7.5mg, 10mg, 12.5mg) up to a maximum of 15mg weekly, depending on how you respond and tolerate it.1

Many people settle at a maintenance dose of 5mg, 10mg or 15mg. Higher is not automatically better, and your prescriber will guide the right pace.11

Your first pen is cheaper than the standard price. With code FIRST40 a new customer saves £40 on the first order, whatever the dose, and every later order is £25 off the standard price. Those savings apply to the pen, so they lower the per-shot cost too.

The right dose is the one your prescriber confirms.

07 · Cost across a course

What shots cost over a month, a titration and a year

Looking at the cost of a single shot is useful, but most people want to know what a course costs, and our figures are set out here at standard prices before discounts. If you step up after 4 weeks on each dose, your first four pens (2.5mg to 10mg) cost £959.96. A new customer's first order is £40 less, and every later order is £25 less.

A first year (13 pens) costs £2,711.88 if you stay on 5mg after your 2.5mg starting pen, up to £3,599.88 if you step up through every dose to 15mg. If you settle at another maintenance dose, the monthly pen price is the figure to plan with: £279.99 at 7.5mg, £290.99 at 10mg and £319.99 at 12.5mg. These monthly prices are not year totals.

You do not pay the same amount every month, because each step up the ladder moves you to a stronger pen.

Ongoing monthly clinical reviews are included, so the cost of the pen is not the only thing you are paying for; dose titration, follow-up assessments and side-effect support come from the prescribing team. You can also track your weekly doses with GLPTrackr, our free companion app for iOS and Android, which makes it easy to see how many shots you have used from the current pen.

For the wider cost context, our page on the cost of one dose sets the weekly figure alongside the monthly one.

08 · Will one shot do anything?

Will a single shot of Mounjaro do anything?

A single shot starts the medicine working, but it will not produce a meaningful result on its own. Weight loss on Mounjaro is gradual by design. The first weeks on 2.5mg are an adjustment phase and losses are usually modest; most measurable progress builds from 5mg onward, month by month.

Tirzepatide is the first treatment of its kind to activate two natural gut-hormone receptors at once: GIP and GLP-1. Together these help regulate appetite, slow how quickly the stomach empties, and improve the way the body responds to insulin. In practice, most people feel fuller sooner and less hungry between meals, which supports a reduced-calorie diet.1

Experiences with the first shot differ widely. Some people notice appetite change and early loss in week one, others feel little until a higher dose, and both are normal. Early loss includes water weight, so the trend over weeks matters more than any single weigh-in. Mild nausea, altered appetite and tiredness in the first days after each injection are the commonest early effects and usually settle. Serious side effects are uncommon but need urgent attention. Seek immediate medical help for: severe, persistent stomach pain that may spread to your back, with or without vomiting (possible pancreatitis); pain in the upper right abdomen, fever or yellowing of skin/eyes (possible gallbladder problems); or signs of a severe allergic reaction such as swelling of the face or throat and difficulty breathing.

The trial evidence is built on sustained treatment, not a lone injection. In the SURMOUNT-1 trial of 2,539 adults, people taking tirzepatide alongside diet and exercise lost on average 15% of their body weight on 5mg, 19.5% on 10mg and 20.9% on 15mg over 72 weeks, compared with 3.1% with lifestyle changes alone. These are trial averages, individual results vary, and treatment works alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity, not instead of them.2

So think in months, not days, and judge progress by trend. Your prescriber reviews your response: if you have lost less than 5% of your starting weight after 6 months on the highest dose you can tolerate, they will discuss whether continuing or stopping is right for you.11

A single shot is also not a trial run you can pay for in isolation. Because treatment is a weekly routine, the helpful question is not whether one injection works, but whether the whole plan suits you. The medicine stays in the body for a while, since tirzepatide has a half-life of about five days, so after a final dose it takes roughly four to five weeks to clear the system, and nothing needs doing while it clears.1 If you want to read about how long each injection lasts, see how long a shot lasts.

09 · Storage and travel

How long a pen lasts, storage and travel

Keep Mounjaro pens in a fridge at 2–8°C and never freeze them. Once in use, a pen can be kept out of the fridge not above 30°C for up to 30 days, useful for short trips, after which it should be discarded. Keep the pen cap on to protect it from light, and never use a pen that has been frozen.13

A pen cannot be used after 30 days (not above 30°C) in use. Beyond it, sterility and potency are no longer assured, so the pen should be discarded even if some liquid appears to remain.

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you can within 4 days (96 hours) of the scheduled time, then carry on with your usual day. If more than 4 days have passed, skip the missed dose entirely and take the next one on your normal day. Never take two doses within 3 days of each other.13 You can also change your weekly injection day if needed, as long as at least 3 days (72 hours) have passed since your last dose.

You can fly with Mounjaro. Carry pens in hand luggage, because hold luggage can fall below freezing, ideally in a cool bag with the prescription label or a copy of your prescription. In-use pens tolerate up to 30 days not above 30°C, so most holidays need no special arrangements; for hot climates use an insulated pouch. Check destination rules for travelling with prescription injectables before you fly.1

Unopened pens should be kept in the fridge and keep until the expiry date printed on the box. If an unopened pen has been out of the fridge, check with the pharmacy before using it rather than relying on a remembered day limit, because figures circulating online often come from other countries' labels. The patient information leaflet is the reference to follow.

What if the pen was not refrigerated at all? Do not guess. Contact the pharmacy, describe how long and where it was kept, and follow their advice before injecting.

A final point on resale: Mounjaro is supplied on prescription for you. Do not sell or pass on unused pens. Anyone offering to supply without a consultation or prescription is a safety risk, and counterfeit alerts are published by the MHRA.7

10 · NHS and private prices

NHS access and how private prices compare

Mounjaro is available on the NHS, but access is being phased in over several years. NICE recommends it for adults with a BMI of at least 35 plus at least one weight-related condition, and the NHS primary-care rollout began in June 2025 with the highest-need groups first (initially BMI 40+ with four or more qualifying conditions). Full rollout is expected to take years, which is why many people who meet the licensed criteria choose regulated private treatment rather than waiting.46

If you are eligible through the NHS, speak to your GP or local service about timing. If you choose to pay privately, the cost of a shot depends on the pharmacy and the dose, so it is worth comparing like with like. Across the UK pharmacies we track, Mounjaro pens ranged from £143.96 to £339.00 per month across all doses and providers, as of 11 October 2026.

For the starting pen, the cheapest and dearest 2.5mg pens we track cost £143.96 and £179.99. For the same dose, the gap between providers ranges from £27 to £41. Boots' Mounjaro dose prices run from £179.00 to £339.00. Our own pens are priced live, so the figures on the product page are the ones to use.

When comparing, check what is included. A lower pen price can come with extra charges for consultation or delivery, whereas our consultation is free, delivery is free and next-day tracked, and the price shown is the price paid. Saturday delivery costs £14.99.

Safety matters as much as price. Always buy from a pharmacy registered with the GPhC; ours is GPhC 9012878, and you can check the register yourself. The MHRA publishes counterfeit medicine alerts, and any seller offering Mounjaro without a consultation or prescription should be avoided.7 Genuine pens come through official supply routes, and ours are sourced through LillyDirect.

If you want help deciding whether private treatment suits you, our weight loss clinic page explains how the service works, and the UK pen guide covers the pen itself in more depth.

11 · How to order

How ordering a pen works

Ordering a pen takes a short online consultation, and you pay only once a prescriber approves it. The steps are simple, and the free consultation carries no charge and no obligation.

First, you complete a short health questionnaire. Second, a GPhC-registered prescriber reviews it. This is a clinical review, not a scoring script. Payment is taken when you place the order; if the prescriber decides the treatment is not suitable, the order is refunded automatically in full. Third, our registered pharmacy dispenses your pen, with same-day dispatch when ordered by 3pm. Finally, your order arrives by free next-day tracked delivery (DPD, temperature-controlled packaging, discreet).

Mounjaro (tirzepatide) is a prescription-only medicine, supplied only after an online consultation reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber. It is used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity. Individual results vary.1

You can pay by Visa or Mastercard, or use Klarna or pay-monthly options; there are no subscriptions. Repeat orders re-check suitability, and nothing is shipped automatically, so you stay in control of when each pen arrives. This matters for the cost of a shot, because you only pay for the pen you actually need next.

Once treatment is under way, the prescribing team provides ongoing monthly reviews, dose titration and follow-up assessments, plus side-effect support. Our support team is available Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, by email at support@everydaymeds.co.uk, through the account portal chat or by phone on 0333 207 0413.

Dispensed prescription medicines cannot be returned, except if they are faulty, damaged or the wrong item, in which case contact us within 3 days. Declined consultations are refunded in full. If you are ready, the Mounjaro pen — prices and consultation page shows the live price for every dose and starts your consultation. This page is information, not a substitute for medical advice.

Your questions, answered

Mounjaro price UK — frequently asked questions

Answers to common questions about Mounjaro prices, NHS access and ongoing treatment.

Ask our pharmacy team
How much is one shot of Mounjaro?
A single weekly shot costs £42.50 at the 2.5mg starting dose and up to £82.50 at 15mg, at standard prices as of October 2026. You cannot buy a single injection on its own, because each pen holds four weekly doses and is sold whole. New customers save £40 on the first order with code FIRST40, and later orders are £25 off.
How many doses does a Mounjaro pen have?
Each Mounjaro KwikPen contains four weekly doses, whichever of the six strengths you hold. The strength on the label is the dose in each weekly injection, not a total for the pen. Higher strengths hold more medicine per dose, not more doses.
How many clicks does a Mounjaro pen make?
You should not count clicks at all. The KwikPen is set by turning the dose knob until the dose indicator shows the correct dose in the window, and you confirm the dose by the number shown there.
Will one shot of Mounjaro do anything?
A single shot begins the medicine's action but will not deliver a meaningful result alone. The starting dose of 2.5mg is about letting your body adjust, not about weight loss itself, and most measurable progress builds from 5mg onward, month by month. Some people notice appetite change in week one, others little until a higher dose. Both are normal, so judge progress by trend, not any single weigh-in.
Why can't you use Mounjaro after 30 days?
Once in use, a pen can be kept out of the fridge not above 30°C for up to 30 days, after which it should be discarded. Beyond that tested window, sterility and potency are no longer assured, even if liquid seems to remain. A pen used weekly holds four doses, so it should be finished well within the window. Keep the cap on to protect it from light, and never use a frozen pen.
What happens if Mounjaro isn't refrigerated?
It depends on whether the pen is in use. Unopened pens should be kept in the fridge at 2–8°C and keep until the printed expiry date. If an unopened pen has been out of the fridge, check with the pharmacy before using it rather than relying on a remembered day limit, because figures online often come from other countries' labels. In-use pens tolerate up to 30 days not above 30°C.
How quickly does Mounjaro start working?
Mounjaro begins acting after the first injection, but the visible effect is gradual. The first weeks on 2.5mg are an adjustment phase and losses are usually modest. Some people notice appetite change in week one, others feel little until a higher dose. Most measurable progress builds from 5mg onward, month by month. Trials measured results at 72 weeks, so think in months, not days, and individual results vary.
Can I sell my unused Mounjaro?
No. Mounjaro is a prescription-only medicine, supplied only after an online consultation reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber, and it is dispensed for the person named on the prescription. Do not sell or pass on unused pens. If you no longer need a pen, ask your pharmacy how to dispose of it safely, and avoid anyone offering to supply without a consultation or prescription.
