How early can you order your next Mounjaro pen?

You should order your next pen before your current one runs out, with enough margin for a prescriber to review your order and for delivery. Each repeat order is a clinical decision rather than an automatic top-up. Repeat orders re-check suitability, and nothing is shipped on auto-renewal.

A sensible habit is to reorder when you are on your last two doses of the pen. That leaves a buffer if a prescriber has a question about how you are getting on. Orders placed by 3pm are dispatched the same day, and delivery is free, next-day and tracked in temperature-controlled packaging. How ordering works, step by step

Ordering has four stages, and the prescriber review is the one that decides timing. Allow for it rather than assuming same-hour approval.

• Free online consultation: a short health questionnaire with no charge and no obligation.
• Prescriber review: your order is reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber. Payment is taken when you place the order; if the prescriber decides the treatment is not suitable, the order is refunded automatically in full.

03 · Pen life and storage

Why a pen lasts four doses and 30 days (not above 30°C) once in use

Each Mounjaro KwikPen is designed and licensed to deliver exactly four weekly doses.¹ Once in use, a pen can be kept out of the fridge at a temperature not above 30°C for up to 30 days after first use, and must then be thrown away.¹³ That is why a pen cannot be stretched to eight weeks: the number of doses and the in-use window are both set by the licence.

Unopened pens belong in the fridge until first use and keep until the printed expiry date. For any question about how long an unopened pen can be unrefrigerated, check the patient information leaflet and ask the pharmacy rather than guessing.¹³

Do not use a pen that has been frozen, looks cloudy or discoloured, has particles in it, or is past its expiry. The solution should be clear and colourless.¹³ If packaging or supply seems wrong, contact the pharmacy before injecting.

04 · Why stockpiling does not help

Can you get a three-month supply or stretch pens?

Ordering a larger stock does not change how Mounjaro must be used, and whether a bigger order is suitable is for the prescriber to decide. Three months is roughly three pens at the same dose, each with four weekly doses, and each can be kept out of the fridge not above 30°C for up to 30 days once in use. Each order is still reviewed, because suitability, tolerability and your current dose are re-checked.

Mounjaro is licensed as a once-weekly medicine, and its blood levels are designed around a 7-day cycle. Talk to your clinical team rather than self-adjusting.

05 · Switching or pausing

Switching provider, running late or stopping

If you move to us from another provider, you can start a consultation whenever you are ready; a new customer's first order is £40 less at any dose. If supply is delayed, see whether Mounjaro is on back order. If you have already missed a dose or are unsure when to inject, speak to your prescriber before doing anything different.

Thinking of stopping after two weeks? That is a decision to take to your prescriber. Tirzepatide has a half-life of about five days, so after a final dose it takes roughly 4 to 5 weeks to clear the system. There is no way to speed this up, and nothing needs doing while it clears.¹

Ordering safely: avoiding fake pens

The MHRA has seized thousands of fake weight-loss pens in the UK and has issued alerts after falsified Mounjaro pens were identified. Some contained insulin rather than tirzepatide, and fake pens have caused hospitalisations.⁷ Only buy from a pharmacy you can verify on the GPhC register, never from social media, beauty salons or unverified websites.¹² Genuine treatment always involves a prescription and a clinical consultation.

Pressure to buy lots of pens "in advance" from a seller offering to supply without a consultation or prescription is a warning sign. Genuine UK stock comes through Lilly's official distribution to licensed pharmacies, and every pen carries a batch number and expiry date you can check.
