hCG Injections Weight Loss Reviews: An Honest Read (October 2026)

hCG injection reviews are personal accounts, not clinical evidence, and most describe the injection alongside a very restrictive diet, so a reviewer cannot tell which one did the work. We do not supply hCG. For weight management, the licensed route we offer is Mounjaro, with trial results behind it. Read reviews as stories, then check the evidence.

A quick overview

What to know
before you start.

  • Reviews of hCG are individual stories; they cannot show that the injection caused any weight change.
  • A review that bundles an injection with a strict diet cannot separate the two effects.
  • We do not supply hCG.
  • Mounjaro is licensed for weight management in adults and has published trial data, with individual results varying.
  • If you are unsure about any weight-loss product, ask a GPhC-registered pharmacist or your GP before buying.
In this guide

01 · The core answer

What hCG injection reviews can and cannot tell you

Reviews tell you how one person felt about their experience; they cannot tell you whether a product works. A glowing diary entry and an angry forum post are both single cases, written by people who chose to write them.

None of these is a controlled comparison. Most mix several changes at once: an injection, a new eating plan, more attention to food and often a clinic's coaching. A reviewer who loses weight cannot say which change did it.

02 · What to do next

The decision you are actually facing

Most people reading reviews want to know whether to try something for weight loss and where to buy it safely. Two questions help you decide.

  • Is the product licensed for weight management in the UK? Mounjaro is licensed for weight management in adults.1 Ask any seller of anything else to show you what it is licensed for.
  • Will a prescriber assess you first? Prescription medicines should only be supplied after a proper consultation. A seller offering to supply without a consultation or prescription is a red flag.

If you are weighing up a prescription route, our page on prescription hCG injections for weight loss explains what to ask.

03 · Why reviews mislead

Why reviews of weight-loss injections mislead

Reviews are shaped by who writes them. People with a dramatic result post eagerly, and people who saw nothing often just stop. The picture you see is skewed before you read a word.

There are other problems too:

  • Bundled changes. Where an injection comes with a strict eating plan, the plan may account for the change on the scale.
  • Early water weight. Quick early drops on the scale can be mostly water, so a short before-and-after says little about lasting change.
  • Commercial incentives. Some clinic pages and affiliate sites are written to sell. A five-star score on a seller's own site is marketing, not review.
  • No follow-up. Few reviewers report back after they stop, so you rarely learn what happened afterwards.

Our companion guide on the benefits of hCG injections for weight loss looks at the claims sellers tend to make, and it is worth reading alongside any review you find.

04 · What licensed evidence looks like

What licensed evidence looks like instead

Licensed medicines come with trials that compare a treatment against a control group, measured over a set period. That design is what lets researchers separate the medicine from everything else.

For Mounjaro (tirzepatide), the main trial is SURMOUNT-1. In the SURMOUNT-1 trial of 2,539 adults, people taking tirzepatide alongside diet and exercise lost on average 15% of their body weight on 5mg, 19.5% on 10mg and 20.9% on 15mg over 72 weeks, compared with 3.1% with lifestyle changes alone.2 These are trial averages, and individual results vary. Treatment works alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity, not instead of them.2

This is the difference between a review and evidence: a control group, a defined duration and published results anyone can check. It does not make Mounjaro right for everyone, and a prescriber still decides whether it suits you.

05 · Realistic pace

What a realistic pace looks like

Weight loss on Mounjaro is gradual by design. The first weeks on 2.5mg are an adjustment phase and losses are usually modest. Most measurable progress builds from 5mg onward, month by month.1

Trials measured results at 72 weeks, so think in months, not days, and judge progress by trend rather than individual weigh-ins. Treatment response is reviewed by your prescriber: if you have lost less than 5% of your starting weight after 6 months on the highest dose you can tolerate, your prescriber will discuss whether continuing or stopping is right for you.1

Any review promising rapid results over a few weeks should make you cautious, because Mounjaro does not work that way.

06 · Buying safely

Buying weight-loss injections safely

Check that the seller is a registered pharmacy and that a prescriber reviews you before supply. You can look up any UK pharmacy on the GPhC register; ours is GPhC 9012878.12

Warning signs include sellers offering prescription injections without a consultation or prescription, unusually dramatic claims, and no way to contact a pharmacist. The MHRA publishes counterfeit medicine alerts and runs the Yellow Card scheme for reporting suspected side effects.7

If you are comparing sellers, see our page on how to buy hCG injections for weight loss for what to check before you pay anything.

07 · Older reviews

Why older reviews are weak guides

Many reviews you find were written years ago, in a different regulatory and pricing climate. Our page on hCG injections for weight loss from 2017 covers why dated material should be treated carefully.

Products, rules and the licensed alternatives have changed since then. Where Mounjaro is concerned, the NHS picture is also evolving: Mounjaro is available on the NHS, but access is being phased in over several years. NICE recommends it for adults with a BMI of at least 35 plus at least one weight-related condition, and the NHS primary-care rollout began in June 2025 with the highest-need groups first (initially BMI 40+ with four or more qualifying conditions).4 Full rollout is expected to take years, which is why many people who meet the licensed criteria choose regulated private treatment rather than waiting.6

08 · If you choose Mounjaro

If you decide to look at Mounjaro

Mounjaro is a once-weekly injectable prescription medicine, supplied here only after a free online consultation reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber. Payment is taken when you place the order; if the prescriber decides the treatment is not suitable, the order is refunded automatically in full.

Everyone starts on 2.5mg once a week. This starting dose is about letting your body adjust, not about weight loss itself. After at least 4 weeks the dose can step up, depending on how you respond and tolerate it.1 If you want to know what injecting involves, our guide on how to administer injections for weight loss is a gentle introduction, though Mounjaro's own pen instructions and leaflet apply to Mounjaro.

Ongoing monthly reviews and side-effect support are included, and delivery is free next-day tracked. Mounjaro (tirzepatide) is a prescription-only medicine used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity. Individual results vary, and this page is information, not a substitute for medical advice.

09 · Serious side effects

Serious side effects: when to get help straight away

Serious side effects are uncommon but need urgent attention. Seek immediate medical help for: severe, persistent stomach pain that may spread to your back, with or without vomiting (possible pancreatitis); pain in the upper right abdomen, fever or yellowing of skin/eyes (possible gallbladder problems); or signs of a severe allergic reaction such as swelling of the face or throat and difficulty breathing. If you take insulin or a sulfonylurea alongside Mounjaro, watch for low blood sugar (shakiness, sweating, confusion) — your prescriber may need to adjust those medicines.1

Your questions, answered

Mounjaro price UK — frequently asked questions

Answers to common questions about Mounjaro prices, NHS access and ongoing treatment.

Ask our pharmacy team
How much weight can you lose on hCG in a short course?
Reviews quote very different numbers and usually involve a strict diet at the same time. For licensed treatment, results are measured over months, and individual results vary.
Is hCG better than semaglutide?
Semaglutide (Wegovy) is a licensed weight-management medicine with published trial evidence, such as STEP 1. Both Mounjaro and Wegovy are effective, licensed treatments; which suits you depends on your health profile, tolerance and prescriber advice.
Can you buy hCG over the counter or online?
We do not supply hCG, so we cannot advise on its sale. Be wary of any seller offering to supply a prescription medicine without a consultation or prescription. Check the seller on the GPhC register, and ask a pharmacist if you are unsure what you are being offered.
What are the risks of taking hCG?
Speak to your GP or a registered pharmacist before using any injection not prescribed for you, and report suspected side effects through the Yellow Card scheme. For any injection, severe, persistent stomach pain, swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat, or difficulty breathing needs medical help straight away.
Do the NHS prescribe hCG?
We do not supply hCG, so ask your GP what NHS weight-management support is available to you; Mounjaro is available on the NHS, but access is being phased in over several years.
