  • Mounjaro is licensed for weight management in adults who meet the BMI criteria, and has published trial results.

  • A free consultation is reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber, who decides whether treatment is suitable.
In this guide

01 · The honest answer

Before you consider hCG for weight loss

If a clinic quotes you a figure, ask where it comes from, which trial, and whether the medicine is licensed for weight management.

If you already take or are offered hCG, talk to your GP or a pharmacist before you start or continue. Our guides on prescription hCG injections and hCG weight loss clinics cover what to ask a provider.

02 · A licensed option

A licensed alternative: what Mounjaro offers

Mounjaro (tirzepatide) is a once-weekly injection licensed in the UK for weight management in adults and for type 2 diabetes.1 It activates two gut-hormone receptors, GIP and GLP-1, which help regulate appetite and slow how quickly the stomach empties. Most people feel fuller sooner and less hungry between meals, which supports a reduced-calorie diet.1

Question to askMounjaro
Licensed for weight management in the UK?Yes, for adults meeting the BMI criteria1
Named trial results?SURMOUNT-1: 2,539 adults, 72 weeks2
Average loss on 5mg / 10mg / 15mg15% / 19.5% / 20.9%, versus 3.1% with lifestyle changes alone; results vary2
Dose schedule set out in product information?Yes: start at 2.5mg weekly, then step up after at least 4 weeks to a maximum of 15mg1
Prescriber review?Yes, by a GPhC-registered prescriber

Your first 2.5mg pen costs £129.99 with code FIRST40 (standard price £169.99), and all six doses are in stock. After that, every later order is £25 off the standard price (code DOSE25).

03 · Getting started

How ordering works

Ordering takes three steps, and the consultation is free with no obligation.

  • Free online consultation: a short health questionnaire, start your free consultation whenever you are ready.
  • Prescriber review: a GPhC-registered prescriber reviews it. Payment is taken when you place the order; if the prescriber decides the treatment is not suitable, the order is refunded automatically in full.
  • Dispatch and delivery: same-day dispatch when ordered by 3pm, then free next-day tracked delivery in temperature-controlled packaging.

Every order includes needles, a sharps bin and injection guidance. We supply genuine KwikPens through official LillyDirect supply, sourced directly from Eli Lilly.

04 · Judging weight-loss claims

How to judge any weight-loss injection claim

Treat a claim as credible only when you can trace it to a named trial, a stated duration and a licensed use. For Mounjaro, SURMOUNT-1 followed 2,539 adults for 72 weeks and compared tirzepatide with lifestyle changes alone.2

Be wary of promises about days or weeks. Trial averages do not predict your own result, and treatment works alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity, not instead of them.2

Dramatic weight-loss claims, testimonials and before-and-after photos tell you nothing about how a medicine performs across thousands of people. If you are comparing sellers, read our overview of hCG injection providers with that checklist in mind.

05 · Realistic pace of results

What a realistic pace looks like

Weight loss on Mounjaro is gradual by design, so think in months, not days. The first weeks on 2.5mg are an adjustment phase and losses are usually modest. Most measurable progress builds from 5mg onward, month by month.

Early loss includes water weight, so the trend over weeks matters more than any single weigh-in. Some people notice appetite change in week one, others feel little until a higher dose, and both are normal. Mild nausea, altered appetite and tiredness in the first days after each injection are the commonest early effects and usually settle.

As a worked example only, for someone starting at 100 kg, 20.9% is about 21 kg, the SURMOUNT-1 average at 15mg over 72 weeks. Individual results vary, and 85% of people on 5mg, 89% on 10mg and 91% on 15mg lost at least 5% of their body weight.2

Your prescriber reviews your response. If you have lost less than 5% of your starting weight after 6 months on the highest dose you can tolerate, they will discuss whether continuing or stopping is right for you.1

06 · Who is eligible

Who Mounjaro is licensed for

Mounjaro is licensed for adults with a BMI of 30 or above, or a BMI between 27 and 30 with at least one weight-related condition. Examples include high blood pressure, high cholesterol, obstructive sleep apnoea, cardiovascular disease, prediabetes or type 2 diabetes. It must be used with a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity.1 A prescriber assesses your BMI, medical history and current medicines first.

It is also available on the NHS, but access is being phased in over several years. NICE recommends it for adults with a BMI of at least 35 plus at least one weight-related condition, and the primary-care rollout began in June 2025 with the highest-need groups first.46 Many people who meet the licensed criteria choose regulated private treatment rather than wait.

07 · Safety and reporting

Safety, supply and reporting side effects

Only buy prescription injections from a pharmacy that is on the GPhC register, and be cautious of anyone offering to supply without a consultation or prescription. You can check our registration on the GPhC register.12

The MHRA publishes counterfeit medicine alerts, and you can report any suspected side effect through the Yellow Card scheme.719 This applies to any medicine, including ones you buy elsewhere. Our guide to buying hCG injections explains why sourcing matters. For injection technique questions on other products, see how to administer hCG injections; for Mounjaro, we include injection guidance with every order.

Mounjaro (tirzepatide) is a prescription-only medicine, supplied only after an online consultation reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber. Individual results vary. This page is information, not a substitute for medical advice.

For how to give an injection safely, you can also read how to give hCG injections, and ask a prescriber whether any product is right for you.

08 · Serious side effects

Serious side effects: when to get help straight away

Serious side effects are uncommon but need urgent attention. Seek immediate medical help for: severe, persistent stomach pain that may spread to your back, with or without vomiting (possible pancreatitis); pain in the upper right abdomen, fever or yellowing of skin/eyes (possible gallbladder problems); or signs of a severe allergic reaction such as swelling of the face or throat and difficulty breathing. If you take insulin or a sulfonylurea alongside Mounjaro, watch for low blood sugar (shakiness, sweating, confusion) — your prescriber may need to adjust those medicines.1

Your questions, answered

Mounjaro price UK — frequently asked questions

Answers to common questions about Mounjaro prices, NHS access and ongoing treatment.

Ask our pharmacy team
Can hCG hormone help with weight loss?
If you are considering it, speak to your GP or a pharmacist. A licensed option with published trial results is Mounjaro, assessed through a free consultation.
How much weight can you lose on hCG in 21 days?
For a licensed comparison, Mounjaro's trials measured results over 72 weeks, not days. Weight loss on it is gradual, so think in months and judge progress by trend rather than single weigh-ins.
Is hCG better than semaglutide?
Semaglutide (Wegovy) and tirzepatide (Mounjaro) are both licensed weight-management medicines. Tirzepatide activates two gut-hormone receptors, GIP and GLP-1, while semaglutide is single-action. A prescriber can advise which suits you.
Why do bodybuilders take hCG?
We do not supply hCG or give guidance on its use in bodybuilding. Anyone considering a hormone product for performance or body composition should speak to their GP, who can assess risks for their circumstances.
How often should a man inject hCG?
We do not supply hCG, so we give no hCG dosing. Dosing should come from a prescriber who has assessed you. For comparison, Mounjaro is injected once weekly, on the same day each week, at any time of day.
Is hCG better than TRT?
These are questions for your GP or a specialist, who can review your history and bloods. Our service covers weight loss, sexual health, hair loss and acid reflux treatments, all reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber.
Can you build muscle on hCG?
Weight-loss medicines work alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity. If body composition is your goal, discuss it with your GP or a prescriber.
What are the risks of taking hCG?
We do not supply hCG. Ask a prescriber or pharmacist before using it, and report any suspected side effect through the MHRA Yellow Card scheme. Any unlicensed or unregulated source adds further uncertainty about what you are actually injecting.
