01 · The price
How much does GLP-1 weight loss treatment cost in the UK?
The Mounjaro pen costs £169.99 per month at the 2.5mg starting dose. Each pen is a four-week supply. Your monthly bill then follows the dose you are prescribed: £218.99 at 5mg, £279.99 at 7.5mg, £290.99 at 10mg, £319.99 at 12.5mg and £329.99 at 15mg. Those are standard prices. Per week they work out at £42.50 at 2.5mg and £82.50 at 15mg. All six doses are in stock.
Across the UK pharmacies we track, the cheapest and dearest Mounjaro pen at any dose run from £143.96 to £339.00. For the 2.5mg starting pen alone the range is £143.96 to £179.99, checked 11 October 2026. For the same dose, the gap between one provider and another runs from £27 to £41. Boots' Mounjaro prices run from £179.00 to £339.00 across its doses. Comparing the same dose between providers is the only fair way to judge price.
02 · What you pay for
What the price includes
The consultation is free, and the price shown is the price paid, with no hidden fees. Payment is taken when you place the order; if the prescriber decides the treatment is not suitable, the order is refunded automatically in full. Delivery is free next-day tracked delivery in temperature-controlled packaging, and we dispatch the same day when you order by 3pm. Saturday delivery is £14.99. Needles, a sharps bin and injection guidance come with every order, and ongoing monthly reviews are part of the service.
Supply is official LillyDirect supply: Mounjaro direct from Eli Lilly's UK distribution, in genuine KwikPens. Paying for a verified supply chain and clinical follow-up is a different purchase from paying the lowest sticker price on an unchecked website.
03 · Saving money
Discounts and ways to pay
New customers save £40 on their first order at any dose with code FIRST40. That includes people switching to us from another provider at a higher dose. An automatic £25 reorder discount applies to every future order (code DOSE25). So your first 2.5mg pen costs £129.99 with code FIRST40 (standard price £169.99). Switching at 15mg? Your first order is £289.99. Every later order is £25 off the standard price. You can pay by Visa or Mastercard, Klarna or pay-monthly options. There are no subscriptions, and repeat orders re-check suitability rather than shipping automatically. Our full list of current offers is on the Mounjaro discount code page.
04 · How to order
How ordering works
Ordering takes three steps. First, start your free consultation, a short health questionnaire with no charge and no obligation. Second, a GPhC-registered prescriber reviews it. Unsuitable orders are refunded automatically. Third, our registered pharmacy dispenses and dispatches your pen, delivered next day in discreet cold-chain packaging. Support is available Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, on 0333 207 0413 or at support@everydaymeds.co.uk.
05 · What you are paying for
What a GLP-1 medicine is and why it costs what it does
GLP-1 weight loss medicines are prescription injections or tablets that act on gut-hormone pathways involved in appetite. Mounjaro is the brand name for tirzepatide, a once-weekly injectable prescription medicine made by Eli Lilly. In the UK it is licensed for weight management in adults and for type 2 diabetes.1 It comes as a pre-filled multi-dose pen, the KwikPen, in six strengths: 2.5mg, 5mg, 7.5mg, 10mg, 12.5mg and 15mg.
Tirzepatide activates two natural gut-hormone receptors at once, GIP and GLP-1. Together these help regulate appetite, slow how quickly the stomach empties and improve the way the body responds to insulin. In practice most people feel fuller sooner and less hungry between meals, which supports a reduced-calorie diet.1 That dual action distinguishes Mounjaro from single-action GLP-1 medicines such as semaglutide (Wegovy and Ozempic).
This matters for price because you are not buying a one-off product. You are buying a course of weekly doses. Each pen holds exactly four weekly doses, so one pen is one four-week block, and the monthly price is the price of that pen. The price rises with the dose, so the steps you take matter as much as the starting price.
The headline figure on a competitor page is rarely the whole story. A low starting-dose price tells you little about what you will pay at higher doses. When comparing, always line up the same dose between providers. Then check what the price includes: consultation, prescriber review, delivery, needles, a sharps bin and follow-up. Our GLP-1 drugs price guide sets out the other medicines in the class alongside Mounjaro.
It is also worth separating the medicine from the lifestyle programme around it. Mounjaro is used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity, not instead of them.1 The pen supports appetite control. The food and movement habits you build during treatment are what you keep afterwards, and they cost nothing extra to start working on from your first week.
Finally, remember that a prescriber decides the dose, not you or the price list. Dose increases happen when the prescribing team judges you ready, so a cost plan should be flexible rather than fixed to the cheapest pen.
06 · Year-cost planning
What a first year of GLP-1 treatment costs
A first year of Mounjaro costs £2,711.88 at standard prices if you settle at 5mg, and up to £3,599.88 if you settle at 15mg. A year here means 52 weeks, which is 13 pens. Those totals are before discounts: a new customer's first order is £40 less, and every later order is £25 less than the standard price.
Titration is the most predictable part of the bill. If you step up after 4 weeks on each of 2.5mg, 5mg, 7.5mg and 10mg, your first four pens cost £959.96 at standard prices. Not everyone climbs all four steps in that time, and not everyone needs to. Your prescriber reviews your response and tolerability each month and decides whether to step up or hold the dose.
If you settle at a different maintenance dose, work from the monthly price instead of looking for a year figure. At 7.5mg a pen is £279.99, at 10mg it is £290.99 and at 12.5mg it is £319.99. Multiply by the number of pens you expect to need, then remember each later order is £25 off.
Here is a simple way to plan. Treat the first few months as a starting cost. Then pick the dose your prescriber suggests as your likely maintenance level and price it per month. Add a margin for a possible step up or down. Treatment may not run for a year, and it may run longer. Your prescriber reviews it as you go, so avoid committing to a number you cannot revisit.
Spreading the cost can help. We accept Klarna and pay-monthly options, and there are no subscriptions, so you can pause between orders. Nothing ships automatically, and repeat orders re-check suitability.
Weigh the cost against your own situation. People with a weight-related condition may find the clinical picture matters more than the sticker price, and your prescriber can talk through whether treatment is right at all. The GLP-1 injection cost guide has more on how pen prices compare, and our GLP-1 cost overview covers the wider picture.
One last planning point is stopping. Budget for the end of treatment as well as the start.
07 · Who can be prescribed
Who can be prescribed GLP-1 weight loss treatment
Mounjaro is licensed for weight management in adults with a BMI of 30 or above, or a BMI between 27 and 30 with at least one weight-related condition. Qualifying conditions include high blood pressure, high cholesterol, obstructive sleep apnoea, cardiovascular disease, prediabetes or type 2 diabetes.1 It must be used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity.
A prescriber assesses your BMI, medical history and current medicines before deciding whether it is suitable. This is why the consultation is free: its purpose is a clinical decision, not a sales step. It is reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber, not a scoring script. Payment is taken when you place the order; if the prescriber decides the treatment is not suitable, the order is refunded automatically in full.
Eligibility affects cost in a simple way. If you do not meet the licensed criteria, no honest provider should supply Mounjaro, however much you are prepared to pay. If you do meet them, the question becomes which dose and how long.
Medicines and conditions matter too. Mounjaro slows stomach emptying, which can reduce how well oral contraceptive pills are absorbed. Switch to a non-oral method, or add a barrier method (such as condoms), for 4 weeks after starting Mounjaro and for 4 weeks after each dose increase.7 If you take insulin or sulfonylureas, doses may need adjusting because of the risk of low blood sugar. That is something to raise with the prescriber, who can plan around it rather than treating it as a barrier.
Is GLP-1 treatment safe? It is a prescription-only medicine, supplied only after a consultation, because it is not right for everyone. You should not take Mounjaro if you are allergic to tirzepatide or any of its ingredients. It must not be used during pregnancy, and it should be stopped at least one month before trying to conceive. If you become pregnant during treatment, stop the medicine and tell your prescriber promptly. Your prescriber will take extra care, or may recommend against treatment, if you have a history of pancreatitis, severe gut or digestive disease, diabetic retinopathy, or gallbladder problems. Like all medicines, Mounjaro can cause side effects, and most are digestive: the most common, affecting more than 1 in 10 people, are nausea, diarrhoea, vomiting, constipation and abdominal discomfort.13 Report anything unexpected to your prescriber and through the Yellow Card scheme.19
If you are under the BMI thresholds, the answer is not to look for a seller who will skip the questions. Speak to your GP about weight support that fits you. If you are over them, a consultation takes only a few minutes, and the prescriber will tell you plainly whether Mounjaro suits your circumstances. Eligibility is also reviewed again with each repeat order, so your clinical picture is kept current throughout treatment.
08 · Results to expect
What results the cost might buy
In the SURMOUNT-1 trial of 2,539 adults, people taking tirzepatide alongside diet and exercise lost on average 15% of their body weight on 5mg, 19.5% on 10mg and 20.9% on 15mg over 72 weeks, compared with 3.1% with lifestyle changes alone.2 These are trial averages, and individual results vary. Treatment works alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity, not instead of them.
The same trial reports how many people reached certain thresholds. At 72 weeks, 85% of participants on 5mg, 89% on 10mg and 91% on 15mg had lost at least 5% of their body weight. Half of participants on 10mg and 57% on 15mg lost at least 20%.2
To make the percentages concrete, for someone starting at 100 kg, 15% is about 15 kg and 20.9% is about 21 kg. That is simple arithmetic on the trial averages and not a prediction for you. Trial averages do not predict your own result.
People often ask how much weight you can lose in three months. The reported trial results cover 72 weeks, and early weeks on low starting doses are slower, so think in months rather than days. Early weeks are spent on low starting doses, which are designed to let your body adjust. Your prescriber reviews progress monthly, and the dose and pace are set around you.
Is it possible to lose weight without GLP-1 medication? Yes. In SURMOUNT-1 the comparison group made lifestyle changes alone and lost 3.1% on average.2 Diet and activity are part of every licensed course of treatment. Medication is an option for those who meet the criteria and want extra appetite support, not the only route. A GP, a structured weight-management programme or a dietitian are all legitimate places to start, and your prescriber can discuss them with you.
You can follow your own progress, doses and symptoms in GLPTrackr, our free companion app for iOS and Android. For more numbers, see GLP-1 statistics.
09 · NHS and private
NHS or private: how the cost picture differs
Mounjaro is available on the NHS, but access is being phased in over several years. NICE recommends it for adults with a BMI of at least 35 plus at least one weight-related condition.4 The NHS primary-care rollout began in June 2025 with the highest-need groups first, initially BMI 40+ with four or more qualifying conditions.6 Full rollout is expected to take years, which is why many people who meet the licensed criteria choose regulated private treatment rather than waiting.
The cost difference is straightforward. NHS prescriptions in England carry the standard £9.90 charge per item, unless you are exempt. Private treatment is paid for in full, at the price of the dose you are prescribed. There is a trade-off: the NHS route costs far less but depends on meeting the local criteria and on when your area reaches your group. Private treatment is available to anyone the prescriber judges suitable under the licence.
The two routes are not mutually exclusive in terms of decision-making. Ask your GP whether you are likely to qualify and when. If the answer is a long wait, a private course in the meantime is a personal decision, and a prescriber will review your suitability either way. Be sure to tell your GP about any medicine you take privately so that your records are complete.
Wegovy sits slightly differently. NHS access to Wegovy runs through specialist weight-management services, so ask your GP. A first Wegovy pen from us is £99.99 on a first order. Read the label facts before comparing: Wegovy's pens are 0.25mg, 0.5mg, 1mg, 1.7mg and 2.4mg once weekly. The dose steps up after at least four weeks, reaching the 2.4mg maintenance dose from week 17, which is the licensed maintenance dose for weight management.18 You can see the current Wegovy pen price on its product page.
Wegovy and Mounjaro are different medicines, so no single one is best for everyone. Compare the monthly cost of the dose you would actually take, and make the choice with your prescriber based on suitability. Only the SURMOUNT-5 trial supports a direct tirzepatide-versus-semaglutide comparison, and your prescriber can discuss it with you.15
Daily liraglutide products such as Saxenda are supplied at 6mg per millilitre, and they are a daily injection, unlike once-weekly Mounjaro and Wegovy. Figures for them vary, so your prescriber can advise.
10 · Tablets and other GLP-1s
GLP-1 tablets, supplements and other options
GLP-1 treatment is not only injections. Oral options now exist, including Wegovy tablets (oral semaglutide) and Foundayo (orforglipron), each with its own prescribing information.2021 For a plain-English overview, see our guide to oral GLP-1 weight loss, and our oral and injection options guide sets them side by side.
Do not compare tablet and injection trial results as if they were head to head. They are different studies, with different people, designs and durations, and they cannot be set side by side fairly. Price and convenience are the sensible comparisons: a weekly pen against a tablet routine, and a monthly pen price against the price shown for the tablet.
You may also see the phrase "poor man's Ozempic" or "nature's Ozempic" used for supplements such as berberine. These are low-cost supplements with no clinical oversight, available cheaply without assessment. Dosing is not standardised, and the dramatic weight-loss claims in their marketing are not the same thing as licensed medicine. They are not medicines and are not regulated for this use. If a supplement tempts you because of cost, speak to a pharmacist first, particularly if you take other medicines.
What about the lowest-cost way to get GLP-1 medicines safely? The honest answer is: from a regulated source, with the discounts that apply. For many people that means asking your GP about NHS access, then comparing the same dose across verified UK pharmacies. Our weight loss treatments page lists every option we offer.
Is GLP-1 cheaper with a prescription? A prescription is not optional. These are prescription-only medicines, so any seller offering to supply without a consultation or prescription is not operating legally. The prescription is what makes the product safe, and the free consultation means it adds nothing to your cost with us.
11 · Cheap and fake pens
Why the cheapest offer can cost you more
The MHRA has seized thousands of fake weight-loss pens in the UK and has issued alerts after falsified Mounjaro pens were identified.7 Fake pens have caused hospitalisations, and some contained insulin rather than tirzepatide. Only buy from a pharmacy you can verify on the GPhC register, never from social media, beauty salons or unverified websites.12 Genuine treatment always involves a prescription and a clinical consultation. Our registration is GPhC 9012878, and you can look it up on the public register.
Genuine UK stock is supplied through Lilly's official distribution to licensed pharmacies, and every pen carries a batch number and expiry date that can be checked. A genuine pen comes from a registered pharmacy, arrives cold-chain packaged, and the solution inside is clear and colourless.13 Do not use a pen that has been frozen, looks cloudy or discoloured, has particles in it, is past its expiry, has been above 30°C, or has been out of the fridge for more than 30 days in use. If supply or packaging ever seems wrong, check the pharmacy on the GPhC register and contact the pharmacy before injecting.
Each KwikPen is designed and licensed to deliver exactly four weekly doses. Use the pen as designed, then dispose of it.
If a price looks far below what the live market shows, ask why. Anything well outside the range across the UK pharmacies we track deserves a closer look at who is selling and how.
Safe cost-saving is dull but effective: compare the same dose between verified providers and use any new-customer and reorder discounts that apply.
12 · Stopping treatment
What happens to cost and weight if you stop
If you stop Mounjaro, it takes roughly 4 to 5 weeks to clear your system. Tirzepatide has a half-life of about five days. There is no way to speed this up, and nothing needs doing while it clears.1 That is a useful fact for budgeting: your last pen's effect fades gradually rather than stopping overnight.
Many people want to know whether they can stop without gaining weight. In SURMOUNT-4, people who stopped tirzepatide after 36 weeks regained on average 14% of body weight over the following year, while those who continued treatment lost a further 5.5% on average. Stopping should always be planned with your prescriber, with diet and activity habits ready to carry the load.14
If cost is what is driving you to stop, plan it with your prescriber rather than self-adjusting.
Because there are no subscriptions with us, you can pause between orders. Repeat orders re-check suitability, and monthly reviews give you a natural point to discuss whether to continue, step down or stop. Aftercare includes dose-titration, follow-up assessments and side-effect support from the prescribing team.
A practical way to plan an exit is to start the work early. While you are on treatment and your appetite is quieter, build the routines you will need later: regular meals you can sustain, a realistic activity habit, and a way of tracking your weight. GLPTrackr can help with that. You will then be stopping from a position of established habits rather than relying on the medicine alone.
Finally, if you decide to restart after a break, tell your prescriber. Your dose may need to be reviewed rather than resumed where you left off, and a new consultation checks that your circumstances have not changed.
Treatment is a medical decision with a financial side, not the other way round. Keep your prescriber involved at each step, whether you are increasing, reducing or ending.
How ordering works
How ordering works at EverydayMeds
Three steps, with our pharmacy team alongside you.
Step 1: Online consultation — 5–10 minutes
Complete a confidential health questionnaire covering BMI, medical history and current medication. No payment is taken until you're approved.
Step 2: Prescriber review — usually same day
A UK registered prescriber checks your suitability against the licensed criteria (BMI ≥30, or ≥27 with a weight-related condition) and contraindications, and confirms your starting dose.
Step 3: Next-day tracked delivery
Dispensed by our GPhC-registered pharmacy in temperature-controlled packaging with needles and a sharps bin included. Orders approved by 3pm for next-day tracked delivery.
Prescription and dispatch follow clinical approval. Confirm current delivery options when ordering.
Afterwards you're not on your own: dose-change reviews are built in before each step up, our pharmacist team is available for side-effect questions, and repeat orders re-check suitability rather than auto-shipping.
