A quick overview

What to know
before you start.

  • Standard Mounjaro pens run from £169.99 (2.5mg) to £329.99 (15mg) per month; each pen is four weekly doses.
  • Across the UK pharmacies we track, the same dose can differ by £27 to £41 between providers.
  • If you step up after 4 weeks on each dose, your first four pens (2.5mg to 10mg) cost £959.96 at standard prices, before discounts.
  • A first year costs £2,711.88 if you settle at 5mg, up to £3,599.88 at 15mg, before discounts.
  • A low price is not a reason to trust a supplier: only buy from a GPhC-registered pharmacy after a prescriber-reviewed consultation.

01 · The short answer

How much do GLP-1 drugs for weight loss cost in the UK?

Most UK adults who buy GLP-1 treatment privately are choosing between two once-weekly injections: Mounjaro (tirzepatide) and Wegovy (semaglutide). The Mounjaro pen costs £169.99 per month at the 2.5mg starting dose at standard price, and £329.99 at 15mg. Each pen holds four weekly doses, so the monthly figure is the cost of one pen.

Your first 2.5mg pen costs £129.99 with code FIRST40 (standard price £169.99). New customers save £40 on a first order at any dose, so someone switching to us at 15mg pays £289.99 for that first pen. After that, every later order is £25 off the standard price with code DOSE25, applied automatically. The full list of current discount codes is on its own page.

The Wegovy pen works the same way: your first pen is £99.99 on a first order.

02 · Compare

GLP-1 and other weight loss options compared

Liraglutide (Saxenda and similar)Daily injection, 6mg per millilitreFigures vary; your prescriber can advise
Over-the-counter supplementsCapsules or powders, dosing is not standardisedLow-cost supplement, no clinical oversight

A low upfront cost does not make something good value. Supplements sold as "nature's Ozempic" are not GLP-1 medicines, are available cheaply without assessment, and carry none of the prescriber review that GLP-1 treatment involves.

03 · Budgeting

What GLP-1 treatment costs over a year

Plan around the dose you will settle on, not the starter price. Mounjaro starts at 2.5mg; if you step up after 4 weeks on each dose, your first four pens (2.5mg to 10mg) cost £959.96 at standard prices. Your first order is £40 less, and every later order is £25 less.

Over a first year (52 weeks, 13 pens) the total is £2,711.88 if you settle at 5mg, up to £3,599.88 at 15mg, again before discounts. If you settle at 7.5mg, 10mg or 12.5mg, your monthly cost is £279.99, £290.99 or £319.99 respectively at standard prices.

The per-week equivalents are £42.50 at 2.5mg and £82.50 at 15mg. Payment is by Visa, Mastercard, Klarna or pay-monthly options, and there are no subscriptions, so you can pause between orders.

04 · NHS or private

NHS or private: what is realistic?

Mounjaro is available on the NHS, but access is being phased in over several years. NICE recommends it for adults with a BMI of at least 35 plus at least one weight-related condition. The primary-care rollout began in June 2025 with the highest-need groups first, initially BMI 40+ with four or more qualifying conditions.46 Full rollout is expected to take years, which is why many people who meet the licensed criteria choose regulated private treatment rather than waiting. NHS access to Wegovy runs through specialist weight-management services; ask your GP.

The NHS prescription charge in England is £9.90 per item where it applies, but it does not apply to private prescriptions. Our consultation is free, and the price shown is the price paid with no hidden fees.

05 · Comparing UK prices

How to compare GLP-1 prices across UK pharmacies

Compare the same dose, the same medicine and the total you pay, not the headline starter price. Across the UK pharmacies we track (checked 12 October 2026), a Mounjaro pen costs between £143.96 and £339.00 depending on dose and provider. The cheapest and dearest 2.5mg starting pens are £143.96 and £179.99.

For the same dose, the gap between providers ranges from £27 to £41. That is a real difference over a year of repeat orders, so it is worth checking, but only among registered pharmacies.

Boots' Mounjaro dose prices in our index run from £179.00 to £339.00. If you want to see how we sit on cost, our page on what GLP-1 drugs cost and the GLP-1 weight loss cost guide go into more detail.

Check the following before you pay anywhere:

  • Is the pharmacy on the GPhC register, and is a prescriber reviewing your consultation?
  • Is the dose price for one four-week pen, or a bundle of several?
  • Are delivery and consultation included in the price shown?
  • Does the price rise when you move to the next dose?

06 · What we include

What the price includes with EverydayMeds

The price you see covers the medicine, the prescriber review and delivery. We are a GPhC-registered UK online pharmacy (registration 9012878), and our Mounjaro comes through official LillyDirect supply, direct from Eli Lilly's UK distribution. All six doses from 2.5mg to 15mg are in stock.

Delivery is free, next-day and tracked by DPD in temperature-controlled packaging. Orders placed by 3pm are dispatched the same day. Saturday delivery costs £14.99. Needles, a sharps bin and injection guidance come with every order.

Ongoing monthly reviews, dose-titration and follow-up assessments by the prescribing team are part of the service, with side-effect support Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. Repeat orders re-check suitability, and there is no auto-shipping, so nothing ships that you have not chosen. Our free GLPTrackr app helps you log your journey on iOS and Android.

07 · How much weight

How much weight can you lose on a GLP-1 drug?

People taking tirzepatide alongside diet and exercise lost on average 15% of their body weight on 5mg, 19.5% on 10mg and 20.9% on 15mg over 72 weeks, compared with 3.1% with lifestyle changes alone.2 These are trial averages; individual results vary, and treatment works alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity, not instead of them.

As a worked example, for someone starting at 100 kg, 20.9% is about 21 kg. At 72 weeks, 85% of participants on 5mg, 89% on 10mg and 91% on 15mg had lost at least 5% of their body weight. Half of participants on 10mg and 57% on 15mg lost at least 20%.2

The trial reports results over 72 weeks, with average loss building month by month. Your prescriber can discuss realistic expectations at your monthly reviews.

Tirzepatide activates two gut-hormone receptors at once, GIP and GLP-1, which helps regulate appetite and slows how quickly the stomach empties. Most people feel fuller sooner and less hungry between meals.1

08 · Who can have it

Which GLP-1 is right for me, and who is eligible?

Eligibility is decided by a prescriber, not by price or preference. Mounjaro is licensed for weight management in adults with a BMI of 30 or above, or a BMI between 27 and 30 with at least one weight-related condition such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, obstructive sleep apnoea, cardiovascular disease, prediabetes or type 2 diabetes. It must be used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity.1

A prescriber will assess your BMI, medical history and current medicines before deciding whether it is suitable. That is why our consultation is free and carries no obligation, and why unsuitable orders are refunded automatically.

Choosing between brands is partly about format. Mounjaro and Wegovy are both once-weekly injections, while liraglutide is a daily injection. Wegovy's pens step up after at least four weeks from 0.25mg to the 2.4mg maintenance dose, reached from week 17.18 Oral options exist too; see our guide to oral GLP-1 drugs for weight loss. If you want to understand where other approaches fit, read about alternatives to GLP-1 drugs.

Tablets such as Wegovy tablets and Foundayo have their own product pages and licensed information.

09 · Cheap and fake pens

Why the cheapest GLP-1 is not always the safest

An unusually low price is a warning sign, not a bargain. The MHRA has seized thousands of fake weight-loss pens in the UK and has issued alerts after falsified Mounjaro pens were identified. Fake pens have caused hospitalisations, and some contained insulin rather than tirzepatide.7

Only buy from a pharmacy you can verify on the GPhC register, never from social media, beauty salons or unverified websites.12 Genuine treatment always involves a prescription and a clinical consultation, so be wary of anyone offering to supply without a consultation or prescription.

Genuine UK stock is supplied through Lilly's official distribution to licensed pharmacies, and every pen carries a batch number and expiry date that can be checked. A genuine pen arrives cold-chain packaged, and the solution inside is clear and colourless. Do not use a pen that has been frozen, looks cloudy or discoloured, has particles in it, is past its expiry, has been above 30°C, or has been in use for more than 30 days.

If supply or packaging ever seems wrong, check the pharmacy on the GPhC register and contact the pharmacy before injecting. Suspected side effects or fake products can be reported through the Yellow Card scheme.19

10 · Saving money safely

Ways to cut cost safely

The safe levers are the discounts and comparing registered providers. Use the new-customer discount on your first order, and the automatic reorder discount after that.

11 · How ordering works

How to order GLP-1 treatment from us

Ordering takes three steps. If you are ready, start your free consultation.

  • Free online consultation: a short health questionnaire, no charge and no obligation.
  • Prescriber review: reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber, not a scoring script. Payment is taken when you place the order; if the prescriber decides the treatment is not suitable, the order is refunded automatically in full.
  • Dispatch and delivery: dispensed by our registered pharmacy, with same-day dispatch when ordered by 3pm and free next-day tracked delivery.

Dispensed prescription medicines cannot be returned except if faulty, damaged or the wrong item, which you should report within 3 days. Refunds take 5 to 10 working days. You can also browse all weight loss treatments.

Mounjaro (tirzepatide) is a prescription-only medicine, supplied only after an online consultation reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber. Individual results vary. This page is information, not a substitute for medical advice.

12 · Stopping treatment

What happens if you stop taking a GLP-1?

Mounjaro manages weight; it does not cure the biology behind it. In SURMOUNT-4, people who stopped tirzepatide after 36 weeks regained on average 14% of body weight over the following year, while those who continued treatment lost a further 5.5% on average. Stopping should always be planned with your prescriber, with diet and activity habits ready to carry the load. Tirzepatide has a half-life of about five days, so after a final dose it takes roughly 4 to 5 weeks to clear the system. There is no way to speed this up, and nothing needs doing while it clears.1

Because the medicine works alongside a reduced-calorie diet and more physical activity, those habits are the part you keep. Our aftercare includes monthly reviews and follow-up assessments, so a stop or a move to a lower dose can be planned rather than improvised.

Mounjaro slows stomach emptying, which can reduce how well oral contraceptive pills are absorbed. If you take insulin or sulfonylureas, doses may need adjusting to avoid low blood sugar. The SmPC advises switching to a non-oral method, or adding a barrier method (such as condoms), for 4 weeks after starting Mounjaro and for 4 weeks after each dose increase.1

13 · Serious side effects

Serious side effects: when to get help straight away

Serious side effects are uncommon but need urgent attention. Seek immediate medical help for: severe, persistent stomach pain that may spread to your back, with or without vomiting (possible pancreatitis); pain in the upper right abdomen, fever or yellowing of skin/eyes (possible gallbladder problems); or signs of a severe allergic reaction such as swelling of the face or throat and difficulty breathing. If you take insulin or a sulfonylurea alongside Mounjaro, watch for low blood sugar (shakiness, sweating, confusion) — your prescriber may need to adjust those medicines.1

Your questions, answered

Mounjaro price UK — frequently asked questions

Answers to common questions about Mounjaro prices, NHS access and ongoing treatment.

Ask our pharmacy team
How much does GLP-1 for weight loss cost?
Mounjaro pens cost £169.99 per month at 2.5mg up to £329.99 at 15mg at standard prices, and each pen is four weekly doses. A new customer's first order is £40 less with code FIRST40, and every later order is £25 less. Prices checked 12 October 2026.
How much does GLP-1 medication cost in the UK?
Across the UK pharmacies we track, a Mounjaro pen costs between £143.96 and £339.00 depending on dose and provider (checked 12 October 2026). For the same dose, providers can differ by £27 to £41. Compare the same dose and make sure the pharmacy is on the GPhC register.
What is the cheapest GLP-1 for weight loss?
Price depends on the medicine, the dose and the provider. Across the UK pharmacies we track, the cheapest 2.5mg Mounjaro starting pen is £143.96 and the dearest £179.99 (checked 12 October 2026). Cheapest only matters if the supplier is a GPhC-registered pharmacy with a prescriber review, because very low prices can signal fake pens.
How much is a 3 month supply of Ozempic?
Ozempic is semaglutide licensed for type 2 diabetes only; it is not a UK weight-loss medicine, and a regulated UK pharmacy will not supply it for weight loss. The licensed weight-management options are Mounjaro (tirzepatide) and Wegovy (semaglutide 2.4mg); your prescriber can advise.
How much weight can you lose on GLP-1 in 3 months?
Three months in, most people are still on the lower rungs of the dose ladder, so trial-average losses at this stage are modest compared with the headline figures. In SURMOUNT-1, average weight loss built month by month, with the full 15–21% averages measured at 72 weeks, not 12. A sensible 3-month expectation on a standard titration is mid single digits as a percentage of body weight, with wide individual variation. Slower early progress does not predict failure.
Where can I buy GLP-1 drugs for weight loss?
Buy only from a pharmacy you can verify on the GPhC register, after a clinical consultation and prescriber review. We are GPhC-registered (9012878) and supply Mounjaro through official LillyDirect supply. Avoid social media sellers, beauty salons and unverified websites, because the MHRA has seized fake pens.7
Is GLP-1 available in Boots?
Boots does offer Mounjaro, and its dose prices in our index run from £179.00 to £339.00 per month (checked 12 October 2026). Check Boots directly for current prices and requirements, since they can change. Our own pens are shown live on the Mounjaro product page.
Can you buy a weight loss drug over the counter?
No over-the-counter product works like a prescription GLP-1 medicine. Supplements are low-cost with no clinical oversight, and their dosing is not standardised. GLP-1 treatment needs a consultation and a prescriber's review. If you are not eligible or prefer other routes, see our guide to alternatives to GLP-1 drugs.
Is GLP-1 safe?
GLP-1 medicines are licensed prescription treatments, and a prescriber assesses your BMI, medical history and current medicines before deciding whether one is suitable. Counterfeit pens are a serious risk: some fakes contained insulin rather than tirzepatide, so only buy from a pharmacy you can verify on the GPhC register. Report any side effect through the Yellow Card scheme and discuss new symptoms with your prescriber.19
