GLP-1 Reviews and Complaints: What People Praise, What They Dislike (October 2026)
GLP-1 reviews and complaints split into two groups: licensed prescription medicines such as Mounjaro and Wegovy attract praise for appetite control and weight loss, and complaints about side effects, cost and ongoing support, while over-the-counter 'GLP-1' supplements attract complaints about not working. Supplements are not equivalents of prescribed treatment.13 Current as of October 2026.

A quick overview
What to know
before you start.
-
Reviews of licensed GLP-1 medicines and reviews of 'natural GLP-1' supplements describe completely different products and should never be read together.
-
The most common complaints about prescription treatment are stomach-related effects, cost and patchy aftercare, so check what support a provider includes.
-
Supplements sold as natural GLP-1 boosters are not equivalents and are not substitutes for prescribed treatment.
-
Star ratings alone cannot tell you whether a provider is safe: check the GPhC register and whether a prescriber reviews you.
-
Report any suspected side effect through the Yellow Card scheme; it helps regulators spot patterns.

01 · The short version
What GLP-1 reviews and complaints actually say
Reviews of prescription GLP-1 treatment are mostly positive about results and mostly critical about side effects, cost and support. Reviews of supplements using the 'GLP-1' label are mostly critical about results, because they are not the same kind of product. The first step is working out which one a review is about.
A GLP-1 receptor agonist is a medicine that acts on a natural gut hormone pathway. Mounjaro goes further: tirzepatide activates two gut-hormone receptors at once, GIP and GLP-1, which together help regulate appetite, slow how quickly the stomach empties and improve how the body responds to insulin.1 A capsule, powder or sachet sold online under a similar name does not do this. Supplements sold as 'natural GLP-1 boosters' are not equivalents and are not substitutes for prescribed treatment.13
| Type of product | Typical praise | Typical complaint | What to remember |
|---|---|---|---|
| Prescription GLP-1 medicines (Mounjaro, Wegovy) | Reduced appetite, feeling full sooner, meaningful weight loss alongside diet and activity | Stomach side effects, cost, patchy follow-up, plateaus | Prescription-only, reviewed by a prescriber, results vary |
| Brand-name 'GLP-1' supplements (Max, Elevate, Peak, SOS, moringa blends and similar) | Low cost, easy to buy, no appointment | No noticeable effect, difficult refunds, dramatic claims that do not hold up | Low-cost supplement, no clinical oversight, not equivalent to prescribed treatment |
| Provider and pharmacy reviews | Fast delivery, helpful staff | Slow replies, unclear charges, unexpected delays | Check the GPhC register and what is included before ordering |
02 · Your next step
What to do with this information
If you are weighing up a licensed medicine, the question is whether the side effects, cost and commitment suit you. If you are weighing up a supplement, the question is whether you are comfortable paying for something that does not do what the label suggests. For most readers who want a clinically meaningful result, the route is a consultation with a prescriber.
You can read how our weight loss clinic works, or see current prices and start a free consultation on the Mounjaro pen page. Prices there are checked 10 October 2026. A GPhC-registered prescriber reviews every consultation, and unsuitable orders are refunded automatically.
03 · What reviewers praise
What reviewers praise about GLP-1 medicines
The most consistent praise is about appetite. Most people feel fuller sooner and less hungry between meals, which supports a reduced-calorie diet.1 Reviewers often describe the quieter 'food noise' and smaller portions as the biggest change.
The second area is the scale of weight loss. The clinical evidence behind those reviews is worth reading in its own words. In the SURMOUNT-1 trial of 2,539 adults, people taking tirzepatide alongside diet and exercise lost on average 15% of their body weight on 5mg, 19.5% on 10mg and 20.9% on 15mg over 72 weeks, compared with 3.1% with lifestyle changes alone.2 These are trial averages. Individual results vary, and treatment works alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity, not instead of them.2
That is why a review claiming a huge result should be read as one person's outcome, not a prediction for you. Trial averages do not predict your own result, and the reverse is also true: a disappointing review is not a prediction either.
Reviewers with type 2 diabetes also talk about blood sugar. Mounjaro is licensed for both weight management and type 2 diabetes in the UK, so these reviews can be genuine, but your own prescriber is the person to say what applies to you.1
Finally, convenience features in many positive reviews. Mounjaro is a once-weekly injection in a pre-filled multi-dose pen, which many people find easier to live with than a daily routine. Liraglutide products are a daily injection, unlike once-weekly Mounjaro and Wegovy.
04 · Common complaints
The most common complaints, and what sits behind them
Complaints about prescription treatment fall into a few themes: how it feels, what it costs, and how well the provider supports you. Each deserves a straight answer.
Stomach-related effects. Because these medicines slow how quickly the stomach empties, large portions sit heavily. Many people feel worse after very fatty, fried or very sugary food, and smaller, slower meals work better.1 Early side effects can be worst around injection days, and lighter movement still counts on those days.1 Side effects are most likely when starting treatment or moving up a dose, and for most people they ease within days to a few weeks as the body adjusts.13
Dehydration. Reduced appetite means less fluid from food, and vomiting or diarrhoea can dehydrate you quickly, which is the main route to the rare kidney problems reported with this class. If nausea or vomiting is persistent or you cannot keep fluids down, contact your clinical team — dehydration needs prompt attention.
Muscle loss and 'looking drawn'. Some of any rapid weight loss comes from lean tissue. Adequate protein at every meal and resistance exercise on a regular basis are the two levers that protect muscle, and this matters more as the dose rises and appetite falls.1
Cost. Price complaints are common because private treatment is paid for by the patient. Across the UK pharmacies we track, a Mounjaro pen ranges from £143.96 to £339.00 per month depending on dose and provider, checked 10 October 2026.
Weak aftercare. Treatment involves stepping the dose up over time, so a provider that disappears after dispatch is a genuine problem. Ask what monthly reviews, dose-titration support and side-effect help are included.
If you experience something concerning, you can report a suspected side effect through the Yellow Card scheme.19
05 · Supplement reviews
GLP-1 supplements: Max, Elevate, Peak, SOS, moringa and 'all in one' blends
Reviews of products named GLP-1 Max, GLP-1 Elevate, Peak GLP-1, GLP-1 SOS, moringa blends and multi-ingredient 'all in one' formulas describe supplements, not medicines.
Supplements sold as 'natural GLP-1 boosters' are not equivalents and are not substitutes for prescribed treatment.13 They are low-cost supplements with no clinical oversight, no prescriber review and no standardised dosing. A capsule or sachet does not work through the same pathway as a prescribed pen, and the trial results quoted for prescription medicines do not transfer to them.
The pattern in complaints about these products is predictable. Marketing makes dramatic weight-loss claims, buyers notice little change, and refund routes turn out to be awkward. Because supplements are not assessed against a prescriber's judgement of your health, interactions and suitability are never checked.
Some supplements are also sold in sachet form, which people confuse with prescription products. Our explainer on GLP-1 sachets covers what they are and are not.
A separate point: oral supplements, like other oral products, may be absorbed more slowly once you start treatment.13 If you are on prescribed treatment, no supplement is required, but a standard daily multivitamin is a reasonable safety net while eating less. Discuss anything beyond that with a pharmacist.13
Red flags in any supplement listing include 'doctor approved' language with no named doctor, claims of matching prescription results, and fake countdown timers. Treat these as reasons to look elsewhere.
06 · Judging providers
Which GLP-1 sites are legit?
A legitimate UK provider of prescription GLP-1 medicines is registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council and has a prescriber review your answers before anything is dispensed. You can check any pharmacy on the GPhC public register.12 Ours is GPhC 9012878.
Beyond registration, a few practical checks separate genuine services from risky ones:
- Anyone offering to supply a prescription medicine without a consultation or prescription is not operating legitimately.
- Prices far below the rest of the market deserve suspicion. Counterfeit pens have been the subject of regulator alerts, so check the MHRA guidance.7
- Look for clear supply information. We supply genuine KwikPens through official LillyDirect supply, direct from Eli Lilly's UK distribution.
- Check what is included: delivery, injection guidance, a sharps bin and ongoing reviews.
- Look for a named support route you can actually reach.
Provider-specific pages can help you compare how different services present themselves. You may find our notes on Gala, Veracity, Crewel and Zen useful as a starting point, though you should always check the current service yourself.
07 · Reading star ratings
How to read a review without being misled
A review tells you what happened to one person at one dose with one provider. It does not tell you what will happen to you. A few habits make reviews far more useful.
Separate the product from the service. A complaint about late delivery says nothing about the medicine, and a complaint about nausea says nothing about the pharmacy. Many ratings blend the two.
Look at the dose and timing. Treatment starts low and steps up. Side effects and results at the starter dose differ from those at maintenance, so a review without a dose or stage is hard to use.
Be wary of before-and-after claims. Treatment works alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity, and people differ in how closely they follow both. Photos rarely show that context.
Notice what a complaint is really about. 'It stopped working' can mean a plateau, a missed dose, a dose that has not yet stepped up, or unrealistic expectations. 'It made me sick' may relate to eating large or fatty meals, or to rising too fast through the dose steps. Neither is necessarily a reason to stop, but both are reasons to talk to the prescriber.
Treat extreme reviews on both sides cautiously. Very glowing and very hostile reviews are both over-represented in any review set.
The same caution applies to the recurring social-media rules that spread alongside these medicines. 'Coffee rules', for example, have no clinical basis: there is no interaction between Mounjaro and caffeine, though strong coffee on an empty stomach can aggravate nausea or reflux for some people.1
08 · Pills and tricks
Weight loss pills, 'Japanese tricks' and superfoods
No food is banned on Mounjaro, and no single food melts fat. The approach is simple: protein at each meal, vegetables and fibre, regular fluids, smaller and slower meals, and a sustainable calorie deficit rather than a perfect food list.1 Regular moderate activity such as brisk walking, plus resistance work for muscle, is the evidence-backed pattern.1
Do weight loss pills work in the UK? Licensed options exist, and a pharmacist or prescriber can discuss them with you, but over-the-counter products marketed with dramatic weight-loss claims are a different matter. Treat promises of fast results as a warning sign.
09 · Complaints route
If you want to make a complaint
Start with the provider, then escalate if you are not satisfied. Contact the pharmacy's support team in writing so there is a record, say what happened and what outcome you want. Registered pharmacies must take complaints seriously.
If the issue concerns a pharmacy's conduct, the GPhC is the regulator, and its public register lets you confirm that a pharmacy is genuine.12 If the issue is a suspected side effect, report it through the Yellow Card scheme, whether or not you are sure the medicine caused it.19
With us, you can reach support Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, by email at support@everydaymeds.co.uk, through account portal chat, or by phone on 0333 207 0413. Declined consultations are refunded automatically in full. Dispensed prescription medicines cannot be returned except where an item is faulty, damaged or wrong, in which case contact us within 3 days.
10 · Serious side effects
Serious side effects: when to get help straight away
Serious side effects are uncommon but need urgent attention. Seek immediate medical help for: severe, persistent stomach pain that may spread to your back, with or without vomiting (possible pancreatitis); pain in the upper right abdomen, fever or yellowing of skin/eyes (possible gallbladder problems); or signs of a severe allergic reaction such as swelling of the face or throat and difficulty breathing. If you take insulin or a sulfonylurea alongside Mounjaro, watch for low blood sugar (shakiness, sweating, confusion) — your prescriber may need to adjust those medicines.1
How ordering works
How ordering works at EverydayMeds
Three steps, with our pharmacy team alongside you.
Step 1: Online consultation — 5–10 minutes
Complete a confidential health questionnaire covering BMI, medical history and current medication. No payment is taken until you're approved.
Step 2: Prescriber review — usually same day
A UK registered prescriber checks your suitability against the licensed criteria (BMI ≥30, or ≥27 with a weight-related condition) and contraindications, and confirms your starting dose.
Step 3: Next-day tracked delivery
Dispensed by our GPhC-registered pharmacy in temperature-controlled packaging with needles and a sharps bin included. Orders approved by 3pm for next-day tracked delivery.
Prescription and dispatch follow clinical approval. Confirm current delivery options when ordering.
Afterwards you're not on your own: dose-change reviews are built in before each step up, our pharmacist team is available for side-effect questions, and repeat orders re-check suitability rather than auto-shipping.
