GLP-1 Optimizer Bundle UK: What You Get and What You Don't (October 2026)

A GLP-1 optimizer bundle is a food-supplement pack, not a GLP-1 medicine: it contains no tirzepatide or semaglutide, so it cannot work like a prescription injection. Mounjaro (tirzepatide) is the licensed option, and a first 2.5mg pen costs £129.99 with code FIRST40 (standard price £169.99). Prices checked 11 October 2026.

A quick overview

What to know
before you start.

  • A 'GLP-1 optimizer' or 'support' bundle is a supplement product. It is not a prescription GLP-1 medicine and does not contain one.
  • Mounjaro is prescription-only and supplied after an online consultation reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber.
  • In SURMOUNT-1, tirzepatide users lost 15% to 20.9% of body weight on average over 72 weeks; individual results vary.
  • Your first 2.5mg Mounjaro pen costs £129.99 with code FIRST40; the standard price is £169.99.
  • Check with your prescriber before adding any supplement bundle to GLP-1 treatment.

01 · The verdict

What is a GLP-1 optimizer bundle?

A GLP-1 optimizer bundle is a retail pack of supplements, sold under names such as 'optimizer', 'support' or 'essentials'. It is marketed as backing the body's natural appetite signals. It is not a licensed medicine, and it is not Mounjaro or any other GLP-1 prescription treatment.

They tend to combine ingredients such as fibre, prebiotics, protein, electrolytes or vitamins.

A supplement can be a reasonable nutritional extra for some people. It is not a substitute for a prescription medicine, and the two should not be confused. If you are looking for a similar overview, our guides to a GLP-1 bundle and a GLP-1 support bundle cover the same ground from different angles.

02 · Side by side

CostAvailable cheaply without assessmentFirst 2.5mg pen £129.99 with code FIRST40; standard £169.99

The cost gap is real, but price is not the whole picture. A cheap product that does not do what its name implies is not good value.

03 · Cost and ordering

What Mounjaro costs and how to order

The Mounjaro pen starts at £169.99 for the 2.5mg starter pen, which is four weeks of treatment. All six doses are in stock. New customers save £40 on their first order with code FIRST40, at any dose. An automatic £25 reorder discount applies to every future order (code DOSE25).

For planning, if you step up after 4 weeks on each dose, your first four pens (2.5mg to 10mg) cost £959.96 at standard prices. A first year costs £2,711.88 if you stay on 5mg after your 2.5mg starting pen, up to £3,599.88 if you step up through every dose to 15mg, again before discounts: a new customer's first order is £40 less and every later order £25 less.

Ordering takes three steps:

  • Free online consultation: a short health questionnaire, no charge and no obligation.
  • Prescriber review: a GPhC-registered prescriber reviews it. Payment is taken when you place the order; if the prescriber decides the treatment is not suitable, the order is refunded automatically in full.
  • Dispatch and delivery: same-day dispatch when ordered by 3pm, then free next-day tracked delivery in discreet, temperature-controlled packaging.

You can start your free consultation whenever you are ready. The price shown is the price paid.

04 · Why bundles can't act like GLP-1

Why a bundle can't act like a GLP-1 medicine

A supplement pack cannot reproduce what tirzepatide does, because it does not contain the drug. Tirzepatide activates two natural gut-hormone receptors at once, GIP and GLP-1. Together these help regulate appetite, slow how quickly the stomach empties and improve the way the body responds to insulin.1

In practice, most people on the medicine feel fuller sooner and less hungry between meals, which supports a reduced-calorie diet. That is the mechanism behind the trial results, and it is specific to the prescription drug.

The headline evidence comes from SURMOUNT-1, a trial of 2,539 adults. Alongside diet and exercise, people taking tirzepatide lost on average 15% of body weight on 5mg, 19.5% on 10mg and 20.9% on 15mg over 72 weeks, compared with 3.1% with lifestyle changes alone. For someone starting at 100 kg, 20.9% is about 21 kg. These are trial averages, individual results vary, and treatment works alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity, not instead of them.2

If a product page makes dramatic weight-loss claims without a named trial, treat it with caution. Our explainer on GLP-1 technology goes further into how these medicines work.

05 · Reading customer reviews

How to read customer reviews of GLP-1 bundles

Customer reviews of supplement bundles are not clinical evidence, and they should be read that way. A review reflects one person's experience, often alongside other diet changes, and often posted soon after purchase.

Reviews also tend to be selective. Sellers control which reviews appear on their own pages, and many are collected through discount-for-review schemes. A star rating tells you about delivery and taste more reliably than it tells you about appetite or weight.

When you read reviews, ask three questions:

  • Does the review say what else the person changed, such as diet, activity or medicines?
  • Is the claim a specific outcome? Specific promises about speed or amount are a warning sign.
  • Is the product being compared with a prescription medicine it does not contain?

06 · Who is eligible for GLP-1 treatment

Who can have GLP-1 treatment in the UK?

Mounjaro is licensed for weight management in adults with a BMI of 30 or above, or a BMI between 27 and 30 with at least one weight-related condition. Examples include high blood pressure, high cholesterol, obstructive sleep apnoea, cardiovascular disease, prediabetes or type 2 diabetes. It must be used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity.1

A prescriber assesses your BMI, medical history and current medicines before deciding whether it is suitable. Your prescriber will also take extra care, or may recommend against treatment, if you have a history of pancreatitis, severe gut or digestive disease, diabetic retinopathy, or gallbladder problems. You should not take Mounjaro if you are allergic to tirzepatide or any of its ingredients, and it should not be used during pregnancy or while trying to conceive. Mounjaro must not be used during pregnancy, and it should be stopped at least one month before trying to conceive. If you become pregnant during treatment, stop the medicine and tell your prescriber promptly.

On the NHS, Mounjaro is available but access is being phased in over several years. NICE recommends it for adults with a BMI of at least 35 plus at least one weight-related condition. The primary-care rollout began in June 2025 with the highest-need groups first, initially BMI 40+ with four or more qualifying conditions.46 Full rollout is expected to take years, which is why many people who meet the licensed criteria choose regulated private treatment rather than waiting.

If you are unsure which route suits you, our overview of all weight loss treatments compares the options.

07 · Over the counter and tablets

Can you get GLP-1 over the counter in the UK?

No. Mounjaro is a prescription-only medicine, supplied only after an online consultation reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber. Anything sold without a prescription that is labelled 'GLP-1' is a supplement, not the medicine.

Be wary of any seller offering to supply a GLP-1 injection without a consultation or prescription. You can check that a pharmacy is genuine on the GPhC register; ours is registration 9012878.12 We supply Mounjaro through official LillyDirect supply, as genuine KwikPens.

Do GLP-1 tablets work in the UK? Tablet options exist, including Wegovy tablets and Foundayo, and each has its own product information.2021 They are prescription medicines too, not supplements. For the injectable alternative to Mounjaro, see the Wegovy pen and its current prices.

08 · Supplements alongside treatment

Using supplements alongside GLP-1 treatment

If you are on or considering treatment, tell your prescriber about any supplement before you add it.

One interaction worth knowing is not about supplements at all. Mounjaro can reduce absorption of oral contraceptives, because stomach emptying slows.7 The SmPC advises switching to a non-oral method, or adding a barrier method (such as condoms), for 4 weeks after starting Mounjaro and for 4 weeks after each dose increase.1 Doses of insulin or sulfonylureas may also need adjusting because of the risk of low blood sugar.

Treatment includes ongoing monthly reviews, dose titration and follow-up assessments by the prescribing team, plus side-effect support. Serious side effects are uncommon but need urgent attention. Seek immediate medical help for: severe, persistent stomach pain that may spread to your back, with or without vomiting (possible pancreatitis); pain in the upper right abdomen, fever or yellowing of skin/eyes (possible gallbladder problems); or signs of a severe allergic reaction such as swelling of the face or throat and difficulty breathing. For any other new symptom, discuss it with your prescriber and report it through the Yellow Card scheme.19 The free GLPTrackr app can help you log your journey on iOS or Android.

The prebiotic and gut-health angle behind many bundles is covered in our GLP-1 prebiotic guide, and the clinical-terminology side in our GLP-1 and GIP explainer.

Your questions, answered

Mounjaro price UK — frequently asked questions

Answers to common questions about Mounjaro prices, NHS access and ongoing treatment.

Ask our pharmacy team
Is a GLP-1 optimizer bundle the same as Mounjaro?
No. A GLP-1 optimizer bundle is a supplement pack, while Mounjaro is the brand name for tirzepatide, a once-weekly prescription injection made by Eli Lilly. Mounjaro is licensed in the UK for weight management and type 2 diabetes. A bundle contains no tirzepatide and is not a licensed medicine.
Is GLP-1 the same as Mounjaro?
Not exactly. GLP-1 is a natural gut hormone, and some medicines act on its receptor. Mounjaro (tirzepatide) activates two receptors, GIP and GLP-1, which distinguishes it from single-action GLP-1 medicines such as semaglutide (Wegovy/Ozempic). So Mounjaro is a GLP-1-related medicine, but the terms are not interchangeable.
Which GLP-1 is best for weight loss in the UK?
It depends on your suitability, and a prescriber should decide. Mounjaro and Wegovy are both licensed treatments. SURMOUNT-5 is the head-to-head trial comparing tirzepatide with semaglutide. Which suits you depends on your health profile, tolerance and prescriber advice, not the headline number alone.
Who should not take GLP-1?
You should not take Mounjaro if you are allergic to tirzepatide or any of its ingredients, and it should not be used during pregnancy or while trying to conceive. Your prescriber will take extra care, or may recommend against treatment, if you have a history of pancreatitis, severe gut or digestive disease, diabetic retinopathy, or gallbladder problems. Always share your full medical history and medicine list during consultation. Our free consultation is reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber, and unsuitable orders are refunded automatically.
Can you get GLP-1 over the counter in the UK?
No. Mounjaro is prescription-only and is supplied only after an online consultation reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber. Products sold without a prescription under a GLP-1 name are supplements and do not contain the medicine. Avoid any seller offering to supply an injection without a consultation or prescription.
Do GLP-1 tablets work in the UK?
Prescription GLP-1 tablets exist, including Wegovy tablets and Foundayo, and each has its own UK product information. They are different from supplement bundles. No trial has compared Mounjaro directly with either tablet, so results from separate trials should not be set against each other as if they were head to head. Check the current Wegovy tablet prices on our product page, and ask your prescriber which option suits you.
How does the licensed option compare with a supplement bundle for weight loss?
A supplement bundle is not a medicine and has no comparable trial evidence. The licensed option, Mounjaro, has trial evidence: in SURMOUNT-1, tirzepatide users lost on average 15% to 20.9% of body weight over 72 weeks alongside diet and exercise. Individual results vary.
How much does Mounjaro cost compared with a bundle?
A supplement bundle is available cheaply without assessment, but it is a different product. Your first 2.5mg Mounjaro pen costs £129.99 with code FIRST40; the standard price is £169.99. Every later order is £25 off the standard price. Prices checked 11 October 2026.
